A system for detecting objects by scanning with laser light.

The system uses a variable-angle mirror and adjustable laser output to enhance scanning range and detection accuracy by optimizing light reception and threshold settings, addressing the limitations of existing systems in maintaining detection sensitivity at the edges.

Abstract

This invention provides a means to expand the scanning range in which object detection is possible. [Solution] The system 100 includes a light-emitting element 102 that emits laser light, a mirror 105 whose angle with respect to the optical axis of the light-emitting element 102 is variable, and a light-receiving element 107. The laser light is reflected by the mirror 105 to vary the emission direction within the scanning range RVH, and the reflected light that returns after the emitted laser light hits an object is received by the light-receiving element 107. The output of the light-emitting element 102 is made stronger at the edges of the scanning range RVH than at the center.
