CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

[0001] This application claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. CN202321942045.1 filed on Jul. 21, 2023, the entire content of which is hereby incorporated by reference.FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY

[0002] The present application relates to the technical field of knife grinding apparatus, and in particular to a knife grinding assembly and knife grinding apparatus.BACKGROUND

[0003] Prior blade grinding is divided into flat grinding and convex grinding. Traditional Chinese knives generally have a convex ground blade, while modern knives mostly have a flat ground blade. A cross-section of the flat ground blade is generally V-shaped, which makes it relatively sharper. In contrast, the cross-section curve of the convex ground blade bulges outward, resembling a clam shell. Because of a slightly curved edge angle of the convex ground blade, during a cutting and chopping process, a contact surface between the convex ground blade and a material being cut is smaller than that of other blade types, which ensures a smaller resistance, a better edge retention and enhanced cutting performance and makes it more labor-saving.

[0004] The inventor discovered that the cutting performance of the convex ground blade depends on an edge angle, a fineness of an edge line of the blade and an evenness of a surface of the blade on both sides. When grinding the convex ground blade, the process begins by grinding the blade into a V-shaped flat ground blade with a grinding stone. Then, an angle of the grinding stone is adjusted continuously to refine a cross-sectional line of the blade, making it close to a curve, until the blade's sides hardly feel uneven edges to a touch. Therefore, controlling a shape of the cross-sectional curve in the convex grind is highly challenging during the grinding process. As a result, the convex grind is usually done by hand and requires a high level of skill from a craftsman. A procedure of the convex grind is complex, and it is difficult for inexperienced or less-experienced craftsman to produce a high-quality convex ground blade.SUMMARY

[0012] Please refer to FIG. 1. The present application discloses a knife grinding apparatus, which includes a base 1, a bracket 2, a knife grinding assembly 3 and a clamper 4. The clamper 4 is provided on one side above the base 1. The bracket 2 is detachably provided on another side above the base 1 away from the clamper 4. The bracket 2 extends upwards. The knife grinding assembly 3 is provided on an upper end of the bracket 2 with a certain distance to the base 1. A knife is disposed between the base 1 and the knife grinding assembly 3, and clamped by the clamper 4.

[0013] Wherein, the knife grinding assembly 3 includes a positioning portion 31, a slide rod 32, a slide block 33, a pull rod 34, a grinding stone 35 and a universal connector 36. The slide rod 32 is fixedly connected to one side of the positioning portion 31, an axis of the slide rod 32 is perpendicular to an extension direction of the bracket 2. The slide block 33 is slidably provided on the slide rod 32. The pull rod 34 is movably connected to the slide block 33 through the universal connector 36 and is located under the slide rod 32. The grinding stone 35 is provided on the pull rod 34. According to a position of a blade of the knife, the slide block 33 is moved to drive the pull rod 34 and the grinding stone 35 to move to different positions above the base 1. Then a position and an angle between the grinding stone 35 and the blade is further adjusted by the universal connector 36. In this embodiment, the universal connector 36 may be an universal joint in the prior art, which includes a pair of normal hinges with a relative orientation of 90° and ensures the slide block 33 and the pull rod 34 connected to both ends of the joint may turn in any direction relatively. In addition, the universal connector 36 may be a single-section universal joint or a bi-directional universal joint and so on in the prior art. The grinding stone 35 may be provided with several grinding surfaces with different grinding coefficient along a circumference of the pull rod 34. With a rotation of the pull rod 34 around the slide block 33, different grinding surface is chosen to grind the blade.

[0014] Please refer to FIG. 2. The positioning portion 31 includes a connector 311, a clamping bolt 312 and a fixing nut 313. The connector 311 is sleeved on the bracket 2 through a through hole inside the connector 311. An external thread is provided on the bracket 2. The clamping bolt 312 is threadedly connected to the connector 311. An axis of the clamping bolt 312 is perpendicular to the extension direction of the bracket 2. The clamping bolt 312 is twisted to make an end of the clamping bolt 312 move towards or away from the bracket 2. When the end of the clamping bolt 312 abuts on the bracket 2, the connector 311 may be fixed and locked on the bracket 2. In this embodiment, the clamping bolt 312 is disposed on one side of the connector 311 facing away from the slide rod 32. The fixing nut 313 is sleeved on an outside of the bracket 2 and is threadedly connected to the bracket 2. The fixing nut 313 is disposed under the connector 311. A position of the connector 311 fixed on the bracket 2 may be adjusted by adjusting the fixing nut 313 to accommodate knives with different sizes. In use, first loosen the clamping bolt 312 to adjust the connector 311 to a desired height, then tighten the clamping bolt 312 to fix the connector 311 on the bracket 2, that is, adjust the connector 311 to the desired height. With a cooperation of the clamping bolt 313 and the bracket 2 with an external thread, a connection between the positioning portion 31 and the bracket 2 is more firm, and it is more convenient to adjust a height of the positioning portion 31 on the bracket 2, which is conductive to grind convex ground blade edges with different angles.

