Description

Electronic devices including flexible displays

[0001] Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a flexible display having an adhesive layer composed of a heterogeneous adhesive and an electronic device including the same.

[0002] Electronic devices require a small profile for portability and a large display area to provide users with a wealth of information. To achieve this balance between a small profile and a large display area, electronic devices are moving beyond the rectangular bar-shaped form factor to adopt various form factors, such as rollable, slideable, and foldable. Electronic devices with these form factors require flexible displays that can change shape through bending or folding.

[0003] As the number or frequency of deformations in flexible displays increases, stresses exceeding the elastic limit of the protective layer (e.g., yield strength) may be applied, resulting in plastic deformation. This can lead to distortion or reduced transparency, resulting in creases or scratches. Repeated deformation can shorten the lifespan of flexible displays and damage to components and wiring.

[0004] The display of an electronic device may be implemented by stacking at least a plurality of layers, which may be referred to as a "display stack structure." At least a plurality of members constituting the display stack structure may be fixed by an adhesive. The adhesive may be implemented as a single layer having a predetermined thickness, and such a layer may be referred to as an "adhesive layer."

[0005] Since the adhesive material that forms the adhesive layer corresponding to the area with high deformation frequency and the area with low deformation frequency of the flexible display is not uniform, there may be limitations in effectively responding to the deformation characteristics of the flexible display.

[0006] In various embodiments of the disclosure, adhesive layers having different stiffnesses corresponding to a deformable region and a non-deformable region in a flexible display included in an electronic device can be provided.

[0007] An electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may include a flexible display having a multilayer structure using an adhesive layer. The adhesive layer may include a low modulus region corresponding to a variable region of the flexible display and a high modulus region corresponding to a non-variable region of the flexible display. A width of the low modulus region may be greater than or equal to a first portion of a circle formed by a radius of curvature of the variable region.

[0008] An electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may include a flexible display having a multilayer structure using an adhesive layer. The flexible display may include a variable region that is slidable by a roller and a non-variable region adjacent to the variable region. The adhesive layer may include a low modulus region corresponding to the variable region and a high modulus region corresponding to the non-variable region. The high modulus region may be adjacent to one side of the low modulus region. A width of the low modulus region may be greater than or equal to 1 / 2 of a circumference formed by a radius of curvature of the variable region.

[0009] An electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may include a flexible display having a multilayer structure using an adhesive layer. The flexible display may include a variable region foldable by a hinge structure and a non-variable region connected to both sides of the variable region. The adhesive layer may include a low modulus region corresponding to the variable region and a high modulus region corresponding to the non-variable region. The high modulus region may be connected to both sides of the low modulus region, and a width of the low modulus region may be greater than or equal to 1 / 2 of a circumference formed by a radius of curvature of the variable region.

[0010] An electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can provide a flexible display having a predetermined degree of durability corresponding to a non-deformable area while providing a predetermined degree of flexibility corresponding to a deformable area.

[0011] An electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may provide an adhesive layer that provides a certain level of refractive index and transmittance.

[0073] FIG. 2c is an exploded perspective view of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0074] Referring to FIG. 2C, the electronic device (200) may include a first structure (201), a second structure (202) (e.g., a housing), a display (203) (e.g., a flexible display), a guide member (e.g., a roller (251)), and / or a support sheet (253). A portion of the display (203) (e.g., a second area (A2)) may be accommodated inside the second structure (202) while being guided by the roller (251).

[0075] According to various embodiments, the first structure (201) may include a first plate (211a) (e.g., a slide plate), a first bracket (211b) mounted on the first plate (211a), and / or a second bracket (211c). The first structure (201), for example, the first plate (211a), the first bracket (211b), and / or the second bracket (211c), may be formed of a metallic material and / or a non-metallic (e.g., a polymer) material. The first plate (211a) may be mounted on the second structure (202) (e.g., a housing) and may reciprocate linearly in one direction (e.g., in the direction of arrow ① in FIG. 2a) under the guidance of the second structure (202). According to one embodiment, the first bracket (211b) can be coupled to the first plate (211a) to form a first surface (F1) of the first structure (201) together with the first plate (211a). The first area (A1) of the display (203) can be substantially mounted on the first surface (F1) and maintained in a flat shape. The second bracket (211c) can be coupled to the first plate (211a) to form a second surface (F2) of the first structure (201) together with the first plate (211a). According to one embodiment, the first bracket (211b) and / or the second bracket (211c) can be formed integrally with the first plate (211a). This can be appropriately designed in consideration of the assembly structure or manufacturing process of the product being manufactured. The first structure (201) or the first plate (211a) is coupled to the second structure (202) and can slide relative to the second structure (202).

[0076] According to various embodiments, the second structure (202) (e.g., a housing) may include a second plate (221a) (e.g., a rear case), a printed circuit board (not shown), a rear plate (221b), a third plate (221c) (e.g., a front case), and a support member (221d). The second plate (221a), e.g., the rear case, may be arranged to face in an opposite direction from the first side (F1) of the first plate (211a), and may substantially provide an external shape of the second structure (202) or the electronic device (200). According to one embodiment, the second structure (202) may include a first side wall (223a) extending from the second plate (221a), a second side wall (223b) extending from the second plate (221a) and formed substantially perpendicular to the first side wall (223a), and a third side wall (223c) extending from the second plate (221a) and being substantially perpendicular to the first side wall (223a) and parallel to the second side wall (223b). In the illustrated embodiment, the second side wall (223b) and the third side wall (223c) are fabricated as separate components from the second plate (221a) and mounted or assembled to the second plate (221a), but may be formed integrally with the second plate (221a). The space formed by the second structure (202) can accommodate an antenna for proximity wireless communication, an antenna for wireless charging, or an antenna for MST (magnetic secure transmission).

[0077] According to various embodiments, the rear plate (221b) can be coupled to the outer surface of the second plate (221a), and can be manufactured as an integral part with the second plate (221a) according to an embodiment. According to one embodiment, the second plate (221a) can be manufactured from a metal or polymer material, and the rear plate (221b) can be manufactured from a material such as metal, glass, synthetic resin, or ceramic to provide a decorative effect on the exterior of the electronic device (200). According to one embodiment, the second plate (221a) and / or the rear plate (221b) can be manufactured from a material that transmits light at least partially (e.g., an auxiliary display area). For example, when a part of the display (203) (e.g., the second area (A2)) is accommodated inside the second structure (202), the electronic device (200) can output visual information by using a part of the display (203) accommodated inside the second structure (202). The auxiliary display area can provide visual information output from an area housed inside the second structure (202) to the outside of the second structure (202).

[0078] According to various embodiments, the third plate (221c) is made of a metal or polymer material and may be combined with the second plate (221a) (e.g., rear case), the first side wall (223a), the second side wall (223b) and / or the third side wall (223c) to form an internal space of the second structure (202). In some embodiments, the third plate (221c) may be referred to as a “front case,” and the first structure (201), e.g., the first plate (211a), may slide substantially in a state of facing the third plate (221c).

[0079] According to various embodiments, the multi-joint hinge structure (213) may include a plurality of bars or rods (not shown) and may be connected to one end of the first structure (201). For example, as the first structure (201) slides, the multi-joint hinge structure (213) may move relative to the second structure (202), and in a closed state (e.g., as shown in FIG. 2A), may be substantially retracted into the interior of the second structure (202). In one embodiment, even in the closed state, a portion of the multi-joint hinge structure (213) may not be retracted into the interior of the second structure (202). For example, even in the closed state, a portion of the multi-joint hinge structure (213) may be positioned corresponding to the roller (251) on the exterior of the second structure (202). A plurality of rods (214) are extended in a straight line and arranged parallel to the rotation axis (R) of the roller (251), and can be arranged along a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis (R), for example, along the direction in which the first structure (201) slides.

[0080] According to various embodiments, each rod included in the multi-joint hinge structure (213) can pivot around another adjacent rod while maintaining a parallel state with the other adjacent rod. Accordingly, as the first structure (201) slides, the plurality of rods can be arranged to form a curved surface or a flat surface. For example, as the first structure (201) slides, the multi-joint hinge structure (213) can form a curved surface at a portion facing the roller (251), and the multi-joint hinge structure (213) can form a flat surface at a portion not facing the roller (251). According to one embodiment, the second region (A2) of the display (203) is mounted or supported on the multi-joint hinge structure (213) and can be exposed to the outside of the second structure (202) together with the first region (A1) in an open state (e.g., a state as shown in FIG. 2B). In a state where the second area (A2) is exposed to the outside of the second structure (202), the multi-joint hinge structure (213) can support or maintain the second area (A2) in a flat state by forming a substantially flat surface.

[0081] According to one embodiment, the first side wall (223a) may be formed by a combination of a first side wall portion (223a-1) extending from the second plate (221a) and a second side wall portion (223a-2) formed on one edge of the third plate (221c). According to one embodiment, the first side wall portion (223a-1) may be combined to surround one edge of the third plate (221c), for example, the second side wall portion (223a-2), in which case the first side wall portion (223a-1) itself may form the first side wall (223a).

[0082] According to various embodiments, the support member (221d) may be positioned in the space between the second plate (221a) and the third plate (221c) and may have a flat plate shape made of a metal or polymer material. The support member (221d) may provide an electromagnetic shielding structure in the internal space of the second structure (202) or may improve the mechanical rigidity of the second structure (202).

[0083] According to various embodiments, a printed circuit board (not shown) may be placed in the space between the third plate (221c) and the support member (221d). The printed circuit board may be equipped with a processor, memory, and / or an interface. The processor may include, for example, one or more of a central processing unit, an application processor, a graphics processing unit, an image signal processor, a sensor hub processor, or a communication processor.

[0084] The memory may include, for example, volatile memory or non-volatile memory.

[0085] The interface may include, for example, a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI), a universal serial bus (USB) interface, an SD card interface, and / or an audio interface. The interface may electrically or physically connect the electronic device (200) to an external electronic device, for example, and may include a USB connector, an SD card / MMC connector, or an audio connector.

[0086] According to various embodiments, the display (203) is a flexible display based on organic light emitting diodes, which can be deformed into a curved shape at least partially while remaining generally flat. In one embodiment, a first region (A1) of the display (203) can be mounted or attached to a first surface (F1) of a first structure (201) to be maintained in a substantially flat shape. A second region (A2) can extend from the first region (A1). For example, the second region (A2) can extend along a sliding movement direction of the first structure (201) and can be deformed to form an at least partially curved shape.

[0087] According to various embodiments, as the first structure (201) slides on the second structure (202), the area of the display (203) exposed to the outside may change. The electronic device (200) (e.g., processor) may change the area of the display (203) that is activated based on the area of the display (203) that is exposed to the outside. For example, in the open state or in an intermediate position between the closed state and the open state, the electronic device (200) may activate the area of the second structure (202) exposed to the outside among the entire area of the display (203). In the closed state, the electronic device (200) may activate the first area (A1) of the display (203) and deactivate the second area (A2). In the closed state, if there is no user input for a certain period of time (e.g., 30 seconds or 2 minutes), the electronic device (200) may deactivate the entire area of the display (203). According to one embodiment, while the entire area of the display (203) is inactive, the electronic device (200) can activate a portion of the display (203) as needed (e.g., notifications based on user settings, notifications of missed calls / messages) to provide visual information through the auxiliary display area (e.g., a portion of the second plate (221a) and / or the rear plate (221b) made of a material that transmits light).

[0088] According to various embodiments, in an open state (e.g., a state illustrated in FIG. 2b), substantially the entire area of the display (203) (e.g., the first area (A1) and the second area (A2)) may be exposed to the outside, and the first area (A1) and the second area (A2) may be arranged to form a flat surface. According to one embodiment, even in the open state, a portion (e.g., one end) of the second area (A2) may be positioned to correspond to the roller (251), and a portion of the second area (A2) corresponding to the roller (251) may be maintained in a curved shape. For example, in various embodiments disclosed in the present disclosure, even if it is stated that “in the open state, the second area (A2) is arranged to form a plane,” a portion of the second area (A2) may remain in a curved shape, and similarly, even if it is stated that “in the closed state, the second area (A2) is accommodated inside the second structure (202),,” a portion of the second area (A2) may be positioned outside the second structure (202).

