DEVICES AND METHODS FOR COMMUNICATION

[0001] FIELDS

[0002] Example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of communication techniques and in particular, to devices and methods for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) mobility control.BACKGROUND

[0003] The UAV has been widely used in current wireless communication and the measurement reporting for UAV has been important part of the communication system. When performing UAV measurements, both a height-dependent measurement object (MO) configuration and a height-dependent measurement report (MR) configuration may be configured for a measurement identity. Specifically, as for height-dependent MO configuration, the synchronization signal and physical broadcast channel (PBCH) block (SSB) -ToMeasure (SSB-ToMeasure) may be configured with more than one height-dependent configuration / value, such as, each height-dependent configuration / value corresponds to a specific height region. As for height-dependent MR configuration, height-dependent events will be introduced, for example, as a combination of event Ax and event Hx. Since the height-dependent MO configuration and height-dependent MR configuration are introduced separately, how to ensure the efficiency of UAV mobility measuring and reporting are desirable to be further discussed.SUMMARY

[0073] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0074] Example Environment

[0075] FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of an example communication environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication devices, including a terminal device 110 and network devices 120-1 and 120-2 and 120- 3, can communicate with each other. For purpose of discussion, the network devices 120-1 and 120-2 and 120-3 are collectively or individually referred to as network device 120, or respectively referred to as a first network device 120-1, a second network device 120-2 and a third network device 120-3.

[0076] In the example of FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may be a UE and the network device 120 may be a base station serving the UE. The serving area of the network device 120 may be called a cell.

[0077] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100. It is noted that although illustrated as a network device, the network device 120 may be another device than a network device. Although illustrated as a terminal device, the terminal device 110 may be other device than a terminal device.

[0078] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the terminal device 110 operating as a UE and the network device 120 operating as a base station. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0079] In some example embodiments, if the terminal device 110 is a terminal device and the network device 120 is a network device, a link from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the terminal device 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0080] In the example of FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may be a UAV, and the terminal device 110 may fly over time and may be served by different network devices 120 thereby. As illustrated in FIG. 1, the second network device 120-2 may be a network device served the  terminal device 110 previously, the first network device 120-1 may be a network device served the terminal device 110 currently, and the third network device 120-3 may be a network device which will serve the terminal device 110 in the future.

[0081] In FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may be configured with a height-dependent MO configuration and a height-dependent MR configuration.

[0082] Specifically, as for height-dependent MO configuration, it is supported to be configured with more than one height-dependent configuration / value, where each one height-dependent configuration / value may be configured for a specific height region.

[0083] In some embodiments, a height-based list of SSB-ToMeasure with corresponding height ranges and hysteresis in MeasObjectNR may be introduced.

[0084] In some embodiments, when the terminal device 110 moves to a new height region with a different SSB-ToMeasure value, the terminal device 110 may keep or discard the old samples.

[0085] Below illustrates an example IE of MO configuration.

[0086] As for height-dependent MO configuration, height-dependent events will be introduced, for example, as a combination of event Ax and event Hx (at least for event A4 and event H1 / H2) . The height may be defined by a height threshold (such as, H1 or H2 threshold) or a height range (such as, both H1 and H2 threshold or boundaries) .

[0087] In some embodiments, the new event type includes only introducing one height threshold H1 or H2. Further, a hysteresis for each threshold will be introduced and a single time to trigger for the event will be introduced.

[0088] Below illustrates an example IE of the height-dependent eventA4H1.

[0089] Below illustrates an example IE of the height-dependent eventA4H2.

[0090] In FIG. 1, the network device 120 may configure the terminal device 110 to trigger a flightpath update notification based on a configured delta time (when a timestamp is configured to be reported) or distance configuration.

[0091] In some embodiments, the flightpath update indication in UE assistance information (UAI) may be configurable by the network device 120. In some embodiments, the flightpath information may be forwarded from a source gNB to a target gNB during handover. Additionally, a same indication may be used for both initial and updated flightpath plan.

[0092] In some embodiments, if any waypoint / timestamp has changed more than the configured threshold (time or distance) , the terminal device 110 may trigger a flightpath update notification. Further, when both distance and time threshold are configured, the flightpath update may be triggered if either of those conditions is met.

