Hydrogen production process using improved CO2 fractional distillation process

Abstract

A hydrogen production process is described that uses a CO2 fractionation column to recover liquid or supercritical carbon dioxide. The process uses the liquid or supercritical carbon dioxide enrichment product from the carbon dioxide recovery system to cool the compressed tail gas upstream of the dewatering unit. The warm CO2 exiting the cooler is returned to the fractionation column as stripping steam.
