AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The existing wireless communication systems face challenges in achieving high spectral efficiency due to limitations in conventional Time Division Duplexing (TDD) systems, particularly in terms of reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity. Additionally, dynamic subband full duplex (SBFD) operation introduces issues such as increased bandwidth part (BWP) switching and cross-link interference (CLI) in neighboring cells.

Method used

The proposed solution involves configuring user equipment (UE) and base stations to operate in subband full duplex (SBFD) mode, where the UE is configured with one or two downlink/uplink (DL/UL) bandwidth part (BWP) pairs, with subbands configured as subsets of BWP. This configuration reduces BWP switching and mitigates CLI by aligning dynamic SBFD operations with neighboring cells and using carrier components dynamically.

Benefits of technology

The proposed solution effectively reduces BWP switching and mitigates CLI in dynamic SBFD operations, enhancing spectral efficiency and reducing latency and capacity constraints. By aligning dynamic SBFD operations with neighboring cells and using dynamic carrier component activation/deactivation, the solution improves the flexibility and efficiency of SBFD operations.

Description

USER EQUIPMENT, BASE STATION, AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHODS FOR SBFD OPERATIONTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of wireless communication systems, and more particularly, to a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for subband full duplex (SBFD) operation.BACKGROUND

[0002] The diversified use cases and exponential growth of number of UEs in the next generation wireless communication system have increased the data traffic explosively which leads to the high requirements of spectral efficiency. In order to accomplish the requirements of high spectral efficiency, Time Division Duplexing (TDD) system is widely adopted in commercial NR deployments. TDD system uses a single spectrum (frequency band) for downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) in different time slots, and utilizes the available spectrum more efficiently as compared to the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) system.

[0003] In conventional TDD system, the time domain resources are split between the downlink (DL) , uplink (UL) and flexible slots / symbols, where the flexible slots / symbols can be used as DL, UL or as a guard period for DL-UL switching. Allocation of a limited time duration for uplink in conventional TDD would result in reduced coverage, increased latency and reduced capacity. In order to enhance the limitations of conventional TDD operation, 3GPP RAN working group approves a study item in Rel-18, which focus on the feasibility of simultaneous existence of DL and UL, as known as. full duplex, or more specifically, sub-band non-overlapping full duplex operation within a conventional TDD band. In SBFD operation, gNB is operated in full duplex, i.e., the simultaneous DL and UL transmission occurs at gNB side only while the UE operates in half duplex. The study item specifies RAN1 objectives regarding the sub-band non-overlapping full duplex and dynamic / flexible TDD operation.

[0004] In prior art, no study has been conducted on the effects of dynamic SBFD. Dynamic SBFD can increase the BWP switching in BWP based SBFD and can create CLI in the neighboring cells. Therefore, there is a need to study a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for SBFD operation such as the effect of dynamic SBFD on a bandwidth part (BWP) based SBFD, a cross link interference (CLI) in neighbor cells, and transition time of SBFD operation switching to non-SBFD operation.SUMMARY

[0005] An object of the present disclosure is to propose a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for subband full duplex (SBFD) operation, for example, the present disclosure studies the effect of dynamic SBFD on a bandwidth part (BWP) based SBFD, a cross link interference (CLI) in neighbor cells, and transition time of SBFD operation switching to non-SBFD operation, which can reduce bandwidth part switching and CLI mitigation in dynamic SBFD operation.

[0070] The issues for subband full duplex (SBFD) operation are discussed below, but the issues to be solved by some embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited to this, and some embodiments of the present disclosure can solve the issues discussed below and other issues.

[0071] The SBFD operation can be configured in the existing slot format, such as uplink (UL) subbands being configured in downlink (DL) or flexible slots / symbols through semi-static cell common signaling such as time division duplex (TDD) -UL-DL config common. This configuration aligns with the pattern of TDD-UL-DL config common defined by 5G new radio (NR) with a periodicity of several slots or radio frames. According to  the current specifications, TDD operation can be configured with a transmission periodicity of up to 320 slots in a 10 ms time period. In the same way, the SBFD operation utilizes the existing legacy TDD configuration, and the periodicity of the SBFD operation can be configured for 320 slots in the 10 ms time period.

