Abstract
Description
Electrode transport system
[0001] The present invention relates to an electrode transport system, and more particularly, to an electrode transport system capable of suppressing folding and lifting of an electrode tab during transport.
[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Republic of Korea Patent Application No. 10-2023-0121373, dated September 12, 2023, and all contents of the document in said Korean patent application are incorporated herein by reference.
[0003]
[0004] Secondary batteries are attracting significant attention as an energy source for a wide range of products, including mobile devices and electric vehicles. These batteries are a promising energy source that can replace the use of existing fossil fuels. They are also gaining recognition as an environmentally friendly energy source, as they produce no byproducts from energy use.
[0005] Secondary batteries are classified into cylindrical or square batteries, in which the jelly-roll is housed in a cylindrical or square metal can, and pouch-type batteries, in which the jelly-roll is housed in a pouch-type case made of aluminum laminate sheet, depending on the shape of the battery case.
[0006] The secondary battery is specifically composed of an electrode assembly, an electrode lead, and a case. Taking a pouch-type battery as an example, the secondary battery is composed of an electrode assembly in which electrodes and a separator are alternately laminated, the electrode assembly, an electrode lead electrically connected, and a pouch-type case that surrounds the electrode assembly so that the electrode lead is extended to the outside.
[0007] The above electrode is composed of an electrode sheet made of a metal material coated with an electrode material, wherein one side of the electrode sheet has electrode tabs extending at regular intervals to connect to electrode leads.
[0008] Since the thickness of the above electrode tab is processed very thinly, problems such as the electrode sheet being folded or broken during transport may frequently occur.
[0009] Figure 1 shows that electrode tab defects occurred during an actual electrode production process.
[0010] Secondary batteries with folded electrode tabs, as illustrated in FIG. 1, are ultimately judged as defective. Therefore, these defective electrode tabs directly contribute to a decline in the manufacturing yield of secondary batteries. If these defective electrode tabs are used as assembly components, they also render other normal components unusable. This can result in significant economic losses. Therefore, defective electrode tabs must be regularly screened and removed from the manufacturing process.
[0011] Therefore, during the electrode manufacturing process, the worker directly determines whether the electrode tabs are folded or lifted, but it is realistically difficult for the worker to discover all defective electrode tabs.

[0064] Hereinafter, the electrode transport system (1) of the present invention will be described with reference to each drawing.
[0065] Here, the longitudinal direction of the guide roller (100) refers to the direction extending the rotational axes (110) on both sides, the longitudinal direction of the guide member (210) refers to the direction corresponding to the rotational direction of the guide roller (100), and the width direction of the guide member (210) refers to the direction corresponding to the longitudinal direction of the guide roller (100).
[0066]
[0067]
[0068] (First embodiment)
[0069] Figure 2 is a schematic diagram briefly showing the entire electrode transport system (1) according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[0070] The above electrode transport system (1) includes a guide roller (100) that rotates and supports an electrode sheet (S), and a tab guide unit (200) that is positioned adjacent to the guide roller (100) to guide an electrode tab (T) of the electrode sheet (S) supported by the guide roller (100), and sprays or sucks air toward the electrode tab (T).

[0074] The above electrode active material may be a positive electrode active material used in the positive electrode of a secondary battery or a negative electrode active material used in the negative electrode of a secondary battery.
[0075] The positive electrode active material may include a lithium-containing transition metal oxide, and the negative electrode active material may include lithium metal, carbon material, and metal compound or a mixture thereof capable of absorbing and releasing lithium ions.
[0076] The above electrode sheet (S) includes an electrode portion coated with an electrode material and a non-coated portion not coated with an electrode material.
[0077] The electrode portion of the electrode sheet (S) is located at the center of the electrode sheet (S), and the non-coated portion is located at the edges on both sides of the electrode sheet (S).
[0078] A plurality of electrode tabs (T) formed at regular intervals are formed at one end of the non-conductive portion located on both sides of the electrode sheet (S).
[0079]
[0080] The above guide roller (100) is configured to rotate along the transport direction of the electrode sheet (S), supports the electrode sheet (S), and serves to change the transport direction of the supported electrode sheet (S). That is, the guide roller (100) can change the transport direction of the electrode sheet (S) by allowing the electrode sheet (S) to span the perimeter of a curved shape. At this time, the degree of direction change can be determined depending on the degree to which the electrode sheet (S) spans.
[0081] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a main portion of a guide roller (100) and a guide member (210) included in a tab guide unit (200), and FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram simply showing a side view of the guide roller (100) and guide member (210) of FIG. 3.
[0082] The above guide roller (100) has a cylindrical shape as shown in FIG. 3 and rotates around a rotation axis (110).
[0083] The above guide roller (100) can be rotated by being coupled to a rotation shaft (110) that can rotate on roller supports (120) provided on both sides.
[0084] In some embodiments, the rotation shaft (110) and the roller support (120) may be bearing-coupled to allow the guide roller (100) to rotate smoothly.

