Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to female connectors, and more particularly to female connectors used in neuroanesthesia applications. [Background technology]
[0002] In the medical field, connectors for connecting tubes and the like are widely used. Conventionally, standard connectors called Luer connectors have been used, but if all connectors were of the same standard, there is a risk of accidents such as mistakenly connecting an enteral nutrition circuit to an extracorporeal blood circulation circuit. For this reason, new international standards have been established that require connectors of different shapes for each field in order to prevent incorrect connections (see, for example, Non-Patent Document 1).
[0003] For example, in the field of enteral nutrition, connectors that comply with the International Organization for Standardization standard ISO80369-3 are required, while in the field of neuroanesthesia, connectors that comply with ISO80369-6 are required.
[0004] Development of devices using connectors that comply with these new standards is also underway. [Prior art documents] [Non-patent literature]
[0005] [Non-Patent Document 1] ISO80369-6 standard document Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0006] However, because connectors conforming to the new standards have different shapes from conventional connectors, problems may occur if they are operated in the same way as conventional connectors. For example, a male connector conforming to ISO 80369-6 includes a plug portion with a 5% taper angle and a collar portion surrounding the plug portion. The collar portion is cylindrical and concentric with the plug portion. The ISO standard stipulates that the position of the collar portion's end on the female connector side must be aligned with the position of the plug portion's end within a range of ±0.4 mm, and the plug portion does not substantially protrude from the collar portion. Therefore, in the case of a female connector conforming to ISO 80369-6, the length of the inner tube is longer than that of conventional connectors in which the plug portion protrudes from the collar portion in order to prevent interference with the collar portion. Furthermore, because the standard also stipulates the spacing between the plug portion and the collar portion, it is difficult to increase the wall thickness of the inner tube. Connectors that comply with ISO 80369-6 are required to be made from strong materials with a flexural modulus or tensile modulus of over 950 MPa, but the inner tube is weaker than connectors that meet conventional standards, making them more susceptible to structural damage.
[0007] An object of the present disclosure is to realize a female connector that complies with new standards and is less likely to cause problems even when using conventional operating methods, thereby reducing the burden on users. [Means for solving the problem]
[0008] A first aspect of the female connector of the present disclosure comprises an inner tubular portion into which the plug portion of a male connector conforming to ISO 80369-6 having a plug portion and a collar portion is inserted, and an outer tubular portion that forms a collar portion insertion recess around the inner tubular portion into which at least a portion of the collar portion is inserted.
[0009] In the first aspect of the female connector, the outer tube portion guides the collar portion of the male connector, making it less likely for the axis of the male connector to shift, thereby making it less likely for the inner tube portion to be damaged and improving reliability.
[0010] In the first aspect of the female connector, when the plug portion of the male connector is inserted into and engaged with the inner cylindrical portion, a portion of the collar portion of the male connector that is 1.7 mm or more in length is inserted into the collar portion insertion recess. This configuration makes it even more difficult for the inner cylindrical portion to be damaged.
[0011] In the first aspect of the female connector, the inner and outer cylindrical portions can be integrally molded, which facilitates molding.
[0012] In the first aspect of the female connector, the inner tube has an inner tube engaging portion, the outer tube has an outer tube engaging portion that engages with the inner tube engaging portion, and the outer tube is attached to the inner tube by engaging the outer tube engaging portion with the inner tube engaging portion. With this configuration, it is possible to easily provide an outer tube as needed.
[0013] In this case, the outer tube portion can have a side opening with a sector-shaped portion cut out with a central angle of 90° or more and less than 120°, and the outer tube portion can be configured to be attached to the inner tube portion from the side of the side opening. The outer tube portion engaging portion can also be configured to climb over the inner tube portion engaging portion and abut against a portion of the inner tube portion closer to the base than the inner tube portion engaging portion. This configuration allows the outer tube portion to be easily attached.