[0089] According to various embodiments, a guide member, for example, a roller (251), may be rotatably mounted to the second structure (202) at a position adjacent to one edge of the second structure (202) (e.g., the second plate (221a)). For example, the roller (251) may be positioned adjacent to an edge of the second plate (221a) that is parallel to the first side wall (223a) (e.g., a portion indicated by reference numeral 'IE'). Although not given a reference number in the drawing, another side wall may extend from the edge of the second plate (221a) adjacent to the roller (251), and the side wall adjacent to the roller (251) may be substantially parallel to the first side wall (223a). As mentioned above, the side wall of the second structure (202) adjacent to the roller (251) can be made of a material that transmits light, and a portion of the second area (A2) can transmit a portion of the second structure (202) while being accommodated in the second structure (202) to provide visual information.

[0090] In various embodiments, one end of the roller (251) may be rotatably coupled to the second side wall (223b), and the other end may be rotatably coupled to the third side wall (223c). For example, the roller (251) may be mounted on the second structure (202) and may rotate about a rotational axis (R) that is perpendicular to the sliding movement direction of the first structure (201) (e.g., the direction of arrow ① in FIG. 2a or 2b). The rotational axis (R) may be arranged substantially parallel to the first side wall (223a), and may be located away from the first side wall (223a), for example, at one edge of the second plate (221a). In one embodiment, a gap formed between the outer surface of the roller (251) and the inner surface of the edge of the second plate (221a) may form an entrance through which the display (203) enters the interior of the second structure (202).

[0091] According to various embodiments, when the display (203) is deformed into a curved shape, the roller (251) can suppress excessive deformation of the display (203) by maintaining the radius of curvature of the display (203) to a certain extent. "Excessive deformation" may mean that the display (203) is deformed to have an excessively small radius of curvature to the extent that pixels or signal wiring included in the display (203) are damaged. For example, the display (203) can be moved or deformed while being guided by the roller (251), and can be protected from damage due to excessive deformation. According to one embodiment, the roller (251) can rotate while the display (203) is inserted into or taken out of the second structure (202). For example, friction between the display (203) and the second structure (202) can be suppressed, so that the display (203) can smoothly perform the insertion / removal operation of the second structure (202).

[0092] According to various embodiments, the support sheet (253) may be made of a material having flexibility and a certain degree of elasticity, for example, an elastic material such as silicone or rubber, and may be wound around the roller (251) by being mounted or attached to the roller (251) and selectively wound around the roller (251) as the roller (251) rotates. In the illustrated embodiment, the support sheets (253) may be arranged in a plurality (e.g., four) along the direction of the rotational axis (R) of the roller (251). For example, the plurality of support sheets (253) may be mounted on the roller (251) at a certain interval from other adjacent support sheets (253) and may extend in a direction perpendicular to the rotational axis (R). In one embodiment, one support sheet may be mounted or attached to the roller (251). For example, one support sheet may have a size and shape corresponding to the area where the support sheets (253) are arranged and the area between the support sheets (253) in FIG. 2c. In this way, the number and size or shape of the support sheets (253) may be appropriately changed depending on the product to be actually manufactured. According to one embodiment, the support sheet (253) may be rolled around the outer circumferential surface of the roller (251) as the roller (251) rotates, or may be spread out in a flat shape between the display (203) and the third plate (221c) by being released from the roller (251). According to one embodiment, the support sheet (253) may be referred to as a “support belt,” an “auxiliary belt,” a “support film,” or an “auxiliary film.”

[0093] According to various embodiments, an end of the support sheet (253) is connected to a first structure (201), for example, a first plate (211a) (e.g., a slide plate), and the support sheet (253) can be rolled around a roller (251) in a closed state (e.g., a state illustrated in FIG. 2a). Accordingly, when the first plate (211a) moves to an open state (e.g., a state illustrated in FIG. 2b), the support sheet (253) can be gradually positioned between the second structure (202) (e.g., the third plate (221c)) and the display (203) (e.g., the second area (A2)), or between the second structure (202).

[0094] According to various embodiments, the gap between the surface of the display (203) and the inner edge of the second plate (221a) may vary depending on the degree to which the support sheet (253) is wound around the roller (251). A smaller gap facilitates preventing the inflow of external foreign substances, but if the gap is excessively small, the display (203) may contact or rub against the second plate (221a). If direct contact or friction occurs, the surface of the display (203) may be damaged or the sliding operation of the first structure (201) may be hindered.

[0095] According to various embodiments, by winding the support sheet (253) around the roller (251) in the closed state, the gap between the surface of the display (203) and the inner edge of the second plate (221a) can be reduced while maintaining a state in which the surface of the display (203) does not come into contact with the second plate (221a). For example, by reducing the arrangement gap in the closed state, the inflow of external foreign substances into the interior of the second structure (202) can be prevented. According to one embodiment, as the first structure (201) (e.g., the first plate (211a) or the slide plate) gradually moves to the open state, the support sheet (253) can be released from the roller (251) and gradually moved between the second structure (202) (e.g., the second plate (221a) or the third plate (221c)). For example, as the first structure (201) moves to the open state, the arrangement gap may gradually increase to suppress direct friction or contact between the display (203) and another structure (e.g., the second plate (221a)) and prevent the surface of the display (203) from being damaged due to friction or contact. According to one embodiment, the thickness of the support sheet (253) may gradually increase from one end (e.g., the portion fixed to the roller (251)) to the other end (e.g., the portion fixed to the first plate (211a)). By using the thickness profile of the support sheet (253), the arrangement gap in the closed state and the open state may be adjusted.

[0096] According to various embodiments, the electronic device (200) may include at least one elastic member (231, 233) made of a low-density elastomer such as a sponge or a brush. For example, the electronic device (200) may include a first elastic member (231) mounted on one end of the display (203), and, according to one embodiment, may further include a second elastic member (233) mounted on an inner surface of an edge of a second plate (221a). The first elastic member (231) is substantially disposed in the inner space of the second structure (202), and may be positioned corresponding to the edge of the second plate (221a) in an open state (e.g., the state illustrated in FIG. 2B). According to one embodiment, the first elastic member (231) may move in the inner space of the second structure (202) according to the sliding movement of the first structure (201). When the first structure (201) moves from a closed state to an open state, the first elastic member (231) can move toward the edge of the second plate (221a). When the first structure (201) reaches the open state, the first elastic member (231) can contact the inner surface of the edge of the second plate (221a). For example, in the open state, the first elastic member (231) can seal the gap between the inner surface of the edge of the second plate (221a) and the surface of the display (203). According to one embodiment, when moving from the closed state to the open state, the first elastic member (231) can move while contacting (e.g., sliding contact) the second plate (221a). For example, if a foreign substance has entered the gap between the second area (A2) and the second plate (221a) in the closed state, when moving to the open state, the first elastic member (231) can discharge the foreign substance to the outside of the second structure (202).

[0097] According to various embodiments, the second elastic member (233) may be attached to the inner surface at the edge of the second plate (221a) and may be arranged to substantially face the inner surface of the display (203). In the closed state, a gap (e.g., a placement gap) between the surface of the display (203) and the inner surface of the edge of the second plate (221a) may be substantially determined by the second elastic member (233). In one embodiment, in the closed state, the second elastic member (233) may contact the surface of the display (203), thereby substantially sealing the placement gap. In one embodiment, the second elastic member (233) may be made of a low-density elastic body such as a sponge or a brush so as not to damage the surface of the display (203) even if it directly contacts the display (203). In one embodiment, the placement gap may increase as the first structure (201) gradually moves to the open state. For example, the display (203) can gradually expose the second area (A2) to the outside of the second structure (202) without substantially contacting or rubbing against the second elastic member (233). When the first structure (201) reaches an open state, the first elastic member (231) can come into contact with the second elastic member (233). For example, in the open state, the first elastic member (231) and the second elastic member (233) can seal the arrangement gap, thereby blocking the inflow of external foreign substances.

[0098] According to various embodiments, the electronic device (200) may further include guide rails (255)(s) and / or actuating members (257)(s). The guide rails (255)(s) may be mounted on the second structure (202), for example, the third plate (221c), to guide the sliding movement of the first structure (201) (e.g., the first plate (211a) or the slide plate). The actuating members (257)(s) may include a spring or a spring module that provides an elastic force in a direction that moves both ends thereof away from each other. One end of the actuating members (257)(s) may be rotatably supported on the second structure (202), and the other end may be rotatably supported on the first structure (201). When the first structure (201) slides, the ends of the driving members (257)(s) may be positioned closest to each other (hereinafter, “closest contact”) at any point between the closed state and the open state. For example, in the section between the closest contact and the closed state, the driving members (257)(s) may provide elastic force to the first structure (201) in the direction of moving toward the closed state, and in the section between the closest contact and the open state, the driving members (257)(s) may provide elastic force to the first structure (201) in the direction of moving toward the open state.

[0099] FIG. 3A is a cross-sectional view of a display (300) (e.g., the display module (160) of FIG. 1 or the flexible display (203) of FIG. 2) according to one embodiment. FIG. 3A may be understood as a cross-sectional view of the display (300) in an unfolded state. The display (300) is not limited to the flexible display (203) described in FIG. 2 and may be applied to various types of displays. For example, the display (300) may be applied to a foldable display (e.g., the display (1300) of FIGS. 13 and 14 and the display (1521) of FIGS. 15 and 16). In addition, it may be applied to a flexible display that is deformed into various shapes.

[0100] Referring to FIG. 3A, an electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1 or the electronic device (200) of FIGS. 2A to 2C) may include a window member and a display (300). The display (300) may be implemented as a separate configuration from the window member, or may be configured integrally with the window member. The window member may be disposed on the display (300) to form at least a portion of the outer surface of the electronic device (200). For example, the window member may form a first area (e.g., the first area (A1) of FIGS. 2A and 2B) and a second area (e.g., the second area (A2) of FIG. 2B) of the display. Hereinafter, it is assumed that the window member is implemented integrally with the display (300).

[0101] According to one embodiment, the display (300) may undergo a shape deformation in a specific region in response to a portion of the electronic device (200) (e.g., the roller (251) or the hinge of FIG. 2C) being folded or wound. In this case, the region where the shape deformation occurs will be referred to as a “deformable portion (or deformable region)” of the display (300), and the region where the shape deformation does not occur will be referred to as a “non-deformable portion (or non-deformable region)” of the display (300). For example, at least a portion of a first region (A1) of the display (300) may correspond to a non-deformable portion, and at least a portion of a second region (A2) of the display (300) may correspond to a deformable portion. For example, in a foldable flexible display (e.g., display (1300) of FIG. 13 or display (1521) of FIG. 15), the deformable portion may correspond to a folding area (e.g., folding area (1303) of FIG. 14 or folding area (15211) of FIG. 19).

[0102] In one embodiment, the window member covers at least a portion of the display (300) and can protect the display (300) from external impact.

[0103] In one embodiment, the window member may have a predetermined transmittance and refractive index. This allows the display (300) to be visually exposed to the outside of the electronic device (200) through the window member.

[0104] In one embodiment, the window member may be formed by laminating at least one layer of materials. That is, the window member may have a “laminated structure.” The window member having the laminated structure may have substantially the same thickness, but, if necessary, the window member may have different thicknesses in certain areas.

[0105] In one embodiment, the window member may have a glass layer (302) or a protective layer (303). The glass layer (302) may be formed of a substantially transparent, flexible material. For example, at least a portion of the glass layer (302) may include glass having a thickness that is bendable (e.g., ultra thin glass (UTG)).

