Abstract

To provide adhesive compositions containing retarding additive to retard the rate of reactivity without any negative impact on the mechanical and adhesion properties.SOLUTION: The present disclosure relates to an adhesive composition comprising one or more (meth)acrylate ester monomers, a catalyst system and a retarding additive, wherein the retarding additive is a secondary amine; and to the use of secondary amines as retarding additive for adhesive compositions comprising methacrylate monomers.SELECTED DRAWING: None

Claims

1. A two-part adhesive composition comprising one or more (meth)acrylate ester monomers, a catalyst system, a retarding additive, and a polymer modifier, A two-component adhesive composition in which one component comprises the one or more (meth)acrylate ester monomers and the catalyst system, and the other component comprises the retarding additive, wherein the retarding additive is a 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline polymer.

2. The adhesive composition according to claim 1, wherein the retarding additive is contained in an amount of 1% to 5% by weight based on the total weight of the adhesive composition.

3. The adhesive composition according to claim 1 or 2, wherein one or more methacrylate ester monomers are contained in an amount of 10% to 90% by weight based on the total weight of the adhesive composition.

4. The use of a secondary amine or a mixture of secondary amines as a retarding additive for a two-component adhesive composition comprising a methacrylate monomer, The use of the two-component adhesive composition is such that one component comprises the one or more (meth)acrylate ester monomers and catalyst system, and the other component comprises the retarding additive, wherein the retarding additive is a 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline polymer.

5. Use of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline polymer as a retarding additive for a two-component adhesive composition containing methacrylate monomer.
