Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of brake calipers, and more particularly to floating calipers and disc brakes. [Background technology]
[0002] A conventional floating caliper straddles the brake disc via a caliper body and a bracket, and the bracket allows the caliper body to be connected to a fixed member on the vehicle body. The caliper body is connected to the bracket via a guide mechanism and moves axially relative to the bracket. When the running brake or parking brake is applied, a piston pushes the inner friction plate, bringing it close to the inner working surface of the brake disc and applying pressure. The caliper body moves relative to the bracket via the guide mechanism, and the outer hook portion of the caliper body pushes the outer friction plate, bringing it close to the outer working surface of the brake disc and applying pressure. The inner and outer friction plates clamp the brake disc, generating braking force.
[0003] However, in conventional floating calipers, when the brake disc rotates during braking and the inner and outer friction plates clamp the brake disc, the outer friction plate is fixed to the outside of the caliper body, so the braking force received by the outer friction plate is transmitted to the caliper body, then from the caliper body via a guide mechanism to a bracket, and then transmitted to the inner friction plate via the bracket, before effective braking is possible. Therefore, conventional floating calipers have the following problems: 1) the braking force transmission path is long, causing attenuation along the way and affecting braking efficiency, and 2) after the braking force received by the outer friction plate is transmitted to the caliper body, the caliper body rotates and tilts, causing the force received by the outer friction plate to be uneven, resulting in uneven wear and affecting the braking performance of the caliper.
[0004] For example, patent publication number CN201071890Y discloses a bridge plate type floating caliper assembly, which mainly includes a caliper body, which is divided into a cylinder and a bridge plate, which are fixedly connected to one another, which is directly connected to a knuckle, which has brake pads fixedly connected to the bridge plate, which has a piston mounted in the internal space of the cylinder, and which is provided with a guide tube for floating connection. Although this patent omits the bracket and reduces costs, the problem of poor braking performance of the caliper still exists, and the above technical problems are not solved. [0031] It should be noted that in the description of the present invention, unless otherwise expressly specified and limited, the terms "attach," "couple," and "connect" should be interpreted broadly. For example, they may refer to a fixed connection, a detachable connection, or an integral connection. They may also refer to a mechanical connection or an electrical connection. They may also refer to a direct connection or an indirect connection via an intermediate medium. Those skilled in the art can interpret the specific meaning of the above terms in the present invention according to the specific circumstances.
[0032] The present invention provides a floating caliper, the specific structure of which will be specifically described in the following examples.
[0033] Example 1 1 to 9, the floating caliper includes a caliper body 1, which has a separate structure and includes an outer brake caliper body 12 and an inner brake caliper body 13 that are connected by a fastening method such as bolts or rivets. This separate structure makes it easy to maintain and replace the caliper body 1, and even if one part is damaged, only the corresponding part needs to be replaced, reducing maintenance costs.
[0034] The outer brake caliper body 12 is disposed outside the brake disc and is outside the caliper body 1, and an outer friction plate 5 is fixed to the outer brake caliper body 12. The inner brake caliper body 13 is disposed inside the brake disc and is inside the caliper body 1, and an inner friction plate 4 is fixed to the inner brake caliper body 13. The inner brake caliper body 13 and a bracket 2 attached to the vehicle body are connected via a guide assembly 7 so as to be slidable in the axial direction, and a brake space spanning the brake disc is formed between the outer brake caliper body 12 and the bracket 2, and the outer brake caliper body 12 and the bracket 2 are connected via a brake force transmission structure 3.
[0035] During running braking or parking braking, the brake disc is in a rotating state and the outer friction plate 5 is fixed to the outer brake caliper body 12, so that the braking force received by the outer friction plate 5 is transmitted to the outer brake caliper body 12. As the outer brake caliper body 12 is connected to the bracket 2 via the brake force transmission structure 3, the braking force received by the outer brake caliper body 12 is transmitted to the bracket 2, and the braking force is transmitted to the inner friction plate 4 via the bracket 2, and the inner friction plate 4 and the outer friction plate 5 clamp the brake disc, realizing effective braking. The installation of the brake force transmission structure 3 shortens the braking force transmission path, improving braking efficiency and braking performance.
[0036] Specifically, the braking force transmission structure 3 is provided as an axial guide structure in which the bracket 2 and the outer brake caliper body 12 are fitted together. The axial direction here is the direction along the wheel axle and also the braking direction of the caliper body 1. This prevents the caliper body 1 (mainly the outer brake caliper body 12) from tilting when driving or parking brake, and avoids uneven wear caused by uneven forces received by the outer friction plate 5.
[0037] The axial guide structure includes a position limiting boss 31 provided on the bracket 2 and a position limiting groove 32 provided on the outer brake caliper body 12, and the position limiting boss 31 is fitted into the position limiting groove 32 so as to be slidable in the axial direction.
