[0008] A lens barrel 100 according to an embodiment will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Note that in each drawing, some elements may be omitted in order to facilitate understanding.

[0009] 1 is a diagram showing a camera 1 including a lens barrel 100 according to an embodiment and a camera body 101. Note that in this embodiment, the lens barrel 100 is detachable from the camera body 101, but is not limited to this, and the lens barrel 100 and the camera body 101 may be integrated.

[0010] Camera body 101 includes an image sensor IS and a control unit 140. The image sensor IS is composed of a photoelectric conversion element such as a CCD (Charge Coupled Device), and converts the subject image formed by the imaging optical system (lens barrel 100 attached to camera body 101) into an electrical signal.

[0011] The control unit 140 includes a CPU (Central Processing Unit) and the like, and controls the overall operation of the camera 1 relating to photography, including the focusing drive of the camera body 101 and the attached lens barrel 100.

[0012] As shown in Fig. 1, the lens barrel 100 includes a first fixed barrel 10 and a second fixed barrel 20. In this embodiment, the first fixed barrel 10 is made up of multiple parts, but it may be made up of a single part. As shown in Fig. 1, a lens mount LM that enables the lens barrel 100 to be attached to and detached from a camera body 101 is fixed to the first fixed barrel 10.

[0013] Lens barrel 100 also includes lens groups L1 to L7 arranged in sequence along a common optical axis OA. Lens group L3 is held by lens holding frame F3, and the other lens groups are held by first fixed barrel 10. Each of lens groups L1 to L7 may be composed of one lens or multiple lenses. Lens groups L1, L2, L4 to L7 may also be held by a lens holding frame that is movable in the direction of optical axis OA, instead of first fixed barrel 10.

[0014] Fig. 2(A) is a perspective view of the second fixed barrel 20 and the lens holding frame F3, and Fig. 2(B) is a plan view of the second fixed barrel 20 and the lens holding frame F3 as viewed from the subject side. The second fixed barrel 20 is disposed outside the lens holding frame F3, and a guide bar 22 and a rotation restriction bar 23 are fixed to the second fixed barrel 20. The guide bar 22 guides the lens holding frame F3 in the direction of the optical axis OA. The rotation restriction bar 23 restricts the rotation of the lens holding frame F3 around the guide bar 22 as an axis.

[0015] In addition, a first VCM (Voice Coil Motor) 50A and a second VCM 50B are provided in the second fixed barrel 20 for moving the lens holding frame F3 in the direction of the optical axis OA. As shown in FIG. 2B, the first VCM 50A and the second VCM 50B face each other across the optical axis OA in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA. The number of VCMs is not limited to that in this embodiment, and may be one or three or more. In the following description, the first VCM 50A and the second VCM 50B will be referred to as VCM 50 unless there is a need to distinguish them.

[0016] The VCM 50 is driven by a driving device 110 (see FIG. 1) provided inside the lens barrel 100. The driving device 110 controls the focusing drive of the lens group L3 under the control of a control unit 140 of the camera body 101. Specifically, the driving device 110 generates a driving signal for the VCM 50 based on position information of the lens group L3 input from a position detector 60 described below and target position information of the lens group L3 input from the control unit 140 of the camera body 101, and outputs the signal to the VCM 50. The driving device 110 is provided on the main board 120.

[0017] 3 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of the VCM 50. The VCM 50 includes a first side yoke 501a and a second side yoke 501b each having a length in the optical axis OA direction, and a center yoke 502 having a length in the optical axis OA direction and disposed between the first side yoke 501a and the second side yoke 501b.

[0018] The VCM 50 also includes an upper yoke 503a that connects one ends in the optical axis OA direction of the first side yoke 501a, the second side yoke 501b, and the center yoke 502, and a lower yoke 503b that connects the other ends in the optical axis OA direction of the first side yoke 501a, the second side yoke 501b, and the center yoke 502. This forms a closed magnetic path.

[0019] A first magnet 504a is disposed on the side surface of the first side yoke 501a facing the center yoke 502, and a second magnet 504b is disposed on the side surface of the second side yoke 501b facing the center yoke 502. The first magnet 504a is disposed, for example, so that the center yoke 502 side is the N pole, and the second magnet 504b is also disposed so that the center yoke 502 side is the N pole. This forms a magnetic path in which magnetic flux enters the center yoke 502 from the N poles of the first magnet 504a and the second magnet 504b, passes through the upper yoke 503a and the lower yoke 503b and the first side yoke 501a and the second side yoke 501b, and returns to the S poles of the first magnet 504a and the second magnet 504b.