[0072] However, in actual scenarios, it may not be required to perform SBFD operation with a 10 ms periodicity, and there may be requirement to perform legacy operation i.e., only DL or UL transmission / reception during for a given time during the 10 ms period. Based on this assumption, the semi-statically configured SBFD operation in a slot / symbol can be dynamically changed to DL-only slots / symbols or flexible slots / symbols to perform either DL-only or UL-only transmission / reception. The main focus is whether or not flexibility should be introduced for SBFD operation by dynamic overriding / converting (i.e., dynamic SBFD) , e.g., whether or not a semi-static DL symbol semi-statically configured with UL subband can be converted to a DL-only symbol dynamically, and / or whether or not a semi-static flexible symbol semi-statically configured with UL subband can be converted to a DL-only or UL-only symbol dynamically.

[0073] Furthermore, to improve the flexibility of the SBFD operation and perform it only when it is required, the SBFD slots / symbols can be dynamically configured in semi-statically configured legacy TDD operations. For instance, legacy TDD is configured for a 10 ms period and UL traffic suddenly become high during this 10 ms time period, then legacy TDD slots / symbols can be dynamically changed to perform SBFD operation. In other words, the SBFD can be dynamically scheduled in DL or flexible slots / symbols that are semi-statically configured as legacy TDD.

[0074] Based on the above discussion, the following two cases of dynamic SBFD can be derived:

[0075] Case 1: Semi-statically configured SBFD operation in DL or flexible slots / symbols and dynamically changed to its fall-back operation such as a DL slots / symbols in which SBFD operation is configured can be converted to DL slot / symbol only and a flexible slots / symbols in which SBFD is configured can be converted to Flexible slot only.

[0076] Case 2: Dynamic SBFD operation in semi-statically configured legacy TDD DL or flexible slots / symbol.

[0077] Dynamic change in semi-statically configured SBFD in DL or flexible slots / symbols, and dynamic change in legacy TDD DL or flexible slots / symbols may affect the SBFD operation and bring the following challenges. In other words dynamic SBFD face the following issues.

[0078] Issue 1: BWP switching of dynamically change in semi-static SFBD

[0079] FIG. 1 illustrates an example of baseline SBFD within single DL / UL BWP pair with aligned center frequencies. For SBFD operation within a TDD carrier, SBFD scheme within a single configured DL and UL BWP pair with aligned center frequencies is the baseline, as shown in FIG. 1.

[0080] FIG. 2 illustrates an example of subbands configured as BWP. Enhanced schemes may be considered in the future of duplex evolution where a UE supports two or more UL / DL BWP pairs. For example, one pair of DL / UL BWP can be used for SBFD operation where each subband is configured as a BWP, and another pair can be used for non-SBFD operation, as shown in FIG. 2. However, this configuration of subbands can increase the BWP switching, resulting in high latency.

[0081] FIG. 3 illustrates an example of BWP switching due to dynamic change in SBFD operation. FIG. 4 illustrates an example of BWP switching increases due to dynamic change in SBFD operation. In case the subbands are configured as BWP, and a semi-statically configured SBFD slot / symbol is changed to dynamic SBFD, i.e., SBFD symbols are changed to DL-only or UL-only symbols, as shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, it may trigger BWP switching and increase the number of BWP switching. Therefore, the BWP switching time may increase, resulting in higher latency.

[0082] Issue 2: Interference of dynamic SBFD in neighbor base station

[0083] Case 1:

[0084] FIG. 5 illustrates an example of neighbor cells experience CLI due to semi-statically configured SBFD symbols dynamically change to DL symbol. FIG. 6 illustrates an example of neighbor cells experience CLI due to semi-statically configured SBFD slots dynamically change to DL slots. The semi-static SBFD operations are configured through cell common signaling to ensure a common understanding among gNBs about the transmission direction in a slot / symbol. In case the DL or flexible slots / symbols are configured as semi-static, and some slots / symbols are converted to DL slots / symbols for DL transmission only, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6. It is possible that neighboring cells may not require dynamically changing SBFD slots / symbols to DL-only slots / symbols or flexible slots / symbols. This situation can create cross-link interference (CLI) to the neighbor gNB, which still performs SBFD operations in the same slots / symbols, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, respectively.

[0085] Case 2:

[0086] FIG. 7 illustrates an example of neighbor cells experience CLI due to semi-statically configured slots / symbols dynamically change to SBFD slots / symbols. Similar to Case 1, if legacy TDD operations such as DL, UL, and flexible slots / symbols are semi-statically configured and SBFD operations is triggered dynamically in DL or flexible slots / symbols, it may create cross-link interference (CLI) in the neighboring cells, as shown in FIG. 7.

