[0001] Cross-citation with related applications

[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0155379, filed November 10, 2023, and Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0114042, filed August 29, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

[0003] Technology field

[0004] The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for determining battery degradation resulting from regenerative braking.

[0005] As demand for eco-friendly vehicles grows, electric vehicles (EVs) powered by batteries like lithium-ion secondary batteries are rapidly replacing conventional internal combustion engine vehicles. Meanwhile, as artificial intelligence and various sensor technologies advance, research and development is actively underway to improve the performance of hardware and software related to autonomous driving systems.

[0006] Autonomous driving systems supporting autonomous driving are being developed or provided as a single autonomous driving platform that includes various sensors and control units. Some electric vehicle manufacturers are mass-producing or developing autonomous electric vehicles based on these autonomous driving platforms.

[0007] Regenerative braking (RGB) refers to a braking method in which a vehicle, powered by a battery and a motor, utilizes the motor's power generation function to charge the battery during braking. Regenerative braking can occur at different levels, and the vehicle's braking power and battery charge level can vary depending on the level of regenerative braking. The vehicle's cruise control system can determine the appropriate level of regenerative braking and control the vehicle's driving accordingly. However, regenerative braking inevitably causes battery degradation due to the repeated charging and discharging of the battery. Consequently, the battery deteriorates more rapidly than when regenerative braking is not used. This rapid battery degradation necessitates more frequent battery replacement and leads to the production of more emissions and / or greenhouse gases during battery manufacturing. These emissions and / or greenhouse gases can have a negative impact on the environment, for example, by contributing to climate change.

[0008] One object of the embodiments disclosed herein is to provide a battery management system, vehicle, battery management method, and computer program that can take into account regenerative braking of a vehicle when predicting the degree of battery degradation, and in some cases, can adjust the charging and / or discharging of the battery to reduce battery degradation. By predicting the degree of battery degradation based on the level of regenerative braking and adjusting the charging and / or discharging of the battery to reduce battery degradation, the overall lifespan of the battery can be increased, thereby leading to reduced levels of emissions and / or greenhouse gases generated during battery manufacturing. Furthermore, the techniques described herein can be implemented in various types of automated vehicle platforms, thereby leading to widespread improvements in energy efficiency.

[0009] One object of the embodiments disclosed herein is to provide a computing system, a vehicle, a method of operating the computing system, and a computer program that can determine a regenerative braking and / or driving strategy of a vehicle by taking into account battery degradation.

[0105] FIG. 2 is a drawing illustrating a process of performing regenerative braking in a vehicle according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0106] Referring to FIG. 2, the computing system (300) in the vehicle (10) controls the battery (400) and the driving system (500), so that the battery (400) can be discharged according to the driving of the vehicle (10) and the battery (400) can be charged according to the braking of the vehicle (10).

[0107] According to some embodiments, the computing system (300) may control the battery (400) to supply electrical energy to the drive system (500). The drive system (500) may drive a motor using the electrical energy supplied from the battery (400). According to some embodiments, the drive system (500) may include one or more electric motors. When the motor is driven, the vehicle (10) may accelerate, and even when the vehicle (10) is traveling at a constant speed, the battery (400) may be discharged to drive the motor.

[0108] According to some embodiments, the computing system (300) may control the drive system (500) so that the battery (400) is charged while the vehicle (10) decelerates. For example, the computing system (300) may control the drive system (500) so that the braking device of the drive system (500) operates, or so that the motor does not generate driving force. When the motor rotates together with the wheels of the drive system (500) without receiving separate driving force, electric energy can be generated from the motor by the principle of electromagnetic induction. According to some embodiments, regenerative braking may refer to a braking method that charges the battery (400) by using electric energy generated from the motor when the vehicle (10) is braking or decelerating.

