Abstract
Description
[0001] REACTIVE SOUND TRANSDUCER SYSTEM
[0002] The invention relates to a sound transducer system with a full-range sound transducer and a woofer.
[0003] Sound transducer systems of the type described are used in the prior art to supplement the limited frequency spectrum of individual sound transducers, so that the most uniform quality possible is achieved in the generation of the frequency components of an acoustic signal in the range of approximately 20 Hertz to 20,000 Hertz.
[0004] However, all known transducer systems have the disadvantage that the overall transfer function continues to have frequency gaps in which the frequencies of an acoustic signal with a broad frequency spectrum are transmitted worse than in adjacent frequency ranges. This leads to an overall poor reproduction of the original
[0005] Acoustic signal .
[0006] The object of the invention is therefore to create a sound transducer system whose transmission function is more uniform and stable over a wide frequency range than that of known sound transducer systems.
[0007] For a sound transducer system of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the vibrating membranes of the full-range sound transducer and the woofer are arranged within two separate housings so as to radiate in opposite directions, wherein a spatial area of predetermined volume is closed off behind each of the sound transducers by means of a respective separating element.
[0008] Preferred embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims, the elements of which act in the sense of a further improvement of the approach to solving the problem underlying the invention.
[0009] The sound transducer system according to the invention, thanks to the above combination of features, makes it possible to improve and adapt the transmission function of each individual sound transducer by largely eliminating rearward-radiated sound waves. This makes it possible to seamlessly combine the entire transmission functions of the individual sound transducers in a way that is predictable, configurable, and optimizable. The performance and sound quality of the system according to the invention are thus noticeably better than that of comparable-sized sound transducer systems in the prior art.
[0010] According to a first preferred embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, it is provided that there is a cavity with a predetermined volume between the two separating elements.
[0011] The cavity is preferably filled with a gas, for example air, and designed in such a way that it generates a rear counterpressure against the vibrations of the separating elements of the sound transducers.
[0012] According to an important preferred embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, a separation ring defining the width of the cavity between the separation elements is mounted between the separation element that closes off the spatial area behind the full-range sound transducer and the separation element that closes off the spatial area behind the woofer.
[0013] The separation ring is preferably tapered towards the outside.
[0014] According to a further important preferred embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, the separating element arranged behind the full-range sound transducer is formed from an elastic or solid, vibratable material and is connected in a vibratable manner to the inner surface of the respective housing wall, while the separating element arranged behind the woofer is also formed from an elastic or solid, vibratable material and is connected in a vibratable manner to the inner surface of the respective housing wall.
[0015] The solid material of the separating element arranged behind the woofer is preferably made of a multi-layer composite material.
[0016] Furthermore, a connecting phase is preferably provided in the region where each separating element adjoins the inner surface of the respective housing wall. The outer surface of a connecting phase is preferably arranged at an angle of 15-65° to the inner wall of the housing.
[0017] As an alternative to the connecting phase, a concave or convex groove can also be provided in the area where each separating element adjoins the inner surface of the housing wall in question.
[0018] Preferably, therefore, in the region where each separating element (113, 123) adjoins the inner surface of the respective housing wall (151, 156), a hollow groove formed as a recess can be provided, which reduces mechanical stresses and serves for precise sound guidance by efficiently deflecting sound waves and ensuring a more uniform distribution of the sound energy. The hollow groove preferably has a length, measured from the outside to the inside, of 5% to 30% of the diameter of a respective separating element and is designed such that it efficiently focuses the sound waves and minimizes unwanted interference.
[0019] For the purpose of sound guidance, the cove can be either logarithmic or parabolic, as well as either concave or convex, with an angle of curvature of the cove being dimensioned from 5° to 65° in order to enable targeted control of the sound waves.
[0020] For the purpose of sound guidance, the cove can be either logarithmically concave or logarithmically convex or alternatively parabolically concave or parabolically convex, whereby the angle of curvature of the cove can be measured at 5° to 65°.
[0021] Alternatively, the cove can be designed to be parabolically concave or convex on one side and logarithmically concave or convex on the other side for the purpose of sound guidance, with the respective angle of curvature of the cove being dimensioned from 5° to 65°.
[0022] A separating element (113, 123) can, for example, be
[0023] Partition wall (1131, 1231) is formed.
[0024] Preferably, a separating element (113, 123) contains a membrane (241) mounted for vibration, the mounting of which has an elasticity dimensioned to efficiently convert sound energy into kinetic energy. The membrane can be logarithmic or parabolic, convex or concave in shape to ensure optimal vibration adaptation and sound control, and is made of a composite material.
[0025] Furthermore, a separating element (113, 123) can have a sound-damping pressure chamber (240) which contains the membrane (241) mounted in an oscillating bearing (242) or bead (242) and a closing plate (243) provided with a valve (244), wherein the internal pressure of the pressure chamber can be adjusted via the valve (244).
[0026] The bead is preferably provided with identical or different structures that influence the vibration behavior.
[0027] The bead contains a logarithmic or parabolic, concave or convex recess for the purpose of sound guidance, with the angle of curvature of the bead being between 5° and 65°.