[0106] According to one embodiment, the glass layer (302) may include a plurality of regions having different lengths of thickness and / or width. For example, the glass layer (302) may include at least one flexible region and one flat region.

[0107] According to one embodiment, the protective layer (303) may be implemented as a film layer composed of at least one film layer. The protective layer (303) may be implemented as a single protective layer. The protective layer (303) may be implemented as a plurality of protective layers. When the protective layer (303) is implemented as a plurality of protective layers (e.g., when implemented as a first protective layer (303-1) and a second protective layer (303-2) of FIGS. 10 to 12), the protective layer (303) may include a high-hardness protective layer and a low-hardness protective layer. The protective layer (303) may absorb at least a portion of the force applied to the electronic device (200). The protective layer (303) may include a plurality of regions having different lengths of thickness and / or width. For example, the protective layer (303) may include at least one flexible region and a flat region.

[0108] According to one embodiment, the protective layer (303) may be composed of a synthetic resin (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polyurethane (PU)). In addition, the protective layer (303) may be composed of a film-shaped substrate utilizing a resin such as PI, PE, PMMA, PC, or PS.

[0109] According to one embodiment, in order for the display (300) to form a laminated structure, the window member may include an adhesive layer (310, 320). The adhesive layer (310, 320) may have a predetermined stiffness (e.g., storage modulus), a predetermined elasticity, a predetermined transmittance, and a predetermined refractive index. The adhesive layer (310, 320) may physically connect layers forming the display laminated structure. The adhesive layer (310, 320) may be composed of a polymer material.

[0110] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layers (310, 320) may be implemented as a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA). The adhesive layers (310, 320) may have high elasticity due to their low modulus. The adhesive layers (310, 320) may reduce stress applied to the display (300).

[0111] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layer (310, 320) may include a first adhesive layer (310) and a second adhesive layer (320). The first adhesive layer (310) and the second adhesive layer (320) may be formed of substantially the same material. The first adhesive layer (310) may be disposed on one surface (e.g., the upper surface) of the glass layer (302) to adhere the glass layer (302) and the protective layer (303). That is, the first adhesive layer (310) may be disposed between the glass layer (302) and the protective layer (303). The second adhesive layer (320) may be disposed on one surface of the display panel (301) to adhere the glass layer (302) and the display panel (301). That is, the second adhesive layer (320) may be disposed between the glass layer (302) and the display panel (301).

[0112] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (310) may include a plurality of regions having different lengths of thickness and / or width.

[0113] For example, the plurality of regions may include a first adhesive layer (310) including a first region (311), a second region (313), and a third region (315). The first region (311) may correspond to a deformable portion, and the second region (313) and the third region (315) may correspond to a non-deformable portion.

[0114] According to one embodiment, the first region (311) may have a predetermined width and thickness. The width and thickness of the second region (313) and the third region (315) may be substantially the same as or different from the first region (311).

[0115] According to one embodiment, the widths of the first side (3111) and the second side (3112) of the first region (311) may be substantially the same or different. Specifically, the width (w') of the second side (3112) may be greater than or equal to the width of the first side (3111).

[0116] For example, when the width (w) of the first side (3111) and the width (w') of the second side (3112) are substantially the same, i.e., when w=w', the cross-section of the first region (311) may have a rectangular shape.

[0117] For example, if the width (w') of the first side (3111) and the width (w'') of the second side (3112) are different, i.e., w <w'인 경우, 제1 영역(311)의 단면은 실질적으로 하변의 길이가 더 긴 사다리꼴의 형상을 가질 수 있다.

[0118] According to one embodiment, the width (w, w') of the first region (311) may be determined by considering the radius of curvature of the variable region (A2) (e.g., the inner radius of curvature (r1) or the outer radius of curvature (r2) of FIG. 3b). The first region (311) may have a width that is at least a predetermined length or more in order to respond to an external force (e.g., an external force (F1, F2) of FIG. 3b) generated as the variable region (A2) is deformed.

[0119] For example, the width (w, w') of the first region (311) may be at least greater than or equal to the length of the first region of the circumference formed by the inner curvature radius (r1) of the variable region (A2). Here, the first region may be understood as, for example, 1 / 2 of the circumference. Specifically, the width (w, w') of the first region may be greater than or equal to 1 / 2 (i.e., π) of the circumference formed by the inner curvature radius (r1). However, the width (w, w') of the first region (311) may also be determined based on the shape of the variable region (A2) or an external force (F1, F2) acting according to the deformation of the variable region (A2) in addition to the inner curvature radius (r1).

[0120] According to one embodiment, the first to third regions (311, 313, 315) can be arranged independently. That is, the first to third regions (311, 313, 315) can be arranged by being divided based on a predetermined boundary surface. The first to third regions (311, 313, 315) can be arranged in a contiguous manner. For example, physical properties (e.g., elasticity, transmittance, and / or refractive index) can be distinguished based on the boundary surface between the first region (311) and the second region (313). Physical properties can be distinguished based on the boundary surface between the first region (311) and the third region (315).

[0121] According to one embodiment, the physical properties of the first to third regions (311, 313, 315) may be gradually changed. For example, the refractive index and / or the transmittance may be continuously changed based on the boundary between the first region (311) and the second region (313). The refractive index and / or the transmittance may be continuously changed based on the boundary between the first region (311) and the third region (315). For example, the thickness may be gradually changed based on the boundary between the first region (311) and the second region (313). The thickness may be gradually changed based on the boundary between the first region (311) and the third region (313).

[0122] According to one embodiment, the thickness, refractive index, and / or transmittance at the boundary between the first and third regions (311, 313, 315) can be gradually changed, thereby minimizing the visual perception of the boundary. A process for manufacturing such that the physical properties at the boundary between the first and third regions (311, 313, 315) are gradually changed is described below with reference to FIGS. 5 to 8.

[0123] According to one embodiment, the thickness of the first adhesive layer (310) may be 10 μm to 100 μm. The difference in thickness between the first region (311) and the second region (313) (or the third region (315)) included in the first adhesive layer (310) may be 5 μm or less.

[0124] According to one embodiment, the stiffness of the first region (311) may be lower than the stiffness of the second region (313) and / or the third region (315). The modulus of the first region (311) may be lower than the modulus of the second region (313) and / or the third region (315). In other words, the first region (311) may be composed of a low modulus material, and the second region (313) and / or the third region (315) may be composed of a high modulus material. The low modulus material and the high modulus material may be implemented by a difference in the monomers that make up the polymer or the molecular structure of the substances that make up the materials.

[0125] For example, the storage modulus of the first region (311) may be 0.1 Mpa or less at 25°C. The storage modulus of the second region (313) and / or the third region (315) may be 0.2 Mpa or more at 25°C. Here, the storage modulus of the first to third regions (311, 313, 315) may be understood as a storage modulus value when a load of 0.5 N is applied in the width direction (e.g., z-axis direction) of the first adhesive layer (310).

[0126] According to one embodiment, by providing different modulus values for the first to third regions (311, 313, 315) included in the first adhesive layer (310), the display (300) can have elastic recovery in a region where deformation occurs (e.g., a deformation portion or the second region (A2) of FIG. 2B), while at the same time, it can have rigidity above a critical level in a region where deformation does not occur (e.g., a non-deformable portion or the second region (A1) of FIG. 2A). As an experiment to confirm the rigidity of the first to third regions (311, 313, 315), a pen drop test and a pen pressure test can be performed, which will be described below.

[0127] According to one embodiment, the second adhesive layer (320) may be implemented with a material having the same modulus value corresponding to the deformable portion and the non-deformable portion. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the second adhesive layer (320) may also be implemented with a material having different moduli in the regions corresponding to the deformable portion and the non-deformable portion, similar to the first adhesive layer (310).

[0128] It can be understood that the adhesive layer to be described below can be implemented with a structure such as the first adhesive layer (310) consisting of a low modulus region and a high modulus region.

[0129] FIG. 3B is a cross-sectional view of a display (300) according to one embodiment. FIG. 3B may be understood as a cross-sectional view for expressing an external force acting in response to deformation occurring in a predetermined area (e.g., the second area (A2) of FIG. 2B) of the display (300) of FIG. 3A.

[0130] Referring to FIG. 3b, the first section (A1) (e.g., the first area (A1) of FIG. 2a) may correspond to the non-deformed section of FIG. 3a, and the second section (A2) may correspond to the deformed section of FIG. 3a.

[0131] According to one embodiment, in response to deformation of the display (300) in the second section (A2), external forces (F1, F2) may be applied to the inside and outside of the display (300), respectively. For example, a compressive stress (F2) may be applied to the inside of the display (300) (e.g., an inner region where the glass layer (302) is provided in the second section (A2)), and a stretching (or tensile) stress (F1) may be applied to the outside of the display (300) (e.g., an region where the protective layer (303) is provided in the second section (A2). Accordingly, the adhesive layer included in the window area (e.g., the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer (310, 320) of FIG. 3A) may have a minimum elasticity that can withstand the stress due to compression and / or stretching. That is, the adhesive layer (310, 320) may have elasticity for at least an outer surface (e.g., π) formed by an outer radius of curvature (r2) on the curved surface formed by the second section (A2). Here, the radius of curvature may be set based on the center (C) (e.g., the sliding center axis (R) of FIG. 2C), the outer radius of curvature (r2) may be defined as the distance from the center (C) to the outermost point of the second region (A2), and the inner radius of curvature (r1) may be defined as the distance from the center (C) to the glass layer (302). However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the outer radius of curvature (r2) and the inner radius of curvature (r1) may be variously defined according to the variable shape of the electronic device (200). For example, the inner radius of curvature (r1) and / or the outer radius of curvature (r2) may be set based on the direction of the variable shape, the variable It can be defined in various ways depending on the variable angle and variable shape of the shape.

[0132] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layer (310, 320) has a predetermined adhesive strength, thereby providing fixing force to a layer (e.g., a protective layer (303)) attached to one surface of the adhesive layer (e.g., a first adhesive layer (310)) and a layer (e.g., a glass layer (302)) attached to the other surface in response to the stress.

[0133] According to one embodiment, the first region (311) may have a predetermined durability. For example, when the radius of curvature is less than or equal to twice the outer radius (r2), the first region (311) may minimize the occurrence of cracks in response to deformation occurring substantially a critical number of times. The critical number of times may be, for example, substantially 200,000 deformations (e.g., the number of times the electronic device (200) is pulled out or inserted, the number of times the electronic device is folded).

[0134] In one embodiment, the width of the first region (311) may be determined based on the inner radius of curvature (r2). For example, the width of the first region (311) may be determined in proportion to the sum of the inner radius of curvature (r2) and the width of the glass layer (302).

[0135] According to one embodiment, when the adhesive layer (310) is implemented as a plurality of layers, the width of the adhesive layer (310) may increase in response to an increase in the radius of curvature. This will be described later in FIG. 4.

[0136] According to one embodiment, a pen drop test and a pen pressure test may be performed to determine the durability provided by the first region (311) (e.g., the first region (311) of FIG. 3A) and the second region (313) (e.g., the second region (313) of FIG. 3A) included in the first adhesive layer (310). Hereinafter, the test results for the second region (313) may also be applied to the third region (315).

[0137] According to one embodiment, the pen drop test can be understood as a durability test in response to a dynamic impact applied to the display (300). Here, the dynamic impact can be understood as an impact caused by moving at a high speed. For example, it can be understood as an impact received when the electronic device (200) falls to the ground. The impact time due to the dynamic impact is 10 -3 10 seconds to 10 minutes -5 In terms of seconds, when converted to frequency, it is 10 3 10 inland 5 It can be understood as Hz.