[0109] In general, considering that the lifespan of a rechargeable secondary battery may be reduced when charging and discharging are repeated, when regenerative braking is performed, the battery (400) may be repeatedly discharged and charged, which may deteriorate the performance of the battery (400). Although regenerative braking may be advantageous in terms of the driving range of the vehicle (10) or the charging cost of the battery (400), it may be disadvantageous in terms of the performance or lifespan of the battery (400). Therefore, a management technique may be required that takes into account the deterioration of the battery (400) while simultaneously utilizing the advantages of regenerative braking of the vehicle (10).

[0110] FIG. 3 is a drawing illustrating components and functions of a battery according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0111] Referring to FIG. 3, the battery (400) may include a battery pack (410) and a battery management system (420). However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and some components of the battery (400) may be omitted or other general-purpose components may be added to the battery (400). According to some embodiments, the battery (400) may predict the degree of degradation of the battery pack (410) based on driving data and battery data.

[0112] According to some embodiments, the battery management system (420) may include at least one controller or at least one processor. At least one controller / processor of the battery management system (420) may have a structure for processing various operations, processes, and commands. According to some embodiments, at least one controller / processor of the battery management system (420) may be configured separately from or integral with a memory (not shown) and may process various operations by executing commands stored in the memory.

[0113] According to some embodiments, the battery management system (420) can predict the degradation of the battery pack (410) based on battery data measured in the battery pack (410) and driving data measured in the communication module (100) and / or sensor module (200) of the vehicle (10). According to some embodiments, the functions and / or operations performed by the controller below can be interpreted as being performed by the battery management system (410) in the vehicle (10).

[0114] According to some embodiments, the battery management system (420) may include a data acquisition unit. The data acquisition unit may be configured to acquire driving data related to driving of the vehicle (10) and battery data related to the battery pack (410) of the vehicle (10). For example, the data acquisition unit of the battery management system (420) may include an interface circuit for interacting with other elements of the vehicle (10), and the communication method of the data acquisition unit may be a device-to-device communication method such as a bus, GPIO, SPI, MIPI, etc.

[0115] The data acquisition unit of the battery management system (420) may be configured to acquire driving data related to driving of the vehicle (10) and battery data related to the battery pack (410). According to some embodiments, the driving data may include object data regarding surrounding objects of the vehicle (10) and behavior data regarding behavior of the vehicle (10). The object data may include types and numbers of surrounding objects, distances from the vehicle (10), relative positions with respect to the vehicle (10), ground positions, relative speeds, ground speeds, relative accelerations, ground accelerations, etc., and the behavior data may include positions, travel paths, travel distances, speeds, accelerations, steering angles, yaws, pitches, rolls, etc. of the vehicle (10). According to some embodiments, the battery data may include voltage data, current data, temperature data, state of charge (SOC) data, state of health (SOH) data, and combinations thereof, and may further include cumulative charge current, cumulative discharge current, cumulative charge power, cumulative discharge power, insulation resistance, relay status, and the like.

[0116] The controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to determine whether regenerative braking of the vehicle (10) occurs based on driving data and battery data. According to some embodiments, regenerative braking may be determined to occur when the vehicle (10) is decelerating and the remaining state of charge (SOC) level of the battery pack (410) increases. Conversely, even if the SOC level increases, regenerative braking may be determined not to occur when the vehicle (10) is not driving or a battery charger is connected to the vehicle (10).

[0117] The controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to derive statistical data related to the occurrence of regenerative braking. In some embodiments, the controller may be configured to derive charging data related to the charging of the battery pack (410) due to regenerative braking. In some embodiments, the statistical data may include the number of times regenerative braking has occurred, the frequency of regenerative braking, the duration of regenerative braking, and statistical variables derived therefrom. In some embodiments, the charging data may include the amount of variation in the SOC level of the battery pack (410), the amount of variation in voltage, the amount of variation in current, the amount of variation in temperature, and battery-related variables derived therefrom.

