AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing methods for determining the degree of degradation in secondary batteries require data on battery design or usage conditions, making it impossible to assess degradation without this information.

Method used

A method and program that generate actual and theoretical charge rate voltage curves, using fitting functions to calculate the difference between measured and theoretical curves, allowing for the estimation of battery degradation without prior knowledge of design or usage conditions.

Benefits of technology

Enables accurate estimation of battery degradation regardless of design or usage conditions, facilitating the reuse of secondary batteries by reducing the need for initial data collection and accounting for various degradation modes.

Abstract

To solve a problem of a conventional analysis method of not being able to determine a degree of deterioration unless there is a battery of the same type for comparison of a secondary battery that is not deteriorated.SOLUTION: A method for calculating a deterioration degree of a secondary battery includes the steps of: calculating an actual measurement value charging rate voltage curve of an actually measured secondary battery and a theoretical value charging rate voltage curve derived from a component of the secondary battery; calculating an evaluation value obtained by evaluating difference between an actual measurement value and a theoretical value of the charging rate voltage curve using an evaluation function in which a high charging rate region, a low charging rate region, and a difference evaluation value are set to have a higher weight than an entire difference evaluation value; and outputs a shift amount in a charging direction given to the theoretical value charging rate voltage curve when the evaluation value becomes the smallest as a parameter indicating the deterioration degree.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
