Description

Additives for preventing bird collisions, compositions for preventing bird collisions using the same, and materials for preventing bird collisions

[0001] The present invention relates to an additive for preventing bird collisions using animal urine, a composition for preventing bird collisions using the same, and a material for preventing bird collisions. More specifically, the present invention relates to an additive for preventing bird collisions using an extract extracted from animal urine, which stably prevents bird collisions by applying the additive to various materials for preventing bird collisions such as paints, glass, sealants, film compositions, and glass frames, and to a composition for preventing bird collisions using the same and a material for preventing bird collisions.

[0002] Recently, with the advancement of transparent and soundproof windows, the number of wild birds colliding with glass and dying has increased. This threatens the healthy natural ecosystem and causes environmental problems such as the spread of infectious diseases from dead birds. Bird collisions can also cause glass breakage and secondary damage, resulting in injuries and psychological trauma. Consequently, the need for bird collision prevention is growing.

[0003] To solve this problem, reflective film is installed or stickers with a specific shape and adhesive surface are attached to the glass at regular intervals to prevent birds from colliding with it.

[0004] In Korea, among the places where bird collision reduction measures have been taken to prevent bird collisions, raptor stickers have been reported to be ineffective, and noise barriers, where 230,000 birds collide annually, are being sequentially affixed with reduction measure stickers by applying the 5×10 rule (5cm vertical gap, 10cm horizontal gap). However, according to Nature Ring (wild bird window collision survey) records, bird collisions are being frequently reported not only with the current 5×10 rule reduction stickers but also with the 5×5 rule reduction stickers. This demonstrates that birds, which fly fast at an average speed of 36-72km / h, do not meaningfully recognize the reduction measure stickers applied under the current standard.

[0005] Furthermore, according to data from the Ministry of Environment and the National Institute of Ecology, the estimated number of birds hit by buildings is 7.65 million per year, meaning that more than one bird collides with each building per year. It is estimated that collisions with buildings are about 33 times more common than with sound barriers, and in particular, buildings are difficult for both birds and people to perceive due to the reflective nature of the glass. Attaching 5x10 rule and 5x5 rule reduction measures stickers to the interior of more than 80% of private buildings is ineffective due to the glass coating and reflectivity, and external attachment is mostly not even considered.

[0006] Furthermore, these types of bird collision prevention stickers require significant labor and precise spacing across all glass surfaces, making them expensive to install. Furthermore, the stickers are prone to peeling off due to various environmental factors, making maintenance difficult.

[0007] Therefore, recently, films with patterns at regular intervals have been attached to transparent glass to improve work efficiency and maintain their shape even under external impacts such as rain and wind, making maintenance easier.

[0008] However, these films had disadvantages such as reducing the transparency of the glass and thus compromising the view.

[0009] Meanwhile, birds possess far superior color vision than humans, allowing them to see a wider range of colors. While humans can only see visible light with their three cones, birds, with their four cones, can see a wide range of colors, including ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 300-400 nm. In other words, most birds have photoreceptors that absorb ultraviolet light, allowing them to see into the ultraviolet range, and they use this ultraviolet vision to locate prey and select mates.

[0010] One way to find prey using ultraviolet vision is through animal urine. Animal urine reflects ultraviolet light, so they use ultraviolet vision to detect animal urine patterns in nature, tracking and hunting the movements of animals like rats.

[0011] Accordingly, the purpose of the present invention is to prevent collisions with obstacles made of transparent materials by using photoreceptors that absorb ultraviolet rays of birds, and to provide an additive for preventing collisions with birds using an extract extracted from animal urine, which reflects ultraviolet rays without impairing transparency, thereby enabling birds to recognize obstacles.

[0012] Another object of the present invention is to enable the composition of paints, glass, sealants and film compositions, as well as various bird collision prevention materials, to be formed using such additives.

[0013] Another object of the present invention is to provide a composition and material for preventing bird collisions that enable birds to recognize obstacles not only during external construction but also during internal construction.