[0118] The controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to predict the degree of degradation of the battery pack (410) based on statistical data. According to some embodiments, the controller may be configured to predict the degree of degradation of the battery pack (410) based on the statistical data and the charging data. According to some embodiments, the degree of degradation of the battery pack (410) may include the degree of degradation due to driving of the vehicle (10) regardless of regenerative braking and the degree of degradation due to regenerative braking. According to some embodiments, the degree of degradation due to regenerative braking may increase as regenerative braking occurs more frequently, as the frequency of regenerative braking increases, as the duration of regenerative braking increases, and as the fluctuation range of charging data increases, and may be expressed as a numerical value relating to the ratio of the performance that is degraded based on the maximum performance of the battery pack (410).

[0119] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to predict a degree of degradation based on the number of occurrences of regenerative braking according to statistical data and the amount of charge of the battery pack (410) according to charging data. The number of occurrences of regenerative braking may be counted based on the statistical data, and the amount of increase in the SOC level of the battery pack (410) due to each regenerative braking may be calculated as the amount of charge. According to some embodiments, the greater the number of occurrences of regenerative braking and the greater the amount of charge of the battery pack (410) due to regenerative braking, the higher the degree of degradation may be predicted to be.

[0120] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to obtain a charger connection status indicating whether a battery charger is connected to the vehicle (10), and determine whether regenerative braking of the vehicle (10) occurs based on driving data, battery data, and the charger connection status. According to some embodiments, if the battery charger is connected, the remaining capacity of the battery pack (410) may be charged even if regenerative braking is not performed, thereby allowing for a more accurate determination of whether regenerative braking occurs.

[0121] FIG. 4 is a diagram illustrating a process for predicting the degree of battery degradation based on an estimated level of regenerative braking according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0122] Referring to FIG. 4, in the battery management system (420), an estimated level (42) can be calculated based on the driving data of the vehicle (10) and the charge amount of the battery pack (410), and a degradation level (44) of the battery pack (410) can be predicted based on the number of occurrences of regenerative braking and the estimated level (42), and a charge / discharge restriction (46) for the battery pack (410) can be performed based on the degradation level (44).

[0123] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to calculate an estimated level (42) of regenerative braking based on driving data and a state of charge, and to predict a degradation degree (44) based on the number of occurrences and the estimated level (42). The regenerative braking of the vehicle (10) may be performed according to the regenerative braking level. In this regard, the computing system (300) of the vehicle (10) may determine the regenerative braking level. According to some embodiments, the regenerative braking level may be composed of three levels, such as 1 to 3, A to C, etc. In other embodiments, the regenerative braking level may include five levels, eight levels, ten levels, or any other number of levels, and in some examples, the regenerative braking level may be set as a continuous value instead of a discrete value.

[0124] The controller of the battery management system (420) can predict the value of the regenerative braking level determined by the computing system (300), or can receive the value of the regenerative braking level determined by the computing system (300). According to some embodiments, the prediction of the regenerative braking level can be performed based on driving data and the amount of charge. For example, if the driving data indicates that the vehicle (10) is decelerating to a moderate level and the amount of charge indicates that the battery pack (410) is being charged to a moderate level, the estimated level (42) of the regenerative braking can be predicted to be a B level among AC levels.

[0125] Once the estimated level (42) of regenerative braking is determined, the degradation degree (44) of the battery pack (410) can be determined based on how much regenerative braking occurs at the determined estimated level (42). In some embodiments, the higher the estimated level (42) and the more regenerative braking occurs, the higher the degradation degree (44) can be calculated. If the estimated level (42) of regenerative braking changes, the number of occurrences at the changed level can be recounted.

[0126] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be further configured to limit at least one of discharging of the battery pack (410) by driving of the vehicle (10) or charging of the battery pack (410) by regenerative braking at a preset rate based on the number of occurrences and the estimated level. According to some embodiments, a degradation level (44) may be calculated based on the number of occurrences and the estimated level, and if the degradation level (44) exceeds a degradation level threshold, a charge / discharge limit (46) may be applied to the battery pack (410).