[0014] In a first aspect of the female connector, the outer tube portion has a main tube portion having a side opening formed by cutting out a portion of the side wall, and a connecting portion connected to the main tube portion so as to complement the side opening, and the outer tube portion engaging portion has a first portion provided on the main tube portion and a second portion provided on the connecting portion, and by connecting the connecting portion to the main tube portion with the first portion engaged with the inner tube portion engaging portion, the first portion and the second portion can be engaged with the inner tube portion engaging portion. This configuration makes it possible to easily attach the outer tube portion and makes it less likely for the outer tube portion to wobble, making it more unlikely for the inner tube portion to be damaged.
[0015] In this case, the inner cylindrical portion is disposed adjacent to the flexible tube, and the connecting portion may be recessed so that the outer surface of the side wall does not come into contact with the flexible tube. By adopting such a configuration, it is possible to reduce the likelihood of damage or kinking occurring in the tube disposed adjacent to the inner cylindrical portion.
[0016] In the first aspect of the female connector, the outer tubular portion may have a cap that covers the inner tubular portion. By adopting such a configuration, contamination of the inner tubular portion can be made less likely to occur.
[0017] A second aspect of the female connector of the present disclosure has a plug portion and a collar portion that conforms to the ISO standard for misconnection-preventing connectors in the field of neuroanesthesia, and is equipped with an inner tube portion into which the plug portion of a male connector is inserted, where the plug portion does not protrude from the collar portion, and an outer tube portion that forms a collar portion insertion recess around the inner tube portion into which at least a portion of the collar portion is inserted. [Effects of the Invention]
[0018] The female connector of the present disclosure can prevent problems under the new standards and reduce the burden on users. [Brief explanation of the drawings]

[0020] 1, female connector 100 of this embodiment includes inner cylinder 101 protruding from base 104, and outer cylinder 102 disposed around inner cylinder 101. Plug 201 of male connector 200 is inserted into inner cylinder 101 and fits liquid-tightly. Outer cylinder 102 forms collar insertion recess 103 between outer cylinder 102 and inner cylinder 101, into which collar 202 of male connector 200 is inserted.
[0021] The male connector 200 complies with ISO 80369-6, an international standard for connectors preventing interconnection in the field of neuroanesthesia. It includes a plug portion 201 with a 5% taper angle and a collar portion surrounding the plug portion 201. The collar portion 202 is cylindrical and concentric with the plug portion 201. The ISO standard stipulates that the end of the collar portion 202 on the female connector 100 side must be aligned with the end of the plug portion 201 within a range of ±0.4 mm, and the plug portion 201 does not substantially protrude from the collar portion 202. Therefore, in the case of a female connector conforming to ISO 80369-6, the length of the inner tube is longer than in connectors conforming to conventional standards in which the plug portion protrudes from the collar portion, in order to prevent interference with the collar portion. Furthermore, because the spacing between the plug portion and the collar portion is also stipulated by the standard, it is difficult to increase the thickness of the inner tube, and the inner tube is therefore thinner than the collar portion. As a result, connectors that comply with ISO80369-6 have weaker inner cylinders than connectors that comply with conventional standards, making them more susceptible to structural damage.
[0022] The female connector 100 of this embodiment has an outer tube 102 that forms a collar insertion recess 103. By providing the outer tube 102, a portion of the collar 202 is accommodated inside the outer tube 102 in a proximal or abutting state when the inner tube and the plug are engaged. Providing such an outer tube 102 guides the collar 202, making it possible to minimize the angle of tilt of the axis of the male connector 200 relative to the axis of the female connector 100. Furthermore, because the collar 202 contacts the outer tube 102 when the axis tilts, the force applied to the inner tube 101 can be dispersed. This significantly reduces the risk of damage to the inner tube 101. Note that the term "proximal" here means that there is a slight gap between the outer surface of the collar 201 and the inner surface of the outer tube 102, preferably 2.0 mm or less, and more preferably 0.65 mm or less.