[0087] Issue 3: switching time / transition time between non-SBFD and SBFD operation

[0088] When a gNB switches from non-SBFD operation to SBFD operation, it may need to switch some of the antenna ports or RF chains from DL transmission to UL reception in order to perform both DL transmission and UL reception. This may require a switching gap or transition time to switch the antenna port from Tx to Rx. Similarly, when dynamic SBFD occurs, such as when a slot / symbol is dynamically converted to DL-only or flexible slot / symbol, the antenna ports or RF chains need to be switched to DL transmission or UL reception, which requires a switching gap or transition time to convert the antenna port from Rx to Tx. Therefore, a proper Rx-Tx and Tx-Rx switching time needs to be designed.

[0089] Further studies in some embodiments of the present disclosure may be needed to understand the effect of dynamic SBFD in BWP based schemes, as well as ways to reduce the CLI effect created by dynamic SBFD in the neighboring cells. Some embodiments of the present invention can address dynamic SBFD and the issues that occur due to the dynamic change in SBFD slots / symbols, such as increasing BWP switching in BWP-based SBFD, neighbor gNB CLI due to dynamic SBFD, and the transition time of SBFD operation and non-SBFD operation due to dynamic changes in dynamic SBFD. In addition, some embodiments of the present invention  assume that the maximum number of transitions or switches between SBFD and non-SBFD is limited to two as a baseline. Therefore, the design of dynamic SBFD should take these rules into account to avoid exceeding the maximum number of transitions between SBFD and non-SBFD symbols within a slot or a given time period. Some embodiments of the present invention can solve at least one of the above issues or other issues.

[0090] FIG. 8 illustrates that, in some embodiments, one or more user equipments (UEs) 10 and a base station (such as network / gNB) 20 for communication in a communication network system 40 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure are provided. The communication network system 40 includes one or more UEs 10 and the base station 20. The one or more UEs 10 may include a memory 12, a transceiver 13, and a processor 11 coupled to the memory 12 and the transceiver 13. The network / gNB 20 may include a memory 22, a transceiver 23, and a processor 21 coupled to the memory 22 and the transceiver 23. The processor 11or 21 may be configured to implement proposed functions, procedures and / or methods described in this description. Layers of radio interface protocol may be implemented in the processor 11 or 21. The memory 12 or 22 is operatively coupled with the processor 11 or 21 and stores a variety of information to operate the processor 11 or 21. The transceiver 13 or 23 is operatively coupled with the processor 11 or 21, and the transceiver 13 or 23 transmits and / or receives a radio signal.

[0091] The processor 11 or 21 may include application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , other chipset, logic circuit and / or data processing device. The memory 12 or 22 may include read-only memory (ROM) , random access memory (RAM) , flash memory, memory card, storage medium and / or other storage device. The transceiver 13 or 23 may include baseband circuitry to process radio frequency signals. When the embodiments are implemented in software, the techniques described herein can be implemented with modules (e.g., procedures, functions, and so on) that perform the functions described herein. The modules can be stored in the memory 12 or 22 and executed by the processor 11 or 21. The memory 12 or 22 can be implemented within the processor 11 or 21 or external to the processor 11 or 21 in which case those can be communicatively coupled to the processor 11 or 21 via various means as is known in the art.

[0092] In FIG. 9A to FIG. 19, some embodiments of the present disclosure discuss several solutions to reduce BWP (Bandwidth Part) switching, which may occur due to dynamic SBFD as discussed in the above. BWP switching can be time-consuming and increase transmission delay, as well as require retuning of the RF and consume more power if the UE frequently switches BWP.

[0093] FIG. 9A is a flowchart illustrating a wireless communication method 910 for SBFD operation by a UE according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The UE in FIG. 9 may be the UE 10 in FIG. 8. The wireless communication method 910 for SBFD operation by the UE may comprise an operation 911, being configured with one downlink / uplink (DL / UL) bandwidth part (BWP) pair, wherein in the one DL / UL BWP pair, subbands are configured as at least one subset of BWP; or an operation 912, being configured with at least two DL / UL BWP pairs, wherein in the at least two DL / UL BWP pairs, subbands are configured as at least one BWP. Further, the processor 11 is configured to perform the above method. The processor 11 is also configured to perform the method in the following some embodiments.