[0127] When the charge / discharge limit (46) is applied, a portion of the charging of the battery pack (410) is limited so that only a portion of the power generated by regenerative braking is transferred to the battery pack (410), or the computing system (300) can set the regenerative braking level to a certain level or lower. In addition, a portion of the discharge of the battery pack (410) may be limited so that the output of the driving system (500) may be reduced, and thus the speed or acceleration of the vehicle (10) may be reduced. According to the charge / discharge limit (46), excessive repetition of charging and discharging of the battery pack (410) may be prevented, and thus degradation of the battery pack (410) may be reduced.

[0128] FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating a degradation prediction model according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0129] Referring to FIG. 5, the controller of the battery management system (420) can predict the deterioration of the battery pack (410) from the charge amount and driving data using the deterioration prediction model (50), and the deterioration prediction model (50) can include a first sub-model (52) and a second sub-model (54).

[0130] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to predict the degree of degradation using a degradation prediction model (50), wherein the degradation prediction model (50) may include a first sub-model (52) trained to produce an estimated level and a second sub-model (54) trained to predict the degree of degradation. According to some embodiments, the degradation prediction model (50) may produce an estimated level of regenerative braking based on driving data and a charge amount through the first sub-model (52), and may predict the degree of degradation of the battery pack (410) based on the estimated level and the number of occurrences through the second sub-model (54).

[0131] According to some embodiments, the degradation prediction model (50) may be an AI model that is trained and updated through various machine learning techniques based on a neural network structure. The degradation prediction model (50) may determine model parameters through machine learning using known relationships among the amount of charge, driving data, and degradation as learning data, and the model parameters may be continuously optimized as the vehicle (10) is driven.

[0132] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to obtain the regenerative braking level of the regenerative braking determined by the computing system (300) of the vehicle (10) and update the first sub-model (52) by comparing the estimated level with the regenerative braking level. If the regenerative braking level actually determined by the computing system (300) can be utilized, the first sub-model (52) that predicts the estimated level of regenerative braking may be updated. For example, if a difference occurs between the estimated level of the first sub-model (52) and the actual regenerative braking level, the first sub-model (52) may be trained in a direction that reduces the difference. Accordingly, the performance of the first sub-model (52) may be improved, and even if the actual regenerative braking level is not provided in the future, the first sub-model (52) may provide an accurate estimated level.

[0133] According to some embodiments, the controller of the battery management system (420) may be configured to transmit the number of occurrences and the estimated level to an energy management server (40) external to the vehicle (10), and receive the degradation predicted based on the number of occurrences and the estimated level through a degradation prediction model (50) by the energy management server (40). According to some embodiments, the degradation prediction model (50) may be operated by the energy management server (40) rather than the battery management system (420). To this end, the battery management system (420) may provide data to be input into the degradation prediction model (50) to the energy management server (40), and the energy management server (40) may provide the prediction result of the degradation prediction model (50) to the battery management system (420). In this manner, when the degradation prediction model (50) is operated by an external energy management server (40), model inference operations and model updates requiring a high amount of computation may be smoothly performed.

[0134] FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating steps of a battery management method according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0135] Referring to FIG. 6, the battery management method (600) may include steps (610) to (640). However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and some steps may be omitted or general steps may be added, and the steps of the battery management method (600) may be executed in a different order than the illustrated order.

[0136] Steps (610) to (640) of the battery management method (600) may be performed by the battery management system (420) of the battery (400). According to some embodiments, the battery management method (600) may be composed of steps that are processed in a time-series manner by the battery management system (420). Therefore, even if the content is omitted below, the content described above for the battery management system (420) may be equally applicable to the battery management method (600).

[0137] In step (610), the battery management system (420) can acquire driving data related to driving of the vehicle and battery data related to the battery pack through a data acquisition unit.

[0138] In step (620), the battery management system (420) can determine, through the controller, whether regenerative braking of the vehicle occurs based on driving data and battery data.

[0139] In step (630), the battery management system (420) can derive statistical data related to the occurrence of regenerative braking through the controller.

[0140] In step (640), the battery management system (420) can predict the degree of degradation of the battery pack based on statistical data through the controller.