[0023] When the male connector 200 is connected to the female connector 100, at least a portion of the collar portion 202 conforming to ISO 80369-6 is positioned within the collar portion insertion recess 103. The insertion depth D of the collar portion 202 into the collar portion insertion recess 103 when the inner tubular portion 101 and the plug portion 201 are in abutting and sealed state is preferably 1.5 mm or more, more preferably 1.7 mm or more, from the viewpoint of improving breakage resistance. From the viewpoint of improving breakage resistance, a longer insertion depth D is preferable, and the insertion depth D is preferably longer than the distance between the inner tubular portion 101 and the outer tubular portion 102, and the outer tubular portion 102 is preferably at least half the length of the inner tubular portion 101. Therefore, the entire or almost entire collar portion 202 can be inserted. On the other hand, to facilitate insertion of the collar portion 202, only a portion of the collar portion 202 can be inserted into the insertion recess 103. The length L2 of the outer tube portion 102 from the base 104 can be made smaller than the length L1 of the inner tube portion 101, but it is also possible for the outer tube portion 102 to cover almost the entire collar portion 202, and the length L2 of the outer tube portion 102 from the base 104 may be made equal to or greater than the length L1 of the inner tube portion 101.
[0024] Furthermore, when complying with ISO80369-6, in order to allow the collar portion 202 to be inserted and to guide the collar portion 202 while keeping the angle of inclination relative to the axis of the female connector 100 small, the inner diameter of the outer tube portion 102 is preferably 8.85 mm or more, more preferably 11.5 mm or more, preferably 13.5 mm or less, and more preferably 12.8 mm or less.
[0025] In Figure 1, a configuration is shown in which the outer tube portion 102 protrudes from the base 104 of the female connector 100, but it is also possible to configure the entire side surface of the female connector 100 to be the outer tube portion 102A, as in the first modified example shown in Figure 2.
[0026] The inner and outer cylindrical portions can be integrally molded from resin. Alternatively, the inner and outer cylindrical portions can be molded separately and then integrated by gluing, fusing, or the like. Alternatively, the outer cylindrical portion can be attached to the inner cylindrical portion as a separate component. This configuration allows the female connector without an outer cylindrical portion and the female connector with an outer cylindrical portion to have the same design.
[0027] In a second modified example shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 , an outer tube portion 102B having a side opening 122 is attached to an inner tube portion 101. An inner tube portion engaging portion 111, which is a flange-shaped protrusion, is provided on the base side of the inner tube portion 101, and an outer tube portion engaging portion 121 that engages with the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 is provided on the base side of the outer tube portion 102B. The outer tube portion engaging portion 121 is a flange-shaped portion that protrudes inward and is C-shaped when viewed from the base side, and a step portion 123 is provided on the surface of the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 on the opening side into which the collar portion 202 is inserted. The inner diameter of the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 is approximately the same as the outer diameter of the portion of the inner tube portion 101 closer to the base than the inner tube portion engaging portion 111, and the inner diameter of the step portion 123 is approximately the same as the outer diameter of the inner tube portion engaging portion 111.
[0028] When attaching the outer tube portion 102B to the inner tube portion 101, first, the outer tube portion 112B is pressed against the inner tube portion 101 from the side of the side opening 122, with the outer tube portion engagement portion 121 positioned closer to the base of the inner tube portion 101 than the inner tube portion engagement portion 111. The inner tube portion 101 presses and expands the side opening 122, and the outer tube portion 102 moves to a position where the inner circumferential surface of the outer tube portion engagement portion 121 abuts against the outer circumferential surface of the inner tube portion 101 and the stepped portion 123 abuts against the inner tube portion engagement portion 111, after which the side opening 122 returns to its original position. As a result, the outer tube portion 102B is stably fixed around the inner tube portion 101. Note that another fixing means may be used as a means for fixing the inner and outer tube portions. It is also preferable to increase the friction between the inner cylinder engaging portion 111 and the outer cylinder engaging portion 121 so that the outer cylinder 102B does not rotate around the inner cylinder 101 or does not rotate unless a large force is applied. A rotation prevention mechanism may also be provided. However, the outer cylinder 102B may be allowed to rotate freely as long as it does not fall off.
[0029] The side opening 122, in which a portion of the outer tube portion 102B is cut out in a fan shape, can suitably engage the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 and the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 if the central angle of the cutout portion is less than 120°, but from the viewpoint of making it difficult for the outer tube portion 102B to come off and from the viewpoint of guiding the collar portion 202, the central angle is preferably 90° or more.
