[0003] [Non-Patent Document 1] 3GPP, “3GPP TS 36.101 V12.24.0”, FRANCE, 2019-12 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] In mobile communications, there is a demand for improved transmission speeds, but transmission speeds tend to drop indoors. In order to improve transmission speeds in such situations, it is necessary to increase signal strength or improve communication quality. As with other wireless communication systems, bringing a transmitting device and a receiving device closer together improves signal strength and communication quality. Home eNodeB (FEMTO CELL) (hereinafter referred to as "low-power base station device") is a low-power base station device that users can install themselves. The low-power base station device connects to a carrier's network through a normal IP (Internet Protocol) connection. The introduction of a low-power base station device increases signal strength, which in turn increases frequency utilization efficiency, extends battery life, and improves transmission speed. It is required to easily determine whether a low-power base station device is necessary.
[0005] The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and has an object to provide a technique for easily determining whether a low-power base station device is necessary. [Means for solving the problem]

[Figure 7] 4 is a flowchart showing a procedure of a determination process performed by the determination device of FIG. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0010] This embodiment relates to a determination device that simply determines whether or not to install a low-power base station device in a communication system such as LTE in which a base station device and a terminal device communicate with each other. The low-power base station device provides short-distance coverage, and is therefore introduced into a communication system to expand indoor coverage in particular. The low-power base station device has a small coverage area, and is therefore realized with low power and low cost. The low-power base station device is used to fill in gaps in coverage and improve network service capabilities. The low-power base station device may use the same frequency as the base station device, or a different frequency.
[0011] The determination device of this embodiment estimates the communication quality and signal strength of the terminal device of the new subscriber based on the address of the new subscriber to the communication system, and also uses the communication quality and signal strength of the terminal devices of the existing subscribers to determine whether or not a low-power base station device needs to be installed. The determination device outputs information on whether or not a low-power base station device needs to be installed for the new subscriber or the existing subscriber.
[0012] FIG. 1 shows a configuration of a communication system 1000. The communication system 1000 includes a first base station device 10a to an eleventh base station device 10k, which are collectively referred to as base station devices 10. The number of base station devices 10 included in the communication system 1000 is not "eleven." Each base station device 10 includes three sector antennas. A communication area 12 is formed by one sector antenna. The communication area 12 is a range in which a signal from one sector antenna in one base station device 10 can be received, that is, a range in which communication with the base station device 10 can be performed. Such a communication area 12 is formed for each sector antenna.
[0013] If the new subscriber's terminal device is present within any of the communication coverage areas 12, the terminal device will communicate with the base station device 10 that forms the communication coverage area 12. In this case, it is not necessary to install a low-power base station device for the new subscriber. However, if the new subscriber's terminal device is outside any of the communication coverage areas 12, or if the new subscriber's terminal device is in a hole in the communication coverage area 12, a low-power base station device is required to cover the area in which the new subscriber's terminal device is present. The same applies to existing subscribers.
[0014] Under such circumstances, in order to stably provide high-speed wireless communication by the communication system 1000, it is necessary to accurately and easily identify the location where a low-power base station device should be installed. The communication system 1000 according to this embodiment identifies the terminal device of an existing subscriber whose communication quality is degraded based on the measurement result of an actual network. In addition, the communication system 1000 identifies a new subscriber who needs to have a low-power base station device installed based on the communication quality of the terminal device of an existing subscriber close to the address of the new subscriber.
[0015] 2 shows a configuration of a communication system 1000. The communication system 1000 includes a base station device 10, a terminal device 14, a network 100, a management system 200, and a determination device 300, and the management system 200 includes an OSS (Operation Support System) 210, an EMS (Element Management System) 212, an eSON (Self Organizing Network) 214, and a cell trace log 216. The management system 200 may be configured by one device or may be configured by multiple devices.
[0016] The terminal device 14 is a wireless device used by an existing subscriber. The terminal device 14 is connected to the base station device 10. The network 100 is a core network that connects the base station devices 10. A management system 200 and a determination device 300 are also connected to the network 100. The OSS 210 is a system that supports the operation of the communication system 1000. The OSS 210 measures various items and outputs the measurement results as KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). The EMS 212 is included in a network management system that serves as a human interface of the communication system 1000 for an operator who maintains and manages the communication system 1000, and is a system that directly manages network devices, for example, the base station device 10.
[0017] The eSON 214 collects and analyzes measurement data of network quality from the base station equipment 10 and terminal equipment 14 in operation, and the communication system 1000 autonomously performs control to optimize the operation of the base station equipment 10. The cell trace log 216 stores the history of the measurement results related to the base station equipment 10. Since the OSS 210, the EMS 212, the eSON 214, and the cell trace log 216 may use known techniques, a description thereof will be omitted here.