[0038] A plurality of position limiting bosses 31 are provided, and are arranged symmetrically on both ends of the bracket 2. A plurality of position limiting grooves 32 are provided, and each position limiting groove 32 is fitted into a corresponding position limiting boss 31 so as to be slidable in the axial direction. Preferably, two position limiting bosses 31 are provided, and the two position limiting bosses 31 are provided extending from both ends of the bracket 2, and the two position limiting bosses 31 are molded integrally with the bracket 2. The position limiting grooves 32 are arranged along the braking direction of the outer brake caliper body 12 and are provided as elongated axial grooves, and the position limiting bosses 31 slide along the corresponding position limiting grooves 32.
[0039] The longitudinal cross section of the position limiting boss 31 is set to a shape such as a polygon, a circle, or an ellipse, and the longitudinal cross section of the position limiting groove 32 is the same as that of the position limiting boss 31, and the length of the position limiting groove 32 is greater than that of the position limiting boss 31, and the length of the position limiting groove 32 is greater than the brake stroke of the caliper body 1. Both during braking and after the brake is released, the position limiting boss 31 is always located within the position limiting groove 32. This ensures that the position limiting boss 31 always fits into the position limiting groove 32 and slides along the position limiting groove 32 without deviation during the driving brake and parking brake processes, preventing the caliper body from tilting during braking and avoiding uneven wear on the outer friction plate 5 due to uneven forces received by it.
[0040] Two sets of the structure in which the position limiting bosses 31 and the position limiting grooves 32 fit together are provided, and the position limiting bosses 31 and the position limiting grooves 32 have the same longitudinal cross sections. On the one hand, when braking, the outer friction plate 5 transmits the braking force to the outer brake caliper body 12, and the two sets of position limiting bosses 31 and position limiting grooves 32 work together to prevent the outer brake caliper body 12 from rotating, and the braking force (torsion moment) received by the outer brake caliper body 12 is transmitted to the bracket 2, and the braking force is transmitted to the inner friction plate 4 via the bracket 2, and the inner friction plate 4 and the outer friction plate 5 clamp the brake disc, achieving effective braking, shortening the braking force transmission path, and improving braking efficiency and braking performance. On the other hand, since the length of the position limiting groove 32 is greater than the brake stroke of the caliper body 1, it is ensured that the position limiting boss 31 always slides along the length of the position limiting groove 32 during the process of running braking and parking braking, which prevents the caliper body from tilting when braking and avoids uneven wear caused by uneven forces received by the outer friction plate 5.
[0041] Specifically, the caliper body 1 is provided as a U-shaped caliper body that straddles the brake disc, and the U-shaped caliper body covers the inner friction plate 4, the outer friction plate 5, and the bracket 2, giving it the appearance of a fixed caliper and effectively protecting the inner friction plate 4, the outer friction plate 5, and the bracket 2.
[0042] The mounting surface of the caliper body 1 that is close to the inside of the brake disc (i.e., the mounting surface of the inner brake caliper body 13 that is close to the inside of the brake disc) is connected to the bracket 2, and an outer friction plate 5 is attached to the mounting surface of the caliper body 1 (outer brake caliper body 12) that faces the bracket 2. A pressing means 6 for pressing the inner friction plate 4 is attached to the center of the inside of the caliper body 1 (inner brake caliper body 13). This pressing means 6 includes a piston and a hydraulic or electric control component connected to it, and functions as both a foot brake and a parking brake. The center of the bracket 2 and the inner friction plate 4 are elastically connected by an elastic structure such as an eight-shaped spring. When braking, the inner friction plate 4 moves a certain distance under the action of the pressing means 6 before approaching the inner working surface of the brake disc. When the brake is released, the pressing means 6 returns, and the inner friction plate 4 can automatically return to its original position due to the action of its elastic force.
[0043] Specifically, the bracket 2 is configured as a U-shaped frame, and both ends of the bracket 2 are connected to the inside of the caliper body 1 via guide assemblies 7, respectively. The two guide assemblies 7 are arranged symmetrically to ensure that the force they receive is uniform. Furthermore, the guide assemblies 7 are located outside the brake force transmission structure 3, which further ensures the stability of the guide movement when the caliper body 1 is braking.
[0044] Two guide holes 11 are provided inside the caliper body 1, and the guide assembly 7 includes a metal bushing 71 fixedly attached (press-fitted) in the guide hole 11 and a guide pin 72 slidably connected inside the metal bushing 71, one end of which is fixed to the bracket 2 by a screw connection or rivet connection. In the present invention, the inside of the caliper body 1 and the bracket 2 are connected via two sets of guide assemblies 7 having the same structure, and the guide assemblies 7 include a metal bushing 71 and a guide pin 72 slidably connected inside the metal bushing 71, thereby ensuring the stability of the guide movement of the caliper body 1 and further guaranteeing a good braking effect.