[0014] The bird collision prevention additive of the present invention for achieving the above-mentioned purpose is composed of an extract extracted from animal urine, and is characterized in that the extract has a function of reflecting ultraviolet rays.

[0015] The above extract is characterized by being a sediment obtained by centrifuging animal urine.

[0016] The composition for preventing bird collisions according to the present invention is characterized by including the above-mentioned bird collision prevention additive.

[0017] It is characterized in that the composition for preventing bird collisions comprises 5 to 30 wt% of the additive based on 100 wt% of the composition for preventing bird collisions.

[0018] And the bird collision prevention material according to the present invention is characterized in that it comprises the above-described bird collision prevention composition.

[0019] The above material is characterized in that it is formed of a bird collision prevention film or glass and a bird collision prevention composition.

[0020] The above material is characterized in that it is a glass frame, and the bird collision prevention composition is applied to a part or the entire surface thereof.

[0021] The above material is an interior / exterior building material, and comprises a glass frame (100); glass (200) mounted on the glass frame (100); and a sealant (300) applied and cured to a surface where the glass frame (100) and the glass (200) come into contact, wherein the glass frame (100) has the bird collision prevention composition applied to the entirety or part of its surface, the glass (200) is composed of the bird collision prevention composition, or has a film formed of the bird collision prevention composition attached to the entirety or part of its surface, and the sealant (300) is composed of the bird collision prevention composition.

[0022] According to the bird collision prevention additive of the present invention, the bird collision prevention composition using the same, and the bird collision prevention material, there is an advantage in that it can reliably prevent flying birds from colliding with transparent soundproof walls, aircraft, etc., by reflecting ultraviolet rays and making them recognized as obstacles by flying birds.

[0023] Figure 1 is a perspective view of an interior / exterior building material according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0024] Figure 2 is a photograph of a sediment obtained through centrifugation of urine according to Example 1 of the present invention.

[0025] Figure 3 is a polarizing microscope photograph according to Test Example 1 of the present invention.

[0026] Figure 4 is a photograph showing the results of Test Example 2 of the present invention.

[0027] Figure 5 is a photograph showing the presence or absence of ultraviolet reflection according to test example 3 of the present invention.

[0028] Figure 6 is a photograph of a UV (365 nm) reflection test.

[0029] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail.

[0030] The most significant feature of the bird collision prevention additive according to the present invention is that it prevents birds from colliding with transparent obstacles, such as glass, by using the birds' ultraviolet vision and animal urine that reflects ultraviolet rays.

[0031] In addition, the greatest feature is that even when compositions and materials containing these additives are installed inside obstacles, they enable birds to easily recognize obstacles.

[0032] Specifically, the bird collision prevention additive according to the present invention is composed of an extract extracted from animal urine, and is characterized in that the extract has a function of reflecting ultraviolet rays.

[0033] As previously explained, animal urine reflects ultraviolet rays, and the present invention has developed an additive for preventing bird collisions by taking advantage of this fact. In nature, birds can see the morphological characteristics of animal urine marks using ultraviolet vision, and identify urine marks through this ultraviolet vision, and track prey based on this. Specifically, birds can identify not only animal urine but also numerous objects that reflect ultraviolet rays through ultraviolet vision, and thus, utilizing ultraviolet reflection allows birds to easily recognize obstacles. Therefore, the present invention utilizes an extract of animal urine, which is inexpensive to manufacture among ultraviolet reflectors and whose ultraviolet reflection makes it easy for birds to identify obstacles.

[0034] The extract extracted from the above animal urine is a sediment obtained by centrifuging animal urine, and more specifically, animal urine is centrifuged once at 3000 to 4000 rpm, the supernatant is discarded, centrifuged again at 3000 to 4000 rpm, and the sediment is collected. This sediment reflects ultraviolet rays, and when included in various bird collision prevention compositions and materials, it is recognized as an obstacle to birds through the reflection of ultraviolet rays.