[0018] The determination device 300 is connected to the management system 200 via the network 100 and receives data from the management system 200. Based on the data, the determination device 300 determines whether or not a low-power base station device (not shown) needs to be installed for a new subscriber or an existing subscriber.
[0019] 3 shows the configuration of the determination device 300. The determination device 300 includes an acquisition unit 310, a terminal device processing unit 312, a storage unit 314, an input unit 320, an object processing unit 322, and a determination processing unit 324. The following describes (1) processing for existing subscribers, and (2) processing for new subscribers, in that order.
[0020] The OSS 210, the EMS 212, the eSON 214, and the cell trace log 216 acquire information on the terminal device 14 connected to the base station device 10 in real time. The OSS 210, the EMS 212, the eSON 214, and the cell trace log 216 periodically transmit the information on the terminal device 14 to the determination device 300. Periodically means, for example, once a day.
[0021] The acquisition unit 310 of the determination device 300 receives information from the OSS 210, the EMS 212, the eSON 214, and the cell trace log 216. Specifically, the acquisition unit 310 receives the handover success rate from the OSS 210 or the EMS 212. The handover success rate is included in the information related to the mobility of the terminal device 14.
[0022] The acquisition unit 310 acquires the average value of the uplink MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) and the average value of the downlink MCS from the cell trace log 216, and acquires the SINR (Signal to Interference and Noise power Ratio) and the cell edge user performance from the eSON 214. The MCS is a value indicating the modulation scheme and the coding rate of the error rate in the communication between the base station device 10 and the terminal device 14, and corresponds to the transmission speed in the communication between the base station device 10 and the terminal device 14. The MCS indicates, for example, any value from 0 to 28. The closer the MCS is to "0", the lower the transmission speed, and the closer the MCS is to "28", the higher the transmission speed. The average value of the uplink MCS, the average value of the downlink MCS, the SINR, and the cell edge user performance are included in the information on the quality of the signal in the terminal device 14.
[0023] The acquisition unit 310 acquires RSRP (Reference Signal Received Power) from the cell trace log 216. RSRP is the received power of RS per resource element (bandwidth 15 kHz). RS is a known signal that is transmitted evenly in both the frequency domain and the time domain. RSRP is included in information related to the coverage of the base station device 10.
[0024] The acquisition unit 310 acquires the number of measurement reports, the time of the same RF state, and TA (Timing Advance) from the cell trace log 216. The TA control is a function of adjusting the transmission timing of each terminal device 14 in order to match the reception timing of signals from each terminal device 14 in one base station device 10. The TA is a parameter for specifying the transmission timing of the terminal device 14, and indicates, for example, any value from 0 to 13. The closer the TA is to "0", the later the transmission timing of the terminal device 14 is, and the closer the TA is to "13", the earlier the transmission timing of the terminal device 14 is. This corresponds to the closer the TA is to "0", the closer the terminal device 14 is to the base station device 10, and the closer the TA is to "13", the farther the terminal device 14 is from the base station device 10. The number of measurement reports, the time of the same RF state, and TA are included in the information regarding the operation status of the terminal device 14.
[0025] The terminal device processing unit 312 determines whether or not the terminal device 14 requires a low-power base station device for communication based on the information on the mobility of the terminal device 14 acquired by the acquisition unit 310, the information on the quality of the signal in the terminal device 14, the information on the coverage of the base station device 10, and the information on the operation status of the terminal device 14. FIG. 4 shows the data structure of a table stored in the storage unit 314. As shown in the figure, conditions for each parameter are shown. If these conditions are met, the terminal device processing unit 312 determines that the terminal device 14 requires a low-power base station device for communication. On the other hand, if at least one of these conditions is not met, the terminal device processing unit 312 determines that the terminal device 14 does not require a low-power base station device for communication.
[0026] That is, if the deterioration of communication quality in the terminal device 14 of an existing subscriber continues for a certain period of time, it is determined that a low-power base station device should be installed to improve the communication quality. For example, a situation in which communication quality is deteriorated occurs when the terminal device 14 is in a poor environment such as indoors, or when it is in a hole in the communication coverage area 12. An example of a certain period of time is three days. Return to FIG. 3. The terminal device processing unit 312 stores information about the terminal device 14 in the storage unit 314. The information about the terminal device 14 includes the determination result, information for identifying the terminal device 14, information about the base station device 10 to which the terminal device 14 is connected, and information about the communication between the base station device 10 and the terminal device 14.
