Abstract

To reduce road noise without affecting steering stability and weight of a vehicle body.SOLUTION: A torsion beam 14 includes a cross-sectional U-shaped beam body 28 which has an opening 26 in the lower part. The opening 26 is formed between lower ends of a pair of vertical wall parts 2804, and thus the torsion beam 14 has the opening 26 in the lower part. In a state where a vehicle 30 is placed on a horizontal surface HP, the torsion beam 14 is arranged so as to be inclined with respect to the horizontal surface HP such that the front end in the width direction of an upper wall part 2802 is located above a rear edge, and is arranged as to be inclined with respect to the vertical surface such that the upper end of the pair of vertical wall parts 2804 is located on the vehicle rear side relative to the lower end. The centerline CL that passes through the center in the width direction of the beam body 28 is inclined such that the upper part thereof is located on the rear side relative to the lower part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

Claims

1. A vehicle suspension system comprising a pair of trailing arms and a single torsion beam connecting the pair of trailing arms, The aforementioned torsion beam comprises a beam body with a U-shaped cross-section having an opening at the bottom, With the vehicle placed on a horizontal surface, the beam body is provided such that the opening faces diagonally downward and forward of the vehicle, or diagonally downward and backward of the vehicle. The angle at which the center line passing through the center in the width direction of the beam body intersects the vertical line is between 30 degrees and 45 degrees. A vehicle suspension system characterized by the following features.

2. The beam body is configured such that its bending rigidity gradually decreases from both ends to the center. The vehicle suspension device according to claim 1, characterized in that it is a vehicle suspension device as described in claim 1.

3. The beam body comprises an upper wall portion and a pair of vertical wall portions that are suspended from both sides of the upper wall portion and face each other in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. The distance between the pair of vertical wall sections is configured to gradually decrease from both ends of the beam body towards the center. The vehicle suspension device according to claim 2, characterized by its features.
