Description
[0001] Description
[0002] Motor vehicle lock, especially motor vehicle door lock
[0003] The invention relates to a motor vehicle lock, in particular a motor vehicle door lock, with a lock plate, further with a locking mechanism mounted on the lock plate and consisting essentially of a rotary latch and a pawl as locking mechanism parts, and with a blocking unit preventing axial movements of a locking mechanism part relative to the lock plate.
[0004] Motor vehicle locks, and in particular motor vehicle door locks, with their locking mechanism mounted on the lock plate, consisting essentially of a rotary latch and pawl, primarily ensure the safety of vehicle occupants in addition to their original function of locking a corresponding hatch or door against the vehicle body. For this reason, both the lock plate and the locking mechanism components are usually made of solid metal, particularly high-strength steel. The primary goal is to prevent unintentional door opening, for example, in the event of an accident and the associated tearing forces acting on a corresponding door. This is required and necessary so that the safety features installed in or on a motor vehicle door, such as side impact protection, side airbags, etc., can be fully effective.
[0005] Such tensile forces acting on a vehicle lock during an accident act not only in the transverse or Y-direction in a side impact, but can also act on the locking mechanism in the longitudinal or X-direction. In principle, force distributions in the vertical or Z-direction are also possible.
[0006] As a result of these tensile forces acting on the locking mechanism, a locking bolt or lock holder, typically caught by the rotary latch when the locking mechanism is closed, forces the rotary latch toward a locking opening. This prevents the pawl from engaging a notch. For this purpose, the pawl typically rests against a stop contour of the rotary latch.
[0007] Nevertheless, such tensile forces, which can amount to several tens of g with g of gravitational acceleration, can cause the forked jaws of the rotary latch, which accommodate the locking bolt or lock holder, to expand and / or the pawl to be forced away from its engagement with the rotary latch. This must, of course, be prevented if possible, as it would otherwise lead to the previously described unintentional door opening.
[0008] For this reason, various approaches are already being pursued in the prior art to absorb the tensile forces acting on the locking mechanism and to prevent unintentional opening of the locking mechanism and thus of the motor vehicle lock and a motor vehicle door equipped with it, particularly in the event of a crash. WO 2021 / 139854 A1, which originates from the applicant, actually works in such a way that the locking pawl is equipped with an extension that engages under a hook that limits the axial movement of the locking pawl. In this way, the mechanical stability is to be further increased compared to the prior art cited therein. This has proven fundamentally successful, but requires a modified locking pawl and a modified lock plate such that the aforementioned extension and, in addition, the hook that limits the axial movement of the locking pawl must be implemented at this point.
[0009] In this case, the hook and the extension on the pawl together function as a blocking unit and prevent axial movement of a locking part – in this case, the pawl – relative to the lock plate. This applies at least in the case where tensile forces act on the locking mechanism that correspond or could correspond to movements of the locking parts that lead out of the locking plane spanned by the locking parts. This is associated with axial movements of one or both locking parts, which are prevented by the blocking unit. In contrast, the blocking unit naturally allows rotational movements of the locking parts within their locking plane during normal operation.
[0010] However, if a crash occurs and the resulting crash operation occurs, this typically results in axial movements of one or both locking parts relative to the lock plate, which can lead to the loss of the locking mechanism between the rotary latch and the pawl, preventing the unintentional opening of the locking mechanism. One or both locking parts therefore leave the locking plane spanned by the locking parts. This is prevented by the blocking unit, which prevents and, if possible, blocks such axial movements of one or both locking parts relative to the lock plate in the event of a crash.
[0011] In the further prior art according to US Pat. No. 4,896,907, for example, as shown in Fig. 12 therein, axial movement of the rotary latch is prevented by a tab attached to the lock plate with a protruding hook engaging over the rotary latch. In this case, too, additional work steps and modifications are required, such that the lock plate must be equipped with the tab. Furthermore, a particularly strong and durable connection between the lock plate and the tab is required at this point.
