AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The receptacle connector in electronic devices experiences noise radiation and high-frequency signal loss due to the mid plate and ground terminal being disconnected at the front end, leading to a long current return path during ultra-high speed signal transmission.

Method used

The connector design includes a ground terminal that is bent and extended to contact the mid plate at both surfaces, reducing the current return path and improving signal integrity by connecting the ground terminal to the mid plate at both ends.

Benefits of technology

This design reduces noise radiation and high-frequency signal loss, enhances signal integrity, and improves heat dissipation by shortening the current return path.

Abstract

An electronic device comprising a connector according to various embodiments of the present disclosure comprises: a connector; and a printed circuit board electrically connected to the connector, wherein the connector comprises a midplate comprising a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface; and a plurality of terminals; The device includes an insulating structure that supports at least a portion of the plurality of terminals and has at least a portion of the mid plate disposed therein. The plurality of terminals include a ground terminal that is spaced apart from at least a portion in a first direction or a second direction opposite to the first direction relative to the mid plate, extends in the longitudinal direction of the connector, contacts the mid plate at one end, and contacts the printed circuit board at the other end. The ground terminal disposed in the first direction relative to the mid plate may be bent and extended from one end of the ground terminal toward a first surface of the mid plate to contact the first surface of the mid plate, and the ground terminal disposed in the second direction relative to the mid plate may be bent and extended from one end of the ground terminal toward a second surface of the mid plate to contact the second surface of the mid plate.
