Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a developer container and an image forming apparatus having a structure for preventing bridging of developer. [Background technology]
[0002] In an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a developer container supplies developer to a developing unit, and the developing unit develops an electrostatic latent image on a surface of a photoconductor. The developer container includes a housing having a supply port formed on a lower surface thereof that communicates with the developing unit, and a rotating body that is disposed within the housing and is driven to rotate.
[0003] By rotating the rotating body, the developer is transported to the supply port and is further supplied to the developing unit through the supply port. For example, the rotating body includes a shaft member and a flexible member connected to the shaft member. The flexible member is a film material that agitates the developer by rotating.
[0004] It is also known that the flexible member uses its elastic force to splash the developer from below toward a portion of the housing where the supply port is formed (see, for example, Patent Document 1). [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0005] [Patent Document 1] JP 2013-246268 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0006] However, it is necessary to prevent the developer from bridging in the developer container. The developer bridge is a phenomenon in which the developer condenses in a state in which the developer straddles the supply port. The developer bridge impedes the supply of the developer to the developing unit.
[0007] While increasing the rotation speed of the rotating body is effective in preventing the developer from bridging, it also accelerates the deterioration of the developer. Therefore, it is important to prevent the developer from bridging while suppressing the rotation speed of the rotating body. In addition, it is desired to simplify the structure of the developer container.
[0008] An object of the present invention is to provide a developer container that can prevent developer bridging with a simple structure without increasing the rotation speed of a rotating body, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the developer container. [Means for solving the problem]
[0009] A developer container according to one aspect of the present invention includes a housing, a rotating shaft, a flexible member, and a rotating plate. The housing contains a powder developer, and has a supply port formed on its lower surface that communicates with a supply destination of the developer. The rotating shaft is rotatably supported by the housing and is driven to rotate. The flexible member is connected to the rotating shaft, and has a tip edge portion that revolves through a region that spans the supply port on the inner lower surface of the housing when rotating in conjunction with the rotating shaft. The rotating plate is formed to protrude in a brim-like shape from a portion of the rotating shaft adjacent to the flexible member, has an outer edge portion that follows the edge of the supply port, and rotates in conjunction with the rotating shaft.
[0010] According to another aspect of the present invention, an image forming apparatus includes the developer container, a photoconductor, a developing unit, and a transfer unit. The photoconductor is a member on whose surface an electrostatic latent image is formed. The developing unit develops the electrostatic latent image with the developer supplied from the developer container. The transfer unit transfers the image on the surface of the photoconductor to a sheet. Effect of the Invention
[0011] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a developer container that can prevent developer bridging with a simple structure without increasing the rotation speed of a rotating body, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the developer container. [0013] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that the following embodiment is an example of the present invention, and is not intended to limit the technical scope of the present invention.
[0014] [First embodiment: configuration of image forming apparatus 10] The developer container 5 according to the first embodiment constitutes a part of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus 10.
[0015] The image forming apparatus 10 includes a print processing unit 4 that executes a print process. The print process is a process for forming an image on a sheet 9. The sheet 9 is a sheet-like image forming medium such as paper or a resin film.
[0016] As shown in FIG. 1, an image forming apparatus 10 includes a sheet transport mechanism 3, a print processing section 4, a developer container 5, and the like, which are arranged in a main body 100.
[0017] The sheet transport mechanism 3 sends out the sheet 9 accommodated in the sheet accommodation unit 101 to the sheet transport path 300 , and further transports the sheet 9 along the sheet transport path 300 .
[0018] The print processing section 4 includes a photoconductor 41, a charging device 42, a developing device 43, a transfer device 44, a cleaning device 45, an optical scanning unit 46, a fixing device 47, and the like.
[0019] The drum-shaped photoconductor 41 rotates, and the charging device 42 charges the surface of the photoconductor 41. The optical scanning unit 46 writes an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoconductor 41 by scanning a beam of light over the charged surface of the photoconductor 41. As a result, the electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface of the photoconductor 41.
[0020] The developing device 43 develops the electrostatic latent image by supplying a powdered developer 90 to the surface of the photoconductor 41. The developer 90 is toner. The developing device 43 is an example of a developing section that develops the electrostatic latent image with the developer 90 supplied from the developer container 5.