[0012] In the generic and closest prior art according to DE 11 2010 004 714 T5, a blocking unit preventing movement of the locking mechanism relative to the lock plate is implemented in the form of a so-called escape-prevention element. This escape-prevention element prevents unwanted movements of the rotary latch and / or the pawl. For this purpose, the escape-prevention element has a head portion that protrudes outward relative to a shaft portion. This head portion is arranged and selected to be large enough to cover an engagement surface of the rotary latch and the pawl. The escape-prevention element is a steel part that is attached to a locking assembly, specifically the lock plate, by a suitable process such as a press fit or welding.
[0013] The overall fastening and arrangement are selected so that the anti-evasion element or blocking unit does not impede the rotation of the rotary latch and the pawl during normal operation. However, if loads occur, for example, during crash operation, that lead to relative movements between the rotary latch and the pawl that deviate from the locking plane spanned by the locking parts, such movements are prevented by the head section of the anti-evasion element. This prevents the occurrence of an evasive condition or unwanted opening of the locking mechanism.
[0014] The state of the art has proven itself overall, but still offers room for improvement. For example, the known locking units, for example those disclosed in WO 2021 / 139854 A1 or DE 11 2010 004 714 T5, as well as in US Pat. No. 4,896,907, allow a general pivoting movement of the locking parts relative to the lock plate during normal operation in the locking plane. Only in the event of a crash or during crash operation, and in the event of deformations and an associated axial evasive movement of one or both locking parts, does the blocking unit ensure that such axial movements of the respective locking part relative to the lock plate are prevented. As a result, an unintentional opening of the locking mechanism is then no longer to be expected, and safety is enormously increased. However, the solutions pursued to date in this area require more or less complex designs and additional manufacturing processes. For example, the teaching of WO 2021 / 139854 A1 requires the additional implementation of an extension on the pawl as well as a hook. DE 11 2010 004 714 T5 requires the manufacture and attachment of a specially shaped deflection element. US Pat. No. 4,896,907 also requires the manufacture of a tab and attachment to the lock plate. This is a complex manufacturing process. This is where the invention comes in.
[0015] The invention is based on the technical problem of further developing such a motor vehicle lock, and in particular a motor vehicle door lock, in such a way that manufacturing effort is reduced and thus production costs are lower compared to the state of the art. Furthermore, security should be increased as far as possible.
[0016] To solve this technical problem, the present invention, based on a generic motor vehicle lock, proposes that the blocking unit be formed in at least two parts, with a contour on the locking part and a corresponding counter-contour on the lock plate, which interlock in the event of, for example, a crash-related deformation or during crash operation. In this way, the blocking unit prevents both axial and rotational movements of the locking part relative to the lock plate.
[0017] According to the invention, in the event of a crash, the contour and the counter-contour engage with each other. This can occur at least force-fitting and even preferably form-fitting, i.e. such that the locking part in question can no longer perform any relative movement with respect to the lock plate as a result of the crash-induced deformation. In particular, mutual relative movements of the locking parts in the opening direction of the locking mechanism are suppressed in this way. This means that the lock plate, with its counter-contour, ensures that the contour on the relevant locking part is blocked in this case. This also suppresses the relative movements between the two locking parts (at least in the opening direction of the locking mechanism), and an unintentional opening of the locking mechanism cannot occur. The locking part is usually at least partially covered with a plastic coating, which can be designed such that, in a normal state, it covers the locking part, including the contour, creating a smooth surface. In the event of a crash, the material of the plastic coating, which is softer than the locking part, deforms, so that the contour protrudes above the remaining surface again and can interact with the counter contour according to the invention.
[0018] In contrast to, for example, the generic prior art according to DE 11 2010 004 714 T5 or WO 2021 / 139854 A1, the mutual interaction between the contour on the locking mechanism part and the counter-contour on the lock plate in conjunction with the crash-induced deformation ensures that pivoting movements of the locking mechanism part in question are suppressed, particularly in the opening direction of the locking mechanism. In contrast, the evasion prevention element or its head section in the former DE 11 2010 004 714 T5 still fundamentally allows such a pivoting movement - for example, a sliding movement. A similar situation applies to WO 2021 / 139854 A1, in which such a sliding pivoting movement between the extension on the pawl and the hook is fundamentally possible even following a crash-induced deformation.
