Abstract

This disclosure relates in part to a Nannochloropsis microalga that produces recombinant viruses. Expression cassettes, transgenes, and methods for producing recombinant viruses in Nannochloropsis are also provided. In particular, methods and materials for producing recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) in Nannochloropsis are provided. In some embodiments described herein, Nannochloropsis is Nannochloropsis oceanica.