[0093] In some embodiments, an NTZ may be defined as a geographical area where the  terminal device 110 may be not allowed to transmit for spectrum compatibility purposes in a given harmonised multi-task fully convolutional network (MFCN) band or part of it.

[0094] In some embodiments, the operational conditions to be defined and implemented at national level may provide additional measures to the technical conditions in order to protect other services.

[0095] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 operating in 703-733 MHz may be not allowed to transmit when less than 30m above ground level to avoid interference to digital terrestrial television (DTT) receivers. In some embodiments, nationally determined NTZs may be required around Radio Astronomy Service (RAS) sites operating in 1400-1427 MHz for aerial UE operating in the 703-718 MHz frequency band, as appropriate.

[0096] In some embodiments, nationally determined no-transmit zones may be required around RAS sites operating in 1660-1670 MHz for aerial UE operating in the 832-837 MHz frequency band, as appropriate.

[0097] In some embodiments, nationally determined no-transmit zones may be required around RAS sites operating in 2690-2700 MHz for aerial UE operating in the 2500-2570 MHz or 2570-2620 MHz frequency band, as appropriate. Further, in some embodiments, nationally determined no-transmit zones may be required around radars operating in 2700-2900 MHz for aerial UE operating in the 2500-2570 MHz or 2570-2620 MHz frequency band.

[0098] The communications in the communication environment 100 may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0099] Work Principle and Example Signaling for Communication

[0100] Principle and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to FIG. 2A to FIG. 12. For the purpose of discussion, FIG. 2A to FIG. 12 will be described with reference to FIG. 1.

[0101] It should be understood that although feature (s)  / operation (s) are discussed in specific example embodiments separately, unless clearly indicated to the contrary, these feature (s)  / operation (s) described in different example embodiments may be used in any suitable combination.

[0102] Further, it is to be understood that the operations at the terminal device 110, the network device 120 should be coordinated. In other words, the network device 120 and the terminal device 110 should have common understanding about configurations, parameters and so on. Such common understanding may be implemented by any suitable interactions between the network device 120 and the terminal device 110 or both the network device 120 and the terminal device 110 applying the same rule / policy. In the following, although some operations are described from a perspective of the terminal device 110, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the network device 120. Similarly, although some operations are described from a perspective of the network device 120, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the terminal device 110. Merely for brevity, some of the same or similar contents are omitted here.

[0103] Similarly, when an Xn transmission is performed, two or more network devices 120 may communities with each other. In this event, the two or more network devices 120 also should behave coordinately. In view of this, although some operations are described from a perspective of one network device 120, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the other network device (s) 120.

[0104] In the following discussion, the terminal device 110 may be described as a UAV, and an SSB may be described as an example of the measurement object.

[0105] Processes for NTZ

[0106] As discussed above, the NTZ (s) may be defined. In some embodiments, in order to ensure th terminal device 110 may respect the NTZ (s) , NTZ information may be  provided to terminal device 110 to assist flightpath scheduling and UAV mobility.

[0107] Reference is now made to FIG. 2A and FIG. 2B, which illustrate example blocks 200A and 200B of NTZ.

[0108] In some embodiments, a geographical area corresponding to an NTZ may be represented by at least one of: a reference location, a first parameter in a first dimension, a second parameter in a second dimension and / or a third parameter in a third dimension, such as, a reference location and a length, a width and a height.

[0109] In some embodiments, a geographical area corresponding to an NTZ may be represented by at least one of following:

[0110] · a reference location, such as, the Ref point as illustrated in FIG. 2A and FIG. 2B,

[0111] · a first distance parameter in longitude, such as, the geodesic distance in longitude x as illustrated in FIG. 2A,

[0112] · a second distance parameter in latitude, such as, the geodesic distance in latitude y as illustrated in FIG. 2A,

[0113] · a third distance parameter in altitude, such as, the geodesic distance in altitude z as illustrated in FIG. 2A, or

[0114] · a radius length, such as, the geodesic radius r as illustrated in FIG. 2B.