[0138] According to one embodiment, the pen pressure test can be understood as a durability in response to a static shock applied to the display (300). Here, the static shock can be understood as an impact caused by moving at a slow speed. For example, it can be understood as an impact caused by an external force applied in the direction of gravity according to the load of an object having a predetermined weight to the display (300) of the electronic device (200). The impact time due to the static shock is 10 -1 In terms of frequency, it is 10 seconds, which is 10 -1 10 inland 1 It can be understood as Hz.

[0139] According to one embodiment, a pen drop test for testing the impact resistance of the adhesive layer (310) can be performed as follows. The pen drop test can be performed by dropping an object (e.g., a pen) onto an evaluation specimen including an adhesive layer. The evaluation specimen can be provided with a structure in which a glass member (e.g., the glass layer (302) of FIG. 3A), an adhesive layer (e.g., the first adhesive layer (310) of FIG. 3A), and a protective member (e.g., the protective layer (303) of FIG. 3A) are laminated. For example, the thickness of the glass member (302) can be 25 μm (micrometer) to 40 μm. The thickness of the adhesive layer (310) can be 35 μm to 50 μm. The thickness of the protective member (303) can be 50 μm to 100 μm, and preferably 65 μm to 75 μm. The above protective member (303) can be made of PET.

[0140] According to one embodiment, the evaluation specimen is placed on the upper surface of a structure in which granite (or stainless steel (STS)) having a predetermined thickness and a film of 60 μm to 80 μm are laminated, and a pen is dropped from a height that is a predetermined height away from the evaluation specimen, and the maximum height from which the glass member (302) is not broken is recorded, thereby performing a pen drop test. Here, the pen has a weight of 5 g to 6 g, and the diameter of one end of the pen falling to the evaluation specimen may be 0.3 mm. The pen may fall freely toward the evaluation specimen due to gravity.

[0141] According to one embodiment, a pen drop test result corresponding to an area included in the adhesive layer (310) (e.g., the first area to the third area (311, 313, 315)) can be derived. That is, the higher the modulus of the material constituting the area (311, 313, 315), the higher the pen drop test result can be derived. Hereinafter, the pen drop test result can be derived as the value indicated in .

[0142] Modulus (Mpa) Breakage Height (cm) Low Modulus 0.02 8.4 0.03 8.6 0.07 10.8 0.11 2.4 High Modulus 0.2 15.4 0.5 26.3 0.9 3 4.3

[0143] Referring to , it can be understood that as the modulus value of the region constituting the adhesive layer (310) increases, the height at which damage due to a pen drop increases. Since the first region (311) included in the adhesive layer (310) is composed of a low modulus material, and the second region (313) included in the adhesive layer (310) is composed of a high modulus material, the damage occurrence height of the first region (311) and the damage occurrence height of the second region (313) may differ by at least 3 cm.

[0144] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layer (310) may have an increase in storage modulus in response to an increase in impact frequency. That is, the adhesive layer (310) may have a nonlinear increase in storage modulus in a specific section where the impact frequency increases. For example, the high modulus material of the second region (313) included in the adhesive layer (310) may have an increase in storage modulus when the frequency of the external impact is 10 1 10 at Hz 3 As the frequency increases in Hz, the storage modulus can increase by more than 100 times. <Reference Figure 1> shown below is a graph showing the storage modulus according to the frequency of the external impact.

[0145] <Reference Figure 1>

[0146] [Correction pursuant to Rule 91, September 26, 2024]

[0147] A pen pressure test for testing the impact resistance of the adhesive layer (310) can be performed as follows. The pen pressure test can be performed by pressing an object (e.g., a pen) with a predetermined pressure onto an evaluation specimen including an adhesive layer. The evaluation specimen can be provided with a structure in which a glass member (302), an adhesive layer (310), and a protective member (303) are laminated. The protective member (303) can be made of PET.

[0148] According to one embodiment, the pen pressure test can be performed by placing the evaluation specimen on the upper surface of a structure in which granite (or stainless steel (STS)) having a predetermined thickness and a urethane film having a predetermined hardness (e.g., shore hardness of 30Hs) are laminated, pressing a pen from the evaluation specimen and recording the maximum force (unit: kgf) that does not break the glass member (302). Here, the pen has a weight of 5 g to 6 g, and the diameter of one end of the pen falling onto the evaluation specimen can be 0.3 mm. The pen can be pressed at a speed of 10 mm per minute.

[0149] According to one embodiment, a pen pressure test result corresponding to an area included in the adhesive layer (310) (e.g., the first area to the third area (311, 313, 315)) can be derived. That is, the higher the modulus of the material constituting the areas (311, 313, 315) is, the higher the pen pressure test result can be derived. Hereinafter, the pen pressure test result can be derived as the value indicated in .

[0150] Modulus (Mpa) Breaking Force (kgf) Low Modulus 0.02 1.10.03 1.10.07 1.3 0.11.3 High Modulus 0.2 1.4 0.5 1.4 0.9 1.4

[0151] Referring to , it can be understood that as the modulus value of the region constituting the adhesive layer (310) increases, the force causing breakage due to pen pressure increases. Since the first region (311) included in the adhesive layer (310) is composed of a low modulus material, and the second region (313) included in the adhesive layer (310) is composed of a high modulus material, the minimum force causing breakage of the glass layer (302) in the first region (311) may be 1.3 kgf or less, and the minimum force causing breakage of the glass layer (302) in the second region (313) may be 1.4 kgf or more.

[0152] According to one embodiment, it is possible to detect whether adhesives having different modulus characteristics are provided corresponding to the first region (311) and the second region (313). To this end, the adhesive forming either the first region (311) or the second region (313) may include a fluorescent material. For example, the adhesive forming the first region (e.g., the second adhesive (653) of FIG. 6) may include a fluorescent material, or the adhesive forming the second region (313) (e.g., the first adhesive (651) and / or the third adhesive (655) of FIG. 6) may include a fluorescent material. The fluorescent material may include, for example, stilbenedisulfonic acid-based, coumarin-based, pyrazole-based, naphthalimide-based, or bisbenzoxazolyle-based. The fluorescent material can emit light by absorbing a light source having a specific wavelength range. For example, the fluorescent material can emit light by absorbing a light source of 300 to 400 nm. This is described in detail in FIG. 5 and below.

[0153] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a display (400) (e.g., the display (300) of FIG. 3) according to one embodiment. The first adhesive layer (410) illustrated in FIG. 4 can be understood as representing a case where the first adhesive layer of FIG. 3 (e.g., the first adhesive layer (310) of FIGS. 3A and 3B) is laminated in at least a plurality of layers (410-1, 410-2, ……410-n). Hereinafter, overlapping descriptions will be omitted and differences will be primarily illustrated.

[0154] Referring to FIG. 4, the first adhesive layer (410) may be configured by stacking at least a plurality of adhesive layers. The plurality of adhesive layers may include a first-first adhesive layer (410-1), a first-second adhesive layer (410-2), … … a first-nth adhesive layer (410-n) (n is a natural number greater than or equal to 2). The plurality of adhesive layers (410-1, 410-2, … 410-n) may include a first region (411-1, 411-2, … 411-n) composed of a low modulus material, a second region (413-1, 413-2, … 413-n) composed of a high modulus material, and a third region (415-1, 415-2, … 415-n). For example, the first-first adhesive layer (410-1) may include a first-first region (411-1), a second-first region (413-1), and a third-first region (415-1). The first-second adhesive layer (410-2) may include a first-second region (411-2), a second-second region (413-2), and a third-second region (415-2). The first-n adhesive layer (410-n) may include a first-n region (411-n), a second-n region (413-n), and a third-n region (415-n). The first-first region (411-1), the first-second region (411-2), … …, and the first-n region (411-n) may be collectively referred to as “first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n).” Likewise, the 2-1 region (413-1), the 2-2 region (413-2), … … and the 2-n region (413-n) can be collectively referred to as “the 2nd region (413-1, 413-2, ……413-n)”, and the 3-1 region (415-1), the 3-2 region (415-2), … … and the 3-n region (415-n) can be collectively referred to as “the 3rd region (415-1, 415-2, ……415-n)”.

[0155] According to one embodiment, the width of the 1-1 region (411-1) can be defined as w1, the width of the 1-2 region (411-2) can be defined as w2, and the width of the 1-n region (411-n) can be defined as wn.

[0156] According to one embodiment, the first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n) may have substantially the same central axis. For example, the first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n) may be stacked based on an axis corresponding to the center of the deformable portion (e.g., the deformable portion of FIG. 3A).

[0157] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (410) may have the widths of the first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n) narrow in response to the thickness direction in which the display (400) is exposed (e.g., the z-axis direction of FIG. 3A). That is, w1, w2, … … and wn may be set in the relationship of w1 ≤ w2 ≤ w3 ≤… … ≤ wn.

[0158] According to one embodiment, the width of the first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n) may be determined in consideration of the inner radius of curvature (e.g., the inner radius of curvature (r1) of FIG. 3b). The width of the first adhesive layer (410) may increase in response to an increase in the inner radius of curvature (r1). Here, the inner radius of curvature (r1) may be understood as the shortest distance from the center point of the radius of curvature located on the outer side of the protective layer (203) to the first-first region (411-1). For example, the width of the first-first region (411-1) may have a value at least greater than half (π*r1) of the circumference due to the inner radius of curvature (r1).

[0159] According to one embodiment, the thickness of the 1-1 region (411-1) can be defined as t1, the thickness of the 1-2 region (411-2) can be defined as t2, and the thickness of the 1-n region (411-n) can be defined as tn.

[0160] According to one embodiment, the widths (w1, w2, ……wn) of each of the regions forming the first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n) can be determined based on the inner radius of curvature (r1) and the thickness of the adjacent adhesive layer. The widths (w1, w2, ……wn) can be determined by the radius of curvature, which is the distance from the center point.

[0161] For example, the width (w2) of the 1-2 region (411-2) may have a value at least greater than half the circumference (π*(r1+t1)) obtained by the sum of the thickness (t1) and the inner radius of curvature (r1) of the 1-1 region (411-1).

[0162] For example, the width (w3) of the 1-3 region (411-3) may have a value greater than at least half of the circumference (π*(r1+t1)) obtained by the sum of the thickness (t1) of the 1-1 region (411-1), the thickness (t2) of the 1-2 region (411-2), and the inner radius of curvature (r1).

[0163] For example, the width (wn) of the 1-n region (411-n) may have a value that is at least greater than half of the circumference (π*(r1+t1+t2+,,,,,,+tn-1)) resulting from the sum of the thickness (t1) and the inner radius of curvature (r1) of the 1-1 region (411-1). That is, the width (wn) of the 1-n region (411-n) may be defined as in <Mathematical Formula 1>.

[0164]

[0165] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (410) is provided in at least a plurality of layers, and the widths of the first regions (411-1, 411-2, ……411-n) included in the plurality of layers narrow in correspondence to the thickness direction in which the display is laminated, thereby maintaining the variable characteristics of the display (400) and maximizing the high modulus material (e.g., the second regions (413-1, 413-2, ……413-n) and the third regions (415-1, 415-2, ……415-n)) in the vicinity where the display (400) is exposed to the outside, thereby providing a predetermined durability.

[0166] According to one embodiment, in order for the first adhesive layer (410) to be composed of multiple layers, a first-first adhesive layer (410-1), a first-second adhesive layer (410-2), ... ... and a first-nth adhesive layer (410-n) constituting the first adhesive layer (410) may be laminated. The process and device for manufacturing the first adhesive layer (410) are described in FIGS. 5 to 7.

[0167] FIG. 5 is a flowchart for manufacturing an adhesive layer (e.g., adhesive layer (410) of FIG. 4) according to one embodiment. That is, it can be understood as a process flowchart for manufacturing a plurality of adhesive layers (e.g., 1-1 adhesive layer (410-1), 1-2 adhesive layer (410-2), ……1-n adhesive layer (410-n)) constituting the adhesive layer (410). A single adhesive layer (adhesive layer (710) of FIG. 6) illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7 below may correspond to the 1-1 adhesive layer (410-1). Some steps of each step illustrated in the flowchart may be omitted or repeated depending on the process, and the order of some steps may be changed.