[0094] FIG. 9B is a flowchart illustrating a wireless communication method 920 for SBFD operation by a base station (BS) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The BS in FIG. 9B may be the base  station (such as network / gNB) 20 in FIG. 8. The wireless communication method 920 for SBFD operation by the BS may comprise an operation 921, configuring one downlink / uplink (DL / UL) bandwidth part (BWP) pair, wherein in the one DL / UL BWP pair, subbands are configured as at least one subset of BWP; or an operation 922, configuring at least two DL / UL BWP pairs, wherein in the at least two DL / UL BWP pairs, subbands are configured as at least one BWP. Further, the processor 21 is configured to perform the above method. The processor 21 is also configured to perform the method in the following some embodiments.

[0095] As discussed in the above, a subband can be configured as a BWP where the UE supports two UL / DL BWP pairs. For example, one pair of DL / UL BWP can be used for SBFD operation where each subband is configured as a BWP, and another pair can be used for non-SBFD operation. To reduce BWP switching in such cases, some embodiments propose that the subband BWPs be configured as a subset of BWP.

[0096] For instance, as shown in FIG. 1, a BWP is configured with DL / UL BWP pair, where the subbands to the SBFD aware UE is configured by a BS as a subset of BWP. When the UE changes from non SBFD symbol to SBFD symbol, the UE does not need to trigger the BWP switching. In this way there is no need to trigger the BWP switching at all as shown in the following figures.

[0097] FIG. 9C is a schematic diagram illustrating an example of subbands configured as a subset of BWP according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 9C illustrates more details about the operation 911 in FIG. 9A and the operation 921 in FIG. 9B. In some examples, the UE is configured by the BS with one downlink / uplink (DL / UL) bandwidth part (BWP) pair, wherein in the one DL / UL BWP pair, subbands are configured as at least one subset of BWP. In details, for instance, as shown in FIG. 9B, the UE (or called a BWP UE) is configured by the BS with a DL / UL BWP pair, where the subbands for the UE (or called a SBFD-aware UE) are configured as a subset of BWP. If the UE changes from non-SBFD symbol to SBFD symbol, there is no need to trigger BWP switching. This is because the subbands are already configured as a subset of the same BWP, the UE can simply continue using the same BWP rather than needing to switch to a different one. This approach eliminates the need to trigger BWP switching, as shown in the FIG. 9C.

[0098] FIG. 10 illustrates an example wherein BWP subset base subbands reduce BWP switching even in dynamic SBFD according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Furthermore, when a dynamic change occurs and a slot / symbol that is configured as an SBFD slot / symbol changes to transmit DL-only or UL-only, it may not trigger BWP switching, as shown in FIG. 10. In fact, when a subband is configured as a subset of BWP, the base station may not trigger any BWP switching on the UE side when switching from non-SBFD to SBFD operation, as shown in FIG. 10.

[0099] In some embodiments, in a case of configuring the one DL / UL BWP pair, a single DL / UL BWP pair is configured for non-SBFD operation, and a subset of the same DL / UL BWP pair is configured for SBFD operation. In some embodiments, for non-SBFD operation in DL, a first DL BWP is configured; for SBFD operation in DL, at least one subset of a first DL BWP for at least one DL subband is configured; for non-SBFD operation in UL, a first UL BWP is configured; and for SBFD operation in UL, at least one subset of a first UL BWP for at least one UL subband is configured.

[0100] In some embodiments, in a case of being configured with the one DL / UL BWP pair, a subset of DL / UL BWP pair is configured for non-SBFD operation, and another subset of DL / UL BWP pair is configured for  SBFD operation. In some embodiments, for non-SBFD operation in DL, at least one subset of a first DL BWP is configured; for SBFD operation in DL, at least one subset of the first DL BWP for at least one DL subband is configured; for non-SBFD operation in UL, at least one subset of a first UL BWP is configured; and for SBFD operation in UL, at least one subset of the first UL BWP for at least one UL subband is configured.

[0101] In details, in semi-static configuration of BWP SBFD, the following two options can be used to configure BWP subset based subband configuration.

[0102] First Configuration:

[0103] FIG. 11 illustrates an example of a first configuration of BWP subset based subband according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In this option, a single DL / UL BWP pair is configured for non-SBFD operation, within an extension of the subset of DL / UL BWP pair for SBFD operation, as shown in FIG. 11. For instance, the following configuration can be used in this option.