[0030] As shown in a third modified example in FIG. 5, the outer tube portion 102C may be formed by assembling two semi-cylindrical semi-cylindrical members 125 and 126. This allows the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 to engage with the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 without forcing them together, facilitating attachment of the outer tube portion 102. While FIG. 5 illustrates an example in which the semi-cylindrical members 125 and 126 are provided with recesses and protrusions that engage with each other, this method is not limiting and any method may be used as long as the two semi-cylindrical members can be assembled together. For example, the two semi-cylindrical members may be connected together using an adhesive or the like. Alternatively, the two semi-cylindrical members may be connected by a hinge. The outer tube portion 102 may also be formed by assembling three or more members.
[0031] 5 shows a configuration in which, when the semi-cylindrical member 125 and the semi-cylindrical member 126 are assembled, an outer cylinder portion engaging portion 121 is formed in a flange shape that surrounds the entire circumference of the inner cylinder portion 101. However, the outer cylinder portion engaging portion 121 does not have to be a flange shape that surrounds the entire circumference, and can also be a protrusion provided in two or more locations, preferably three or more locations.
[0032] As shown in a fourth modified example in FIG. 6 , the outer tube portion 102D may be configured such that the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 rides over the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 toward the base portion in the axial direction. In FIG. 6 , the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 has an inclined surface whose outer diameter gradually increases toward the base portion of the inner tube portion 101, and the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 has an inclined surface whose inner diameter gradually increases toward the base portion. The outer tube portion engaging portion 121 is formed with a thickness that allows it to elastically deform and expand in diameter. When the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 is pressed against the inner tube portion engaging portion 111, the inclined surfaces abut against each other, allowing the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 to easily elastically deform and expand in diameter, thereby riding over the inner tube portion engaging portion 111. This allows the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 and the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 to engage with each other, thereby easily attaching the outer tube portion 102D to the inner tube portion 101. On the other hand, in the opposite direction, the outer cylinder portion engaging portion 121 does not easily climb over the inner cylinder portion engaging portion 111, making it difficult for the outer cylinder portion 102 to come off.
[0033] By providing opposing slopes on both the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 and the outer tube portion engaging portion 121, it is possible to easily attach the outer tube portion 102D to the inner tube portion 101 and to make it difficult for the outer tube portion 102D to come off. However, as long as the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 can climb over the inner tube portion engaging portion 111, it is also possible to provide a slope on only one of the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 and the outer tube portion engaging portion 121, or to configure neither of them to have a slope. Furthermore, while one of the inner tube portion engaging portion 111 and the outer tube portion engaging portion 121 is provided in a flange-like shape around the entire circumference, the other can have protrusions provided in two or more locations, preferably three or more locations. Note that the protrusions are preferably provided at equal intervals around the circumference. Note that instead of engaging the outer tube portion by axially pushing it into the inner tube portion, the outer tube portion and the inner tube portion can also be fixed by rotating the outer tube portion relative to the inner tube portion.
[0034] In the present embodiment and each modified example, an example has been shown in which the inner cylindrical portion 101 does not engage with the threads 203 formed on the inner surface of the collar portion 202. However, the inner cylindrical portion 101 may also be provided with threads that engage with the threads 203 formed on the inner surface of the collar portion 202. Furthermore, the male connector 200 may be a slip-type male connector in which threads are not formed on the inner surface of the collar portion 202. The collar of the male connector may also include a wall that is not intended to engage with the female connector but is intended to engage with the outer cylindrical portion. For example, a separate member that is intended to engage with the outer cylindrical portion may be provided on the outside of 202, and the shape of the collar does not have to be annular.