[0021] The transfer device 44 transfers the image of the developer 90 formed on the surface of the photoconductor 41 onto the sheet 9 moving along the sheet transport path 300. The transfer device 44 is an example of a transfer section. The fixing device 47 fixes the image of the developer 90 on the sheet 9 onto the sheet 9.
[0022] The cleaning device 45 removes the developer 90 remaining on the surface of the photoconductor 41. The developer container 5 supplies the developer 90 to the developing device 43. The developer container 5 is attachable to and detachable from the main body 100 of the image forming apparatus 10.
[0023] The developer container 5 includes a container housing 50 that contains developer 90, and a rotor 51 that is rotatably supported within the container housing 50. A supply port 500 that communicates with the receiving port 430 of the developing device 43 is formed on the bottom surface of the container housing 50. The developing device 43 is a destination to which the developer 90 is supplied from the developer container 5.
[0024] The rotating body 51 agitates the developer 90 by being rotationally driven within the container housing 50. Furthermore, the rotating body 51 sends out the developer 90 from the supply port 500 of the container housing 50 to the developing device 43. As a result, the developer 90 is supplied to the developing device 43 by natural falling.
[0025] Incidentally, it is necessary to prevent bridging of the developer 90 in the developer container 5. The bridging of the developer 90 is a phenomenon in which the developer 90 condenses in a state in which the developer 90 straddles the supply port 500. The bridging of the developer 90 hinders the supply of the developer 90 to the developing device 43.
[0026] While increasing the rotation speed of the rotating body 51 is effective in preventing bridging of the developer 90, it also accelerates deterioration of the developer 90. Therefore, it is important to prevent bridging of the developer 90 while suppressing the rotation speed of the rotating body 51. In addition, there is a demand for simplifying the structure of the developer container 5.
[0027] The developer container 5 has a structure for preventing the formation of a bridge of the developer 90 without increasing the rotation speed of the rotating body 51. The structure of the developer container 5 will be described below.
[0028] [Configuration of developer container 5] 2 and 3, the rotating body 51 of the developer container 5 includes a rotating shaft 52, a flexible member 53, a rotating plate 54, and a gear 55. The rotating shaft 52 is supported by the container housing 50 so as to be rotatable.
[0029] In each drawing, the direction along the rotation axis 52 is indicated as the axial direction D1, the horizontal direction perpendicular to the axial direction D1 is indicated as the lateral direction D2, and the vertical direction is indicated as the longitudinal direction D3.
[0030] The gear 55 is connected to an end of the rotating shaft 52 on the outside of the container housing 50. The gear 55 receives a rotational force from a driving unit (not shown) disposed outside the container housing 50. As a result, the rotating shaft 52 is rotationally driven by the driving unit.
[0031] The flexible member 53 is a film-like member whose main component is a synthetic resin such as PET (polyethylene terephthalate). Therefore, the flexible member 53 has flexibility. It is also possible that the flexible member 53 is a member in which other synthetic resins such as polyvinyl chloride or polycarbonate are molded into a film shape.
[0032] The flexible member 53 has a base end edge 53a connected to the rotating shaft 52 and a tip end edge 53b which is an edge on the opposite side to the base end edge 53a. The flexible member 53 rotates in conjunction with the rotating shaft 52. The base end edge 53a is a fixed end, and the tip end edge 53b is a free end.
[0033] When the flexible member 53 rotates in conjunction with the rotation shaft 52, the tip edge 53b revolves around the rotation shaft 52. The tip edge 53b revolves through a region that reaches the supply port 500 on the inner lower surface of the container casing 50. The tip edge 53b revolves while coming into contact with the inner lower surface of the container casing 50.
[0034] The rotation of the flexible member 53 agitates the developer 90. Furthermore, the flexible member 53 sends out the developer 90 in the container housing 50 through the supply port 500 when the leading edge portion 53b thereof rotates along the supply port 500.
[0035] The rotating plate 54 is connected to the rotating shaft 52. The rotating plate 54 is formed to protrude like a brim from a portion of the rotating shaft 52 adjacent to the flexible member 53. In this embodiment, the rotating plate 54 is formed in a disk shape perpendicular to the rotating shaft 52. The rotating plate 54 rotates in conjunction with the rotating shaft 52.
