AI Technical Summary
Conventional suspension systems fail to effectively dampen road forces, leading to harsh impacts on the vehicle body and occupants, and are sensitive to load variations, causing tire camber angle changes.
A reversed closed loop suspension system where all suspension elements are attached to the vehicle axle, with the axle and suspension elements connected to the vehicle body, utilizing a reversing motion lever to direct forces downward and a shock absorber and spring combination to dampen these forces.
This system provides enhanced riding comfort by directing forces in alignment with the vehicle's weight, maintains constant tire camber angle, minimizes vehicle amplitude, and maximizes braking forces while offering self-resistance against lateral forces and potential rollover effects.

Description
[0001] Reversed Closed Loop Suspension
[0002] Full Description
[0003] Current conventional system concept
[0004] Conventional suspension concept as seen in the figure is a system connecting vehicle body with tires. And its main function is to act as intermediate system in between the vehicle and the forces coming from road surface through tire to damp it and minimize its effect on the vehicle body and the occupants
[0005] Conventional system concept issues
[0006] 1 Forces coming from road due to vehicle weight reactions are affecting directly on the vehicle body and its occupants
[0007] 2- Even the forces are being damped in the suspension system but and the end they affect directly on vehicle body and occupants and because those forces directions are against vehicle body and occupants weight directions they are felt harshly
[0008] 3- Tires camber angle is very sensitive to load variation from its designed value because the suspension system is fixed at the vehicle body side and free to rolling up and down atitire connection side
[0009] New Concept (Closed loop suspension system)
[0010] Description
[0011] 1- In the new concept the all suspension elements are attached to vehicle axle then the axle including suspension elements should be attached to the vehicle.
[0012] 2- Suspension elements are fixed reversely as the upper drag link beside its main function which is holding the upper end of tire connection, it acts as 1stdegree lever that reversing the motion of the tire to be directed downward again, (so that it is called closed loop as the forces perform closed loop starting from road and redirected again to the road direction)
[0013] 3- The shock absorber and the spring should connect the end of the lever (upper drag link) with the axle to damp the reversed motion and its forces away from vehicle body
[0014] This system is already developed physically as functioning practical prototype and it showed static status under the equilibrium between vehicle weight and suspension stiffness forces and giving damped suspension effect. And it is available upon request
[0015] Benefits
[0016] 1- Practically applicable
[0017] 2- Very low cost as the system is using almost same elements of conventional suspension system but with different installation concept
[0018] 3- Constant tire camber angle at its designed value regardless load variation
[0019] 4- Enhancing riding comfort
[0020] 5- resulted amplitude on the vehicle is minimized
[0021] 6- System actuation amplitude is controllable
[0022] 7- Maximizing braking forces
[0023] 8- Self-resistance against lateral forces and possible rollover effect during curvature motion
[0024] 9- Possible energy saving (fusil or electric)
[0025] Describing benefits
[0026] 1- Constant tire camber
[0027] In convention system as explained earlier, the suspension system is solid fixed at the vehicle body side and free to roll up and down at the lower end and the tire is linked in between, so that the load variation has sensible effect on camber angle in the new system the link that holding the tire hub is free to roll from upper and lower connection points
[0028] Old system shows camber angle variation under load variation Those 2 lines will remain parallel under any actuation action and reaction leading to constant camber angle 2- Enhancing riding comfort
[0029] • Because the forces are directed in same direction of vehicle body and occupant's weight direction the forces would not be felt harshly on the both bodies beside that the redirected forces are applied on the axle not on the body itself
[0030] • But as seen in the conventional system design the road forces are against the vehicle and occupant's bodies weight so that the forces are felt harshly
[0031] Net felt force on body = Fw - Frd
[0032] 3 - Resulted amplitude on vehicle is minimized and overall system actuation amplitude is controllable
[0033] • Xt tire is reversed through the lever then damped to Xd The net vehicle actuation amplitude is Xt - Xd
[0034] • The reversed X tire could be controlled by changing the lengths a and b (lever installation ratio)
[0035] Net vehicle amplitude = Xt - Fd
[0036] 4- Maximizing braking force
[0037] The tire is always pushed down resulting to max tire contact with road surface providing max friction in both system actuation reactions
[0038] • First actuation reaction when the forces come from road and could overcome the suspension system stiffness, it will actuate it, and because it is connected reversely it will push vehicle body down reacting on the tire down to achieve max contact and max braking force
[0039] • Second actuation reaction
[0040] When the suspension system reacts pushing the lever up, this will also react on the tire down to achieve max contact and max braking force
[0041] First actuation reaction
[0042] Suspension System actuation reaction
[0043] Self-resistance against lateral forces and possible rollover effect during curvature motion
[0044] In Conventional System
[0045] In conventional system the rollover pivot is the point the tire contacts the ground surface. The CG is over the roliover pivoting point that will lead to positive rollover moment generated by lateral force
[0046] In Reversed closed loop System
[0047] In the new system the rollover pivoting point is the equilibrium hinging point between the weight reaction force on tire and the suspension stiffness
[0048] Lateral force affecting the CG which is lower than rollover pivot point in height and that will lead to negative rollover moment
[0049] Tire is contacting the ground surface providing upward weight reaction that will actuate suspension system pushing the vehicle body down against lateral force
[0050] 6- The system could be installed in steered axle
[0051] By replacing the articulated joints into ball joints hence the tire gets the degree of freedom to get steered
[0052] Replacing those articulated joints into ball 7-
[0053] The shock absorber and spring combination could be fixed with caster angle (a) to the direction of vehicle motion and as the system is reversed and the forces from road are free and directed down, it could be used as free forces to push the vehicle forward and that may save energy
[0054] Vehicle motion direction