[0035] The female connector having the outer cylindrical portion of this embodiment and each modification can be used as a connector for various medical devices used for neuroanesthesia. For example, the female connector having the outer cylindrical portion of this embodiment and each modification can be used as a drug injection port 313 of a balloon pump 301 having a balloon 312 housed in a housing 311, as shown in FIG. 7 . The balloon pump 301 can gradually release a drug by the contraction pressure of the drug-filled balloon 312. A syringe is connected to the drug injection port 313 and the balloon 312 is filled with the drug. Drug injection devices used for epidural anesthesia, including balloon-based pumps, have a mechanism for automatically discharging the drug, and a force is applied to automatically return the device to its state before the drug was filled. When filling such a drug injection device with a drug, a large force must be applied to the syringe plunger; for example, the syringe is turned downwards and pressed down from above to fill the drug inside. Therefore, when filling the drug injection device with a drug, the syringe connected to the drug injection port 313 may shake significantly. As a specific example of particular concern, we have described the problem of filling a drug into a drug injection device used for epidural anesthesia. However, since it is a connector, it can also be used for other connections, and due to its shape, the connector is prone to bending when connected, so users must be careful when using it. Therefore, if a female connector conforming to ISO 80369-6 that does not have an outer tube is provided as a drug injection port, there is a risk of the connector breaking, not just when connecting to a drug injection device. On the other hand, with the female connector having an outer tube according to this embodiment and each of the modifications, when a force is applied in a direction that tilts the axis of male connector 200 relative to the axis of female connector 100, the collar of the male connector abuts the outer tube, making the inner tube less likely to break, and ensuring operability equivalent to that of conventional connectors.
[0036] In a configuration in which another port is arranged adjacent to a port having an inner cylindrical portion as shown in Fig. 7, a female connector having a detachable protector 330 such as the fifth modified example shown in Figs. 8 to 10 can be used. In the port structure shown in Figs. 8 to 10, a first port portion having an inner cylindrical portion 321 that receives the plug portion of a male connector and a second port portion 322 that does not protrude from port base 325 are arranged at an interval in port base 325. Protector 330 has a first frame portion 331 that surrounds inner cylindrical portion 321 and a second frame portion 332 that surrounds second port portion 322. The outer shape of first frame portion 331 and second frame portion 332 combined is an oval shape in a plan view. A protrusion 333 that protrudes inward is provided at the boundary between the first frame portion 331 and the second frame portion 332, and the inner portions of the first frame portion 331 and the second frame portion 332 are divided into a first portion 351 and a second portion 352 that are connected by a passage 353. The first frame portion 331 and the protrusion 333 form an outer cylindrical portion that surrounds the inner cylindrical portion 321.
[0037] A flange 327 is provided at the base of the inner cylinder 321, and an inner cylinder engagement portion 326 is formed between the flange 327 and the port base 325. An outer cylinder engagement portion 336 that is C-shaped in a plan view is provided at the base of the first frame 331. The inner diameter of the outer cylinder engagement portion 336 is approximately the same as the outer diameter of the inner cylinder engagement portion 326 so that it can fit into the inner cylinder engagement portion 326, and the height of the outer cylinder engagement portion 336 is approximately the same as the height from the port base 325 to the flange 327.
[0038] When attaching the protector 330, first align the inner cylinder 321 with the second section 352 and abut the bottom surface of the protector 330 against the port base 325. Next, when the protector 330 is slid, the inner cylinder 321 passes through the passage 353, which corresponds to the side opening, and moves toward the first section 351. In addition, the C-shaped outer cylinder engaging section 336 engages with the inner cylinder engaging section 326.
[0039] When outer cylinder engaging portion 336 and inner cylinder engaging portion 326 are engaged, collar portion insertion recess 334, into which the collar portion of the male connector is inserted, is formed between first frame 331 and inner cylinder 321. Making second frame 332 lower than first frame 331 facilitates access to second port portion 322, but second frame 332 and first frame 331 may also be at the same height.
[0040] The width W1 of the passage 353 between the first portion 351 and the second portion 352 can be made larger than the outer diameter of the inner cylindrical portion 321 to facilitate sliding. However, the width W1 can also be made slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the inner cylindrical portion 321 so that the protrusion 333 elastically deforms and the inner cylindrical portion 321 passes through to the first portion 351. If the portion cut out to form the passage 353 is less than half the entire circumference of the outer edge of the first portion 351, the collar portion of the male connector can be guided to prevent it from falling toward the second portion 352. However, to more reliably guide the collar portion, the length is preferably less than one-third of the entire circumference of the outer edge. To facilitate attachment of the protective portion 330, the length is preferably greater than one-eighth of the entire circumference of the outer edge. The protrusion 333 is positioned so as not to interfere with the flange 327, allowing the protective portion 330 to slide.