[0036] The rotating plate 54 has an outer edge 54a along an outer edge 500a which is an edge that forms one end of the supply port 500 in the axial direction D1.
[0037] The outer edge 54a of the rotating plate 54 dissolves the developer 90 present at the edge of the supply port 500. Even if the rotation speed of the rotating shaft 52 is slow, the rotating plate 54 continuously dissolves the developer 90. Therefore, the developer container 5 prevents the developer 90 from bridging without increasing the rotation speed of the rotating body 51.
[0038] Furthermore, the rotation of the rotating plate 54 has little effect on the agitation of the developer 90, and therefore has little effect on the deterioration of the developer 90. Even if the rotating plate 54 continues to rotate, it has little effect on the delivery of the developer 90.
[0039] Moreover, the developer container 5 does not include a conveying screw, and prevents the developer 90 from bridging with a simple structure.
[0040] [Second embodiment] Next, a developer container 5x according to a second embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 4. In Fig. 4, the same components as those shown in Figs. 2 and 3 are denoted by the same reference numerals.
[0041] The following describes the developer container 5x in terms of differences from the developer container 5. The developer container 5x has a configuration in which the rotating plate 54 in the developer container 5 is replaced with a rotating plate 54x.
[0042] The rotating plate 54x is connected to the rotating shaft 52. The rotating plate 54x is formed to protrude like a brim from a portion of the rotating shaft 52 adjacent to the flexible member 53. In this embodiment, the rotating plate 54x is formed to be inclined with respect to a plane perpendicular to the rotating shaft 52.
[0043] The rotating plate 54x also has an outer edge 54a that is aligned with the outer edge 500a of the supply port 500. The outer edge 54a of the rotating plate 54x swings in the axial direction D1 near the supply port 500. Therefore, the developer container 5x has a higher effect of dissolving the developer 90 present at the edge of the supply port 500.
[0044] [Third embodiment] Next, a developer container 5y according to a third embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 5 and 6. In Figures 5 and 6, the same components as those shown in Figures 2 and 3 are denoted by the same reference numerals.
[0045] The following describes the developer container 5y in terms of differences from the developer container 5. The developer container 5y has a configuration in which the rotating plate 54 in the developer container 5 is replaced with a rotating plate 54y.
[0046] The rotating plate 54y is connected to the rotating shaft 52. The rotating plate 54y is formed to protrude from a portion of the rotating shaft 52 adjacent to the flexible member 53 in a flange-like shape.
[0047] In this embodiment, a plurality of protrusions 54b arranged in the circumferential direction are formed on the surface of the outer edge 54a of the rotating plate 54y on the supply port 500 side. As a result, the surface of the outer edge 54a of the rotating plate 54y on the supply port 500 side is formed in an uneven shape.
[0048] In the developer container 5y, the rotary plate 54y has a plurality of protrusions 54b, and thus has a higher effect of dissolving the developer 90 present at the edge of the supply port 500. The rotary plate 54y may be applied to the developer container 5x.
[0049] [Fourth embodiment] Next, a developer container according to a fourth embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 7. In Figs. 5 and 6, the same components as those shown in Figs. 2 and 3 are denoted by the same reference numerals.
[0050] Hereinafter, a description will be given of the differences from the developer container 5 of this embodiment. The developer container of this embodiment has a configuration in which the rotating plate 54 in the developer container 5 is replaced with a rotating plate 54z.
[0051] The rotating plate 54z is connected to the rotating shaft 52. The rotating plate 54z is formed to protrude from a portion of the rotating shaft 52 adjacent to the flexible member 53 in a flange-like shape.
[0052] In this embodiment, a plurality of recesses 54c are formed in the circumferential direction on the outer edge 54a of the rotating plate 54z, so that the outer edge 54a of the rotating plate 54y is formed unevenly in the circumferential direction.
[0053] By adopting this embodiment, it is possible to realize a developer container that is more effective in loosening the developer 90 present at the edge of the supply port 500. The rotating plate 54z may be applied to the developer container 5x. [Explanation of symbols]
