Secondary batteries and sealing devices for their manufacture

Abstract

The present invention provides a secondary battery with high sealing reliability and a sealing apparatus for manufacturing secondary batteries that can reduce cycle time. The secondary battery according to the present invention includes a battery case that includes a sealing portion having a structure in which an electrode assembly with protruding electrode leads is built in and the outer periphery is sealed, wherein the sealing portion includes a first sealing portion on the electrode lead side of the battery case and a second sealing portion on the electrode lead side of the battery case, wherein the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion each include one end and the other end in the direction in which the electrode leads protrude, and the other end of the second sealing portion extends in the direction opposite to the direction in which the electrode leads protrude compared to the other end of the first sealing portion.