[0168] Referring to FIG. 5, in step 510, an adhesive (e.g., an adhesive (650) of FIG. 6) may be injected into a partitioned area of an injection unit (e.g., an injection unit (630) of FIG. 6). The injection unit (630) may have a base surface (e.g., a base surface (631) of FIG. 7) having a predetermined width and side walls (e.g., a first side wall (632) and a second side wall (635) of FIG. 7) having a predetermined height, thereby forming a predetermined space into which the adhesive (650) is injected. The injection unit (630) may be partitioned into one or more areas. When the injection unit (630) is partitioned into at least two areas, the injection unit (630) may include one or more partition walls (e.g., a first partition wall (633) and a second partition wall (634) of FIG. 7) having a predetermined height.

[0169] According to one embodiment, the input section (630) may include a first input section (S1) (630a) formed by a base surface (631), a first side wall (632), and a first partition wall (633). The input section (630) may include a second input section (S2) (630b) formed by a base surface (631), a first partition wall (633), and a second partition wall (634). The input section (630) may include a third input section (S3) (630c) formed by a base surface (631), a second partition wall (634), and a second partition wall (635).

[0170] According to one embodiment, the width of the first input portion (630a) is w a , the width of the second input section (630b) is w b , the width of the third input section (630c) is w c By adjusting the positions of the first side wall and the second side wall (631, 635) and the first to third bulkheads (632, 633, 634), the width (w) of the first input portion (630a) to the third input portion (630c) can be set. a , w b , w c ) can be changed. The width (w) of the first input section (630a) to the third input section (630c) a, w b , w c ) may be substantially the same as the width of the first to third regions (411-1, 413-1, 415-1) included in the adhesive layer (410-1).

[0171] According to one embodiment, an adhesive (650) may be introduced into the first to third injection portions (630c). The adhesive (650) may include a first adhesive (651), a second adhesive (653), and a third adhesive (655). The first to third adhesives (651, 653, 655) may have different physical properties. For example, the first adhesive (651) and the third adhesive (655) may be adhesives made of a high modulus material, and the second adhesive (653) may be an adhesive made of a low modulus material. The introduced first to third adhesives (651, 653, 655) may be in a liquid state having a predetermined adhesiveness.

[0172] In one embodiment, a first adhesive (651) may be introduced into a first input portion (630a). A second adhesive (653) may be introduced into a second input portion (630b). A third adhesive (655) may be introduced into a third input portion (630c).

[0173] According to one embodiment, at least one of the adhesives having different moduli may include a fluorescent material. The fluorescent material may be provided to detect whether the adhesive (651, 653, 655) is provided in an area defined by a boundary surface in an adhesive layer manufactured by the first to third adhesives (651, 653, 655).

[0174] In one embodiment, either the adhesive of the low modulus material or the adhesive of the high modulus material may include a fluorescent material. The fluorescent material may include, for example, stilbenedisulfonic acid, coumarin, pyrazole, naphthalimide, or bisbenzoxazolyle. The fluorescent material may absorb a light source having a specific wavelength range and emit light. For example, the fluorescent material may absorb a light source of 300 to 400 nm and emit light.

[0175] For example, if the first adhesive (651) and the third adhesive (655) are adhesives of a high modulus material and the second adhesive (653) is an adhesive of a low modulus material, the second adhesive (653) may include the fluorescent material, or the first adhesive (651) and the third adhesive (655) may include the fluorescent material. For the convenience of the following description, it will be assumed that the second adhesive (653), which is a low modulus material, includes the fluorescent material and the first and third adhesives (651, 655) do not include the fluorescent material. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the second adhesive (653) may not include the fluorescent material and the first and third adhesives (651, 655) may include the fluorescent material.

[0176] According to one embodiment, the second adhesive (653) may include a fluorescent material at a predetermined ratio. That is, the second adhesive (653) may be manufactured by mixing a fluorescent material at the predetermined ratio into an adhesive member made of a low modulus material. The predetermined ratio may be set to, for example, less than 5%. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the predetermined ratio may be set at a level that does not affect the modulus characteristics or optical characteristics of the second adhesive (653). That is, when the level of change in the elastic modulus due to the fluorescent material mixed into the second adhesive (653) is below a critical level, the predetermined ratio may be changed.

[0177] According to one embodiment, in step 520, the distance between the upper roller (e.g., the first roller (611) of FIG. 6) and the lower roller (e.g., the second roller (613) of FIG. 6) can be adjusted. A first film (e.g., the first film (621) of FIG. 6) can be fed to the lower portion of the first roller (611), and a second film (e.g., the second film (623) of FIG. 6) can be fed to the upper portion of the second roller (613). An adhesive (650) can be placed between the first film (621) and the second film (623).

[0178] According to one embodiment, the thickness of the adhesive layer (410-1) can be controlled by adjusting the distance between the first roller (611) and the second roller (613). The first to third adhesives (651, 653, 655) disposed between the first film (621) and the second film (623) pass between the first roller (611) and the second roller (613) and, due to a predetermined pressure applied, the interface between the first adhesive (651) and the second adhesive (653) and / or the interface between the second adhesive (653) and the third adhesive (655) can be mixed. Through this, the physical properties between the interfaces can be gradually changed.

[0179] According to one embodiment, in step 530, the adhesive layer (410-1) can be pulled out with a predetermined tensile force. The adhesive layer (410) can come into contact with a portion of a third roller (e.g., the third roller (615) of FIG. 6) and move toward a hardening portion (e.g., the hardening portion (640) of FIG. 6).

[0180] According to one embodiment, in step 540, the curing unit (640) can cure the adhesive layer (410). To this end, the curing unit (640) can irradiate ultraviolet rays to the adhesive layer (410).

[0181] According to one embodiment, by irradiating a light source having a predetermined wavelength onto the adhesive layer (410), it is possible to detect whether the first to third adhesives (651, 653, 655) are disposed in an area defined based on the boundary surface of the adhesive layer (410). Among the first to third adhesives (651, 653, 655), the second adhesive (653), which is a low modulus material, may include a fluorescent material that absorbs and emits light at the predetermined wavelength. Here, the light source may have a wavelength range of, for example, 300 to 400 nm. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the light source may include a light source having a wavelength range other than a wavelength of the visible light range (e.g., 400 nm to 700 nm).

[0182] According to one embodiment, a light source having a predetermined wavelength can be irradiated onto the adhesive layer (410). The fluorescent material included in the second adhesive (653) can absorb the light source and emit light. As a result, the area where the second adhesive (653) is provided can emit light by the light source.

[0183] FIG. 6 is a drawing illustrating a process for manufacturing an adhesive layer from a manufacturing device (600) according to one embodiment.

[0184] Fig. 7 is a drawing illustrating a process for manufacturing an adhesive layer from a manufacturing device (600) according to one embodiment. Fig. 7 may be understood as a plan view viewed from above of Fig. 6, which is depicted as a front view.

[0185] Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, the manufacturing device (600) may include rollers (611, 613, 615), an input unit (630), and a curing unit (640). The manufacturing device (600) may manufacture an adhesive layer (710) by placing an adhesive (650) between a first film (621) and a second film (623).

[0186] According to one embodiment, the rollers (611, 613, 615) may be provided to move the first film (621), the second film (623), and the adhesive layer (710) at a predetermined speed. The rollers (611, 613, 615) may be rotated at a predetermined speed by a motor (not shown). The first film (621), the second film (623), and the adhesive layer (710) in contact with one surface of the rollers (611, 613, 615) may move at a predetermined speed in response to the rotation of the rollers (611, 613, 615). The rollers (611, 613, 615) may include a first roller (611), a second roller (613), and a third roller (615).

[0187] According to one embodiment, the first roller (611) and the second roller (613) can be spaced apart at a predetermined interval. The predetermined interval can determine the width of the adhesive layer (710).

[0188] In one embodiment, the third roller (615) can move the adhesive layer (710) past the hardening portion (640).

[0189] According to one embodiment, the injection unit (630) may have a predetermined space formed by the base surface (631) and side walls (632, 635) into which the adhesive (650) is injected. The injection unit (630) may be divided into one or more regions. When the injection unit (630) is divided into at least two regions, the injection unit (630) may include one or more partition walls (e.g., the first partition wall (633) and the second partition wall (634) of FIG. 6).

[0190] According to one embodiment, the input portion (630) may include a first input portion (630a) formed by a base surface (631), a first side wall (632), and a first partition wall (633). The input portion (630) may include a second input portion (630b) formed by a base surface (631), a first partition wall (633), and a second partition wall (634). The input portion (630) may include a third input portion (630c) formed by a base surface (631), a second partition wall (634), and a second partition wall (635).

[0191] According to one embodiment, the width of the first input portion (630a) is w a , the width of the second input section (630b) is w b , the width of the third input section (630c) is w c By adjusting the positions of the first side wall and the second side wall (631, 635) and the first to third bulkheads (632, 633, 634), the width (w) of the first input portion (630a) to the third input portion (630c) can be set. a , w b , w c ) can be changed. The width (w) of the first input section (630a) to the third input section (630c) a , w b , w c ) can form the width of the first to third regions (411-1, 413-1, 415-1) included in the adhesive layer (410-1).

[0192] In one embodiment, the curing unit (640) can radiate ultraviolet light toward the adhesive layer (710).

[0193] According to one embodiment, an adhesive (650) is provided between a first film (621) and a second film (623), and can be pressed to a predetermined thickness by a first roller (611) and a second roller (613). The boundary of the first adhesive to the third adhesive (651, 653, 655) included in the adhesive (650) can be mixed by the first roller (611) and the second roller (613), thereby gradually changing the physical properties at the boundary. In this regard, this will be described later with reference to FIG. 8.

[0194] According to one embodiment, a plurality of adhesive layers can be manufactured by adjusting the width and thickness of the adhesive layer (710), and the adhesive layer (410) of FIG. 4 can be manufactured by laminating the plurality of adhesive layers. The plurality of adhesive layers can be laminated by a roll laminating method.

[0195] FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view of a plurality of unit adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) constituting an adhesive layer (710) according to one embodiment (e.g., the first-first adhesive layer (410-1), the first-second adhesive layer (410-2), ……the first-nth adhesive layer (410-n) of FIG. 4). The plurality of unit adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) may be manufactured by the manufacturing process of FIGS. 5 to 7. The plurality of unit adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) may be laminated by a roll laminating method to form the adhesive layer (710). The adhesive layer (710) may correspond at least in part or in whole to the adhesive layer (410) of FIG. 4.

[0196] Referring to FIG. 8, the adhesive layer (710) may include a plurality of unit adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n). The plurality of unit adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) may include a first adhesive layer (710-1) (e.g., the 1-1 adhesive layer (410-1) of FIG. 4), a second adhesive layer (710-2) (e.g., the 1-2 adhesive layer (410-2) of FIG. 4), … … an n-th adhesive layer (710-n) (e.g., the 1-n-th adhesive layer (410-n) of FIG. 4). Hereinafter, the description will be centered on the first adhesive layer (710-1) included in the first to n-th adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n), and the description of the remaining adhesive layers included in the first to n-th adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) may be applied to the description of the first adhesive layer (710-1).

[0197] According to one embodiment, the upper surface (716-1) of the first adhesive layer (710-1) may be formed by a first film (e.g., the first film (621) of FIG. 6). The lower surface (717-1) of the first adhesive layer (710-1) may be formed by a second film (e.g., the second film (623) of FIG. 6).