[0104] For non-SBFD operation in DL, DL BWP#1 is configured.

[0105] For SBFD operation DL, subset#1 of DL BWP#1 for DL subband#1 is configured, and subset#2 of DL BWP#1 for DL subband#2 is configured.

[0106] For non-SBFD operation in UL, UL BWP #1 is configured.

[0107] For SBFD operation in UL, subset#1 of UL BWP#1 for UL subband is configured.

[0108] In this case, no BWP switching is required when the gNB switch from non-SBFD to SBFD operation and even no BWP switching is required when dynamic SBFD is triggered.

[0109] Second Configuration:

[0110] FIG. 12 illustrates an example of a second configuration of subset based subband according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In this option, a subset of DL / UL BWP pair for non-SBFD operation, and subset of DL / UL BWP pair is configured for SBFD operation as shown in FIG. 12. In this case there is no change of BWP in case of operation change from non-SBFD to SBFD operation or any dynamic change in SBFD operation. For instance, the following configuration can be used in this option.

[0111] For non-SBFD operation in DL, subset#1 of DL BWP#1 for DL is configured.

[0112] For SBFD operation DL, subset#2 of DL BWP#1 for DL subband#1 is configured, and subset#3 of DL BWP#1 for DL subband#2 is configured.

[0113] For non-SBFD operation in UL, subset#1 of UL BWP#1 for non-SBFD is configured.

[0114] For SBFD operation in UL, subset#2 of UL BWP#1 for UL subband is configured.

[0115] FIG. 13 to FIG. 15 illustrate more details about the operation 912 in FIG. 9A and the operation 922 in FIG. 9B. In some examples, the UE is configured with at least two DL / UL BWP pairs, wherein in the at least two DL / UL BWP pairs, subbands are configured as at least one BWP. In details, in separate DL / UL BWP pair based SBFD, some embodiments of the present disclosure assume that the operation of SBFD is configured using BWP-based schemes, such that one pair of DL / UL BWP is used for SBFD operation, where each subband is configured as a BWP. Another pair of DL / UL BWP is used for non-SBFD operation. In case a dynamic change occurs to switch SBFD slot / symbol to DL-only slots / symbols or UL-only slots / symbols, it can trigger an increase in BWP switching as explained above. To address the issue of BWP reduction in such cases, the following solutions can be employed.

[0116] In some embodiments, in a case of being configured with the at least two DL / UL BWP pair, at least one DL / UL BWP pair is configured for non-SBFD operation, and one DL / UL BWP pair is configured for SBFD operation; and at least one reference slot / symbol and / or an offset from the least one reference slot / symbol is used to create a contiguous DL transmission or UL transmission. In some embodiments, the at least one reference slot / symbol is used to create a zero slot / symbol between a semi-statically configured DL slot / symbol and a dynamic DL slot / symbol, or between a semi-statically configured UL slot / symbol and a dynamic UL slot / symbol; and / or the offset is used to create the contiguous DL transmission or UL transmission between semi-statically configured DL slots / symbols, where the offset is greater than or equal to zero in terms of slots / symbols. In some embodiments, a dynamic change in at least one SBFD slot / symbol is contiguous in terms of slots / symbols. In some embodiments, a starting slot / symbol from which the dynamic SBFD operation is started is based on a slot / symbol number, and the slot / symbol number is based on the at least one reference slot / symbol and the offset.

[0117] In details, in some examples, in dynamic SBFD confined to contiguous DL or UL slots / symbols, a separate DL / UL BWP is configured for SBFD operation. A dynamic change in SBFD operation can be performed such that DL transmission occurs in contiguous slots / symbols with DL non-SBFD slots / symbols, while UL transmission occurs in contiguous slots / symbols with UL non-SBFD slots / symbols. To implement this rule, some embodiments of the present disclosure consider the following.

[0118] 1. Reference slot / symbol: The reference slot / symbol can be used to create a zero slot / symbol offset between the semi-statically configured DL slot and the dynamic DL slot, or between the semi-statically configured UL slot and the dynamic UL slot. For instance, a reference slot / symbol can be considered as a non-SBFD DL or UL slot / symbol. If the dynamically change SBFD slot / symbol is change to DL-only, the reference slot / symbol can be a DL slot.