[0028] Alternatively, the surround may contain a parabolic or logarithmic, concave or convex recess for the purpose of sound guidance, with the angle of curvature of the surround being between 5° and 65°.
[0029] Alternatively, the bead may contain a parabolically concave or convex depression on one side for the purpose of sound guidance and a logarithmically concave or convex depression on the other side, with the respective angle of curvature of the bead being dimensioned from 5 ° to 65 °.
[0030] The parabolic geometry or the logarithmic shape are designed to precisely focus the sound waves and guide them to the logarithmic absorber in order to ensure a sound-adapted interaction while avoiding linear shapes.
[0031] According to a simple embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, a separating element is formed by a partition wall.
[0032] According to a particularly effective embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, a separating element contains a membrane mounted so as to vibrate, the mounting of which has an elasticity which is dimensioned in order to efficiently convert sound energy into kinetic energy.
[0033] A separating element has in particular a sound-damping pressure chamber which contains the membrane mounted in an oscillating bearing (bead) and, opposite the membrane, a closing plate provided with a valve, wherein an internal pressure of the pressure chamber can be adjusted via the valve.
[0034] A pressure chamber ring is preferably provided between the membrane and the end plate, wherein a connecting phase or groove is provided in the area where the pressure chamber ring adjoins the inner surface of the relevant housing wall, similar to a partition wall.
[0035] According to a further preferred embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, a logarithmic sound wave absorber is arranged behind each of the sound transducers to further reduce the sound waves radiated backwards into the housing from each of the sound transducers.
[0036] A sound wave absorber can, for example, be held within a housing by means of a cross-shaped connecting web, wherein the tip of the respective sound wave absorber is firmly connected to the center of the cross-shaped connecting web and the ends of the connecting web remote from the center are firmly connected to the inner wall of the respective housing.
[0037] A sound wave absorber is preferably conical and is arranged in the housing so that the tip of each absorber is arranged near the back of each sound transducer.
[0038] Furthermore, an open base surface of an absorber, opposite the tip, is preferably arranged near each of the separating elements. A respective housing is preferably cylindrical.
[0039] According to a further preferred embodiment of the sound transducer system according to the invention, a sound wave absorber contains an absorption body with an inlet opening for the input of sound waves to be dampened and an outlet opening opposite the inlet opening, wherein the absorption body has a first end in the form of a tip near the inlet opening and an other end in the form of an open base surface opposite the first end and near the outlet opening, which are connected to one another via a central axis, wherein one or more open or closed sound guide walls are formed laterally of the central axis between the first end and the other end, which begin at the inlet opening near the central axis and increase in width outwards towards the other end and end at a terminal edge in the region of the other end, whose starting point is adjacent to the central axis and whose end point is located at a predetermined distance from the central axis.
[0040] The width of a respective sound guide wall preferably increases linearly, logarithmically or parabolically starting at the entrance opening near the central axis towards the other end, wherein the first end of the absorption body is opposite the end point of the end edge remote from the central axis via a preferably straight connecting line, and wherein a respective outer edge of a sound guide wall comes to lie on the connecting line.
[0041] A concise definition of individual components of the invention, including their function, is given below. Full-range transducer (110) & woofer (120):
[0042] • These transducers are arranged in separate housings and radiate in opposite directions to avoid destructive interactions.
[0043] • The full-range transducer covers the high and medium to low frequencies, while the woofer is responsible for particularly low frequencies.
[0044] Separating elements ( 113 , 123 ):
[0045] • These separate the rear area of the full-range transducer and woofer and are installed in the respective housings.
[0046] • The separation element of the full-range transducer is vibrating and connected to the inner wall of the cabinet, while the separation element of the woofer is rigid and consists of a solid material.
[0047] • The separating element of the full-range transducer is vibratable and can be made of rigid or elastic composite material and is vibratably connected to the inner wall of the cabinet, while the separating element of the woofer is either rigid or vibratable and can also be made of rigid or elastic composite material.
[0048] • Function: They limit the spatial geometries and prevent the retransmission of sound and minimize structure-borne noise.
[0049] Cavity ( 130 ) : • The cavity between the separating elements is filled with an acoustically optimized gas ( e . g . air ) .
[0050] • Function: The cavity acts as a pressure equalization chamber and influences the vibrations of the separating elements. It reduces sound reflections, ensures phase coherence, and prevents distortions in the sound spectrum without affecting the vibration of the separating elements.
[0051] Separation ring ( 140 ):
[0052] • The separation ring mechanically separates the separating elements and ensures that no structure-borne vibrations are transmitted between the housings.
[0053] • Tapered : It is pointed on the outside to prevent mechanical interference between the housing walls .
[0054] Connection phase ( 152 ):
[0055] • This phase serves to mechanically connect the separating elements to the housing wall.
[0056] • Function: It stabilizes the geometry at the weak point, reduces mechanical stresses and minimizes structure-borne noise by creating a clean transition zone between the separating elements and the housing wall.
[0057] Cove:
[0058] • The cove is a specific acoustic design element on the edges of the cabinet walls and partition elements.
