Metal-containing colloidal silica and method for producing the same

Abstract

To provide metal-containing colloidal silica, on the surface of which the metal is retained dispersed without segregation.SOLUTION: Metal-containing colloidal silica has its surface covered with a mixed layer having a metal M dispersed in silica. The metal M is one or more selected from Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, Ti, Pt, Mg, Zr, Fe, Sr, Ca, V, Mo, Bi, Nb, Ga, Ge, Sn, Ba, W, Co, Ni or Mn. A molar ratio (Si / M) of silicon relative to the metal M in the mixed layer is 10 to 5,000. The metal M is uniformly finely dispersed in the mixed layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

Claims

1. A metal-containing colloidal silica in which the surface of colloidal silica is coated with a mixed layer in which metal M is dispersed in silica, The metal M is one or more selected from Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, Ti, Pt, Mg, Zr, Fe, Sr, Ca, V, Mo, Bi, Nb, Ga, Ge, Sn, Ba, W, Co, Ni, or Mn. Metal-containing colloidal silica in which the molar ratio of silicon to metal M in the mixed layer (Si / M) is 10 or more and 5,000 or less.

2. The metal-containing colloidal silica according to claim 1, wherein the metal M is one or more selected from Ag and Cu.

3. The metal-containing colloidal silica according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the thickness of the mixed layer is 1 nm or more and 50 nm or less.

(a) A step of preparing an activated silicate aqueous solution containing a metal salt compound by adding a metal salt compound to a silicate aqueous solution obtained by contacting an alkali silicate aqueous solution with a cation exchange resin. (b) A step of reacting the metal salt compound-containing activated silica aqueous solution with colloidal silica under alkaline conditions to form a mixed layer on the surface of the colloidal silica in which the metal is uniformly and finely dispersed within the silica.