[0115] In some embodiments, the NTZ may be determined by the following parameters: the reference location, the first distance parameter in longitude, the second distance parameter in latitude and the third distance parameter in altitude.

[0116] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the NTZ may be determined by the following parameters: the reference location, the radius length and the third distance parameter in altitude.

[0117] In some embodiments, the NTZ may be defined by a 2D ground area, or a projection of the 2D ground area, which determined by the following parameters: the reference location, the first distance parameter in longitude, the second distance parameter in latitude. Alternatively, in some embodiments, a 2D ground area, or a projection of the 2D ground area may be determined by the reference location and the radius length.

[0118] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the NTZ may be determined by a  projection of the 2D ground area and a height range (determined by at least one of the upper altitude bound and lower altitude bound) .

[0119] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the NTZ may be determined by the following parameters: a reference location and a distance threshold. And at any 3D location, which the distance from the reference point is less than threshold, it is considered to be in NTZ. In some embodiments, the NTZ information may further indicate:

[0120] · whether the terminal device is allowed to camp on a frequency associated with an NTZ,

[0121] · whether the terminal device is allowed to camp on a cell at least partially overlapped with an NTZ,

[0122] · whether the terminal device is allowed to access a cell operating on a frequency associated with an NTZ,

[0123] · whether the terminal device is allowed to access a cell at least partially overlapped with an NTZ,

[0124] · a common valid duration for the at least one NTZ, or

[0125] · at least one dedicated duration for the at least one NTZ.

[0126] In some embodiments, the UAV access limitation may be configured. As one example, if parameter uavAccessAllowed is enabled, the terminal device 110 is allowed to camp on the frequency or access to the cell, while the terminal device 110 is required to respect the NTZ restrictions. Alternatively, as another example, if parameter uavAccessAllowed is not enabled, the terminal device 110 is not allowed to camp on the frequency or access to the cell.

[0127] Reference is now made to FIG. 3, which illustrates a signaling flow 300 of communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0128] In operation, as illustrated in FIG. 3, the terminal device 110 receives, NTZ information indicating at least one NTZ from a network device 120. Additionally, the NTZ information may be comprised in the system information (SI) .

[0129] In some embodiments, the NTZ information may be associated with at least one frequency information and / or cell information. Additionally, the NTZ information may be comprised in system information block 2 (SIB2) , SIB3, SIB4 or a new defined SIB. In some embodiments, the NTZ information may be updated in existing SIB. Alternatively,  the update of new SIB may not trigger SI update procedure.

[0130] Bellow illustrates an example IE for the NTZ information.

[0131] Bellow illustrates another example IE for the NTZ information.

[0132] In some embodiments, the SI may be SIB2 or SIB4, and the NTZ information may be associated with cell re-selection information.

[0133] In some embodiments, each frequency resource configured for cell re-selection may be associated with one or more NTZs, and the cell re-selection may be one of the following, an inter-frequency cell re-selection, an intra-frequency cell re-selection, an inter-radio access technology (inter-RAT) cell re-selection or an intra-radio access technology (intra-RAT) cell re-selection.

[0134] In some embodiments, the NTZ information may be associated with cell re-selection information. Additionally, the NTZ information may be comprised in SIB2 or SIB4, as illustrated in below IE intraFreqCellReselectionInfo comprised in SIB2 and InterFreqCarrierFreqInfo-v19xx comprised in SIB4, where each frequency may be associated to one or more NTZs.

[0135] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the NTZ information may be associated with at least one cell (or neighbor cell) . Additionally, in some embodiments, the SI is SIB2 or SIB3, as illustrated below IE IntraFreqNeighCellList-v19xx comprised in SIB3 and InterFreqNeighCellList-v19xx comprised in SIB4, where the NTZ information may associated with neighbor cell information.

[0136] As illustrated in FIG. 3, in some embodiments, in case that a cell is at least partially overlapped with a NTZ, a mobility-related condition of the cell may be tightened 320. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that a frequency resource is associated with at least one NTZ, degraded a frequency priority for cell reselection of the frequency resource.

[0137] As one example, the handover condition, cell / frequency re-selection condition may be tightened. More specifically, cell selection or re-selection criteria for the NTZ cell / frequency may be applied with an NTZ offset, the threshold for the NTZ cell / frequency may be enhanced, and the priority for the NTZ cell / frequency may be  degraded.