[0035] At this time, the centrifugation time is not limited, and centrifugation for 5 to 60 minutes is sufficient considering the amount of urine. The urine may be used regardless of the type of animal, such as rabbit, dog, or human, and excrement containing urine may also be used.

[0036] Meanwhile, the bird collision prevention additive according to the present invention may include a magnetic mineral along with the urine extract. In this case, a weight ratio of approximately 10:1 to 4 is sufficient.

[0037] The above magnetic mineral exhibits ferromagnetism, which induces magnetic field changes, enabling birds to recognize obstacles through their awareness. In other words, by including more of the above magnetic mineral, birds can recognize obstacles not only through UV reflection but also through their awareness, thereby more reliably preventing bird strikes regardless of weather conditions.

[0038] At this time, it is sufficient to use at least one type of magnetite, hematite, maghemite, pyrrhotite, greigite, and goethite as the magnetic mineral, and it goes without saying that various types of known ferromagnetic minerals can also be used. In addition, the magnetic mineral is included in the form of powder, and a particle size of about 100 to 325 mesh is sufficient.

[0039] First, the bird collision prevention additive according to the present invention can be applied to various bird collision prevention compositions. In this case, the composition may be any one of a paint composition, a glass composition, a sealant composition, and a film composition.

[0040] And, based on 100% by weight of the composition for preventing bird collisions, it is preferable to include 5 to 30% by weight of the additive. This is because if the additive is less than 5% by weight, ultraviolet reflectivity decreases and bird collisions cannot be sufficiently prevented.

[0041] The above bird collision prevention composition may be a paint composition.

[0042] The above-mentioned paint composition can be applied to glass for soundproof walls, glass for building exterior windows, glass frames, bird strike prevention films, and aircraft, and can also be applied to various interior and exterior building materials, and its uses are not limited. In other words, it can be applied to not only architectural paint compositions but also aircraft paint compositions.

[0043] At this time, the paint composition can be manufactured by adjusting the transparency according to the intended use, and by reflecting ultraviolet rays when irradiated with ultraviolet rays, it can be recognized as an obstacle to birds.

[0044] When forming the above paint composition, the above additive is mixed at 5 to 30 wt% with a general paint, i.e., 70 to 95 wt% of a base paint, and the base paint can be formed with the composition of various paints that have been published in the past. In addition, the paint composition can be formed as an oil-based or water-based composition, and the implementation thereof is not limited. In addition, the base paint can be a transparent base paint, but it is of course also possible to use a colored base paint.

[0045] The above bird collision prevention composition may be a glass composition.

[0046] This is also composed by mixing 5 to 30 wt% of the above-mentioned additive with 70 to 95 wt% of a general glass composition, and the composition of the general glass composition may be as previously published. For example, the general glass composition may be composed of 10 to 20 wt% of Na2O, 5 to 15 wt% of CaO, 0.05 to 5 wt% of MgO, 0.05 to 5 wt% of Al2O3, 0.01 to 5 wt% of K2O, and the remainder of SiO2. The composition is composed by mixing 5 to 30 wt% of the additive of the present invention with 70 to 95 wt% of a general glass composition of this composition, and the composition is formed by molding the same to manufacture a glass product. At this time, the general glass composition may be a transparent glass composition, but it is of course also possible to use a colored glass composition.

[0047] These bird collision prevention glass compositions also effectively reflect ultraviolet rays without compromising the transparency of the product, thereby preventing bird collisions.

[0048] The above bird collision prevention composition may be a sealant composition.

[0049] Specifically, the sealant composition is formed by mixing 5 to 30 wt% of the above-described additive with 70 to 95 wt% of the sealant composition, and the sealant composition may be any of those disclosed in the related art. For example, the sealant composition may be composed of 20 to 30 wt% of a plasticizer, 5 to 10 wt% of a crosslinking agent, and the remainder of a silicone base polymer. It goes without saying that the sealant composition may further include additives such as other adhesion promoters and fillers. The sealant composition may be transparent, but it goes without saying that a colored sealant composition may also be used.

