Abstract

A surgical knife for otological procedures includes a handle with distal and proximal ends, the handle further including a control member and a shaft with distal and proximal ends, the proximal end of which is connected to the distal end of the handle. The surgical knife further includes a rod positioned within the shaft and having distal and proximal ends, the proximal end of which is connected to the control member, and the rod is configured to rotate about a first axis of rotation when the control member is activated. The surgical knife further includes a circular blade rotatably connected to the distal end of the rod and configured to rotate about a second axis of rotation, the second axis of rotation being positioned at a fixed, non-zero angle with respect to the first axis of rotation.

Claims

1. It is a surgical knife, A handle including a distal end and a proximal end opposite to the distal end, further including a control member, A shaft comprising a distal end and a proximal end opposite to the distal end, wherein the proximal end is connected to the distal end of the handle, A rod disposed within the shaft and including a distal end and a proximal end opposite to the distal end, wherein the proximal end of the rod is connected to the control member, and the rod is configured to rotate about a first axis of rotation when the control member is operated, A circular blade is rotatably connected to the distal end of the rod and configured to rotate about a second axis of rotation, wherein the second axis of rotation is positioned at a fixed, non-zero angle with respect to the first axis of rotation, and A surgical knife that includes [a specific component].

2. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the circular blade includes a substantially circular or elliptical disc shape.

3. The surgical knife according to claim 2, wherein only a portion of the circumference of the circular blade includes a sharp cutting edge.

4. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the second axis of rotation is 0 to 90 degrees with respect to the first axis of rotation.

5. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the circular blade rotates around the second axis of rotation with a rotation angle of 0 to 360 degrees.

6. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the circular blade is connected to the distal end of the rod by a universal joint or bevel gear.

7. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the control member includes a rotating component, a sliding button for driving a feed screw, an extrusion mechanism, or an electric motor controlled by a button.

8. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the handle further includes a locking mechanism for fixing the control member in at least a first position and a second position.

9. The surgical knife according to claim 1, further comprising a suction tube disposed within the shaft, wherein the suction tube is in fluid communication with a distal port located at the distal end of the shaft and a proximal port located on the handle, and the proximal port is configured to be operably connected to a vacuum source in order to provide vacuum pressure at the distal port.

10. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the proximal end of the shaft is detachably or fixedly connected to the handle.

11. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the proximal end of the shaft is connected to the handle at a non-zero angle with respect to the main longitudinal axis of the handle.

12. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the shaft is rotatable relative to the handle.

13. The surgical knife according to claim 12, wherein the proximal end of the shaft is connected to the handle at a non-zero angle with respect to the main longitudinal axis of the handle.

14. The surgical knife according to claim 8, wherein the handle further includes a locking mechanism having continuous positioning for fixing the control member at any position along a certain range of positions.

15. The surgical knife according to claim 1, wherein the shaft further includes a pivot mechanism for adjusting the inclination angle of the circular blade.