[0086] In some embodiments, the guide roller (100) can be actively rotated by a separate power source.
[0087]
[0088] The above tap guide unit (200) includes a guide member (210) and a pump unit (220).
[0089] The above guide member (210) is positioned corresponding to the guide roller (100) and guides the electrode tab (T) of the electrode sheet (S) supported by the guide roller (100).
[0090] The above guide member (210) is positioned at a position corresponding to the electrode tab (T) of the electrode sheet (S) so as to effectively guide the electrode tab (T) as shown in FIG. 3.
[0091] In some embodiments, the guide member (210) may be rotatably coupled to a roller support (120) that supports the guide roller (100). Specifically, the guide member (210) is provided so as to be rotatable along the curved surface of the guide roller (100) about the rotational axis (110) of the guide roller (100).
[0092] In some embodiments, a connecting support (240) extending from the roller support (120) to the guide member (210) may be coupled to the side of the guide member (210).

Accordingly, the guide member (210) rotates along the curved surface of the guide roller (100) in an arc with the rotational axis (110) of the guide roller (100) as the connecting support (240) rotates about the roller support (120).
[0094] However, the shape of the connecting support (240) need not be limited to that shown in FIG. 3, and any shape that can enable the guide member (210) to rotate around the rotation axis (110) of the guide roller (100) may be applied to the connecting support (240).
[0095] The above guide member (210) includes a guide surface (Sg) facing the guide roller (100) or the electrode sheet (S) supported by the guide roller (100).
[0096] The above guide surface (Sg) can be formed to include an arc-shaped circular portion corresponding to the curved shape of the surface of the guide roller (100) as illustrated in FIG. 4.
[0097] The above guide surface (Sg) prevents the electrode tab (T) formed on one side from being bent or bent while the electrode sheet (S) is bent across the guide roller (100).
[0098] Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a guide member (210) with its top and bottom reversed, and Fig. 6 is a plan view of the guide surface (Sg) of the guide member (210) of Fig. 5.
[0099] Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, the guide member (210) includes at least one hole (211) formed to allow air to flow in and out.
[0100] In some embodiments, each hole (211) may be designed to have a different shape and diameter. Alternatively, in other embodiments, each hole (211) may be designed to have substantially the same shape and diameter.

[0102] In some embodiments, the hole (211) may have a dot shape. More specifically, the hole (211) may have a shape such as a circle, an ellipse, or a polygon.
[0103] A plurality of holes (211) can be aligned and spaced apart at a predetermined interval along the length direction and / or width direction of the guide member (210) as illustrated in FIG. 6.
[0104]
[0105] The above pump unit (220) serves to provide suction and spraying force of air to the guide member (210), as briefly illustrated in Fig. 2. That is, the pump unit (220) is connected to the hole (211) of the guide member (210) so as to be in communication with it, thereby providing suction and spraying force to the guide member (210).
[0106] The above pump unit (220) and the guide member (210) are connected through a hollow tube (230) with an empty interior, such as a hose, and the air pressure generated in the pump unit (220) is transmitted to the guide member (210) through the inside of the tube (230).