[0027] The input unit 320 accepts an address to be determined. The address to be determined is, for example, the address of a new subscriber. The address of the new subscriber is written, for example, on a subscription application form, and is input to the input unit 320 using a user interface. The input unit 320 converts the address into location information by referring to a table showing the correspondence between addresses and location information. The location information is indicated, for example, by a combination of latitude and longitude. This table is held in the memory unit 314, but may also be held in an external device (not shown) connected to the network 100. The input unit 320 outputs the location information to the target processing unit 322.
[0028] In order to explain the processing in the target processing unit 322, FIG. 5(a)-(b) are also used here. FIG. 5(a)-(b) shows an overview of the processing in the target processing unit 322. FIG. 5(a) shows an example of a communication coverage area 12 formed for one sector antenna of one base station device 10. The communication coverage area 12 is an area in which communication with the base station device 10 is possible, and is an area in which the RSRP for the base station device 10 is, for example, -105 dBm or more. This corresponds to an area in which the quality required for performing communication between the base station device 10 and the terminal device 14 can be guaranteed. The communication coverage area 12 is derived by ray tracing simulation. Since a known technique may be used for the ray tracing simulation, a description thereof will be omitted here. FIG. 5(b) shows an expanded area 20 that includes the communication coverage area 12 in FIG. 5(a) inside. The expanded area 20 has a polygonal shape, for example, a rectangle, and each side of the rectangle has a size that contacts the communication coverage area 12. The communication coverage area 12 and the extended area 20 are formed for each array antenna of each base station device 10. Return to FIG.
[0029] Such information on the communication coverage area 12 and the expanded area 20 is stored in the storage unit 314. The information on the communication coverage area 12 and the expanded area 20 includes location information indicating the range of the communication coverage area 12 and location information indicating the range of the expanded area 20. The information on the communication coverage area 12 and the expanded area 20 also includes information on the base station device 10 corresponding to the communication coverage area 12 and the expanded area 20. The target processing unit 322 judges whether the location information received by the input unit 320 is included in any of the expanded areas 20 while referring to the determination processing unit 324. If the location information is not included in any of the expanded areas 20, the target processing unit 322 judges that the new subscriber is not covered by the service of the communication system 1000. On the other hand, if the location information is included in any of the expanded areas 20, the target processing unit 322 judges whether the location information is included in the communication coverage area 12 inside the expanded area 20.
[0030] When the location information is included in the communication coverage area 12, the target processing unit 322 determines that the new subscriber can communicate with the base station device 10 that forms the communication coverage area 12. This base station device 10 provides the best cell for the new subscriber. The target processing unit 322 outputs information indicating that communication is possible and information about the new subscriber to the determination processing unit 324. On the other hand, when the location information is not included in the communication coverage area 12, the target processing unit 322 determines that there is a possibility that the communication quality between the new subscriber and the base station device 10 is insufficient. In addition, the target processing unit 322 outputs information indicating that there is a possibility that the communication quality between the new subscriber and the base station device 10 is insufficient, information about the new subscriber, and information about the base station device 10 to the determination processing unit 324.
[0031] When the determination processing unit 324 receives information indicating that communication is possible from the target processing unit 322, it determines that installation of a low power base station device is unnecessary for the new subscriber. The determination processing unit 324 outputs to the outside the information indicating that installation of a low power base station device is unnecessary and the information of the new subscriber.
[0032] When the determination processing unit 324 receives information indicating that the communication quality between the new subscriber and the base station device 10 may be insufficient from the target processing unit 322, the determination processing unit 324 executes processing for determining whether or not a low-power base station device needs to be installed for the new subscriber (hereinafter referred to as "determination processing"). FIG. 6 shows an overview of the processing in the determination processing unit 324. The base station device 10 is the base station device 10 indicated in the information of the base station device 10, and includes the location information of the new subscriber in the expanded area 20. The base station device 10 and the new subscriber are separated by a geographical distance.
[0033] The determination processing unit 324 also requests the terminal device processing unit 312 to output information on the terminal device 14 connected to the base station device 10. If information on the terminal device 14 stored in the storage unit 314 includes information on the terminal device 14 connected to the base station device 10, the terminal device processing unit 312 outputs the corresponding information to the determination processing unit 324. In this case, if multiple terminal devices 14 are connected to the base station device 10, the terminal device processing unit 312 outputs information on each of the multiple terminal devices 14. The determination processing unit 324 selects information on the terminal device 14 whose TA is "1" or less from the information received from the terminal device processing unit 312. The information on the terminal device 14 includes location information of the terminal device 14. Furthermore, a TA of "1" or less corresponds to the terminal device 14 being within a certain distance from the base station device 10.