[0050] The sealant composition for preventing bird collisions of the present invention also effectively reflects ultraviolet rays without impairing the transparency of the product, thereby preventing bird collisions.

[0051] Additionally, the composition for preventing bird collisions may be a film composition.

[0052] At this time, the film composition is prepared by mixing 5 to 30 wt% of the additive of the present invention with 70 to 95 wt% of the resin for the base film, and the mixture can be molded and cured to produce a film. Here, the resin for the base film may be a conventionally disclosed epoxy resin or silicone resin, but is not limited thereto, and it is obvious that it may be various other film material resins. In addition, the resin for the base film may be a transparent resin, but it is also obvious that a colored resin can be used.

[0053] In addition, such a film composition can be formed into a sticker-type film. A film is formed by mixing 5 to 30 wt% of the additive of the present invention with 70 to 95 wt% of the resin for the above-mentioned base film, and an adhesive layer and a release paper are sequentially formed on the lower surface thereof to provide a sticker-type film for bird collision prevention used in the past.

[0054] In addition, the bird collision prevention additive and bird collision prevention composition according to the present invention can be applied to various materials. Here, the material is not limited in type as long as it is intended to prevent bird collisions, and the bird collision prevention material according to the present invention is composed of the above-described bird collision prevention additive or the above-described bird collision prevention composition.

[0055] Here, the bird collision prevention material may be a bird collision prevention film. The bird collision prevention film may be manufactured by molding and curing the bird collision prevention film composition described above, or may be configured by applying the bird collision prevention paint composition described above to the entire or part of the surface of a general base film. Regardless of the configuration, bird collisions can be stably prevented. At this time, the coating composition may be applied in the form of dots, lines, etc., as in the related art, but the spacing should be such that the vertical pattern width is 6 mm or more, the pattern spacing is 10 cm or less, and the horizontal pattern width is 3 mm or more and the pattern spacing is 5 cm or less, as provided by the Ministry of Environment.

[0056] Furthermore, such bird collision prevention films can be provided in the form of commercially available stickers. This can be achieved by forming an adhesive layer on the back of the film and providing a release liner on the adhesive layer. Such sticker-type films can be applied to conventionally constructed soundproof walls, glass windows, etc.

[0057] In addition, the bird collision prevention material may be glass. The bird collision prevention glass may be formed using the glass composition described above, may be formed by adhering the bird collision prevention film described above to the surface of general transparent glass, or may be formed by applying the bird collision prevention paint composition described above to the surface of general transparent glass, but the implementation thereof is not limited thereto.

[0058] In addition, the bird collision prevention material according to the present invention may be a glass frame. The glass frame may be formed by including the bird collision prevention additive according to the present invention, or may be formed by applying the bird collision prevention paint composition to a portion or the entire surface of the glass frame, but the implementation thereof is not limited thereto.

[0059] In addition, the material according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1, is an interior / exterior building material, and comprises a glass frame (100); glass (200) mounted on the glass frame (100); and a sealant (300) applied and cured on a surface where the glass frame (100) and the glass (200) come into contact, wherein the glass frame (100) has the bird collision prevention composition applied to the entire surface or a portion thereof, the glass (200) is composed of the bird collision prevention composition, or has a film formed of the bird collision prevention composition attached to the entire surface or a portion thereof, and the sealant (300) is composed of the bird collision prevention composition, thereby safely preventing bird collisions over the entire interior / exterior building material.

[0060] In addition, the above-described interior and exterior building materials may further include an ultraviolet light (400). The ultraviolet light (400) supplies ultraviolet rays to the glass (200), glass frame (100), and sealant (300), so that the glass (200), glass frame (100), and sealant (300) are continuously supplied with ultraviolet rays regardless of the weather or time of day, thereby reflecting the ultraviolet rays and helping birds to clearly recognize them as obstacles.

[0061] At this time, the above ultraviolet light (300) is known, and the method of applying power to the ultraviolet light (300) is also known, so further description thereof is omitted.