[0108] In some embodiments, one injection pump (222) may be in communication with one hole (211), or may be in communication with multiple holes (211) simultaneously.
[0109] In some embodiments, one suction pump (221) may be in communication with one hole (211).
[0110] In some embodiments, one suction pump (221) may be connected to multiple holes (211) simultaneously.
[0111] The hole (211) connected to the injection pump (222) injects air toward the electrode sheet (S) when the injection pump (222) operates. More specifically, the hole (211) connected to the injection pump (222) injects air toward the electrode tab (T) included in the electrode sheet (S).
[0112] The hole (211) connected to the suction pump (221) sucks air in a direction toward the electrode sheet (S) when the suction pump (221) operates. More specifically, the hole (211) connected to the suction pump (221) sucks air in a direction toward the electrode tab (T) included in the electrode sheet (S).
[0113]
[0114] FIG. 7 is a plan view of a guide surface (Sg) of a guide member (210) according to one embodiment, and FIG. 8 is a plan view of a guide surface (Sg) of a guide member (210) according to another embodiment.
[0115] Referring to FIGS. 7 and 8, the hole (211) included in the guide member (210) includes an injection hole (211b) communicating with the injection pump (222) and a suction hole (211a) communicating with the suction pump (221).
[0116] In some embodiments, the injection hole (211b) and the suction hole (211a) may have the same shape and the same diameter.
[0117] The above injection holes (211b) and suction holes (211a) may be arranged in an irregular manner on the guide surface (Sg), or holes (211) performing the same function may be arranged in a dense manner.
[0118] In the case where the holes (211) performing the same function are densely packed together and distinguished, the guide surface (Sg) includes an injection part (210b) in which at least one injection hole (211b) is densely packed and a suction part (210a) in which at least one suction hole (211a) is densely packed.
[0119] According to Fig. 7, six suction holes (211a) are densely arranged in a 2X3 rectangle to form one suction portion (210a), and six injection holes (211b) are densely arranged in a 2X3 rectangle to form one injection portion (210b). The suction portion (210a) and the injection portion (210b) are alternately arranged along the length direction of the guide member (210).
[0120] According to Fig. 8, ten suction holes (211a) are aligned in a row along the direction of movement of the electrode tab (T) to form one suction portion (210a). In addition, ten injection holes (211b) are aligned in a row along the direction of movement of the electrode tab (T) to form one injection portion (210b). The suction portion (210a) and the injection portion (210b) are alternately arranged along the width direction of the guide member (210).
[0121]
[0122] Fig. 9 is a side view of a guide member (210) according to one embodiment in which the internal air movement path (212) is expressed as a hidden line.
[0123] Referring to FIG. 9, the guide member (210) includes an air passage (212) inside that is connected to the hole (211), and each hole (211) is connected to the pump unit (220) through the air passage (212).
[0124] Referring to Fig. 9, a connecting hole (216) is formed by opening on one side of the guide member (210), and each hole (211) is connected to the connecting hole (216) through an air passage (212). More specifically, the air passages (212) extending from each hole (211) are joined to connect to one connecting hole (216).
[0125] One guide member (210) includes at least two connecting holes (216). At least one connecting hole (216) is connected to a suction hole (211a) and a suction pump (221), and another connecting hole (216) is connected to a spray hole (211b) and a spray pump (222).
[0126] The above connecting hole (216) is a portion that is directly connected to a pipe (230) connected to a pump unit (220), and the connecting hole (216) and the pipe (230) can be connected and fixed using a fitting member (213) or the like as needed.
[0127] The above fitting member (213) is a general device used when connecting a pipe (230) such as a pipe or hose to another structure, and the specific characteristics of the fitting member (213) are not discussed in the present invention.
[0128] Fig. 10 is a rear perspective view of a guide member (210) according to one embodiment.
[0129]
[0130] *According to FIG. 10, a pair of fitting members (213) are coupled to the rear surface of the guide member (210). One of the two fitting members (213) is coupled to a connecting hole (216) that is connected to a suction hole (211a), and the other fitting member (213) is coupled to a connecting hole (216) that is connected to a spray hole (211b).
[0131]
[0132] Fig. 11 is a rear perspective view of a guide member (210) according to another embodiment of the present invention.
