Description

[0001] SET OF SCREWS FOR REMOVING LOCK CYLINDERS

[0002] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The object of the invention is a set of screws that allow doors to be opened using the cylinder extraction technique, whether they are security or serrated cylinders, without the need for additional tools. The set of screws is what causes the cylinder to split into two halves.

[0004] TECHNICAL SECTOR

[0005] Locks. Door cylinders. General locksmithing.

[0006] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0007] Locks of various designs are conventionally removed to unlock a locked space using tedious and time-consuming techniques that usually involve drilling. Often, the customer loses their key, making it necessary to hire the services of a locksmith to gain access to the space. This common technique involves drilling a series of holes in several locations, destroying not only the lock itself but also the door. In this case, neither the door nor the components of the locking assembly are reusable. Losing the key to a lock equipped with a lock cylinder means that the lock itself can only be opened, resulting in a considerable loss of time and money.

[0008] The most common practice employed by locksmiths tasked with accessing such secure enclosures results in extensive damage and even total destruction of the lock. This conventional practice involves drilling, tapping, and subsequent lock removal, which is not only destructive to the lock's internal elements but also requires a substantial amount of time to perform. Even when the lock itself is not drilled internally, conventional practices have provided for drilling one or more holes in the enclosure door so that the locking levers can be sequentially lifted or drilling to override the lock. These alternative practices also destroy at least some elements of the lock, require replacement of the cabinet door, and are extremely time-consuming.The substantial amount of time required to override cylinder locks and the resulting damage to the locks has previously prompted efforts to improve conventional techniques.

[0009] US Patent US3619887 provides a tool for forcibly extracting a cylinder lock from a secure enclosure, the tool comprising a channel-shaped body having beveled tabs for engaging the exposed edge of the cylinder lock behind the rim, the tool then being withdrawn from the enclosure by an attached implement that allows sufficient mechanical advantage to forcibly remove the lock from the enclosure. Use of this prior art tool inevitably causes damage to certain internal parts of the lock and typically damages the enclosure door. Furthermore, cylinder locks that are recessed or "recessed" into the enclosure door.

[0010] US patent US4982493 discloses a device for extracting lock cylinders from door locks comprising a support bridge including a through hole and a self-tapping screw in said through hole, said self-tapping screw being adapted to be screwed into a lock cylinder to be extracted, the self-tapping screw serving as a tension bar; two through lifting screws each arranged in an end area of the support bridge and parallel to the through hole; and two support feet, wherein on its side facing the lock cylinder, the support bridge further includes two recesses within which said two support feet are arranged, respectively, said support feet rotatably supporting said lifting screws. The self-tapping screw is configured as a flat-head screw, and the through hole is countersunk to receive the screw head. This has the advantage of optimal force distribution between the support bridge and the self-tapping screw, thereby ensuring that the self-tapping screw will not strip. The problem with this type of device is that it is only suitable for a specific type of lock.

[0011] In the art, there is also a tool consisting of a set of lock cylinder extractors marketed by Lock Picking Center, designed for locksmiths and government agencies. It allows the removal of all types of cylinder locks (profile, round, and oval) without damaging the door. It is also suitable for opening so-called "one-way" doors, such as glass and garage doors. This tool incorporates a variety of elements, including a cylinder extractor, a base plate for round cylinders, a base plate for profile cylinders, two rubber adhesive protective rings, ten special 4.2 mm extraction screws, ten special 4.8 mm extraction screws, ten special 5.4 mm extraction screws, and a 19 mm ring / spanner wrench. The problem with this set of elements for extracting cylinders is the complexity of the instrument, since it is made up of numerous elements, and the excessive commercial cost.

[0012] The present invention satisfactorily solves the problems of the technique, avoiding the use of many tools that end up destroying the lock or highly expensive devices. The invention reveals a set of two screws, the first of which allows penetration into the lock and the second screw allows extraction of the cylinder, since it is the extraction screw itself that exerts all the necessary pressure to break the cylinder. Without using any additional tools, which support the extraction function, which is exclusive to the extraction screw. Using the mechanical traction of the screw thread itself, half of the cylinder is protruding, while the screw remains inserted. There will come a time when the extraction force of the screw exceeds the maximum limit of the cylinder and it breaks in half.