[0019] In contrast, safety is further increased within the scope of the invention. In particular, a rotational relative movement of the locking parts to one another in the event of a crash-related deformation in the opening direction of the locking mechanism is suppressed. This is ensured by the contour on the locking part and the corresponding counter-contour on the lock plate, which interlock in the event of a crash, at least in a force-locking manner. Naturally and simultaneously, any axial movement of the locking part in question is also blocked. In addition, the invention simplifies production and reduces manufacturing costs. This can be attributed to the fact that, according to an advantageous embodiment, both the contour on the locking part and the counter-contour on the lock plate each represent an integral component of the locking part or the lock plate.Furthermore, it has proven particularly advantageous in this context if the contour on the locking mechanism part can be produced by a (plastic) forming and / or cutting process. The same applies to the counter-contour on the lock plate, which can also be produced by a (plastic) forming and / or cutting process.
[0020] The previously mentioned forming and separating processes generally describe a manufacturing process that, in accordance with the DIN 8580 standard, can be realized and implemented as either a forming process or a separating process. Such a forming process results in a permanent change in the shape of the locking part or lock plate, and the mass of the blank workpiece corresponds to the mass of the workpiece after machining. For example, the forming process on the locking part or lock plate can be specifically realized and implemented in such a way that the contour or counter-contour in question is pressure-formed, for example, by die-forming, pressing, stamping, pressing through, or similarly processing.
[0021] Alternatively or in addition to the forming process, the contour or counter-contour can also be realized and implemented through a cutting process. Such a cutting process is characterized by the material's cohesion being reduced during processing. Accordingly, this typically involves machining processes, so the contour or counter-contour in question can be punched, milled, drilled, or even laser-machined, for example. This preferably applies—as mentioned—to both the contour on the locking part and the counter-contour on the lock plate.
[0022] The particular advantage within the scope of the invention lies in the fact that both the locking parts and the lock plate are made from high-strength steel and are typically subjected to a forming and / or cutting process during their production anyway. For example, the locking parts and the lock plate are punched out in the same way. Since, according to the invention, the contour on the locking part and the counter-contour on the lock plate are also produced by a forming and / or cutting process, the relevant manufacturing process for creating the contour or counter-contour can be easily integrated into the already completed production process for creating the locking part or the lock plate. This means:, the production of additional components, such as the extension on the pawl in WO 2021 / 139854 A1, is just as unnecessary as the escape prevention element according to DE 11 2010 004 714 T5 or the tab according to US 4 896 907. Accordingly, any additional manufacturing steps for attaching such an escape element, a tab or an extension are also omitted within the scope of the invention.
[0023] Rather, the contour on the locking mechanism part, as well as the counter-contour on the lock case, each represent an integral component of the locking mechanism part or lock case, and can be easily integrated into the conventional manufacturing process for the locking mechanism part or lock case. This results in lower manufacturing costs compared to the state of the art while simultaneously increasing security. These are the key advantages.
[0024] Within the scope of the invention, it is also possible to adapt the depth and / or surface of the contour on the locking part to the height and / or profile of the counter-contour on the lock plate. A particularly preferred embodiment is one in which the contour on the locking part is specifically designed as an embossed contour on the rotary latch. This means that in this case, only the rotary latch is reshaped as a locking part, namely by embossing, by defining the embossed contour in question on the rotary latch. The embossed contour on the rotary latch generally interacts with a rib contour and / or stop contour on the lock plate.
[0025] In this context, it has proven particularly advantageous if the embossed contour is positioned on a fork leg of the rotary latch. It is also particularly advantageous if the embossed contour is located in the area of a fork. It is also recommended to position the embossed contour facing away from a stop contour for the pawl.
[0026] This means that the embossed contour is advantageously initially provided on the fork leg of the rotary latch. In fact, in addition to the fork leg, the rotary latch also has a stop leg. Between the fork leg and the stop leg is the forked jaw for receiving the locking bolt or lock holder. The fork leg is equipped with the stop contour for the pawl. In addition, the forked jaw is overlapped by the U-shaped locking bolt as a further component of the blocking unit. The embossed contour on the fork leg of the rotary latch is now initially located in the area of the forked jaw, i.e., facing the forked jaw. This makes the embossed contour particularly easy to realize and implement, because a corresponding embossing die can be used only for machining the edge of the forked jaw.