[0062] In addition, the installation location of the above ultraviolet light (300) is not limited, but as an example, it can be installed on one side of the glass frame (100) to efficiently supply ultraviolet rays to the installed interior and exterior building materials, while a separate solar panel (not shown) can be installed to stably supply power.

[0063] In addition, the bird collision prevention additive according to the present invention is included and used during the molding of various interior and exterior building materials, etc., and thus can reflect ultraviolet rays, and its use is not limited.

[0064] In addition, it is obvious that the paint composition and film for preventing bird collisions according to the present invention can stably prevent bird collisions by being applied and adhered to various articles and materials to prevent bird collisions, and its use is not limited. However, when the paint composition and film are applied and adhered to have a pattern such as dots or lines, the spacing should be 6 mm or more in width for vertical patterns, 10 cm or less in spacing between patterns, and 3 mm or more in width and 5 cm or less in spacing between patterns for horizontal patterns, as provided by the Ministry of Environment.

[0065] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail through specific examples.

[0066] (Example 1)

[0067] 500 ml of dog urine was prepared and centrifuged at 3500 rpm for 10 minutes. The supernatant was removed, and the remainder was centrifuged a second time at 3500 rpm for 10 minutes. A white precipitate (urine extract) was obtained from the second centrifuged material. Figure 2 is a photograph showing the state of the precipitate in the centrifuge and the obtained precipitate.

[0068] (Example 2)

[0069] 90 g of soft transparent epoxy (weight ratio of main agent and hardener: 2:1) was added to 14 g of the extract obtained from Example 1, mixed, and formed into a film with a thickness of 0.5 mm and cured.

[0070] (Example 1)

[0071] The extract obtained through Example 1 was photographed using a polarizing microscope, and the results are shown in Fig. 3.

[0072] As shown in Fig. 3, it was confirmed that the extract extracted from urine according to the present invention exhibited light reflection.

[0073] (Example 2)

[0074] The film manufactured through Example 2 was exposed to UV (365 nm) to check for UV reflection. The results are shown in Fig. 4.

[0075] As shown in Fig. 4, it was confirmed that the film of Example 2 reflected ultraviolet rays.

[0076] (Example 3)

[0077] After opening one side of the tent, a general transparent film was attached to the open side. Then, on the left side of the inner center of the transparent film, the film manufactured through Example 2 was cut into 8 mm wide and 8 mm long sizes and attached at 5 cm intervals from top to bottom, left to right. On the right side of the inner center, commercially available bird collision prevention stickers were attached at the same intervals as on the left side.

[0078] And the presence or absence of ultraviolet reflection by UV (365 nm) at night was checked, and the result is shown in Fig. 5. By leaving it for 24 hours and filming whether or not there was a collision with a bird, the number of collisions was confirmed.

[0079] Test Example 3 Results Classification Example 2 Attachment surface Commercial bird collision prevention sticker Attachment surface (comparative example) Transparent film surface (control) Number of collisions in 24 hours 4 times 20 times 50 times

[0080] As a result, as shown in Table 1 above, it was confirmed that birds collided 4 times in 24 hours on the left side of the center where the film according to the present invention was attached, 20 times on the right side of the center where a commercially available collision prevention sticker was attached, and about 50 or more times on the transparent areas where stickers on the left, right, and top were not attached.

[0081] Accordingly, it was confirmed that the film of Example 2 according to the present invention not only prevents bird collisions more effectively than conventional bird collision prevention stickers, but also prevents bird collisions when installed on the inside of an obstacle.

[0082] In addition to Fig. 5, Fig. 6 is a photograph showing a UV (365 nm) reflection test.

[0083] As described above, the bird collision prevention additive, composition, and material according to the present invention have the advantage of stably preventing flying birds from colliding with transparent soundproof walls and the like by reflecting ultraviolet rays without compromising the transparency of the product, and have the advantage of being applicable not only to soundproof walls but also to various paint compositions, glass compositions, sealant compositions, film compositions, and even to interior and exterior building materials. In addition, they have the advantage of being capable of being installed on the inside of obstacles.