[0020] The VCM 50 also includes a coil 505 that penetrates the center yoke 502. There is a small gap between the inner peripheral surface of the coil 505 and the center yoke 502, allowing the coil 505 to move in the direction of the optical axis OA. The coil 505 is also configured such that the direction of magnetic flux that converges from the first side yoke 501a and the second side yoke 501b to the center yoke 502 is perpendicular to the winding direction of the coil 505.

[0021] A driving signal (current) is input to the coil 505 from the driving device 110. When a current flows through the coil 505, the coil 505 moves in the direction of the optical axis OA due to the magnetic force of the first magnet 504a and the second magnet 504b. More specifically, the coil 505 moves in the direction of the optical axis OA due to electromagnetic interaction between the coil 505 through which the current flows and the first magnet 504a and the second magnet 504b. By changing the direction of the current flowing through the coil 505, the moving direction of the coil 505 can be switched between the subject side and the camera body 101 side (image surface side). In addition, by changing the current value of the current flowing through the coil 505, the driving force and moving speed of the coil 505 can be changed.

[0022] In this embodiment, the lens group L3 is a focus lens group, and is moved in the optical axis OA direction by the VCM 50 to perform focus adjustment. More specifically, a yoke and a magnet are provided on the second fixed barrel 20, and a lens holding frame F3 that holds the lens group L3 is connected to a coil 505 of the VCM 50, so that when the coil 505 moves in the optical axis OA direction, the lens group L3 moves in the optical axis OA direction. Note that the lens group L3 may be moved using a stepping motor or an ultrasonic motor instead of the VCM 50.

[0023] Next, the configuration of the lens holding frame F3 will be described. Figures 4(A) and 4(B) are schematic perspective views of the lens holding frame F3, and Figure 5 is a plan view of the lens holding frame F3 as viewed from the subject side. In Figure 4(B), some of the configuration shown in Figure 4(A) is omitted.

[0024] 4(A) and 4(B), the lens holding frame F3 has a tube portion 30 that holds the lens group L3, and the outer periphery of the tube portion 30 is provided with an engagement portion 31 that engages with the guide bar 22, holding portions 33a and 33b that respectively hold the coils 505 (see FIG. 3) of the first VCM 50A and the second VCM 50B, and a scale holding portion 34 that holds the scale portion 60a of the position detector 60. The lens holding frame F3 also has an extension portion 36 that extends from the tube portion 30 in the optical axis OA direction.

[0025] The lens barrel 100 is equipped with a position detector 60 that detects the absolute position of the lens holding frame F3 (lens group L3) in the optical axis OA direction. The position detector 60 is, for example, an optical absolute (ABS) position detector, and has a scale portion 60a and a sensor portion 60b provided opposite the scale portion 60a. In this embodiment, the scale portion 60a is attached to the scale holding portion 34 along the optical axis OA direction, and the sensor portion 60b is attached to the second fixed barrel 20.

[0026] 5, in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA, the position detector 60 is disposed in the smaller region between the guide bar 22 and the second VCM 50B. In addition, in the circumferential direction, the first VCM 50A, the guide bar 22, the position detector 60, the second VCM 50B, and the rotation restriction bar 23 are disposed in this order. In addition, in the plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA, the position detector 60 faces the extension portion 36 with the optical axis OA in between.

[0027] Here, a first flexible substrate FPC1 is connected to the VCM 50, and a second flexible substrate FPC2 is connected to the position detector 60. Figures 6(A) and 6(B) are a perspective view and a plan view, respectively, for explaining the arrangement of the first flexible substrate FPC1 and the second flexible substrate FPC2.

[0028] 6(B), in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA, the first flexible board FPC1 and the second flexible board FPC2 are disposed in the smaller area of the area between the guide bar 22 and the second VCM 50B in the circumferential direction. In this manner, since the first flexible board FPC1 and the second flexible board FPC2 are disposed together, the wiring to the main board 120 disposed inside the lens barrel 100 can be simplified.

[0029] Next, a detailed description will be given of the arrangement position of the position detector 60. First, a description will be given of a plurality of vibration modes that occur in the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 during drive control of the lens holding frame F3.

[0030] The inventors performed a simulation of vibration modes occurring in the lens group L3 and lens holding frame F3 having the above-described configuration. In the simulation, the total mass of the lens group L3 and lens holding frame F3 was assumed to be 55 g to 83 g.

[0031] Figures 7(A) and 7(B) are diagrams for explaining the simulation results, where Figure 7(A) is a cross-sectional view of lens group L3 and lens holding frame F3, and Figure 7(B) is a plan view of lens holding frame F3 as viewed from the subject side.