[0045] Since the bracket 2 is fixed to the vehicle body, during braking, the pressing means 6 presses the inner friction plate 4 to bring it into close contact with the inner working surface of the brake disc, and after it reaches a predetermined position, the pressing means 6 continues to operate, causing the inner brake caliper body 13 to slide relative to the guide pin 72, and moving the outer brake caliper body 12 in a direction approaching the outer working surface of the brake disc, and finally the outer friction plate 5 presses against the outer working surface of the brake disc, so that the inner friction plate 4 and the outer friction plate 5 clamp the brake disc, decelerating and braking the brake disc and the wheel connected to it.
[0046] Both ends of the metal bush 71 each extend a certain distance from the guide hole 11, and a dustproof end cap 8 is sealed and attached to one end of the metal bush 71 away from the bracket 2, and a dustproof cover 9 is attached to one end of the metal bush 71 close to the bracket 2, thereby preventing dust and dirt from entering the guide hole 11 or the sliding space between the metal bush 71 and the guide pin 72 and avoiding any effect on the floating movement of the caliper body 1 relative to the bracket 2.
[0047] Furthermore, one end of the metal bush 71 extends from the guide hole 11 and then engages with one side of the bracket 2, thereby ensuring that the inside of the caliper body 1 (the inner brake caliper body 13) returns accurately after the brake is released, further preventing any impact on the stability of the next braking due to deviation during return.
[0048] The present invention further provides a disc brake including the above-mentioned floating caliper, further including a brake disc attached to a wheel, in which the outer brake caliper body 12 and bracket 2 in the above-mentioned floating caliper are arranged to straddle the brake disc.
[0049] The braking principle of this disc brake is as follows: during running braking or parking braking, the pressing means 6 presses the inner friction plate 4 to make it adhere to the inner working surface of the brake disc, and after it reaches a predetermined position, the pressing means 6 continues to operate, causing the inner brake caliper body 13 to slide along the guide pin 72 and the outer brake caliper body 12 to move in a direction approaching the outer working surface of the brake disc, during which the position limiting boss 31 on the bracket 2 slides within the position limiting groove 32 of the outer brake caliper body 12 until the outer friction plate 5 presses against the outer working surface of the rotating brake disc. The braking force received by the outer friction plate 5 is transmitted to the outer brake caliper body 12, and the two sets of position limiting bosses 31 and position limiting grooves 32 work together to prevent the outer brake caliper body 12 from rotating. The braking force (torsion moment) received by the outer brake caliper body 12 is transmitted to the bracket 2, and the braking force is transmitted to the inner friction plate 4 via the bracket 2. The inner friction plate 4 and the outer friction plate 5 clamp the brake disc, slowing down and braking the brake disc and the wheel connected to it.
[0050] Example 2 The difference from Example 1 is that the axial guide structure includes a position limiting groove 32 provided along the thickness direction of the bracket 2 and a position limiting boss 31 provided on the outside of the caliper body 1 (outer brake caliper body 12), and the position limiting boss 31 and the position limiting groove 32 are fitted together so as to be slidable in the axial direction. The operating principle is the same as Example 1, and the structure is not shown.
[0051] A plurality of position limiting bosses 31 are provided, and are arranged symmetrically on both ends of the outer side of the caliper body 1. A plurality of position limiting grooves 32 are provided, and each position limiting groove 32 is fitted with a corresponding position limiting boss 31 so as to be slidable in the axial direction. Preferably, two position limiting bosses 31 and two position limiting grooves 32 are provided, and the two position limiting bosses 31 are arranged along the braking direction of the outer brake caliper body 12, are provided as axially elongated bosses, and are molded integrally with the outer brake caliper body 12. The two position limiting grooves 32 are arranged along the thickness direction of the bracket 2, and are located at both ends of the bracket 2, respectively, and the position limiting grooves 32 slide along the longitudinal direction of the position limiting bosses 31.
[0052] Furthermore, the length of the position limiting boss 31 is greater than the length of the position limiting groove 32, and the length of the position limiting boss 31 is greater than the braking stroke of the caliper body 1. Whether braking or after the brake is released, the position limiting groove 32 is always engaged with the position limiting boss 31, so that during the process of running braking and parking braking, the position limiting groove 32 is always engaged with the position limiting boss 31, which ensures that the position limiting groove 32 slides along the length of the position limiting boss 31 without deviation, preventing the caliper body from tilting during braking and avoiding uneven wear on the outer friction plate 5 due to uneven forces received by it.
[0053] Example 3 The difference from the first and second embodiments is that the caliper body 1 is provided as an integral structure. That is, the outer brake caliper body 12 and the inner brake caliper body 13 in the first and second embodiments are integrated and formed as a single unit (not shown), which further ensures the stability of the brake.
[0054] As described above, the present invention has a compact structure, requires low modification costs, improves braking efficiency, prevents the caliper body from tilting, and avoids uneven wear caused by uneven forces on the outer friction plates.
[0055] While the principles of the present invention have been described by way of illustration, this specification is not intended to limit the invention to the specific construction and scope shown and described, and all available modifications and equivalents are therefore included within the scope of the present invention.
