Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a coating composition capable of forming a coating film that has excellent hydrophilicity, oil repellency, and contaminant removability, and to a coated article using the same. [Background technology]
[0002] Known methods for preventing contamination or making materials easily cleanable include making the surface of the material oil-repellent to make it difficult for contaminants to adhere, and making the surface of the material hydrophilic to wash away contaminants together with water. Generally, material surfaces coated with paints using ordinary resin compositions have a relatively large water contact angle and are water-repellent, but have a small oil contact angle and are easily compatible with oil, so they do not have sufficient resistance to contamination and are not material surfaces that are resistant to contamination.
[0003] Various methods for making surfaces oil-repellent have been studied. For example, it is known that an alkyl fluorine-based compound or the like is used to make the surface oil-repellent. Patent Document 1 discloses a dirt-adhesion inhibitor composition that contains at least one resin selected from the group consisting of fluorine-based resins, acrylic resins, and urethane resins, a water- and oil-repellent agent, and a solvent.
[0004] However, although coating films obtained from coating compositions containing alkyl fluorine compounds such as those described in Patent Document 1 have the effect of making them less susceptible to dirt, once dirt has adhered to them, they are difficult to clean and have little self-cleaning effect with water, so they often do not provide sufficient contamination prevention effects. [0025] In this specification, the glass transition temperature Tg of the hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin is a value calculated by the following formula. 1 / Tg(K)=W1 / T1+W2 / T2+...Wn / Tn Tg(℃)=Tg(K)-273 In the formula, W1, W2, ···Wn are the mass fractions of each monomer, and T1, T2 ···Tn are the glass transition temperatures Tg (K) of the homopolymers of each monomer. The glass transition temperatures of the homopolymers of each monomer are values taken from POLYMER HANDBOOK Fourth Edition, edited by J. Brandrup, Eh Immergut, and E.A. Grulke (1999). For the glass transition temperatures of monomers not described in the literature, the values used are those obtained by synthesizing a homopolymer of the monomer so as to have a weight-average molecular weight of about 50,000 and measuring the glass transition temperature by differential scanning calorimetry.
[0026] The weight average molecular weight of the hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin (A) is preferably within the range of 3,000 to 100,000, particularly 4,000 to 20,000, and more particularly 5,000 to 10,000, from the viewpoint of the hydrophilicity, oil repellency and contaminant removability of the coating film.
[0027] In this specification, the weight-average molecular weight and number-average molecular weight are values obtained by converting the retention time (retention volume) measured using a gel permeation chromatograph (GPC) into the molecular weight of polystyrene using the retention time (retention volume) of standard polystyrene of known molecular weight measured under the same conditions. Four columns, "TSKgel G-4000HxL," "TSKgel G-3000HxL," "TSKgel G-2500HxL," and "TSKgel G-2000HxL" (all trade names, manufactured by Tosoh Corporation), were used, and the conditions for the mobile phase were tetrahydrofuran, the measurement temperature was 40°C, the flow rate was 1 ml / min, and the detector was RI.

[0082] The shape of the object to be coated may be flat or three-dimensional, for example, a film and a substrate, or a three-dimensionally processed molded object.
[0083] The above-mentioned substrate may be one that has been degreased, surface-treated and coated with a primer composition.
[0084] <Painting> The coating method of the coating composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, and can be carried out by coating methods such as air spray, airless spray, rotary atomization coating, curtain coating, and the like. These coating methods may be carried out with electrostatic application, if necessary. The coating amount of the coating composition of the present invention is usually preferably an amount that results in a cured film thickness of about 20 to 100 μm.
[0085] In addition, when applying the coating composition of the present invention, it is preferable to adjust the viscosity of the coating composition using a solvent such as an organic solvent so that it falls within a viscosity range suitable for the coating method; for example, in the case of rotary atomization coating, the viscosity falls within a range of about 15 to 40 seconds when measured at 20°C using a Ford Cup No. 4 viscometer.
[0086] The coating film formed from the coating composition of the present invention can be heated by known means, for example, a drying oven such as a hot air oven, an electric oven, or an infrared induction heating oven. The heating temperature is suitably in the range of 60 to 180°C, preferably 80 to 160°C. The heating time is not particularly limited, but is preferably in the range of 5 to 120 minutes, more preferably 10 to 60 minutes.
[0087] In particular, when the substrate is an organic material and its melting point is 100°C or higher, it is appropriate to set the heating temperature within the range of 60 to 180°C, preferably 80 to 160°C, and when the substrate has a melting point of less than 140°C, it is appropriate to set the heating temperature within the range of 60 to 90°C, preferably 65 to 85°C.
[0088] The heating time is not particularly limited, but is preferably within the range of 10 to 130 minutes, more preferably 10 to 120 minutes. [Example]

[0101] Creating the object to be painted Object to be coated The substrate was a pretreated steel plate measuring 200 mm x 200 mm x 0.8 mm.
[0102] Creating test panels Each of the above coating compositions Nos. 1 to 20 was applied to the substrate using an air spray to a film thickness of 40 μm, and after setting at room temperature for 10 minutes, the coating was heated to 90°C for 30 minutes to cure, thereby obtaining corresponding test panels coated with each of the coating compositions Nos. 1 to 20.
[0103] Evaluation Test The obtained test panels were evaluated by the following test methods, and the evaluation results are shown in Table 3.
[0104] initial water contact angle At least 24 hours after the preparation of the test plate, 1.0 μL of distilled water was dropped onto the test plate, and the contact angle (unit: °) was measured 5 seconds later. The contact angle meter used for the contact angle measurement was the "CA-X150 Model" (manufactured by Kyowa Interface Science Co., Ltd.).
[0105] Initial oleic acid contact angle At least 24 hours after the preparation of the test plate, 1.0 μL of oleic acid was dropped onto the test plate, and the contact angle (unit: °) was measured 5 seconds later. The contact angle measurement was performed using a contact angle meter, "CA-X150 Model" (manufactured by Kyowa Interface Science Co., Ltd.).
[0106] Contact angle of oleic acid in water After 24 hours or more had passed since the preparation of the test plate, a 2 μl oil droplet of oleic acid was dropped onto the coating surface immersed in water at 20°C using a micropipette, and the state of the oil droplet after 10 seconds was photographed with a digital camera, and the contact angle (unit: °) was measured by reading it from the image. The contact angle meter used for the contact angle measurement was "DMo-502" (manufactured by Kyowa Interface Science Co., Ltd.).
[0107] Oil stain removal (pollutant removal) Black-colored oleic acid was applied to a 200mm x 200mm test plate, which was then gently shaken in water for 30 seconds, after which the oil removal rate was evaluated on a scale of 0% to 100%. The oil remaining rate was calculated by binarizing a photo taken with a digital camera on a computer and calculating the area Sa of the dirty area (oil-adhered area). See the following formula. *Total area of test plate Sc = 4000mm 2 Dirt removal rate (Dr) = {1-(Sa / Sc)} x 100 (%) ◎: Dirt removal rate is 80% or more Good: Dirt removal rate is 50% or more but less than 80% △: Dirt removal rate is 20% or more but less than 50% ×: Dirt removal rate is less than 20%