[0041] The protector 330 of this modification is provided with guide portions 335 at the lower outer periphery edge that sandwich the port base 325 from both sides, allowing the protector 330 to easily slide parallel to the port base 325. However, the guide portions 335 may be provided as needed, and do not have to be provided at all. Note that the second port portion 322 can also be configured to protrude from the port base 325 by providing a notch or the like in the second frame portion 332.
[0042] It may also be configured as in a sixth modified example shown in Figures 11 to 14. In the sixth modified female connector, protection part 430 has main tubular part 431 having side opening 441a formed by cutting out a part of side wall 441, and connecting part 432 connected to main tubular part 431 so as to complement side opening 441a.
[0043] The side wall 441 of the main cylinder portion 431 has a generally C-shaped planar shape with a side opening 441a formed therein. A first engagement portion 436A that becomes the outer cylinder portion engagement portion 436 is provided at the base of the side wall 441. The side wall 441 is formed thicker on the side of the side opening 441a than other portions. In addition, a pair of connecting pillars 443 for connecting the connecting portion 432 is provided in the thicker portion.
[0044] The connecting portion 432 has a wall portion 451, a second engaging portion 436B provided at the base of the wall portion 451 and forming the outer cylinder portion engaging portion 436 together with the first engaging portion 436A, and locking arms 453 provided on both sides of the wall portion 451 and forming connecting recesses 451a into which the connecting pillars 443 of the main cylinder portion 431 are inserted. The connecting pillars 443 are provided with locking protrusions 443a, and the locking arms 453 are provided with locking holes 453a that receive the locking protrusions 443a.
[0045] 14 shows the protective part 430 attached to the inner tube part 421. When attaching the protective part 430 to the inner tube part 421, first, the side opening 441a of the main tube part 431 is aligned with the inner tube part 421, and the main tube part 431 is slid from the side to engage the substantially C-shaped first engagement part 436A with the inner tube part engagement part 426. Next, the coupling recess 451a is aligned with the coupling pillar 443, and the coupling part 432 is slid from above to connect the coupling part 432 to the main tube part 431. By connecting the coupling part 432 to the main tube part 431, the side opening 441a of the main tube part 431 is closed, and the side wall 441 of the main tube part 431 and the wall part 451 of the coupling part 432 form an outer tube part 433 that surrounds the inner tube part 421. The inside of the outer cylinder 433 forms a flat circular collar insertion recess 434. Furthermore, the second engagement portion 436B, together with the first engagement portion 436A, surrounds and engages with the inner cylinder engagement portion 426, so that the protection portion 430 is securely attached to the inner cylinder 421. In this modification, the first engagement portion 436A of the main cylinder 431 has a stepped portion, and this stepped portion engages with the flange 427. This prevents the protection portion 430 from slipping out upward.
[0046] In the protective section 430 of this modification, guide sections 435 that sandwich the port base 425 from both sides are provided at the lower end of the main cylindrical section 431, and the main cylindrical section 431 can easily slide parallel to the port base 425. The guide sections 435 also have the function of preventing relative rotation of the protective section 430. However, the guide sections 435 may be provided as needed, and do not necessarily have to be provided.
[0047] Side opening 441a of main cylinder portion 431 only needs to be wide enough to allow inner cylinder portion 421 to pass through. From the viewpoint of ease of attachment of main cylinder portion 431, it is preferable that at least ¼ of the outer periphery is cut out. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of assembling by connecting connecting portion 432, it is preferable that the cut-out range be ½ or less of the outer periphery.