[0059] • Function: It reduces mechanical stresses and prevents material fatigue and at the same time ensures efficient sound guidance by optimally redirecting sound waves and minimizing phase shifts.
[0060] Sound wave absorbers ( 1000 ):
[0061] • These absorbers are located behind the sound transducers and are shaped in an ogarithmic-conical manner.
[0062] • Function: The sound wave absorber's design reduces rearward-radiated sound waves by effectively and smoothly absorbing the sound deflected by the cove and the separating element or the pressure chamber silencer, and by preventing reflections and cross-frequency crosstalk. This prevents feedback and improves the clarity of the radiated sound by allowing the compression in the enclosure to be used to generate the sound without interference.
[0063] Pressure chamber with membrane ( 240 , 241 , 243 ) :
[0064] • The pressure chamber silencer with a vibrating membrane controls and absorbs the vibrations in the housing and ensures that the sound is generated without disturbing feedback or resonances.
[0065] • Function: The pressure chamber absorbs sound energy and prevents rearward sound waves from affecting the sound source's diaphragm. The geometrically and structurally adjustable diaphragm ensures optimal vibration control, sound control, and absorption.
[0066] Cross-shaped connecting bridge ( 170 ):
[0067] • This holds the sound wave absorber within the housing. • Function: It securely fixes the absorber in the optimal position behind the transducers, so that the tip of the absorber is close to the rear of the transducer. The position is adjusted to the specific sound flow.
[0068] Bass redirection:
[0069] • Function: Bass redirection is a critical element of the system, ensuring that the low frequencies reach the listener in phase with the mid and high frequencies. It uses the spatial delay of the bass to create constructive interference by redirecting the low frequencies.
[0070] • Mechanism: Bass redirection is achieved by a parabolic or logarithmic dish, or simply by proximity to the wall. The geometrically adjusted reflection compresses the low tones more strongly, but without interference. This specifically returns the bass to the listener earlier and synchronizes it with the higher frequencies.
[0071] • Effect: This results in improved spatial bass reproduction and ensures that the bass is integrated precisely and coherently into the overall sound image, enabling an authentic and natural sound perception.
[0072] Inertia optimization:
[0073] • The natural delay of the bass range is not only compensated but is even used to compensate for the temporal discrepancy between the high and low frequencies. This improves the sound coherence considerably,
[0074] Adjustment of the respective inertia.
[0075] Phase coherence through sound redirection:
[0076] • Addition to the bass deflection : The rotated phase position of the bass range is corrected by the deflection in such a way that the bass arrives spatially synchronously with the higher frequencies due to the longer overall path , although it would normally only be more distant and less perceptible due to the longer wavelength .
[0077] • Combination with inertia optimization: These two mechanisms (targeted bass redirection and targeted use of inertia) together ensure increased error-free compression and coherent sound perception across the entire frequency spectrum.
[0078] The inventive transducer system ensures optimal phase coherence and minimal distortion across the entire frequency range through its precise separation of mechanical vibrations and sound waves. The separation ring mechanically isolates the housing and housing walls, the cavity ensures pressure equalization through counterpressure, while the sound wave absorber eliminates disruptive, returning sound reflections. This synergy between the components ensures authentic and unadulterated sound reproduction in multiple disciplines. The inventive transducer system is explained below using a preferred embodiment, which is illustrated in the figure of the drawing. Therein:

According to the embodiment of the inventive sound transducer system shown in Figures 6 to 8, each separating element 113, 123 is formed by a vibration-mounted logarithmic or parabolic membrane 241, the mounting of which has an elasticity dimensioned to efficiently convert sound energy into kinetic energy.
[0101] The respective membrane 241 of a separating element 113, 123 designed in this way is arranged in a sound-damping pressure chamber 240, which on the one hand contains the membrane 241 mounted in an oscillating bearing 242 (bead) and on the other hand, opposite the membrane 241, a closing plate 243 provided with a valve 244, wherein an internal pressure of the pressure chamber 240 can be adjusted via the valve 244 mounted in the closing plate 243.
[0102] A pressure chamber ring 223 is provided between the membrane 241 and the end plate 243, wherein a connecting phase (252) or groove (1142) is provided in the region of the adjoining of the pressure chamber ring (223) to the inner surface of the respective housing wall (151, 156).
[0103] To further reduce the sound waves radiated backwards into the housing 150, a logarithmic sound wave absorber 1000 is arranged behind each of the sound transducers, which is held within the housing 150 by means of a cross-shaped connecting web 170, wherein the tip 1113 of the sound wave absorber 1000 is firmly connected to the center of the cross-shaped connecting web 170 and the ends 172 of the connecting web 170 remote from the center 171 are firmly connected to the inner wall of the housing 150.
[0104] Each logarithmic sound wave absorber 1000 is conical in shape and is arranged in the housing 150 such that the tip 1113 of each sound wave absorber 1000 is arranged near the back of each sound transducer 110, 120 and a base surface 1114 of a sound wave absorber 1000 opposite the tip 1113 is arranged near a respective one of the partition walls 113, 123.