[0198] According to one embodiment, the first-first adhesive layer (710-1) may include a first-first region (711-1), a first-second region (713-1), and a first-third region (715-1). The first-first region (711-1) may be formed by a second adhesive (e.g., the second adhesive (653) of FIG. 7) introduced into the second input portion (630b), the first-second region (713-1) may be formed by a first adhesive (e.g., the first adhesive (651) of FIG. 7) introduced into the first input portion (630a), and the first-third region (715-1) may be formed by a third adhesive (e.g., the third adhesive (655) of FIG. 7) introduced into the third input portion (630c).

[0199] According to one embodiment, the first region (711-1) may include a fluorescent material (e.g., a fluorescent material of FIG. 5). The fluorescent material may include, for example, stilbenedisulfonic acid, coumarin, pyrazole, naphthalimide, or bisbenzoxazolyle. The fluorescent material may absorb a light source having a specific wavelength range and emit light. The fluorescent material may, for example, absorb a light source of 300 to 400 nm and emit light.

[0200] According to one embodiment, it is possible to check whether adhesives having different moduli are provided based on the partitioned boundary of the adhesive (710). For example, when a light source having a predetermined wavelength is irradiated to the 1-1 region (711-1), a fluorescent material included in the 1-1 region (711-1) can emit light. Through this, it is possible to check whether an adhesive made of a low modulus material (e.g., the second adhesive (653) of FIG. 6) is provided in the 1-1 region (711-1).

[0201] According to one embodiment, the width (w12) of the first-1 region (711-1) is equal to the width (w) of the second input section (630b). b ) may be substantially the same as the width (w11) of the first-second region (713-1). The width (w) of the first input section (630a) is a ) may be substantially the same as the width (w13) of the 1st-3rd region (715-1) of the 3rd input section (630c). c ) can be substantially identical.

[0202] According to one embodiment, the boundary between the first-first region (711-1) and the first-second region (713-1) and the boundary between the first-second region (713-1) and the first-third region (715-1) can be mixed by a first roller (e.g., the first roller (611) of FIG. 6) and a second roller (e.g., the second roller (613) of FIG. 6). The mixed region near the boundary between the first-first region (711-1) and the first-second region (713-1) can be referred to as a first-first mixed region (712-1), and the mixed region near the boundary between the first-second region (713-1) and the first-third region (715-1) can be referred to as a first-second mixed region (714-1).

[0203] According to one embodiment, the physical characteristics of the first-first mixed region (712-1) may gradually change. For example, the physical characteristics of a vicinity adjacent to the first-first region (711-1) in the first-first mixed region (712-1) may be substantially the same as the physical characteristics of the first-first region (711-1), and the physical characteristics of a vicinity adjacent to the first-second region (713-1) in the first-first mixed region (712-1) may be substantially the same as the physical characteristics of the first-second region (713-1). For example, the modulus value of the first-first mixed region (712-1) may increase as one moves from the first-first region (711-1) toward the first-second region (713-1). For example, the modulus value at the midpoint of the 1-1 mixed region (712-1) may indicate an average value of the modulus value of the 1-1 region (711-1) and the modulus value of the 1-2 region (713-1).

[0204] According to one embodiment, the physical characteristics of the first-second mixed region (714-1) may gradually change. For example, the physical characteristics of the vicinity adjacent to the first-first region (711-1) in the first-second mixed region (714-1) may be substantially the same as the physical characteristics of the first-first region (711-1), and the physical characteristics of the vicinity adjacent to the first-third region (715-1) in the first-second mixed region (714-1) may be substantially the same as the physical characteristics of the first-third region (715-1). For example, the modulus value of the first-second mixed region (714-1) may increase as one moves from the first-first region (711-1) toward the first-third region (715-1). For example, the modulus value at the midpoint of the 1-2 mixed region (714-1) may indicate an average value of the modulus value of the 1-1 region (711-1) and the modulus value of the 1-3 region (715-1).

[0205] According to one embodiment, the physical properties between the regions forming the adhesive layer (710) may be gradually changed due to the formation of the first-first mixing region (712-1) and the first-second mixing region (714-1). Accordingly, the visual perception of the interface may be minimized due to the gradual change in thickness, refractive index, and / or transmittance at the interface of the adhesive layer (710).

[0206] According to one embodiment, the first to nth adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) may be sequentially laminated. For example, the adhesive layer (710) may be arranged in such a manner that the first to nth adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) are sequentially laminated from the top. The first to nth adhesive layers (710-1, 710-2, ……710-n) may be laminated by a roll laminating method.

[0207] FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view of a display (900) (e.g., display (300) of FIG. 3) according to one embodiment.

[0208] FIG. 10 is a cross-sectional view of a display (900) (e.g., display (300) of FIG. 3) according to one embodiment.

[0209] FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view of a display (900) (e.g., display (300) of FIG. 3) according to one embodiment.

[0210] FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional view of a display (900) (e.g., display (300) of FIG. 3) according to one embodiment.

[0211] The adhesive layers (910, 1010, 1110, 1120, 1130) illustrated in FIGS. 9 to 12 (e.g., the adhesive layer (410) of FIG. 4 or the adhesive layer (710) of FIG. 8) may be understood to illustrate possible embodiments corresponding to various arrangement structures in the display laminate structure. That is, the adhesive layers (910, 1010, 1110, 1120, 1130) may be selectively and / or overlappingly applied to the adhesive layers provided in the display laminate structure. Accordingly, at least some configurations may correspond, and overlapping descriptions will be omitted, with differences primarily illustrated.

[0212] Referring to FIG. 9, a display (900) may include a display panel (301), a glass layer (302), and a protective layer (303). In order for the layers included in the display (900) to form a laminated structure, adhesive layers (910, 920) may be provided between the layers. The adhesive layers (910, 920) may include a first adhesive layer (910) and a second adhesive layer (920). The first adhesive layer (910) may correspond to the second adhesive layer (320) of FIG. 3A, and the second adhesive layer (920) may correspond to the first adhesive layer (310) of FIG. 3A.

[0213] According to one embodiment, a first adhesive layer (910) may be disposed between the display panel (301) and the glass layer (302) to adhere the display panel (301) and the glass layer (302). A second adhesive layer (920) may be disposed between the glass layer (302) and the protective layer (303) to adhere the glass layer (302) and the protective layer (303).

[0214] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (910) may include a first region (911) composed of a low modulus material, and second and third regions (913, 915) composed of a high modulus material. The first region (911) may be provided to correspond to a deformable region, which is a region where the shape of the display (900) is deformed, and the second and third regions (913, 915) may be provided to correspond to a non-deformable region, which is a region where the shape of the display (900) is not deformed.

[0215] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (910) may be implemented as one layer or may be implemented as multiple layers. For example, when the first adhesive layer (910) is implemented as multiple layers, the first adhesive layer (910) may correspond to the first adhesive layer (310) of FIG. 4. When implemented as multiple layers, the width of the first region (911) included in the first adhesive layer (910) may widen in the thickness direction from the protective layer (303) to the display panel (302). Since the proportion of the high modulus region at the outermost part of the display (900) increases, high durability against external impact can be provided.

[0216] According to one embodiment, a region in which a high modulus material and a low modulus material are mixed may exist at the interface between the first region to the third region (913, 915) included in the first adhesive layer (910). In addition, the physical properties (e.g., transmittance and / or refractive index) at the interface between the first region to the third region (911, 913, 915) may gradually change. In this case, the first adhesive layer (910) may correspond to the adhesive layer (710) of FIG. 8. This can minimize the visual perception of the interface.

[0217] Referring to FIGS. 10 to 12, a display (1000, 1100, 1200) may include a display panel (301), a glass layer (302), and a protective layer (303). The protective layer (303) may include a first protective layer (303-1) and a second protective layer (303-2). The first protective layer (303-1) and the second protective layer (303-2) may be composed of the same material (e.g., polymer). The first protective layer (303-1) and the second protective layer (303-2) may have different hardnesses. That is, the first protective layer (303-1) may be implemented as a high-hardness protective layer, and the second protective layer (303-2) may be implemented as a low-hardness protective layer.

[0218] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layers (1010, 1020, 1030) may include a first adhesive layer (1010), a second adhesive layer (1020), and a third adhesive layer (1030). The first adhesive layer (1010) may be provided between the first protective layer (303-1) and the second protective layer (303-2) to adhere the first protective layer (303-1) and the second protective layer (303-2). The second adhesive layer (1020) may be provided between the second protective layer (303-2) and the glass layer (302) to adhere the second protective layer (303-2) and the glass layer (302). A third adhesive layer (1030) may be provided between the glass layer (302) and the display panel (301) to adhere the glass layer (302) and the display panel (301).

[0219] According to one embodiment, at least one of the first to third adhesive layers (1010, 1020, 1030) may be implemented as an adhesive layer composed of a region of a high modulus material and a region of a low modulus material. In FIG. 10, the first adhesive layer (1010) may be composed of a region of a high modulus material and a region of a low modulus material. In FIG. 11, the first adhesive layer (1010) and the second adhesive layer (1020) may be composed of a region of a high modulus material and a region of a low modulus material. In FIG. 12, the first to third adhesive layers (1010, 1020, 1030) may be composed of a region of a high modulus material and a region of a low modulus material. Hereinafter, among the first to third adhesive layers (1010, 1020, 1030), the adhesive layer composed of a region of a high modulus material and a region of a low modulus material may be subject to the contents described in the first adhesive layer (1010).

[0220] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (1010) may include a first region (1011) composed of a low modulus material, and second and third regions (1013, 1015) composed of a high modulus material. The first region (1011) may be provided to correspond to a deformable region, which is a region where the shape of the display (1000) is deformed, and the second and third regions (1013, 1015) may be provided to correspond to a non-deformable region, which is a region where the shape of the display (1000) is not deformed.

[0221] According to one embodiment, the first adhesive layer (1010) may be implemented as one layer or may be implemented as multiple layers. For example, when the first adhesive layer (1010) is implemented as multiple layers, the first adhesive layer (1010) may correspond to the first adhesive layer (410) of FIG. 4. When implemented as multiple layers, the width of the first region (1011) included in the first adhesive layer (1010) may widen in the thickness direction from the protective layer (303) to the display panel (302). Since the proportion of the high modulus region at the outermost part of the display (1000) increases, high durability against external impact can be provided.

[0222] According to one embodiment, a region in which a high modulus material and a low modulus material are mixed may exist at the interface between the first region to the third region (1013, 915) included in the first adhesive layer (1010). In addition, physical properties (e.g., transmittance and / or refractive index) at the interface between the first region to the third region (1011, 1013, 1015) may gradually change. In this case, the first adhesive layer (1010) may correspond to the adhesive layer (710) of FIG. 8.

[0223] Not limited to what is shown, the adhesive layer mentioned in the present disclosure (e.g., the first adhesive layer (310) of FIG. 3a, the adhesive layer (410) of FIG. 4, the adhesive layer (710) of FIG. 8, and the first adhesive layer (1010) of FIGS. 10 to 12) can be applied in various cases where the adhesive layer provided in the display laminate structure is composed of regions of high modulus material and low modulus material.

[0224] FIG. 13 is a diagram illustrating an unfolded state of an electronic device (1201) (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) according to one embodiment.

[0225] FIG. 14 is an exploded perspective view of an electronic device (1201) according to one embodiment.

[0226] Referring to FIG. 13, an electronic device (1201) according to various embodiments may include a foldable housing (1300a), and a flexible or foldable display (1300) (hereinafter, referred to as “display” (1300) for short) disposed within a space formed by the foldable housing (1300a) (e.g., a display device (160) of FIG. 1).