[0027] Furthermore, it has proven particularly advantageous in this context if the embossed contour on the fork leg is positioned opposite the stop contour for the pawl. In this case, the embossed contour is located on the opposite side of the fork leg from the stop contour. This allows the stop contour and the embossed contour to be realized independently of each other and practically implemented separately during production.
[0028] In addition to the embossed contour on the fork leg of the rotary latch, the rotary latch can also be equipped with another embossed contour, which in this case is located in the stop leg. This effectively "locks" the rotary latch to the lock plate at two spaced-apart points in the event of a crash-related deformation, providing a particularly rigid locking mechanism between the rotary latch and the lock plate in the event of a crash. In either case, pivoting movements of the rotary latch are suppressed, particularly in the opening direction of the locking mechanism. This prevents accidental opening of the locking mechanism.
[0029] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to a drawing which merely represents an exemplary embodiment; in the drawings:
[0030] Fig. 1 shows the motor vehicle lock according to the invention in the form of a motor vehicle door lock in a perspective overview,
[0031] Fig. 2A and 2B a schematic section through the motor vehicle door lock according to Fig. 1 in normal operation (Fig. 2A) and in the event of a crash (Fig. 2B) and
[0032] Fig. 3A to 3C show the manufacturing process of the rotary latch with the embossed contour in its individual steps.
[0033] The figures depict a motor vehicle lock, specifically a motor vehicle door lock. It has a lock plate 1 made of high-strength steel. A locking mechanism 2, 3 is rotatably mounted on the lock plate 1. The locking mechanism 2, 3 essentially consists of a rotary latch 2 and a pawl 3 as locking parts 2, 3. The locking parts 2, 3, like the lock plate 1, are made of high-strength steel. The locking parts 2, 3 are usually at least partially coated with a plastic coating, which has been omitted from the figures for clarity.
[0034] Fig. 1 shows a (main) locking state of the locking mechanism 2, 3. In this (main) locking state of the locking mechanism 2, 3, the pawl 3 ensures that the rotary latch 2 cannot perform the clockwise opening movement around its axis 4 indicated in Fig. 1. The pawl 3 is also mounted on the lock plate 1 so that it can rotate about a separate axis 5. The respective axes 4, 5 are defined by means of bearing domes that are anchored in the lock plate 1, for example, standing vertically and spaced from one another on the lock plate.
[0035] During normal operation, a clockwise pivoting movement of the pawl 3 around its axis 5 ensures that the pawl 3 leaves a stop contour 2a on the rotary latch 2, against which the pawl 3 rests in the illustrated (main) locking position. As a result, the rotary latch 2 pivots open, spring-assisted, also in the indicated clockwise direction. This corresponds to an opening of the locking mechanism 2, 3. In principle, in addition to the illustrated (main) locking position, a pre-locking position can also be realized, although this is not shown.
[0036] If a crash occurs in the illustrated (main) locking state according to Fig. 1, corresponding forces act on the locking mechanism 2, 3 in an opening direction, i.e., they ensure that the rotary latch 2 is acted upon clockwise around its axis 4. This is ensured by a locking bolt or U-shaped lock holder 6 caught in a forked mouth 2b on the part of the rotary latch 2. The lock holder 6 is mounted on a lock holder plate 7, which can best be understood from the two sectional views in Figs. 2A and 2B. In fact, the sectional views in Figs. 2A and 2B result from a section along the line XX in Fig. 1.
[0037] The lock holder plate 7 is typically connected to a motor vehicle body (not shown), for example to its B-pillar. In contrast, the lock plate 1 is generally connected to an end face of a motor vehicle door (not shown) or to a leaf of the motor vehicle door in question. In the (main) closed state shown, the lock holder plate 7 and the lock plate 1 are arranged predominantly parallel to one another. In the event of a crash, among other things, tearing forces act on the lock holder 6 in the Y-direction or transverse direction of the vehicle indicated there, acting in the direction of opening the locking mechanism 2, 3. The pawl 3 now prevents such an opening of the locking mechanism 2, 3. Nevertheless, deformation of the fork mouth 2b can occur at this point.