[0034] The determination processing unit 324 derives the distance between the new subscriber and the terminal device 14 from the location information of the new subscriber and the location information of the terminal device 14. For example, vector calculation is used to derive the distance. If the distance is equal to or less than the threshold value, the determination processing unit 324 reflects the determination result of the terminal device processing unit 312 for the terminal device 14 to the new subscriber. The threshold value is, for example, "50 m." If the determination result is "the terminal device 14 needs a low-power base station device for communication," the determination processing unit 324 determines that the installation of a low-power base station device is necessary for the new subscriber. On the other hand, if the determination result is "the terminal device 14 does not need a low-power base station device for communication," the determination processing unit 324 determines that the installation of a low-power base station device is not necessary for the new subscriber. In other words, if the terminal device 14 connected to the base station device 10 needs a low-power base station device for communication, if the distance between the terminal device 14 and the new subscriber is within the threshold value, it is determined that the new subscriber needs a low-power base station device for communication. In the above configuration, for example, the object processing unit 322 corresponds to a "first processing unit," the determination processing unit 324 corresponds to a "second processing unit," and the terminal device processing unit 312 corresponds to a "third processing unit."
[0035] This configuration can be realized in hardware terms by any computer's CPU (Central Processing Unit), memory, and other LSIs (Large Scale Integration), and in software terms by programs loaded into memory, but here we depict the functional blocks realized by their cooperation. Therefore, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that these functional blocks can be realized in various forms by hardware alone or a combination of hardware and software.
[0036] The operation of the determination device 300 with the above configuration will be described. FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing the procedure of the determination process by the determination device 300. The input unit 320 converts the address of the new subscriber into location information (S10). If the location information is included in the expanded area 20 (Y of S12) but not included in the communication area 12 (N of S14), if there is a terminal device 14 connected to the same base station device 10 (Y of S16), and if the terminal device 14 needs a low-power base station device (Y of S18), the determination processing unit 324 determines that a low-power base station device is needed (S20). If it is included in the communication area 12 (Y of S14), the determination processing unit 324 determines that a low-power base station device is not needed (S22). If the location information is not included in the expanded area 20 (N of S12), or if there is no terminal device 14 connected to the same base station device 10 (N of S16), or if the terminal device 14 does not need a low-power base station device (N of S18), the process is terminated.
[0037] According to this embodiment, when the location information is included in the expanded area but not included in the communication coverage area, if a terminal device connected to the same base station device needs a low-power base station device for communication and the distance between the terminal device and the new subscriber is within a threshold value, it is determined that the new subscriber needs a low-power base station device, so that it is possible to easily determine whether a low-power base station device is required. Also, when the location information is included in the expanded area but not included in the communication coverage area, if a terminal device connected to the same base station device needs a low-power base station device for communication and the distance between the terminal device and the new subscriber is within a threshold value, it is determined that the new subscriber needs a low-power base station device, so that it is possible to accurately determine whether a low-power base station device is required.
[0038] In addition, since the address of a new subscriber is accepted and the address is converted into location information, the input process can be simplified. Furthermore, since the enlarged area has a polygonal shape and each side of the polygon is in contact with the communication coverage area, the process can be simplified. Furthermore, since the terminal device is present within a certain distance from the specified base station device, the accuracy of the determination can be improved. Furthermore, since it is determined whether the terminal device needs a low-power base station device based on information on the mobility of the terminal device, information on the quality of the signal in the terminal device, information on the coverage of the base station device, and information on the operating status of the terminal device, the accuracy of the determination can be improved. Furthermore, since it is determined whether the terminal device needs a low-power base station device based on information on the mobility of the terminal device, information on the quality of the signal in the terminal device, information on the coverage of the base station device, and information on the operating status of the terminal device, the determination process can be simplified.
[0039] The present disclosure has been described above based on examples. The examples are merely illustrative, and it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various modifications are possible in the combination of each component or each treatment process, and that such modifications are also within the scope of the present disclosure.
[0040] The determination device 300 in this embodiment determines whether or not a low-power base station device is necessary for a new subscriber, and outputs the determination result. However, this is not limited to the above, and for example, the determination device 300 may determine whether or not a low-power base station device is necessary for an existing subscriber, and output the determination result. In other words, the determination result of the terminal device processing unit 312 may be output. According to this modification, the degree of freedom of configuration can be improved.