[0032] As a result of the simulation, peaks (natural frequencies) of the frequency response function (transfer function) were observed at multiple frequencies. For example, when the total mass of the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 was approximately 70 g, peaks of the frequency response function were observed at multiple frequencies including 264 Hz and 481 Hz.

[0033] Here, in the vibration mode (described as mode 2) having the smallest natural frequency (264 Hz), a tilt motion is excited in the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 starting from the engagement portion 31 with the guide bar 22. Specifically, in mode 2, the lens group L3 moves (vibrates) as shown by the dashed line in FIG. 7(A). As shown in FIG. 7(B), this vibration is a vibration in which the vibration amplitude is approximately zero (node) at the position of a straight line B in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA. The straight line B is a straight line that is approximately perpendicular to the straight line A connecting the center of the guide bar 22 and the optical axis OA and passes through the optical axis OA. That is, the angle α between the straight lines A and B is approximately 90°. Here, approximately 90° is, for example, in the range of 80° to 100° or 85° to 95°. In FIG. 7A, to simplify the drawing, the movement of the lens holding frame F3 is omitted, and a plane that includes the straight line B and is perpendicular to the plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA is indicated by PL1.

[0034] On the other hand, in the vibration mode (referred to as mode 3) with the second smallest natural frequency (481 Hz), vibrations with amplitudes of approximately zero (node) are generated in lens group L3 and lens holding frame F3 at the position of straight line A connecting the center of guide bar 22 and the optical axis OA.

[0035] When the vibration mode was actually confirmed in an actual device in which the total mass of the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 was 55 g to 83 g, a node of the vibration mode with the smallest natural frequency was confirmed at the position of the straight line B in Figure 7(B).

[0036] When the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 vibrate, the position detector 60 detects not only the position of the lens holding frame F3 in the optical axis OA direction, but also the displacement of the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 in the optical axis OA direction due to the vibration. This reduces the position detection accuracy of the lens holding frame F3 (lens group L3). The reduction in the position detection accuracy of the lens holding frame F3 leads to a reduction in the focusing accuracy.

[0037] In order to suppress the structural resonance of the controlled object, generally, if the frequency value of the structural resonance of the controlled object is A and the control frequency is B, then B

[0038] If the target value of the control frequency is 70 Hz to 100 Hz, the natural frequency of mode 2 is 264 Hz, and therefore if the control frequency is determined from the above formula based on the natural frequency of mode 2 (264 Hz), the control frequency will be, for example, 52.8 Hz, which is not within the range of the target value. In other words, if the control frequency is determined based on the natural frequency of mode 2, the responsiveness of the drive control of VCM 50 will deteriorate.

[0039] Therefore, in this embodiment, the scale section 60a of the position detector 60 is disposed at a position that becomes a node in mode 2. Specifically, the scale holding section 34 of the lens holding frame F3 is disposed at a position that becomes a node in mode 2, and the scale section 60a is attached to the scale holding section 34. More specifically, the scale section 60a (position detector 60) is disposed so that, in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA, an angle α formed by a straight line A connecting the center of the guide bar 22 and the optical axis OA and a straight line B connecting the scale section 60a and the optical axis OA is approximately 90° (see FIG. 7(B)).

[0040] By positioning the position detector 60 in this manner, even if the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 vibrate in mode 2, the positions of the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 at their nodes are hardly displaced, thereby reducing the effect of the vibration in mode 2 on the detection accuracy of the position detector 60.

[0041] In addition, since the natural frequency of mode 3 is 481 Hz, if the control frequency is determined based on the natural frequency of mode 3, the control frequency becomes 96.2 Hz, which falls within the range of the target value of the control frequency. This makes it possible to improve the responsiveness of the drive control of the VCM 50. In addition, since the control frequency can be set to less than one-fifth of the natural frequency of mode 3, the impact of vibration in mode 3 on the control can be reduced.