[0013] DESCRIPTION

[0014] DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0015] To complement the description being made and in order to help better understand the characteristics of the invention, according to a preferred example of its practical implementation, a set of drawings is attached as an integral part of said description, in which the following has been represented for illustrative and non-limiting purposes:

[0016] Figure 1- shows a horizontal view of the first screw (10) of the assembly that allows the necessary coils to be made inside the cylinder's cylinder and which is formed by a head (11), a rod formed by a neck (12) and a thread portion (13) of shorter length than the neck (12) and of greater diameter than said neck (12), and a non-penetrating tip (14).

[0017] Figure 2- shows a horizontal view of the second screw (20) that allows the cylinder to be extracted and which is formed by a head (21), a rod formed by a neck portion (22) and a threaded area (23) of greater length and greater diameter than said neck portion (22), and a non-penetrating rounded tip (24).

[0018] Figure 3- shows a view of the first screw (10) penetrating through the previous hole of the cylinder cylinder, said screw (10) reaches the stop shown in the figure, as it passes it generates the thread inside the cylinder.

[0019] Figure 4 shows a view of the second screw (20) penetrating through the thread generated by the first screw (10), where said screw (20) reaches the stop shown in the figure. The second screw (20) will penetrate the interior of the cylinder thanks to its coils, when this second screw (20) reaches the stop shown in the figure, the second screw (20) remains in this same position turning without advancing in length which causes the cylinder to come out by the action of said turning of the second screw (20), since it reaches the breaking point, as seen in the figure.

[0020] PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION The present invention reveals a set of two screws, the first of which allows penetration into the lock and the second screw allows extraction of the cylinder, since it is the extraction screw itself that exerts all the necessary pressure to break the cylinder. Without using any additional tool, which supports the extraction function, which is exclusive to the extraction screw.

[0021] Every screw consists of the following parts: head, neck, thread, shank, and point (penetrating). In non-metric screws (threaded into nuts), all parts of the screw are designed so that the screw easily enters, creating its own thread while simultaneously inserting itself into the material and remaining fixed to it without the possibility of it coming out on its own.

[0022] Screw tips facilitate screw penetration, which will always penetrate the material being drilled and create the spirals that aid in the screw insertion process. The key to screw insertion is penetration, and for that, the tip is vitally important.

[0023] The present invention discloses a set of screws for extracting lock cylinders comprising a first screw (10) that allows the necessary coils to be made inside the cylinder's cylinder and that is formed by a head (11), a rod formed by a neck (12) and a thread portion (13) of shorter length than the neck (12) and of larger diameter than said neck (12), and a non-penetrating tip (14); and a second screw (20) that allows the cylinder to be extracted and that is formed by a head (21), a rod formed by a neck portion (22) and a thread area (23) of greater length and larger diameter than said neck portion (22), and a non-penetrating rounded tip (24).

[0024] The first screw (10) allows the necessary turns to be made without the friction that would be obtained if the threaded portion were larger. The first screw (10) will perform this function easily and without risk of collapse of the screw (10) since only a small portion of the thread (13) will be working. The rest of the screw, the neck (12) has a smaller diameter so it does not interfere with the making of the thread inside the cylinder.

[0025] Once the first screw (10) has performed its function of creating a thread inside the cylinder, the second screw (20) will come into operation, which is responsible for extracting the cylinder. The second screw (20) will easily enter the hole made by the first screw (10). The second screw (20) will penetrate the inside of the cylinder thanks to its coils, when this second screw (20) reaches the end, the rounded tip (24) designed not to penetrate will make said second screw (20) remain in this same position, and although the second screw (20) continues turning, it will not advance in its position. This act of turning and maintaining its position will mean that, if the second screw (20) cannot enter, the lock cylinder will have to come out due to the turning action of the second screw (20). The action of splitting the cylinder into two halves will be carried out by the second screw (20) itself when the tip (24) touches the bottom of the cylinder. The rounded tip (24) will prevent the second screw (20) from continuing to enter, but turning it will cause the coils to extract the cylinder.

[0026] The first screw (10) and the second screw (15) have a shank with a length of at least 50 mm. The thread portion (13) of the first screw (10) has a length of at least 6 mm. The thread region (23) of the second screw (20) has a length of at least 35 mm.

[0027] The neck (12) of the first screw (10) and the neck (22) of the second screw (20) have a diameter of approximately 5.20 mm. The diameter of the thread portion (13) of the first screw (10) and the diameter of the thread area (23) of the second screw (20) is at least 6.3 mm.

[0028] The non-penetrating tip (14) of the first screw (10) and the non-penetrating rounded tip (24) of the second screw (20) have a length of at least 5 mm. The non-penetrating rounded tip (24) of the second screw (20) has a diameter of at least 4.40 mm.
