[0001] The present invention relates to a folding comb having a plated surface.
[0002] When the surface of a comb is plated, the surface becomes smooth, reducing contact friction with hair. Such combs have been shown to be effective in discharging static electricity accumulated in hair by grounding the human body (see, for example, Patent Document 1). As noted in Patent Document 1, plating results in non-plated areas at the contact points with the electrodes. Plating can cause problems, such as peeling from the non-plated areas, and paint can dissolve in hair dyes and other agents. Therefore, these non-plated areas must be covered with plated parts. In Patent Document 1, the non-plated areas are covered with a mating lid. This plating process allows for smooth, comfortable hair movement and prevents clogging.
