Abstract

This invention relates to a method and treatment plant for obtaining vinasse from the tequila industry that meets the maximum permissible parameters established by NOM-001-SEMARNAT-1996 for use in agricultural irrigation. The treatment method comprises a combination of different physical, chemical, and biological treatment stages, as described below: 1) Screening system using fine mesh screens, 2) Primary clarifier, 3) Neutralization tank with lime, 4) Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor with recirculation, 5) UASB effluent storage tank, 6) Aerobic biofilter packed with organic material, 7) Biofilter effluent storage tank, 8) Fenton agent reaction tank with FeSO4 and H2O2 dosing systems, and 9) Clearer. The connection between the different systems is made using piping.