[0138] In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that a cell is at least partially overlapped with an NTZ, evaluate the cell with a cell selection or re-selection criteria associated with an NTZ offset during a cell selection or re-selection procedure.

[0139] In some embodiments, if a cell located in NTZ or a cell overlap with NTZ (that is, there is an NTZ (s) in the cell) , when evaluate the cell for cell selection or re-selection, the terminal device 110 may apply an offset when deriving Srxlev or Squal as below Equation (1) and Equation (2) , where the Srxlev or Squal is used as the cell selection criterion S. Srxlev = Qrxlevmeas– (Qrxlevmin+Qrxlevminoffset) –Pcompensation-Qoffsettemp       Equation (1) Squal = Qqualmeas– (Qqualmin+Qqualminoffset) -Qoffsettemp      Equation (2)

[0140] Physical meanings of parameters in the above Equation (1) and Equation (2) are listed in below table 1.

[0141] Table 1

[0142] In some embodiments, for a celllocated in NTZ, or a cell overlap with NTZ (that is, there is NTZ (s) in the cell) , when performing cell selection or reselection, the offset (ntzOffset) for the parameter Qoffsettemp may be applied to the cell.

[0143] In some embodiments, if a cell located in NTZ or a cell overlap with NTZ (that is, there is an NTZ (s) in the cell) , when evaluate the cell for intra-frequency or equal priority cell reselection, the terminal device 110 may apply an offset when deriving Rs or Rn as below Equation (3) and Equation (4) , where the Rs is used as the cell-ranking criterion for serving cell, Rn is used as the cell-ranking criterion for neighboring cells. Rs = Qmeas, s+Qhyst-Qoffsettemp       Equation (3) Rn = Qmeas, n -Qoffset -Qoffsettemp       Equation (4)

[0144] In some embodiments, for a cell located in NTZ, or a cell overlap with NTZ (that is, there is NTZ (s) in the cell) , When evaluated the cell for intra-frequency or equal priority cell selection, the offset (ntzOffset) for the parameter Qoffsettemp may be applied to the cell.

[0145] In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the terminal device 110 is within one of the at least one NTZ, or a cell is located in NTZ, or a cell is overlap with NTZ (there is NTZ in the cell) , or a frequency resource is associate with NTZ the terminal device 110 may disable 330 at least one of the following on those cells or frequencies:

[0146] · radio measurements,

[0147] · a cell selection,

[0148] · a cell selection evaluation,

[0149] · a cell re-selection,

[0150] · a cell re-selection evaluation, or

[0151] · access stratum (AS) processes or non-AS (NAS) processes.

[0152] In some embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the terminal device 110 is within one of the at least one NTZ, or a cell is located in NTZ, or a cell is overlap with NTZ (there is NTZ in the cell) , or a frequency resource is associate with NTZ, the AS will inform the NAS.

[0153] In some embodiments, upon performing at least one of the above disabling operation, the AS will inform the NAS.

[0154] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the terminal device 110 is within one of the at least one NTZ, or a cell is located in NTZ, or a cell is overlap with NTZ (there is NTZ in the cell) , or a frequency resource is associate  with NTZ, based on the NTZ information (such as, the NTZ information associated with cell re-selection information) .

[0155] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may provide information on geographical area (s) corresponding to the NTZ (s) and the geographical area corresponding to the coverage of cell (s) . Based on such information, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the terminal device 110 is within one of the at least one NTZ, or a cell is located in NTZ, or a cell is overlap with NTZ (there is NTZ in the cell) , or a frequency resource is associate with NTZ.

[0156] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the terminal device 110 is within one of the at least one NTZ, or a cell is located in NTZ, or a cell is overlap with NTZ (there is NTZ in the cell) , or a frequency resource is associate with NTZ, based on its location and the geographical area (s) corresponding to the NTZ (s) .

[0157] It should be noted that in the other embodiments, any other suitable manners also may be used for determining whether the terminal device 110 is within one of the at least one NTZ, or a cell is located in NTZ, or a cell is overlap with NTZ (there is NTZ in the cell) , or a frequency resource is associate with NTZ. In present discourse is not limited in this regard.

