Abstract
A dynamic thoracic disc prosthesis comprising a lower plate and a upper plate, wherein the lower plate has a rough, toothed lower surface for anchoring and a upper surface formed by multiple sliding surfaces, including: an anterior convex, sliding hemispherical surface, an intermediate semicircular surface, and a posterior semicircular surface, the intermediate semicircular surface being provided with an anterior and a posterior stop; the upper plate has a rough, toothed upper surface for anchoring and a lower surface formed by multiple sliding surfaces, including: an anterior concave hemispherical surface, an intermediate semicircular surface, and a posterior semicircular surface, the intermediate semicircular surface being provided with an anterior and a posterior curved cavity. The different sliding surfaces originate from the same geometric center or center of rotation.The upper plate is coupled to the lower plate via the corresponding sliding surfaces, allowing movement of the upper plate over the lower plate in anterior, posterior, right lateral tilt, left lateral tilt, right center-lateral rotation, and left center-lateral rotation directions, thus replicating the flexion, extension, lateral, and rotation movements of the thoracic spine.