[0119] 2. Offset: The offset from the reference slot / symbol can be used to create a contiguous DL transmission or UL transmission between the semi-statically configured DL slots.

[0120] 3. Duration of dynamic SBFD from the reference slot / symbol: A contiguous time duration can be considered to dynamically change an SBFD slot / symbol to non-SBFD slot / symbols in term of slot / symbols. In other words, the dynamic change in the SBFD slot / symbol can be contiguous in terms of slots / symbols in order to reduce the frequent switching between the SBFD and non-SBFD symbols.

[0121] The starting slot from which the dynamic SBFD can be started is given be the following equation.

[0122] Slot / symbol number = reference slot + offset

[0123] Based on the above rules, the following examples are presented. It should be noted that the example is for illustrative purposes only, and the reference slots and offsets can be adjusted according to the specific scenario.

[0124] First Example:

[0125] FIG. 13 illustrates a first example of dynamic SBFD in BWP based scheme for SBFD operation according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The first example assumes the SBFD operations utilize BWP-based schemes, wherein subbands are configured as BWPs, and semi-statically configured SBFD slot / symbols in a DL slot / symbol can be dynamically changed to DL-only slots through scheduling DCIs, non-scheduling DCIs, or MAC CEs. In this case, the reference slot / symbol is considered as the last non-SBFD DL  slot / symbol from where the SBFD operations begin, as shown in FIG. 13. The offset from the reference slot / symbol is zero in terms of slots / symbols to enable a contiguous one-side transmission, such as DL transmission, and avoid BWP switching.

[0126] FIG. 14 illustrates a first example of dynamic SBFD in BWP based scheme for SBFD operation with one slot / symbol offset from a reference slot / symbol according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The reference slot and the offset used in the above example are just for illustration purposes and are not fixed. For instance, the reference slot / symbol can be considered another slot / symbol, as shown in FIG. 14. In this case, the slot / symbol offset between the reference slot / symbol is one slot / symbol. Based on these rules, a contiguous one-side transmission, such as DL transmission, can be performed, thus avoiding BWP switching.

[0127] Second Example:

[0128] FIG. 15 illustrates a second example of dynamic SBFD in BWP based scheme for SBFD operation according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In the case of flexible slots / symbols, the reference slot / symbol can be used to enable a contiguous one-side transmission either DL or UL transmission. For instance, in the case of semi-static SBFD flexible slots / symbols that dynamically change to UL slots through scheduling DCI, non-scheduling DCI, or MAC CE, the reference slot can be considered as the first semi-static UL slot from which non-SBFD operation started, as shown in FIG. 15. This way, the offset from the reference slot / symbol is zero in terms of slots / symbols, enabling a contiguous one-side transmission, such as UL transmission in this case, and avoiding BWP switching. This solution reduces the number of switching between SBFD and non SBFD operation and reduce the number of BWP switching.

[0129] In some embodiments, when a dynamic SBFD operation occurs, at least one corresponding carrier component (CC) is activated or de-activated in a dynamic signaling which is used to schedule a dynamic change in at least one SBFD slot / symbol.

[0130] FIG. 16 illustrating an example of BWP based SBFD with different CC for DL and UL subband according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In details, some embodiments of the present disclosure propose BWP-based SBFD and uses different carrier aggregations (CAs) to reduce BWP switching when dynamic SBFD occurs, i.e., when a semi-static SBFD slot / symbol changes to a dynamic SBFD slot / symbol. In this method, subbands are configured as BWPs, and different carrier components (CCs) are used to schedule DL in DL subbands for one UE and UL in UL subbands for another UE. Furthermore, the corresponding CCs assigned to schedule DL subbands and UL subbands are active for DL and UL UE, respectively, as shown in FIG. 16. In case dynamic SBFD happens, e.g. a SBFD slot / symbol is dynamically switched to non-SBFD slot / symbol, the corresponding CCs need to be activated or de-activated in the dynamic signaling which is used to schedule the dynamic change in SBFD symbols slot.