[0141] According to some embodiments, the battery management method (600) may be implemented in the form of a computer program stored on a computer-readable storage medium. That is, the computer program may include instructions for implementing the battery management method (600), and the program instructions may be stored on the computer-readable storage medium. The computer program may include a mobile application.

[0142] For example, a computer-readable storage medium may include magnetic media such as a hard disk, a floppy disk, and a magnetic tape, optical media such as a CD-ROM or a DVD, magneto-optical media such as a floptical disk, and hardware devices specially configured to store and execute computer program instructions, such as ROM, RAM, flash memory, and the like. The computer program instructions may include machine language code generated by a compiler and high-level language code that can be executed by a computer using an interpreter, etc.

[0143] FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating components and functions of a computing system according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0144] Referring to FIG. 7, the computing system (300) may include an interface circuit (310) and at least one processor (320). However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and some components may be omitted from the computing system (300) or other general-purpose components may be added to the computing system (300).

[0145] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may determine a regenerative braking level and a driving strategy of the vehicle (10) based on battery data measured from the battery pack (410), and control driving of the vehicle (10) based on the regenerative braking level and the driving strategy. According to some embodiments, the functions and / or operations performed by at least one processor (320) below may be interpreted as being performed by the computing system (300) in the vehicle (10).

[0146] At least one processor (320) may be configured to obtain battery data related to a battery (400) of a vehicle (10). A battery management system (420) of the battery (400) may measure battery data from a battery pack (410) and provide the battery data to the computing system (300).

[0147] At least one processor (320) may be configured to determine a regenerative braking level of the vehicle (10) based on battery data. The regenerative braking level may refer to a stage at which regenerative braking of the vehicle (10) is performed, and a higher regenerative braking level may increase the braking power of the vehicle (10) and the charge amount of the battery (400). According to some embodiments, the regenerative braking level may include three levels, such as 1 to 3, A to C, etc. In other embodiments, the regenerative braking level may include five levels, eight levels, ten levels, or any other number of levels, and in some examples, the regenerative braking level may be set to a continuous value instead of a discrete value.

[0148] At least one processor (320) may be configured to adjust a driving strategy of the vehicle (10) based on a regenerative braking level. The driving strategy may refer to a strategy for driving the vehicle (10) considering the braking force of a given regenerative braking level. According to some embodiments, the driving strategy of the vehicle (10) may include driving speed, driving acceleration, driving path, driving responsiveness, setting of inter-vehicle distance, speed bump passing strength, etc. For example, when the regenerative braking level is relatively low, a path having a high proportion of simple driving sections may be selected, and the inter-vehicle distance maintained by the vehicle (10) with respect to the preceding vehicle may be set to be relatively far.

[0149] At least one processor (320) may be configured to control driving of the vehicle (10) based on a regenerative braking level and a driving strategy. The driving system (500) may reduce the speed of the vehicle (10) with a braking force corresponding to the regenerative braking level, and may drive the vehicle (10) according to an acceleration force, a driving path, a setting of a distance between vehicles, etc. corresponding to the driving strategy. For example, when the regenerative braking level is set relatively high, a complex path requiring a large amount of braking may also be set as the driving path of the vehicle (10), and high driving responsiveness and a short distance between vehicles may be applied.

[0150] Since the regenerative braking level can be determined based on the battery data of the battery (400), if a high level of regenerative braking is unnecessary when considering the battery data, the regenerative braking level can be limited to a low level. Accordingly, deterioration of the battery (400) due to unnecessary excessive regenerative braking can be prevented.

[0151] FIG. 8 is a diagram illustrating a process for determining a regenerative braking level and adjusting a driving strategy according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0152] Referring to FIG. 8, at least one processor (320) can determine a regenerative braking level (82, 85) based on an SOC level (81, 84) of a battery (400), and can determine a driving strategy (83, 86) based on the regenerative braking level (82, 85).