[0227] According to various embodiments, a surface on which a display (1300) is disposed may be defined as a front surface of an electronic device (1201). The front surface of the electronic device (1201) may be formed by a front plate (e.g., a glass plate including various coating layers, or a polymer plate) at least partially transparent. A surface opposite the front surface may be defined as a rear surface of the electronic device (1201). The rear surface of the electronic device (1201) may be formed by a substantially opaque rear plate (hereinafter referred to as a “rear cover”). The rear cover may be formed by, for example, coated or colored glass, ceramic, polymer, metal (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel (STS), or magnesium), or a combination of at least two of the above materials. In addition, a surface surrounding a space between the front surface and the rear surface may be defined as a side surface of the electronic device (1201). The side surface may be formed by a side bezel structure (or “side member”) that is coupled to the front plate and the rear cover and includes a metal and / or a polymer. In some embodiments, the rear cover and side bezel structures may be formed integrally and include the same material (e.g., a metal material such as aluminum).

[0228] According to various embodiments, the electronic device (1201) may include at least one of a display (1300), an audio module (1304, 1305, 1306), a sensor module (1309), a camera module (1307, 1308), a key input device (1311, 1312, 1313), and a connector hole (1314).

[0229] According to various embodiments, the display (1300) may be a display in which at least a portion of the display can be transformed into a flat or curved surface. According to one embodiment, the display (1300) may include a folding area (1303), a first area (1301) positioned on one side (e.g., the upper side of the folding area (1303) illustrated in FIG. 13) with respect to the folding area (1303), and a second area (1302) positioned on the other side (e.g., the lower side of the folding area (1303) illustrated in FIG. 13). However, the division of the areas of the display (1300) illustrated in FIG. 13A is exemplary, and the display (1300) may be divided into a plurality of areas (e.g., four or more or two) depending on the structure or function. For example, in the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 13, the display (1300) may be divided into regions by a folding region (1303) or a folding axis (A-A'), but in other embodiments, the display (1300) may be divided into regions by other folding regions or other folding axes (e.g., a folding axis perpendicular to the folding axis (A-A')).

[0230] According to various embodiments, the electronic device (1201) can be variable between a folded state and an unfolded state. The electronic device (1201) can be folded in two ways: 'in-folding', in which the front of the electronic device (1201) is folded so that it forms an acute angle when viewed along a folding axis (e.g., A-A' of FIG. 13), and 'out-folding', in which the front of the electronic device (1201) is folded so that it forms an obtuse angle. For example, in the folded state of the electronic device (1201) in the in-folding manner, the first side (1310a) can face the third side (1320a), and in the fully unfolded state, the third direction can be the same as the first direction. As another example, the electronic device (1201) may be folded in an out-folding manner so that the second side (1310b) faces the fourth side (1320b).

[0231] The above in-folding type may refer to a state in which the display (1300) is not exposed to the outside in a fully folded state. The above out-folding type may refer to a state in which the display (1300) is exposed to the outside in a fully folded state. For convenience, the following description will focus on an in-folding type electronic device (1201), but it should be noted that these descriptions may also be applied to an out-folding type electronic device (1201).

[0232] According to various embodiments, the audio module (1304, 1305, 1306) may include a microphone hole (1304) and a speaker hole (1305, 1306). The microphone hole (1304) may have a microphone disposed inside to acquire external sounds, and in some embodiments, multiple microphones may be disposed to detect the direction of sounds. The speaker hole (1305, 1306) may include an external speaker hole (1305) and a call receiver hole (1306). In some embodiments, the speaker hole (1305, 1306) and the microphone hole (1304) may be implemented as a single hole, or a speaker may be included without the speaker hole (1305, 1306) (e.g., a piezo speaker). The positions and numbers of the microphone hole (1304) and the speaker holes (1305, 1306) may vary depending on the embodiment.

[0233] According to various embodiments, the camera module (1307, 1308) may include a first camera device (1307) disposed on a first side (1310a) of a first housing (1410) of the electronic device (1201), and a second camera device (1308) disposed on a second side (1310b). For example, an assembled configuration including a first housing (1421) and further including at least one component among a first bracket assembly (1423), a first printed circuit board (1431), and a first battery (1433) disposed inside the first housing (1421) may be referred to as a 'first housing structure'. In another example, an assembled configuration including a second housing (1422) and further including at least one component among a second bracket assembly (1424), a second printed circuit board (1432), and a second battery (1434) disposed inside the second housing (1422) may be referred to as a 'second housing structure'. However, it should be noted that the 'first housing structure and second housing structure' here are not limited to the addition of the above-described components, and may additionally include or omit various other components.

[0252] According to various embodiments, the flexible connecting member (1450) may connect various electrical components arranged on a first printed circuit board (1431) and a second printed circuit board (1432), for example, as a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB). To this end, the flexible connecting member (1450) may be arranged to cross the 'first housing structure' and the 'second housing structure'. According to one embodiment, the flexible connecting member (1450) may be formed to at least partially span the hinge structure (1440). According to one embodiment, the flexible connecting member (1450) may be configured to connect the hinge structure (1440) to the first printed circuit board (1431) and the second printed circuit board (1432). For another example, the flexible connecting member (1450) can be fitted into and connected to the openings (1441h, 1442h) formed in the hinge structure (1440). At this time, a part (1450a) of the flexible connecting member (1450) can be arranged to span one side (e.g., the upper side) of the first hinge structure (1441), and another part (1450b) of the flexible connecting member (1450) can be arranged to span one side (e.g., the upper side) of the second hinge structure (1442). In addition, another part (1450c) of the flexible connecting member (1450) can be arranged to span the other side (e.g., the lower side) of the first hinge structure (1441) and the second hinge structure (1442). A space (hereinafter referred to as “hinge space”) may be formed adjacent to the first hinge structure (1441) and the second hinge structure (1442), wherein at least a portion of the first hinge structure (1441), at least a portion of the second hinge structure (1442), and at least a portion of the hinge cover (1460) surround the space. According to one embodiment, at least a portion (1450c) of the flexible connecting member (1450) may be arranged within the hinge space.

[0253] According to various embodiments, the hinge cover (1460) may be configured to surround at least a portion of the hinge space. The hinge cover (1460) may close the hinge space together with the hinge structure (1440) and protect a component (e.g., at least a portion (1450c) of the flexible connecting member (1450)) disposed within the hinge space from external impact. According to one embodiment, the hinge cover (1460) may be disposed between the first housing (1421) and the second housing (1422). According to one embodiment, the hinge cover (1460) may be coupled to at least a portion of the first housing and at least a portion of the second housing, respectively.

[0254] According to various embodiments, the antenna structure (1470) (e.g., the antenna module (197) of FIG. 1) may be disposed between the rear cover (1480) and the battery. The antenna structure (1470) may include a plurality of antenna modules in one electronic device (1201). For example, the antenna structure (1470) may include a first antenna module (1471) disposed on the first housing (1421) side and a second antenna module (1472) disposed on the second housing (1422) side. The antenna module may include at least one radiator. In addition, the antenna structure (1470) may include, for example, a near field communication (NFC) antenna, a wireless charging antenna, and / or a magnetic secure transmission (MST) antenna. The antenna structure (1470) may, for example, perform short-range communication with an external device or wirelessly transmit and receive power required for charging. In other embodiments, the antenna structure may be formed by a portion or combination of the side bezel structure and / or the bracket assembly of the foldable housing (1420).

[0255] According to various embodiments, the rear cover (1480) may include a first rear cover (1481) and a second rear cover (1482). The rear cover (1480) may be combined with the foldable housing (1420) to protect the above-described components (e.g., printed circuit board (1430), battery, flexible connecting member (1450), antenna structure (1470)) disposed within the foldable housing (1420). As described above, the rear cover (1480) may be formed substantially integrally with the foldable housing (1420).

[0256] According to one embodiment, the display (1300) may correspond to the display (300, 400) of FIG. 3A or FIG. 4. The first region (1301) and the second region (1302) of the display (1300) may correspond to the non-deformable portion, and the third region (1303) of the display (1300) may correspond to the deformable portion.

[0257] According to one embodiment, in order for the display (1300) to be implemented in a laminated structure, it may include an adhesive layer (e.g., the adhesive layer (910) of FIG. 9). The adhesive layer (910) may include a first region (911) of a low modulus material and second and third regions (913, 915) of a high modulus material corresponding to a deformable portion and a non-deformable portion.

[0258] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layer (910) may be implemented as a single layer or may be implemented as a plurality of layers. For example, when the adhesive layer (910) is implemented as a plurality of layers, the width of the first region (911) included in the adhesive layer (910) may be widened in response to the bottom direction of the display (1300) (e.g., the thickness direction extending from the protective layer (303) to the display panel (302) in FIG. 9). Since the proportion of the high modulus region at the outermost portion of the display (900) increases, high durability against external impact can be provided.

[0259] According to one embodiment, near the boundary between the high modulus material and the low modulus material included in the adhesive layer (910), a region in which the high modulus material and the low modulus material are mixed (e.g., the first-first mixed region (712-1) or the first-second mixed region (714-1) of FIG. 8) may exist. In addition, physical properties (e.g., transmittance and / or refractive index) at the boundary between the first region to the third region (911, 913, 915) may gradually change. In this case, the first adhesive layer (910) may correspond to the adhesive layer (710) of FIG. 8. This can minimize the visual perception of the boundary.

[0260] FIG. 15 is a diagram illustrating an unfolded state of an electronic device (1500) (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) according to one embodiment.

[0261] FIG. 16 is an exploded perspective view of an electronic device (1500) according to one embodiment.

[0262] Referring to FIGS. 15 and 16 , in one embodiment, an electronic device (1500) may include a foldable housing (1510), a hinge cover (1513) covering a foldable portion of the foldable housing (1510), and a flexible or foldable display (1521) disposed within a space formed by the foldable housing (1510). In this document, a surface on which the display (1521) is disposed is defined as a first surface or the front surface of the electronic device (1500). The surface opposite the front surface is defined as a second surface or the back surface of the electronic device (1500). In addition, a surface surrounding the space between the front surface and the back surface is defined as a third surface or the side surface of the electronic device (1500).

[0263] In one embodiment, the foldable housing (1510) may include a first housing structure (1511), a second housing structure (1512) including a sensor area (15122), a first rear cover (1514), and a second rear cover (1515). The foldable housing (1510) of the electronic device (1500) is not limited to the shape and combination illustrated in FIGS. 15 and 9B and may be implemented by other shapes or combinations and / or combinations of parts. For example, in another embodiment, the first housing structure (1511) and the first rear cover (1514) may be formed integrally, and the second housing structure (1512) and the second rear cover (1515) may be formed integrally.

[0264] In one embodiment, the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) are arranged on both sides with respect to the folding axis (axis A) as the center, and may have an overall symmetrical shape with respect to the folding axis (A). As described below, the angle or distance between the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) may vary depending on whether the state of the electronic device (1500) is in an unfolded state, a folded state, or an intermediate state. In one embodiment, the second housing structure (1512), unlike the first housing structure (1511), additionally includes a sensor area (15122) in which various sensors are arranged, but may have a mutually symmetrical shape in the other areas. In another embodiment, the sensor area (15122) may be additionally arranged in or replaced with at least a portion of the first housing structure (1511) or the second housing structure (1512).

[0265] In one embodiment, the electronic device (1500) may be operated in an in-folding manner and / or an out-folding manner by allowing the first housing structure (1510) to rotate with respect to the second housing structure (1520) within a range of 0 to 360 degrees via a hinge structure (not shown). According to various embodiments, the hinge structure may be formed in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction when the electronic device (1500) is viewed from above. According to various embodiments, the hinge structure may be plural. For example, all of the plurality of hinge structures may be arranged in the same direction. As another example, some of the plurality of hinge structures may be arranged in different directions and folded.

[0266] In one embodiment, as illustrated in FIG. 15, the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) may together form a recess that accommodates a display (1521). In one embodiment, due to the sensor area (15122), the recess may have two or more different widths in a direction perpendicular to the folding axis A.