[0048] In this modification, it is preferable that the inner diameter of collar insertion recess 434 match as closely as possible to the outer diameter of the collar of the male connector, from the viewpoint of protecting inner cylindrical portion 421. Even when conforming to ISO 80369-6, the outer diameter of the collar varies, ranging from about 8.85 mm to 11.5 mm, so that the inner diameter of collar insertion recess 434 can be adapted to various male connectors, preferably from 8.85 mm to 13.5 mm, and more preferably from 11.5 mm to 12.8 mm.
[0049] In this modification, wall portion 451 of connecting portion 432 has not only a surface 451A, which becomes the inner surface of outer cylinder portion 433 when connected to main cylinder portion 431, that is a curved surface forming a cylindrical inner cavity, but also a surface 451B, which becomes the outer surface, that is a curved surface with a recessed center. With this configuration, when flexible tube 414 is disposed adjacent to inner cylinder portion 421, it is possible to make it less likely that tube 414 will be compressed, damaged, or kinked by protective portion 430.
[0050] In this modification, the main cylinder portion 431 is provided with a cap 460 that covers the inner cylinder portion 421. The cap 460 has a cap body 461 that closes the collar portion insertion recess 434, and a hinge portion 462 that connects the cap body 461 and the side wall 441.
[0051] The cap body 461 has a rim 466 at its outer edge that engages with a thin portion 441b provided at the upper end of the side wall 441 of the main cylinder portion 431. It also has a protrusion 467 at its center that fits into the inner cylinder portion 421. This prevents fingers or the like from touching the inner cylinder portion 421 and becoming contaminated, and protects the inner cylinder portion 421 from getting dirty. The cap body 461 has a tab 468, which makes it easy to transition from a state in which the cap body 461 covers the inner cylinder portion 421 to a state in which the inner cylinder portion 421 is exposed.
[0052] In the protective part 430 of this modification, the cap body 461 is connected to the side wall 441 of the support part by the hinge part 462, so there is no risk of losing the removed cap body 461. Furthermore, because the hinge part 462 has the leaf spring part 462A, when the protrusion part 467 is not fitted into the inner cylinder part 421, the leaf spring part 462A automatically opens the cap body 461 wide. Therefore, the cap 460 does not get in the way when connecting the male connector to the female connector.
[0053] In this modification, cap 460 is formed integrally with main tubular portion 431, but it may also be formed integrally with connecting portion 432. Alternatively, an independent cap 460 may be formed and connected to main tubular portion 431 or connecting portion 432, or cap 460 may be used in its independent state.
[0054] In this modification, when protective portion 430 is attached to inner cylinder portion 421, the upper end of outer cylinder portion 433 is positioned slightly higher than the upper end of inner cylinder portion 421. This allows inner cylinder portion 421 to be easily covered by cap body 461.
[0055] From the viewpoint of protecting the inner tube portion 421, it is preferable that the upper end of the outer tube portion 433 be positioned as high as possible. From the viewpoint of the operability of the cap 460, it is preferable to make the difference between the upper ends of the outer tube portion 433 and the inner tube portion 421 somewhat small. The upper end of the outer tube portion 433 may be positioned preferably 0.5 mm or more, more preferably 1 mm or more, preferably 3 mm or less, and more preferably 2 mm or less above the upper end of the inner tube portion 421. However, by increasing the height of the rim of the cap body 461, the upper end of the outer tube portion 433 may be positioned lower than the upper end of the inner tube portion 421. Furthermore, if the cap 460 is not provided, the height L2 of the outer tube portion 433 and the height L1 of the inner tube portion 421 may be set to satisfy the relationship shown in FIG. 1.
[0056] A cap may be provided on the outer cylindrical portion shown in the other embodiments and modifications. In this case, it is preferable that the upper end of the outer cylindrical portion is positioned higher than the upper end of the inner cylindrical portion.
[0057] Furthermore, the female connector having an outer cylindrical portion of this embodiment and each modified example is not limited to such devices, but can also be used for three-way stopcocks, tubes, etc. Furthermore, the male connector to be connected to the female connector having an outer cylindrical portion of this embodiment and each modified example is not limited to a male connector provided on a syringe, but can be a male connector provided on other medical devices, tubes, etc.