[0153] According to some embodiments, the battery data may include a state of charge (SOC) level (81, 84) of the battery (400), and at least one processor (320) may be configured to determine a regenerative braking level (82, 85) based on a relationship that is inversely proportional to the SOC level (81, 84). According to some embodiments, the SOC level (81, 84) may be estimated by the battery management system (420) based on voltage, current, and / or temperature measured from the battery pack (410) of the battery (400), or may be estimated by the at least one processor (320).

[0154] The regenerative braking levels (82, 85) may be determined based on a relationship that is inversely proportional to the SOC levels (81, 84). According to some embodiments, the SOC levels (81, 84) may be classified into upper / middle / lower, and the regenerative braking levels (82, 85) of A / B / C may be determined in an inversely proportional relationship with the upper / middle / lower levels. Here, the inversely proportional relationship may include, without limitation, all relationships in which the regenerative braking levels (82, 85) decrease when the SOC levels (81, 84) increase, and the regenerative braking levels (82, 85) increase when the SOC levels (81, 84) decrease. Meanwhile, the upper / middle / low SOC levels (81, 84) and the regenerative braking levels (82, 85) of A / B / C are merely examples, and other classification methods may be utilized.

[0155] According to some embodiments, the driving strategy (83, 86) may be determined in various ways based on the regenerative braking level (82, 85). First, if the battery (400) is given priority, if the regenerative braking level (82, 85) is set high, the driving strategy (83, 86) may be set in a direction that reduces the discharge amount of the battery (400). Conversely, if the driving of the vehicle (10) is given priority, if the regenerative braking level (82, 85) is set high, the driving strategy (83, 86) may be set to a sports mode, etc. that can utilize high braking power. Meanwhile, the driving strategy (83, 86) is divided into performance / normal / eco with respect to the driving performance of the vehicle (10) and the efficiency of the battery (400), but other division stages and division criteria may be utilized as long as the regenerative braking level (82, 85) is taken into consideration.

[0156] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may adjust the driving strategy to leverage the increased braking force of the vehicle (10) when the regenerative braking level increases. For example, when the regenerative braking level increases, the driving speed may increase and / or the following distance may decrease as the increased braking force provides more braking force to the vehicle. Accordingly, the vehicle may brake more quickly compared to when the braking force is at a lower level. At least one processor (320) may adjust the driving strategy to reflect the reduced braking force of the vehicle (10) when the regenerative braking level decreases. This may be the case when the driving of the vehicle (10) is given priority. For example, when the regenerative braking level is set to a lower level, the driving speed may decrease and / or the following distance may increase as the reduced braking level reduces the braking force available to the vehicle. Therefore, the vehicle may be slower to brake compared to when the braking force is set to a higher level.

[0157] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may be configured to adjust the driving strategy by changing at least one of the driving speed, driving path, driving responsiveness, or inter-vehicle distance setting of the vehicle (10) according to an increase or decrease in the level of regenerative braking. For example, if the driving strategy is eco, the driving speed may be reduced, the driving path may be set to a simple path requiring less braking, the driving responsiveness may be set to a low level to reduce repetition of acceleration and deceleration, and the inter-vehicle distance may be set to a long level due to low braking force.

[0158] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may be configured to calculate a discharge amount of the SOC level according to the driving of the vehicle (10) and a charge amount of the SOC level according to the regenerative braking of the vehicle (10), and determine a regenerative braking level based on the discharge amount and the charge amount. Since the battery (400) repeats charging due to the deceleration of the vehicle (10) and discharging due to the acceleration of the vehicle (10), it may be necessary to consider the charge amount and the discharge amount together. According to some embodiments, the charge amount and the discharge amount of the SOC level may be calculated for a specific time period, such as 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, 20 seconds, 15 seconds, 10 seconds, or 5 seconds, and the regenerative braking level may be determined based on these. For example, the regenerative braking level may be determined by comparing the ratio of the charge amount and the discharge amount for a specific time period with threshold ratios.