[0267] For example, the recess may have a first width (W1) between a first portion (1511a) of the first housing structure (1511) that is parallel to the folding axis (A) and a first portion (1512a) formed at an edge of the sensor area (15122) of the second housing structure (1512), and a second width (W2) formed by a second portion (1511b) of the first housing structure (1511) and a second portion (1512b) of the second housing structure (1512) that is parallel to the folding axis A and does not correspond to the sensor area (15122) of the second housing structure (1512). In this case, the second width (W2) may be formed to be longer than the first width (W1). In other words, the first part (1511a) of the first housing structure (1511) and the first part (1512a) of the second housing structure (1512) having mutually asymmetrical shapes may form a first width (W1) of the recess, and the second part (1511b) of the first housing structure (1511) and the second part (1512b) of the second housing structure (1512) having mutually symmetrical shapes may form a second width (W2) of the recess. In one embodiment, the first part (1512a) and the second part (1512b) of the second housing structure (1512) may have different distances from the folding axis A. The width of the recess is not limited to the illustrated example. In various embodiments, the recess may have multiple widths due to the shape of the sensor area (15122) or the asymmetrical shape of the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512).

[0268] In one embodiment, at least a portion of the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) may be formed of a metallic or non-metallic material having a rigidity selected to support the display (1521).

[0269] In one embodiment, the sensor area (15122) may be formed to have a predetermined area adjacent to one corner of the second housing structure (1512). However, the arrangement, shape, and size of the sensor area (15122) are not limited to the illustrated example. For example, in another embodiment, the sensor area (15122) may be provided in another corner of the second housing structure (1512) or in any area between the upper corner and the lower corner. In one embodiment, components for performing various functions built into the electronic device (1500) may be exposed to the front of the electronic device (1500) through the sensor area (15122) or through one or more openings provided in the sensor area (15122). In various embodiments, the components may include various types of sensors. The sensors may include, for example, at least one of a front camera, a receiver, a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, an iris recognition sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, or an indicator.

[0270] In one embodiment, a first rear cover (1514) is disposed on one side of the folding axis on the rear of the electronic device and may have, for example, a substantially rectangular periphery, the periphery of which may be wrapped by the first housing structure (1511). Similarly, a second rear cover (1515) is disposed on the other side of the folding axis on the rear of the electronic device and may have its periphery wrapped by the second housing structure (1512).

[0271] In one embodiment, the first rear cover (1514) and the second rear cover (1515) may have substantially symmetrical shapes about the folding axis (A). However, the first rear cover (1514) and the second rear cover (1515) do not necessarily have mutually symmetrical shapes, and in other embodiments, the electronic device (1500) may include the first rear cover (1514) and the second rear cover (1515) of various shapes. In another embodiment, the first rear cover (1514) may be formed integrally with the first housing structure (1511), and the second rear cover (1515) may be formed integrally with the second housing structure (1512).

[0272] In one embodiment, the first rear cover (1514), the second rear cover (1515), the first housing structure (1511), and the second housing structure (1512) may form a space in which various components of the electronic device (1500) (e.g., a printed circuit board or a battery) may be placed. In one embodiment, one or more components may be placed or visually exposed on the rear surface of the electronic device (1500). For example, at least a portion of the sub-display (15215) may be visually exposed through the first rear area (15141) of the first rear cover (1514). In another embodiment, one or more components or sensors may be visually exposed through the second rear area (15151) of the second rear cover (1515). In various embodiments, the sensors may include a proximity sensor and / or a rear camera.

[0273] Referring to FIG. 9B, a hinge cover (1513) may be configured to be positioned between the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) so as to cover an internal component (e.g., a hinge structure). In one embodiment, the hinge cover (1513) may be covered by a portion of the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) or exposed to the outside, depending on the state of the electronic device (1500) (flat state or folded state).

[0274] For example, as illustrated in FIG. 15, when the electronic device (1500) is in an unfolded state, the hinge cover (1513) may not be exposed because it is covered by the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512). For example, as illustrated in FIG. 9B, when the electronic device (1500) is in a folded state (e.g., a fully folded state), the hinge cover (1513) may be exposed to the outside between the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512). For example, when the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) are in an intermediate state where they are folded at a certain angle, the hinge cover (1513) may be partially exposed to the outside between the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512). However, in this case, the exposed area may be less than in the fully folded state. In one embodiment, the hinge cover (1513) may include a curved surface.

[0275] The display (1521) may be placed on a space formed by the foldable housing (1510). For example, the display (1521) may be placed on a recess formed by the foldable housing (1510) and may constitute most of the front surface of the electronic device (1500).

[0276] Accordingly, the front of the electronic device (1500) may include a display (1521), a portion of a first housing structure (1511) adjacent to the display (1521), and a portion of a second housing structure (1512). And, the back of the electronic device (1500) may include a first rear cover (1514), a portion of a first housing structure (1511) adjacent to the first rear cover (1514), a second rear cover (1515), and a portion of a second housing structure (1512) adjacent to the second rear cover (1515).

[0277] The display (1521) may refer to a display in which at least a portion of the display can be transformed into a flat or curved surface. In one embodiment, the display (1521) may include a folding area (15211), a first area (15212) positioned on one side (the left side of the folding area (15211) illustrated in FIG. 15) relative to the folding area (15211), and a second area (15213) positioned on the other side (the right side of the folding area (15211) illustrated in FIG. 15).

[0278] The division of regions of the display (1521) illustrated in FIG. 15 is exemplary, and the display (1521) may be divided into a plurality of regions (e.g., four or more or two) depending on the structure or function. For example, as illustrated in FIG. 15, the regions of the display (1521) may be divided by a folding region (15211) extending parallel to the y-axis or a folding axis (A), or the regions of the display (1521) may be divided based on another folding region (e.g., a folding region parallel to the x-axis) or another folding axis (e.g., a folding axis parallel to the x-axis).

[0279] The first region (15212) and the second region (15213) may have an overall symmetrical shape centered on the folding region (15211). However, unlike the first region (15212), the second region (15213) may include a cut notch depending on the presence of the sensor region (15122), but may have a shape symmetrical with respect to the first region (15212) in other regions. In other words, the first region (15212) and the second region (15213) may include portions having mutually symmetrical shapes and portions having mutually asymmetrical shapes.

[0280] Hereinafter, the operation of the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) and each area of the display (1521) according to the state (e.g., flat state and folded state) of the electronic device (1500) will be described.

[0281] In one embodiment, when the electronic device (1500) is in a flat state (e.g., FIG. 15), the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) may be arranged to form an angle of 180 degrees and face the same direction. The surface of the first region (15212) and the surface of the second region (15213) of the display (1521) may form an angle of 180 degrees with each other and face the same direction (e.g., toward the front of the electronic device). The folding region (15211) may form the same plane as the first region (15212) and the second region (15213).

[0282] In one embodiment, when the electronic device (1500) is in a folded state, the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) may be arranged to face each other. The surface of the first region (15212) and the surface of the second region (15213) of the display (1521) may form a narrow angle (e.g., between 0 and 10 degrees) with each other and may face each other. The folding region (15211) may be formed as a curved surface having at least a portion of a predetermined curvature.

[0283] In one embodiment, when the electronic device (1500) is in a folded state, the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) may be arranged at a certain angle with respect to each other. The surface of the first region (15212) and the surface of the second region (15213) of the display (1521) may form an angle that is greater than the angle in the folded state and less than the angle in the unfolded state. The folding region (15211) may be formed as a curved surface having at least a portion of a certain curvature, and the curvature in this case may be less than that in the folded state.

[0284] In one embodiment, the electronic device (1500) may include a display portion (1520), a bracket assembly (1530), a substrate portion (1540), a first housing structure (1511), a second housing structure (1512), a first rear cover (1514), and a second rear cover (1515). In this document, the display portion (1520) may be referred to as a display module or a display assembly.

[0285] The display unit (1520) may include a display (1521) and one or more plates or layers (1522) on which the display (1521) is mounted. In one embodiment, the plate (1522) may be disposed between the display (1521) and the bracket assembly (1530). The display (1521) may be disposed on at least a portion of one surface (e.g., an upper surface with reference to FIG. 16) of the plate (1522). The plate (1522) may be formed in a shape corresponding to the display (1521). For example, a portion of the plate (1522) may be formed in a shape corresponding to a notch (15214) of the display (1521).

[0286] The bracket assembly (1530) may include a first bracket (1531), a second bracket (1532), a hinge structure (not shown) disposed between the first bracket (1531) and the second bracket (1532), a hinge cover (1513) that covers the hinge structure when viewed from the outside, and a wiring member (1533) (e.g., a flexible printed circuit (FPC)) that crosses the first bracket (1531) and the second bracket (1532).

[0287] In one embodiment, a bracket assembly (1530) may be positioned between the plate (1522) and the substrate (1540). For example, a first bracket (1531) may be positioned between a first area (15212) of the display (1521) and a first substrate (1541). A second bracket (1532) may be positioned between a second area (15213) of the display (1521) and a second substrate (1542).

[0288] In one embodiment, a wiring member (1533) and at least a portion of a hinge structure may be disposed within the bracket assembly (1530). The wiring member (1533) may be disposed in a direction transverse to the first bracket (1531) and the second bracket (1532) (e.g., in the x-axis direction). The wiring member (1533) may be disposed in a direction perpendicular to a folding axis (e.g., the y-axis or the folding axis (A) of FIG. 15) of a folding area (15211) of the electronic device (1500) (e.g., in the x-axis direction).

[0289] The substrate portion (1540) may include a first substrate (1541) disposed on the first bracket (1531) side and a second substrate (1542) disposed on the second bracket (1532) side, as mentioned above. The first substrate (1541) and the second substrate (1542) may be disposed inside a space formed by the bracket assembly (1530), the first housing structure (1511), the second housing structure (1512), the first rear cover (1514), and the second rear cover (1515). Components for implementing various functions of the electronic device (1500) may be mounted on the first substrate (1541) and the second substrate (1542).

[0290] The first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) can be assembled to each other so as to be coupled to both sides of the bracket assembly (1530) while the display unit (1520) is coupled to the bracket assembly (1530). As described below, the first housing structure (1511) and the second housing structure (1512) can be coupled to the bracket assembly (1530) by sliding on both sides of the bracket assembly (1530).

[0291] In one embodiment, the first housing structure (1511) may include a first rotational support surface (15111), and the second housing structure (1512) may include a second rotational support surface (15121) corresponding to the first rotational support surface (15111). The first rotational support surface (15111) and the second rotational support surface (15121) may include curved surfaces corresponding to curved surfaces included in the hinge cover (1513).

[0292] In one embodiment, the first rotation support surface (15111) and the second rotation support surface (15121) may cover the hinge cover (1513) when the electronic device (1500) is in an unfolded state (e.g., the electronic device of FIG. 15), so that the hinge cover (1513) is not exposed or is minimally exposed to the rear of the electronic device (1500). Meanwhile, the first rotation support surface (15111) and the second rotation support surface (15121) may rotate along a curve included in the hinge cover (1513) when the electronic device (1500) is in a folded state, so that the hinge cover (1513) is maximally exposed to the rear of the electronic device (1500).

[0293] According to one embodiment, the display (1521) may correspond to the display (300, 400) of FIG. 3A or FIG. 4. The first region (15212) and the second region (15213) of the display (1521) may correspond to the non-deformable portion, and the folding region (15211) of the display (1300) may correspond to the deformable portion.

[0294] According to one embodiment, the display (1521) may include an adhesive layer (e.g., the adhesive layer (910) of FIG. 9) to be implemented in a laminated structure. The adhesive layer (910) may include a first region (911) of a low modulus material and second and third regions (913, 915) of a high modulus material corresponding to a deformable portion and a non-deformable portion.

[0295] According to one embodiment, the adhesive layer (910) may be implemented as a single layer or may be implemented as a plurality of layers.

[0296] According to one embodiment, near the boundary between the high modulus material and the low modulus material included in the adhesive layer (910), a region in which the high modulus material and the low modulus material are mixed (e.g., the first-first mixed region (712-1) or the first-second mixed region (714-1) of FIG.