[0042] As described above in detail, according to this embodiment, the lens barrel 100 includes the lens holding frame F3 that holds the lens group L3, the second fixed cylinder 20 that is disposed outside the lens holding frame F3, the guide bar 22 that guides the lens holding frame F3 in the optical axis OA direction, the VCM 50 that moves the lens holding frame F3 in the optical axis OA direction, the position detector 60 that detects the position of the lens holding frame F3 in the optical axis OA direction, and the drive device 110 that controls the VCM 50 based on information about the position detected by the position detector 60. The position detector 60 has a scale section 60a that is disposed along the optical axis OA direction, and a sensor section 60b that is disposed opposite the scale section 60a. The lens holding frame F3 holds the scale section 60a, the second fixed cylinder 20 holds the sensor section 60b, and the scale section 60a is disposed in the lens holding frame F3 at a position that corresponds to a node of a vibration mode having the smallest natural frequency among a plurality of vibration modes that occur in the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3. As a result, even if the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 vibrate in the vibration mode with the smallest natural frequency, the positions of the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 hardly change at the position where the position detector 60 is disposed, so that it is possible to reduce the influence of the vibration of the vibration mode with the smallest natural frequency on the detection accuracy of the position detector 60. As a result, it is possible to improve the position detection accuracy of the position detector 60, and therefore it is possible to improve the accuracy (focusing accuracy) of the focusing operation performed based on the detection result of the position detector 60. In addition, since the control frequency can be determined based on the natural frequency of the vibration mode with the second smallest natural frequency, it is possible to set the control frequency to a high value, and it is possible to improve the responsiveness of the drive control of the VCM 50 while reducing the influence of the vibration mode with the second smallest natural frequency on the control.

[0043] In this embodiment, in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA, the angle α between a line A connecting the center of the guide bar 22 and the optical axis OA and a line B connecting the scale unit 60a and the optical axis OA is approximately 90°. When the total mass of the lens group L3 and the lens holding frame F3 is 55 grams or more, the node of mode 2 is located on line B which is approximately perpendicular to line A. Therefore, by arranging the scale unit 60a on line B, the effect of the vibration of mode 2 on the detection accuracy of the position detector 60 can be reduced, and the focusing accuracy can be improved.

[0044] In this embodiment, the VCM 50 includes a first VCM 50A and a second VCM 50B, the first VCM 50A is disposed closer to the guide bar 22 than the second VCM 50B, and the position detector 60 is disposed in the smaller of the regions between the guide bar 22 and the second VCM 50B in the circumferential direction of a circle centered on the optical axis OA. Since the guide bar 22 is disposed close to the first VCM 50A, there is little space, but the configuration of this embodiment makes it possible to efficiently use the space between the guide bar 22 and the second VCM 50B.

[0045] Furthermore, in this embodiment, lens barrel 100 includes a first flexible substrate FPC1 connected to VCM 50 and a second flexible substrate FPC2 connected to position detector 60, and first flexible substrate FPC1 and second flexible substrate FPC2 are disposed in the smaller region between guide bar 22 and second VCM 50B in the circumferential direction of a circle centered on optical axis OA. Since first flexible substrate FPC1 and second flexible substrate FPC2 are disposed together, wiring to main substrate 120 can be simplified.

[0046] In the above embodiment, one position detector 60 is provided, but two position detectors 60 may be provided. In this case, as shown in FIG. 8A, the two position detectors 60 may be provided in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA at positions that are nodes in mode 2, facing each other across the optical axis OA. That is, in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis OA, the position detectors 60 may be provided at two locations where a line B that is approximately perpendicular to a line A that connects the axial center of the guide bar 22 and the optical axis OA intersects with a circle centered on the optical axis OA. By averaging the position information detected by the two position detectors 60, the position detection accuracy of the lens holding frame F3 can be further improved.

[0047] In the above embodiment, the position detector 60 is disposed between the guide bar 22 and the second VCM 50B in the circumferential direction of the circle centered on the optical axis OA, but may be disposed between the first VCM 50A and the rotation restriction bar 23, for example, as shown in Fig. 8(B). Even in this case, the position at which the scale portion 60a of the position detector 60 is disposed is the position that becomes the node in mode 2.

[0048] In the above embodiment, the position detector 60 is an optical ABS position detector that detects the absolute position of the lens holding frame F3, but the position detector 60 may be a position detector that detects the relative position of the lens holding frame F3. The position detector 60 may not be an optical type, but may be, for example, a magnetic type or a photoelectric type.

[0049] In the above embodiment, the scale portion 60a of the position detector 60 is attached to the lens holding frame F3, and the sensor portion 60b is attached to the second fixed barrel 20, but this is not limited to the above. The scale portion 60a may be provided on the second fixed barrel 20, and the sensor portion 60b may be provided on the lens holding frame F3.

[0050] In the above embodiment, the lens holding frame F3 is guided in the optical axis OA direction by the guide bar 22, but this is not limited to this. For example, the lens holding frame F3 may be guided in the optical axis OA direction by a rectilinear groove.

[0051] In the above embodiment, the second fixed barrel 20 that houses the lens holding frame F3 may be a movable barrel that is capable of moving linearly in the direction of the optical axis OA. In the above embodiment, the lens barrel 100 may be a fixed focal length lens or a zoom lens.

[0052] The above-described embodiment is a preferred example, but is not limited thereto, and various modifications are possible without departing from the scope of the present invention, and any combination of components may be used. [Explanation of symbols]