[0131] FIG. 17 illustrates an example of dynamic change in BWP based SBFD operation with different carrier components (CCs) for DL / UL subband according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 18 illustrates an example of a carrier component CC2 is activated for a user equipment UE1 in dynamic change SBFD slot / symbol to non-SBFD slot / symbol according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 19 illustrates an example of CC2 is de-activated for a user equipment UE2 in dynamic change SBFD slot / symbol to non-SBFD slot / symbol according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0132] For example, if a SBFD slot / symbol is converted to a DL slot / symbol dynamically, as shown in FIG. 17, the corresponding CC2 needs to be active for that specific UE in the slot / symbol where the dynamic SBFD occurs. The UE visibility for the CC2 activation and deactivation is shown in FIG. 18 and FIG. 19. For UE1, where it performs DL transmission and a specific SBFD slot / symbol is converted to a dynamic slot / symbol where the CC2 is activated for UE1 in that specific slot / symbol, as shown in FIG. 18, and the CC2 is deactivated for UE2 in that specific slot, as shown in FIG. 19. This activation and deactivation of CC in a specific slot / symbol can be performed in the dynamic signaling used to change this slot / symbol from a SBFD slot / symbol to a non-SBFD slot / symbol.

[0133] FIG. 20A is a flowchart illustrating a wireless communication method 2010 for SBFD operation by a base station (BS) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication method 2010 for SBFD operation by the BS may comprise an operation 2011, aligning at least one first slot / symbol of a dynamic SBFD operation in a BS according to at least one second slot / symbol of the dynamic SBFD operation in at least one neighbor BS; and / or an operation 2012, muting at least one resource block (RB)  / resource element (RE) of an opposite transmission direction in the at least one second slot / symbol, wherein the at least one neighbor BS performs the dynamic SBFD operation in the at least one second slot / symbol and the BS does not perform the dynamic SBFD operation in the at least one second slot / symbol. Further, the processor 21 is configured to perform the above method. The processor 21 is also configured to perform the method in the following some embodiments.

[0134] In some embodiments, the at least one neighbor BS exchanges information regarding the at least one second slot / symbol of the dynamic SBFD operation with each other. In some embodiments, a central BS configures the dynamic SBFD operation in distributed BS.

[0135] In details, FIG. 20B illustrates an example of CLI mitigation in dynamic SBFD operation according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In CLI mitigation / reduction in dynamic SBFD, in order to mitigate / reduce the gNB to gNB and UE to UE CLI in the neighbor cells which is produced due to the aforementioned dynamic SBFD, this embodiment of the present disclosure proposed the following two solutions.

[0136] Solution 1. The gNBs can align its slot / symbol for dynamic SBFD according to the slots / symbols of dynamic SBFD in the neighbor gNBs. In other words, the neighbor gNBs can use the dynamic SBFD in the same time slots / symbols.

[0137] Solution 2. The gNBs which do not perform dynamic SBFD in those slots / symbols in which the neighbor gNB perform dynamic SFBD, can mute the RBs / REs of the opposite transmission direction in those slots / symbols in which the neighbor gNB.

[0138] The above solutions can be implemented through the following method.

[0139] Exemplary Method 1: Through information exchange

[0140] In this method, the neighbor gNBs can exchange information regarding the slots / symbols of dynamic SBFD with each other. In this way, the neighbor gNB can use the following two scheme to mitigate CLI to its neighbor gNB.

[0141] Exemplary Method 2: Through Central Base station

[0142] A central gNB can configure the dynamic SBFD in the distributed gNBs. In this way, the central base station can align the dynamic SBFD among the distributed gNB and avoid the CLI from happening.

[0143] The illustrative example of this solution is shown in FIG. 20B, where gNBs such as the gNB1, gNB2, and gNB3 can first exchange dynamic SBFD information with each other, and gNB1 and gNB2 can align the dynamic SBFD in the slot / symbols with each other. On the other hand, gNB3 is not required a dynamic SBFD, therefore, it can mute its UL subband resources in that specific slot / symbol. In this way, the CLI which is created due to dynamic SBFD can be mitigated. This can solve the CLI issue of gNB to gNB, UE to UE, and / or UE to gNB.

[0144] FIG. 21A is a flowchart illustrating a wireless communication method 2110 for SBFD operation by a base station (BS) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication method 2110 for SBFD operation by the BS may comprise an operation 2111, reserving at least one antenna port for DL transmission and at least one antenna port for UL reception during a time period in which a SBFD operation is configured. Further, the processor 21 is configured to perform the above method. The processor 21 is also configured to perform the method in the following some embodiments.