[0038] In fact, the forked jaw 2b is defined between two legs 2c, 2d of the rotary latch 2. One leg 2c is designed as a forked leg 2c with the stop contour 2a for the pawl 3. The other, further, second leg 2d, in contrast, is a stop leg 2d. In any case, the previously described tearing forces can lead to the two legs 2c, 2d and thus also the forked jaw 2b being opened and / or the pawl 3 being simply pushed away from its engagement with the stop contour 2a.
[0039] To prevent this, a blocking unit 6; 8, 9 is additionally implemented according to the invention. In fact, such crash-related deformations of the lock plate 1 as well as of the locking mechanism 2, 3 also result in forces acting in the X-direction or longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle, i.e., perpendicular to the plane of the drawing according to Fig. 1. This is additionally indicated by the corresponding arrows in Figs. 2A and 2B.
[0040] In fact, such a force in the X-direction leads to the rotary latch 2 being moved axially in the direction of the lock plate 2 in the illustrated embodiment. This is because the U-shaped lock holder 6 overlaps the fork leg 2c and, in the case of such crash-related forces in the X-direction, ensures that the rotary latch 2 is moved in the direction of the lock plate
[0041] 1 is moved. This crash-induced deformation ensures, according to the invention, that the blocking unit 6; 8, 9 prevents any axial movement of a locking part 2, 3 relative to the lock plate 1. Specifically, and within the scope of the exemplary embodiment, the aim is to suppress both axial and rotational movements of a locking part 2, 3, according to the exemplary embodiment of the rotary latch 2. For this purpose, the blocking unit 6; 8, 9 is not only equipped in at least two parts, but also has a contour 8 on the respective locking part 2, 3 or the rotary latch.
[0042] 2 and a corresponding counter contour 9 on the lock plate 1 .
[0043] Comparing Figs. 2A and 2B, it is first apparent that the lock holder plate 7 and the lock plate 1 are arranged and extend parallel to each other. Fig. 2A represents normal operation or the normal position. It can be seen that in this normal position or during normal operation, both the rotary latch 2 and the pawl 3 can each perform unhindered pivoting movements in a locking plane E extending parallel to the lock case 1 and spanned by the two locking parts 2, 3.
[0044] If, however, a crash occurs and the lock plate 1 and / or the locking mechanism 2, 3 are deformed due to forces acting on the lock holder 6 in the (Y and) X directions, the situation arises as shown in Fig. 2B. It can be seen that the locking plane E spanned by the locking mechanism 2, 3 has been left by one or both locking mechanism parts 2, 3 due to the force applied by the lock holder 6 in the X direction in question.
[0045] The result is that, according to the exemplary embodiment and the invention, the rotary latch 2 engages with the lock plate 1. This applies at least to the interaction between the contour 8 on the rotary latch 2 and the corresponding counter-contour 9 on the lock plate 1. In fact, these two contours 8, 9 then engage with each other, at least in a force-fitting manner. In principle, a form-fitting engagement can also be realized and implemented at this point. In any case, this engagement of the respective contours 8, 9 on the one hand on the rotary latch 2 in the exemplary embodiment and on the other hand on the lock plate 1 results in both axial and rotational movements of the rotary latch 2 relative to the lock plate 1 being prevented with the help of the blocking unit 6; 8, 9 realized in this way in conjunction with the lock holder 6. This means that the lock holder 6 functions as a component of the blocking unit 6; 8, 9 through its displacement in the X direction. This axially blocks the respective locking part 2. At the same time, the movement of the lock holder 6 ensures that the contour 8 and the counter contour 9 engage. This also suppresses any rotational movement of the locking part(s) 2, 3.
[0046] A comparison of Figures 2A and 2B shows that the non-positively interlocking contours 8, 9 suppress or block clockwise pivoting movements of the rotary latch 2, as shown in Figure 1. Axial movement of the rotary latch 2 is also no longer possible because the lock holder 6, which is displaced in the X direction by the force applied in the event of a crash, prevents this.