[0015] In this embodiment, the pull rod 34 is movably connected to a lower end of the slide block 33 through the universal connector 36. The grinding stone 35 is sleeved on an outside of the pull rod 34. The grinding stone 35 includes 4 grinding surfaces with different grinding coefficient, which are 500 meshes, 1000 meshes, 2000 meshes and 3000 meshes, respectively. Because the universal connector 36 ensures a universal motion of the pull rod 34 and a rotation of the pull rod 34 along its axis, in practical application, the pull rod 34 may be rotated according to grinding needs. That is, the user is allowed to select the grinding surface with an appropriate grinding coefficient, or to sequentially use grinding surfaces with progressively increasing grinding coefficient to obtain a finer blade. And the pull rod 34 may be moved left and right in a horizontal direction perpendicular to an up-and-down direction.

[0016] In this embodiment, a handle 341 is protrudingly provided on one side of the pull rod 34 away from the slide block 33. The handle 341 is convenient for pulling the pull rod 34 to move. Furthermore, anti-slip stripes are provided on the handle 341, which enhances friction between the user and the handle 341, preventing slipping during use and facilitating force exertion, thereby improving grinding efficiency.

[0017] In this embodiment, one side of the slide rod 32 away from the connector 311 is provided with a slide block limiting post 321 protruding along a radial direction of the slide rod 32. The slide block limiting post 321 is used to limit a range of a movement of the slide block 33, and avoid a dropping of the slide block 33 when the slide block 33 slides along the slide rod 32.

[0018] Please refer to FIG. 3. A clamper connecting block 11 and a connecting bolt 12 are provided on the base 1. A through hole is provided on a center of the clamper connecting block 11, and a through hole is provided on the clamper 4. The connecting bolt 12 passes through the through hole of the clamper connecting block 11 and the through hole of the clamper 4 to threadedly connected to the two and connect the clamper connecting block 11 and the clamper 4 together. An axis of the connecting bolt 12 is perpendicular to the extension direction of the bracket 2 and an axis of the slide rod 32. The clamper 4 is fixed on the base 1 and may be rotated with a pitch angle along the axis of the connecting bolt 12. With the adjusting of the pitch angle of the clamper 4, the knife may be ground with different angles, users may grind the knife according to a specific condition of the knife to achieve a better grinding effect.

[0019] In this embodiment, the clamper 4 further includes a clamping bolt 41, a first clamping block 42 and a second clamping block 43. An axis of the clamping bolt 41 is perpendicular to the axis of the connecting bolt 12. The first clamping block 42 and the second clamping block 43 is arranged back and forth along the axis of the clamping bolt 41. The connecting bolt 12 passes through the second clamping block 43 and the first clamping block 42 in sequence. At least one of the first clamping block 42 and the second clamping block 43 is threadedly connected to the connecting bolt 12, while the other one is either threadedly connected to, fixedly connected to or abuts on the connecting bolt 12. Therefore, a clamping slot with an adjustable gap is formed between the first clamping block 42 and the second clamping block 43. By rotating the clamping bolt 41, a distance between the first clamping block 42 and the second clamping block 43 is adjusted and thus a size of the clamping slot is adjusted, and the knife is pressed and clamped, thereby achieving a clamping of different knives, and ensuring a suitable grinding for most knives. During use, first loosen the clamping bolt 41 to adjust the gap of the clamping slot to accommodate a knife. Insert a spine of the knife between the first clamping block 42 and the second clamping block 43, and tighten the clamping bolt 41 to clamp the knife. Loosen the connecting bolt 12 to adjust the clamper 4 and the knife to a desired angle. Finally, tighten the connecting bolt 12 to lock an inclination angle of the clamper 4.

[0020] In use, the knife grinding apparatus of the present application may fixe the knife on the base 1 through the clamper 4, the angle of the knife may be adjusted and fixed through the clamper 4. An extension direction of the blade of the knife may be set to be parallel to the axis of the connecting bolt 12. Then the user holds the handle 341 on an end of the pull rod 34 to make the grinding stone 35 swing left and right along the axis direction of the connecting bolt 12 under an action of the universal connector 36, and grind both sides of the blade to obtain a flat ground blade edge. Also, users may further hold the handle 341 on the end of the pull rod 34 to make the grinding stone 35 move back and forth along the slide rod 32 under an action of the slide block 33, and swing up and down along the universal connector 36. Thus, as the slide block 33 moves, the angle between the grinding stone 35 and the bracket 2 changes, allowing for a grinding of both sides of the blade to achieve an excellently convex ground blade edge.

[0021] Compared with the prior art, the knife grinding assembly cleverly integrates the grinding stone 35 and the pull rod 34 onto the slide block 33 through the universal connector 36, and the slide rod 32 is connected to the connector 311, thereby integrating the knife grinding assembly together, which greatly simplifies the knife grinding apparatus and reduces production costs. After the integration, the knife grinding assembly 3 may achieved knife grinding alone only with fixing the connector 311 and the knife. Installation of components such as the bracket 2 and the base 1 are not required. Further, the knife grinding assembly 3 may help inexperienced and less-experienced users to grind a high-quality convex ground blade. By improving the connecting bolt 12, the clamper 4 of the knife grinding apparatus of the present application may adjust the pitch angle of the clamper 4 through adjusting the connecting bolt 12 alone, which is more convenient for use. Also, by providing the clamping bolt 312 and the fixing nut 313 on the positioning portion 31, an adjustment of the height of the positioning portion 31 on the bracket 2 is more convenient.

[0022] The embodiments are for examples and detailed descriptions. The above-mentioned embodiments only express several implementation modes of the present application, and should not be understood as limiting the scope of the present application. It should be noted that, for those of skill in the art, several variations, modifications, substitutions, and variants may be made without departing from the concept of the present application.
