Abstract

A golf club luggage assembly includes a travel container, a carry-on luggage article, and a securing assembly. The travel container is designed to store golf clubs and a golf bag therein. The carry-on luggage article is designed to be carried onto a plane. The securing assembly detachably connects the luggage article to the travel container, wherein the securing assembly includes a first mating structure attached to an outer surface of the travel container and a second mating structure attached to an outer surface of the luggage article.

The securing assembly detachably connects the luggage article to the travel container, wherein the securing assembly includes a first mating structure attached to an outer surface of the travel container and a second mating structure attached to an outer surface of the luggage article.

[0018] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new golf club luggage assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0019] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the golf club luggage assembly 10 generally comprises a travel container 12, a carry-on luggage article 14, and a securing assembly 16. The travel container 12 is designed to store golf clubs 70 and a golf bag 72 therein. The carry-on luggage article 14 is designed to be carried onto a plane. The securing assembly 16 detachably connects the luggage article 14 to the travel container 12, wherein the securing assembly 16 includes a first mating structure 18 attached to an outer surface of the travel container 12 and a second mating structure 20 attached to an outer surface of the luggage article 14.

[0020] FIG. 1 shows an exemplary embodiment of the golf club luggage assembly 10, wherein there is a pair of the carry-on luggage articles 14, with one being smaller than the other. However, in one possible embodiment, there could be only one carry-on luggage article 14. One of the carry-on luggage articles 14 is a small travel bag 22 designed to hold small personal items. The other carry-on luggage article 14 is a backpack 24 with shoulder straps 26. In that regard, most airlines allow travelers to bring one “personal item” and one “carry-on bag” with them, rather than having to check these pieces of luggage for transport in the cargo hold of the airplane. “Personal items” are usually smaller items that can be held on the lap of a passenger or stowed under a seat, such as purses, laptop cases, pouches, and bags. “Carry-on bags” are usually larger than “personal items” and must be placed in the overhead bins on the airplane, and include such items as backpacks and small pieces of luggage that do not need to be checked due to their smaller dimensions and weight. In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the golf club luggage assembly 10 allows a user to easily transport the large travel container 12 for his or her golf clubs 70 while also carrying a small personal item, such as the travel bag 22 shown, and a carry-on bag, such as the backpack 24.

[0021] As shown in FIG. 6, the travel container 12 includes a storage portion 28 and a cover 30 pivotably connected to the storage portion 28. The travel container 12 includes a plurality of storage pockets 32 positioned on an inner surface thereof, which can be used to store golf club accessories and other items. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the storage pockets 32 are positioned on the cover 30 but could be positioned elsewhere inside the storage portion 28. The travel container 12 includes a zipper assembly 34 to close and releasably secure the cover 30 to the storage portion 28. In addition, the travel container 12 includes a handle 36 and wheels 38 for ease of transport.

[0022] With reference to FIG. 4, the first and second mating structures 20 comprise first and second zipper portions 40, 42, wherein the second zipper portion 42 is positioned about an edge of a flat side face of the luggage article 14. Also as shown in FIG. 4, the first mating structure 18, in this case the first zipper portion 40, is attached to the cover 30. It should be understood that this is an exemplary embodiment, and thus other types of connections, such as snaps or clips, could be utilized and located on different parts of the travel container 12 and the luggage article 14. Regardless of the exact structure, this design allows easy and secure connection of the luggage article 14, such as the travel bag 22 or the backpack 24, to the travel container 12. For example, the backpack 24 is mounted on the travel container 12 with the shoulder straps 26 abutting the outer surface of the travel container 12, thereby keeping the shoulder straps 26 from becoming accidentally entangled.

[0023] Also as shown in FIG. 4, the securing assembly 16 can also include a third mating structure 44 attached to an outer surface of the travel container 12 and a fourth mating structure 46 attached to an outer surface of the luggage article 14. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the third and fourth mating structures 44, 46 are buckles or snaps that further secure the backpack 24 to the travel container 12.

[0024] The golf club luggage assembly 10 allows users to transport their carry-on luggage articles 14 on the travel container 12 for their golf clubs 70 to the check-in area, then remove the luggage articles 14 for personal transport on the plane while checking the travel container 12 for transport in the cargo hold.

Claims

1. A golf club luggage assembly comprising:a travel container configured to store golf clubs and a golf bag therein;a carry-on luggage article configured to be carried onto a plane; anda securing assembly detachably connecting said luggage article to said travel container, wherein said securing assembly comprises a first mating structure attached to an outer surface of said travel container and a second mating structure attached to an outer surface of said luggage article.

2. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 1, wherein said first and second mating structures comprise first and second zipper portions.

3. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 2, wherein said second zipper portion is disposed about an edge of a flat side face of said luggage article.

4. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 3, wherein said securing assembly comprises a third mating structure attached to an outer surface of said travel container and a fourth mating structure attached to an outer surface of said luggage article.

5. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 4, wherein said third and fourth mating structures comprise buckles.

6. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 1, wherein said carry-on luggage article comprises a small travel bag configured to hold small personal items.

7. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 1, wherein said carry-on luggage article comprises a backpack with shoulder straps.

8. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 7, wherein said backpack is mounted on said travel container with said shoulder straps abutting said outer surface of said travel container.

9. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 1, wherein the golf club luggage assembly comprises a pair of said carry-on luggage articles, wherein one is smaller than the other.

10. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 9, wherein said pair of said carry-on luggage articles comprises a small travel bag configured to hold small personal items and a backpack with shoulder straps.

11. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 1, wherein said travel container comprises a storage portion and a cover pivotably connected to said storage portion.

12. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 11, wherein said first mating structure is attached to said cover.

13. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 11, wherein said travel container comprises a plurality of storage pockets disposed on an inner surface thereof.

14. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 13, wherein said storage pockets are disposed on said cover.

15. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 11, wherein said travel container comprises a zipper assembly to close and releasably secure said cover to said storage portion.

16. The golf club luggage assembly of claim 1, wherein said travel container comprises a handle and wheels.

A golf club luggage assembly comprising:a travel container configured to store golf clubs and a golf bag therein, wherein:said travel container comprises a plurality of storage pockets disposed on an inner surface thereof,said travel container comprises a storage portion and a cover pivotably connected to said storage portion,said storage pockets are disposed on said cover,said travel container comprises a zipper assembly to close and releasably secure said cover to said storage portion,said travel container comprises a handle and wheels;a carry-on luggage article configured to be carried onto a plane, wherein:the golf club luggage assembly comprises a pair of said carry-on luggage articles, wherein one is smaller than the other,said carry-on luggage article comprises a small travel bag configured to hold small personal items,said carry-on luggage article comprises a backpack with shoulder straps,said backpack is mounted on said travel container with said shoulder straps abutting said outer surface of said travel container; anda securing assembly detachably connecting said luggage article to said travel container, wherein said securing assembly comprises a first mating structure attached to an outer surface of said travel container and a second mating structure attached to an outer surface of said luggage article,wherein:said first mating structure is attached to said cover,said first and second mating structures comprise first and second zipper portions,said second zipper portion is disposed about an edge of a flat side face of said luggage article,said securing assembly comprises a third mating structure attached to an outer surface of said travel container and a fourth mating structure attached to an outer surface of said luggage article,said third and fourth mating structures comprise buckles.
