A new and distinct x Aristeria plant named ‘OVROCKS17’ which is characterized by thin lanceolate foliage, with a transparent greyed-green mucronate tip, grown in a compact basal rosette with secondary shoots with greyed-green, serrate to dentate margins. [0001] Latin name of the genus and species: The Latin name of the genus and species of the novel variety disclosed herein is x Aristeria nowotnyi. Variety denomination:

[0002] The inventive variety of x Aristeria disclosed herein has been given the variety denomination ‘OVROCKS17’.CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0003] This application claims priority to the Community Plant Variety Rights application number 2024 / 2739, filed on Nov. 22, 2024, which is herein incorporated by reference.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004] Parentage: ‘OVROCKS17’ is a seedling selection resulting from the controlled pollination of an unnamed Gasteria hybrid plant (unpatented), the seed parent, with an unnamed Aristaloe aristata plant (unpatented), the pollen parent. The crossing was made by the inventor in 2018 at a commercial greenhouse in Bleiswijk, the Netherlands. In early 2019, one seedling from said cross was observed to exhibit unique foliage and growth characteristics when compared to the parent plants and all other progenies. After confirming the stability of the unique characteristics first observed, the new plant was selected for commercialization and given the name, ‘OVROCKS17’.

The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environment such as temperature, day length, and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype. The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be the unique characteristics of ‘OVROCKS17’. These characteristics in combination distinguish ‘OVROCKS17’ as a new and distinct x Aristeria cultivar:

[0016] The following observations and measurements made in November of 2024 describe averages from a sample set of six specimens of 36-month-old ‘OVROCKS17’ plants grown in 12 cm nursery containers at a commercial greenhouse in Bleiswijk, the Netherlands. Plants were produced using conventional greenhouse production protocols for x Aristeria which consisted of minimal overhead irrigation and fertilizer applications. No pest or disease control measures were utilized in production. No photoperiodic treatments or artificial light was given to the plants.

[0017] Those skilled in the art will appreciate that certain characteristics will vary with older or, conversely, with younger plants. ‘OVROCKS17’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. Where dimensions, sizes, colors and other characteristics are given, it is to be understood that such characteristics are approximations or averages set forth as accurately as practicable. The phenotype of the variety may differ from the descriptions set forth herein with variations in environmental, climatic and cultural conditions. Color notations are based on The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart, The Royal Horticultural Society, London, Sixth Edition.