[0145] FIG. 21B is a flowchart illustrating a wireless communication method 2120 for SBFD operation by a base station (BS) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication method 2120 for SBFD operation by the BS may comprise an operation 2121, being configured with a switching gap or a transition time for switching between a SBFD operation and a non-SBFD operation, and an operation 2122, using a timing advance offset or an UL transmission latency / delay as the switching gap or the transition time in a dynamic SBFD operation. Further, the processor 21 is configured to perform the above method. The processor 21 is also configured to perform the method in the following some embodiments.

[0146] In some embodiments, the time advance offset of the UL transmission is utilized as the switching gap or the transition time between the non-SBFD operation and the SBFD operation, and / or a transition time of UL and DL is configured as the switching gap or the transition time between the SBFD operation and the non-SBFD operation. In some embodiments, the UL transmission latency / delay is used as the switching gap or the transition between the SBFD operation and non-SBFD operation.

[0147] In details, in Tx-Rx switching gap between SBFD and non SBFD slots / symbols, in some embodiments of the present disclosure, the following alternative solutions are proposed in order to handle the switching between SBFD and non-SBFD operation at gNB side.

[0148] In reserving the antenna ports for DL transmission and UL reception, in some embodiments of the present disclosure, it is proposed to divide the antenna ports / RF chains of a gNB into two sections for SBFD operation. One set of antenna ports would be assigned to Tx transmission, while another set of antenna ports would be designated for Rx reception during the time period in which SBFD is configured. For example, if SBFD operation is semi-statically configured for a transmission periodicity of 320 slots within a 10ms time period, the base station can assign a set of antenna ports for Tx operation and another set for Rx operation for 320ms within the 10ms period. This approach eliminates the need for transition time on the base station side to switch from non-SBFD to SBFD operation. Moreover, if dynamic SBFD occurs and the semi-statically configured SBFD slots / symbols are changed to DL-only or flexible slots / symbols during this time period, no  transition time would be needed, since the base station already has a set of antenna ports reserved for DL transmission and UL reception. This method reduces the transition time in semi-static of dynamic SBFD.

[0149] In NTA offset and NTx-Rx based switching gap between SBFD and non-SBFD operation, some embodiments of the present disclosure propose to use the (Timing Advance) TA offset of the current specification for switching gap or transition time between the non-SBFD to SBFD operation, where the TA offset of the current specification is shown in table 1.

[0150] Table 1 the Value of NTA offset

[0151] FIG. 21C illustrates an example of timing advance (TA) offset and N transmit-receive (Tx-Rx) based switching gap between SBFD and non-SBFD operation according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The gNB can be configured with this TA offset value as a switching gap or transition time for switching between non-SBFD and SBFD operation. In this way, the gNB have enough time to switch antenna ports from Tx to Rx for UL reception in UL subband and trigger its hardware which is required for UL reception as shown in FIG. 21C. On the other hand, the switching gap or transition time between SBFD and non-SBFD operation can re-use the existing transition time of the current specification such as NTx-Rx to switch between non-SBFD and SBFD operation as illustrated in FIG. 21B and given in table 2.

[0152] Table 2 switching gap or transition time NRx-Tx and NTx-Rx

[0153] FIG. 22 illustrates an example of UL transmission delay based switching gap between SBFD and non-SBFD operation according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In details, in UL transmission delay based switching gap between SBFD and non-SBFD operation, some embodiments of the present disclosure propose that UL transmission latency / delay can be used as a switching gap or transition time between SBFD and non-SBFD symbols. To implement this embodiment, the gNB can configure zero TA offset for UL reception. In this way, the UL reception to the gNB will arrive with some delay or latency due to the transmission latency. During this transmission delay time, the gNB can perform the RF chain or antenna ports switching to receive the UL reception in the UL subband. For DL subbands, there is no switching gap required, since the transmission direction in the DL slots and DL subbands is the same as shown in FIG. 22.

[0154] Similarly, the UL transmission delay can be used as a switching gap when the gNB is switching from SBFD to non-SBFD operation. For instance, with the zero TA offset value for UL reception in UL subband, the data / signalling reception in UL subband will arrive at the gNB with a transmission latency, as compared to DL subband transmission. Thus, the UL transmission latency creates a delay offset between the DL subbands in SBFD slots / symbols and the UL non-SBFD slots / symbols as shown in FIG. 22. This transmission delay can be utilized as a switching gap or transition time between the SBFD and non-SBFD operation switching.
