AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional communication systems fail to associate wide-field images captured by an imaging device with viewpoint information, making it impossible to specify the viewpoint from which a partial range of the image was viewed, especially in remote communication scenarios.

Method used

A communication system that includes an information processing system and communication terminals, where the terminals can change the viewpoint of wide-field images and transmit corresponding viewpoint information, allowing the system to associate the captured images with the correct viewpoint across multiple terminals.

Benefits of technology

Enables efficient communication by aligning the viewpoint of wide-field images across different terminals, facilitating clear and coordinated remote communication by ensuring that each user sees the intended portion of the image without requiring manual adjustment.

Abstract

To provide a communication system capable of associating a wide-field image captured by an imaging device in response to an imaging request from a communication terminal with viewpoint information in the communication terminal.SOLUTION: The present invention is a communication system including an imaging device capable of capturing wide-field images having a wide range of viewing angles, and an information processing system that transmits a video including a first wide-field image captured by the imaging device to a plurality of communication terminals. The information processing system includes a communication unit that transmits an imaging request to the imaging device when a request is received from the communication terminal. The imaging device includes an imaging unit that captures a second wide-field image in response to the imaging request. The information processing system further includes an association processing unit that associates the second wide-field image with viewpoint information specifying a predetermined area when the wide-field image designated on the communication terminal is displayed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