[0159] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may be configured to calculate a predicted discharge amount and a predicted charge amount of the SOC level after a preset time has elapsed based on the discharge amount and the charge amount, determine a next level of the regenerative braking level based on the predicted discharge amount and the predicted charge amount, and maintain the next level until the preset time has elapsed. For example, the charge amount and the discharge amount for a specific time period such as 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, etc. may be calculated, and the predicted discharge amount and the predicted charge amount of the SOC level after the preset time period has elapsed may be calculated based on the calculated amount. According to some embodiments, the preset time period may be 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, 20 seconds, 15 seconds, 10 seconds, 5 seconds, etc. For example, the predicted discharge amount after the preset time period of 5 minutes has elapsed may be set equal to the discharge amount for a specific time period of 5 minutes. According to some embodiments, when calculating the predicted discharge amount and predicted charge amount, the GPS location and navigation driving information of the vehicle (10) may be additionally taken into consideration.

[0160] The next level of the regenerative braking level can be determined based on the predicted discharge amount and predicted charge amount. The next level can be set to be equal to, greater than, or less than the current regenerative braking level. For example, if the predicted discharge amount is predicted to be greater than the current discharge amount and the predicted charge amount is predicted to be less than the current charge amount, the next level can be set to be higher than the current regenerative braking level to offset the decrease in the SOC level of the battery (400). Once the next level is set, the set level can be maintained for a preset period of time.

[0161] According to some embodiments, the predicted discharge amount and the predicted charge amount may be predicted based on a SOC level prediction model. The SOC level prediction model may be an AI model that is trained and updated through various machine learning techniques based on a neural network structure, and model parameters may be updated by comparing the predicted discharge amount and the predicted charge amount with the actually measured discharge amount and charge amount. According to some embodiments, the SOC level prediction model may be managed by an energy management server (40) instead of at least one processor (320).

[0162] FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating a process of adjusting only the driving strategy while maintaining the regenerative braking level according to some embodiments disclosed in this document.

[0163] Referring to FIG. 9, at least one processor (320) can adjust only the driving strategy, as in driving strategy adjustment (930), without changing the regenerative braking level, as in maintaining the regenerative braking level (920), even if there is a change in the SOC level (910). In this way, setting the regenerative braking level too high can be prevented, thereby reducing degradation of the battery (400) due to regenerative braking.

[0164] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may be configured to maintain a constant regenerative braking level in response to changes in battery data and adjust the driving strategy to account for differences in battery charge due to the maintenance of the regenerative braking level. For example, even if battery data fluctuates, such as in the SOC level fluctuation (910), the regenerative braking level may be maintained, and only the driving strategy may be adjusted. In this manner, changes in the regenerative braking level may be prevented from affecting the lifespan of the battery (400).

[0165] According to some embodiments, at least one processor (320) may be configured to determine whether an increase in the regenerative braking level is required in the next cycle based on a change in battery data in the current cycle, and if an increase is determined to be required, determine the regenerative braking level in the next cycle to be the same as in the current cycle, and adjust the driving strategy in the next cycle to reflect the amount of battery charge reduction due to maintaining the regenerative braking level.

[0166] According to some embodiments, the current cycle and the next cycle may have values such as 1 second, 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc. Depending on the battery data that changes in the current cycle, an increase in the regenerative braking level may or may not be necessary. For example, if the output voltage, output current, and SOC level of the battery (400) decrease in the current cycle, it may be determined that an increase in the regenerative braking level is necessary. Even if an increase in the regenerative braking level is necessary, the regenerative braking level in the next cycle may be the same as the regenerative braking level in the current cycle. Since the regenerative braking level is not increased, the battery charge amount may decrease, and the driving strategy in the next cycle may be adjusted to compensate for the decrease in the battery charge amount. For example, to compensate for the decrease in battery charge, driving responsiveness may be reduced, the distance between vehicles may be increased, and the driving route may be changed to one with a high constant speed ratio. In this way, an increase in the level of regenerative braking may be prevented, thereby reducing battery (400) degradation due to regenerative braking.