[0133] Referring to FIG. 11, the guide member (210) further includes a control valve (214) that controls the opening amount within the hole (211) to control the amount of air flowing in and out through the hole (211).
[0134] In some embodiments, the tap guide unit (200) may further include a power switch (215) for operating the pump unit (220) on the guide member (210).
[0135] According to some embodiments, a control valve (214) is provided on the side of the guide member (210). The guide member (210) to which the control valve (214) is applied may further include an opening / closing member (not shown) configured to allow for adjustment of the degree of opening / closing within the hole (211). The opening / closing member is operable in conjunction with the control valve (214) provided on the outside of the guide member (210). Therefore, the guide member (210) of the present invention can adjust the degree of opening within the hole (211) by moving the opening / closing member by manipulating the control valve (214).
[0136] In some embodiments, a power switch (215) may be provided on the side of the guide member (210). The power switch (215) is connected to a pump unit (220) connected to the guide member (210).
[0137] The power switch (215) may be provided in a button or rotary manner, and may selectively operate any one of the suction pumps (221) and the injection pumps (222) connected to the guide member (210). For example, the tap guide unit (200) of the present invention may operate only the suction pump (221) to suck in air through the guide member (210), and conversely, may operate only the injection pump (222) to spray air through the guide member (210). Alternatively, the suction pump (221) and the injection pump (222) may be selectively operated simultaneously to suck in air through the guide member (210) and simultaneously spray air.
[0138] Accordingly, in one embodiment of the present invention, the guide member (210) can operate either the injection pump (222) or the suction pump (221) by operating the power switch (215).
[0139] In another embodiment of the present invention, the guide member (210) can operate the injection pump (222) and the suction pump (221) simultaneously by operating the power switch (215).
[0140]
[0141] The air injected or sucked through the above hole (211) affects the surface of the electrode tab (T) located on the guide roll as shown in Fig. 2.
[0142] Figures 12 and 13 are schematic diagrams that simply illustrate the process of correcting the structure of an electrode tab (T) through the movement of air applied to a defective portion (F) of the electrode tab (T), respectively.
[0143] Specifically, Fig. 12 illustrates a process of correcting a portion of one electrode tab (T) that is folded downward, and Fig. 13 illustrates a process of correcting a portion of one electrode tab (T) that is raised upward.
[0144] According to Fig. 12, a portion of the electrode tab (T) folded downward is straightened by the upwardly moving air flow. Therefore, a defective electrode tab (T) such as that shown in Fig. 12 can have its degree of folding alleviated or can be flattened back to its original state through the suction force of the tab guide unit (200) provided on the upper portion of the electrode sheet (S).
[0145] According to Fig. 13, a portion of the electrode tab (T) that is folded upward is laid down by the downward-moving air flow. Therefore, a defective electrode tab (T) such as that shown in Fig. 13 can be restored to a flat surface through the spraying force of the tab guide unit (200) provided on the upper portion of the electrode sheet (S).
[0146]
[0147] The electrode transport system (1) of the present invention may include one guide roller (100) and one corresponding tab guide unit (200), or may include a plurality of guide rollers (100) respectively arranged in various zones and a plurality of tab guide units (200) corresponding to the guide rollers (100). Therefore, by arranging the tab guide unit (200) of the present invention in a zone of the guide roller (100) where defects frequently occur in the electrode tabs (T) of the electrode sheet (S) being transported, the occurrence rate of defects in the electrode tabs (T) can be reduced.
[0148]

[0170] According to Fig. 19, a plurality of holes (211) having a straight shape are formed to extend in a diagonal direction.
[0171] A hole (211) of the above form can continuously provide suction or spraying force to a relatively wide area corresponding to the shape of the defective part of the electrode tab (T).
[0172]
[0173] As described in the first to seventh embodiments, the tab guide unit (200) included in the electrode transport system (1) of the present invention can optimize the efficiency of suction and spraying by varying the shape and arrangement of the hole (211) included in the guide member (210). That is, the efficiency of the process can be improved by varying the shape and arrangement of the hole (211) so as to optimize the area where the electrode tab (T) is folded or lifted in a specific pattern.