[0047] In order to implement and realize this in detail, the contour 8 on the locking part or the rotary latch 2, as well as the contour 9 on the lock plate 1, are each an integral part of the respective locking part or rotary latch 2 on the one hand, and of the lock plate 1 on the other. Furthermore, the contour 8, 9 in question can be realized and implemented by a forming process and / or cutting process during production, as already described in the introduction. For this purpose, reference is made in detail to Figures 3A to 3C. In fact, Fig. 3A shows the original state of the rotary latch 2, and Fig. 3B shows the plastic forming process carried out at this point. According to the exemplary embodiment, this is a stamping or pressing process.A depression is embossed on the top side of the rotary latch 2, and a corresponding shape is formed on the underside of the rotary latch 2, which, as contour 8, represents a component of the described blocking unit 8, 9. The embossed contour 10 thus created on the rotary latch 2 is provided on the fork leg 2c, which is overlapped by the U-shaped lock holder 6. Furthermore, it can be seen that the embossed contour 10 is provided in the area of the fork mouth 2b and is open towards the fork mouth 2b. Furthermore, the embossed contour 10 is arranged facing away from the stop contour 2a for the pawl 3.
[0048] In addition to this embossed contour 10 on the fork leg 2c of the rotary latch 2, a further embossed contour 11 can also be realized on the rotary latch 2. In this case, too, the embossed contour 11 is accompanied by a depression or indentation on the upper side of the rotary latch 2, while on the underside of the rotary latch 2 there is a corresponding formation or projection, which functions as a further contour 8 within the scope of the invention. As in the case of the embossed contour 10, the embossed contour 11 realized in this way again interacts with a corresponding counter-contour 9 on the lock plate 1.
[0049] The counter contour 9 on the lock plate 1 can be produced and implemented in a similar way to the contour 8 by means of a forming process, as is shown in Fig. 2B. Alternatively or additionally to this, it is also conceivable for the counter contour 9 on the lock plate 1 to be produced by a separating process or to be accompanied by such a separating process. This separating process corresponds to the fact that a recess, a bore, etc. is made in the rotary latch 2, which together with the forming provides a stop edge as the counter contour 9, as is additionally shown. Due to the shown production of the contour 8 or counter contour 9 by means of a forming process and / or separating process, it is possible to adapt a depth and / or surface of the relevant contour 8 on the locking part 2, 3 to a height and / or a profile of the counter contour 9 on the lock plate 1. I.e.Both the contour 8 and the counter-contour 9 can be realized variably with regard to their surface area and / or their depth or height and can be adapted to one another. This makes it easy to achieve at least a frictional engagement. This engagement prevents at least rotational movements of the locking mechanism 2, 3 in the direction of opening the locking mechanism 2, 3. In principle, the contour 8 and the counter-contour 9 can also engage not only frictionally but also positively. However, this is not shown.
[0050] The rotary latch 2 and / or the pawl 3 can also be equipped with a merely indicated plastic sheath 12. This plastic sheath 12 is recessed in the area of the stop contour 2a as well as in the area of the embossed contour 10, 11. The actuation of the pawl 3 in the opening direction and during normal operation of the locking mechanism 2, 3 can be carried out in any conceivable manner, for example, manually and / or by electric motor. Of particular importance is the fact that the realization of the embossed contour 10, 11 can be integrated into the basic manufacturing process of the rotary latch 2 in the exemplary embodiment. This means that since the rotary latch 2 is punched out on its own and usually additionally drilled or milled, the definition of the contour 8 on the rotary latch 2 can be easily integrated into this general manufacturing process. This is because forming and / or cutting processes are typically used and the contour 8 can therefore be integrated into these usual manufacturing processes.
[0051] The same applies to the lock plate 1, which also undergoes a forming and / or cutting process during its production. In this case, too, the formation of the counter contour 9 can be integrated into this basic manufacturing process, because a forming and / or cutting process is also used at this point. This results in low manufacturing costs.
