Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a surfboard wax applicator that is suitable for use in removing old anti-slip wax that has been applied to a surfboard. [Background technology]
[0002] Surfboards are waxed to increase grip (friction) and prevent the surfer from slipping on the board.
[0003] As a waxing tool for surfboards, for example, a surfboard wax comb is used, as shown in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 6-11036. This surfboard wax comb is made of a plastic plate, and a spatula is formed on one side, which is used to scrape off old anti-slip wax that has lost its grip (friction). After applying new anti-slip wax, the sawtooth part on the other side is used to comb the anti-slip wax and make it stand up, further increasing the grip (friction).
[0004] However, because the conventional surfboard wax combs described above are plate-shaped, they are difficult to grip and place a great strain on the user's arms when rubbing the anti-slip wax off, making it difficult and cumbersome to efficiently peel off the anti-slip wax. [0011] In this invention, a surfboard wax applicator 1 has been realized which is easy for a user to grip, places less strain on the user's arms when scraping off the anti-slip wax, and is capable of efficiently and easily peeling off the anti-slip wax, by comprising a main body 6 which has a spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 with an inclined surface 2 at the top, and a scraper portion 5 which is provided at the bottom of the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 and has an annular blade portion 4 at its lower end for scraping off the anti-slip wax. EXAMPLES
[0012] The wax applicator for surfboards according to the present invention will be described with reference to one embodiment shown in Figs. As shown in Figure 1 or Figure 5, the surfboard wax applicator 1 of this embodiment comprises a main body 6 having a spherical or nearly spherical portion 3 with an inclined surface 2 on the upper part, and a scraper portion 5 provided below the spherical or nearly spherical portion 3 and equipped at its lower end with an annular blade portion 4 for scraping off the anti-slip wax. Each component will be described in detail below.
[0013] The surfboard wax applicator 1 of this embodiment is a surfboard wax applicator that combines a scraper function that can scrape off old anti-slip wax, and a function that combs and stands up new applied anti-slip wax to increase grip (friction).
[0014] The main body 6 has a scraper function and is integrally molded with a spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 having an inclined surface 2 at the top, a scraper portion 5 provided at the bottom of the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 and equipped with an annular blade portion 4 at its lower end for scraping off the anti-slip wax, and a constricted portion 7 provided between the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 and the scraper portion 5 and having a smaller diameter than the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3.
[0015] As shown in FIG. 14, the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 is a portion that the user holds when peeling off the old anti-slip wax, and the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 allows the user to hold the portion without feeling uncomfortable in the palm and to hold it securely. In addition, since the inclined surface 2 is formed on the upper portion of the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3, the palm comes into contact with the inclined surface 2, so that the spherical or approximately spherical portion 3 is prevented from moving in the palm when rotating or moving up, down, left, and right, and the burden on the user's arm is small, and the anti-slip wax can be peeled off efficiently and easily. In this application, the term "spherical or approximately spherical portion" means that it is not limited to a perfect sphere, and is a concept that broadly includes a round object surrounded by a curved surface such as an elliptical sphere and having no corners when the user holds it.
[0016] The scraper portion 5 is a portion having a function of scraping off the anti-slip wax that has become old and has lost its grip (friction), and in this embodiment, it is configured as an annular portion that gradually expands in diameter downward as shown in Fig. 6 or 9. The scraper portion 5 has an annular blade portion 4 at its lower end, and is configured so that the annular corner of the annular blade portion 4 can scrape off the anti-slip wax.
[0017] In this embodiment, the annular blade portion 4 is formed in a circular ring shape, which makes it easier for the user to rotate the main body portion 6 held by the user, reduces the strain on the user's arm when scraping and peeling off the anti-slip wax, and allows the anti-slip wax to be peeled off efficiently and easily. However, although the annular blade portion of the present invention is preferably circular, it is not limited to this, and for example, an elliptical ring shape is also included in the scope of the present invention.
[0018] The constricted portion 7 is a portion for enabling the user to hold the main body portion 6 more securely, and is provided between the spherical or nearly spherical portion 3 and the scraper portion 5. As shown in Fig. 14, the constricted portion 7 is configured so that the user can hold the main body portion 6 securely by placing the fingertips of the user at the constricted portion 7. This makes it easier for the user to grip, reduces the strain on the user's arm when scraping off the anti-slip wax, and enables the anti-slip wax to be peeled off more efficiently.
[0019] 1 and 2, the surfboard wax applicator 1 has a mounting plate 8 for mounting the main body 6. By mounting the main body 6 on the mounting plate 8, damage to the annular blade 4 can be prevented.
[0020] As shown in Fig. 4, the mounting plate portion 8 has teeth 9 on one side for combing and standing the anti-slip wax. This allows the mounting plate portion 8 to be grasped and moved, for example, in the direction h in Fig. 15, to comb the newly applied anti-slip wax to form multiple linear grooves 20, and both sides of the linear grooves 20 to stand up, thereby increasing the grip (friction) of the surfboard.
[0021] In addition, the tooth portion 8 in this embodiment is formed in a sawtooth shape, which allows for a simple configuration of the tooth portion for combing and standing the anti-slip wax. However, the tooth portion in this invention is not limited to a sawtooth shape, and any shape that can comb the newly applied anti-slip wax and form multiple linear grooves 20 may be used, for example, a comb-like shape.
[0022] As shown in Fig. 4 or 12, the mounting plate 8 in this embodiment is formed in a substantially rectangular shape in plan view, and therefore the four sides are provided with the main body locking protrusions 10 that are substantially triangular in plan view. This allows the main body 6 placed on the mounting plate 8 to be locked and prevented from coming off the mounting plate 8, and further prevents damage to the annular blade 4. However, the mounting plate of the present invention is not limited to being substantially rectangular in plan view, and also includes those without teeth that are included in the scope of the present invention. For example, the mounting plate may be circular in plan view, and the main body locking protrusions in this case may be configured as an annular protrusion with an inner circumference that is slightly larger than the outer circumference of the annular blade.
[0023] The surfboard waxing tool 1 of this embodiment is made of a resin material, which makes it lightweight and easy for the user to hold. Specifically, the surfboard waxing tool 1 of this embodiment is made of nylon, which makes it possible to form an annular blade with a hardness that makes it easy to peel off the anti-slip wax. However, the surfboard waxing tool of this invention is not limited to those made of a resin material, and those made of other materials such as metal and wood are also included in the scope of this invention.