[0158] In this way, for cell located in NTZ, which UAV is allowed to access the cell but there are still some transmitting restrictions. In other words, for a cell / frequency which is located in NTZ / overlap with NTZ (that is, there is an NTZ (s) in the cell / frequency) , the probability of selecting the cell as a target cell during cell selection and re-selection is lower.

[0159] Processes for flightpath information

[0160] In some cases, the flightpath information may include waypoints crossing multiple cells. Further, the flightpath information may be provided from source gNB (such as, the second network device 120-2 in FIG. 1) to target gNB (such as, the first network device 120-1 in FIG. 1) during handover procedure. In other words, it may enable that the target cells along the flightpath know the flightpath information of the terminal device 110 via the Xn transmission.

[0161] As one example, when the terminal device 110 enters into the target gNB, as no  flightpath information has been transmitted to the target gNB, the terminal device 110 will transmit an availability notification to the target gNB, where the target gNB may request flightpath information from the terminal device 110 base on the availability notification. However, target gNB cannot know whether the flightpath information indicated by the availability notification is the same flightpath information from the source gNB or not. Only after receiving the flightpath information from the terminal device 110, the target gNB can be aware of the fact that the flightpath information received from the source gNB and the terminal device 110 is the same.

[0162] According to the above example, it can be seen that, the initial availability notification (and / or the target gNB requests the flightpath information from the terminal device 110) when entering into a new cell may be not necessary, because this flightpath information may be the same as the one has been got from source gNB via Xn transmission.

[0163] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the above unnecessary transmission of flightpath information may be avoided.

[0164] Reference is now made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a signaling flow 400 of communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0165] In the terminal device 110 moves 440 into a first cell (i.e., also referred to as a target cell) provided by a first network device 120-1.

[0166] In some embodiment, if there is first flightpath information available, the terminal device 110 transmits 460-2 the first flightpath information to the first network device 120-1 in accordance with a determination that the first flightpath information has not been transmitted and the first network device 120-1 has not received the first flightpath information via a Xn transmission.

[0167] Alternatibely, in some embodiment, if there is first flightpath information available, the terminal device 110 prevents 460-1 an initial reporting of the flightpath information to the first network device 120-1, wherein the first flightpath information has been transmitted 430 to a second network device 120-2 served the terminal device 110 previously.

[0168] In some embodiments, the first flightpath information may be associated with a plurality of cells comprising the first cell and the second cell. In some cases, the second cell may be a neighbour cell of the first cell. In some other cases, the second cell may be  not a neighbour cell of the first cell.

[0169] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive 450-1 a third indication from the first network device 120, where the third indication indicates that the first network device 120-1 has received the first flightpath information via the Xn transmission. As one example, the source gNB may transmit the first flightpath information to the target gNB, then the target gNB may indicate UE via RRCReconfiguration message (i.e., the third indication) .

[0170] As another example, the source gNB may transmit an indication to the target gNB via such as handover Request, and with the indication, the flightpath information update procedure in the target cell may be performed based on the flightpath information received from the source gNB. Further, the source gNB also transmits a further indication to the terminal device 110, via such as RRCReconfiguration message. With the further indication, the terminal device 110 will perform the flightpath information update procedure based on the last transmitted flightpath information.

[0171] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may further receive 450-2, from the first network device 120, configuration indicating at least one reporting event for triggering a transmission of a flightpath update notification; and then the terminal devoice 110 may evaluate whether a reporting event of at least one reporting event by using the first flightpath information as reference flightpath information, wherein the first flightpath information is the last transmitted flightpath information.

[0172] Some example implements about the above processes will be discussed as below. In some embodiments, if flightpath information has been forwarded from the source gNB to the target gNB during handover, the flightpath update procedure may be performed based on the latest reported flightpath.

[0173] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine whether to provide flightpath update notification based on latest reported flightpath (in source gNB or other previously-served gNB) and the triggering conditions may be configured by target gNB.

[0174] As one example, if the terminal device 110 has flight path information available, the terminal device 110 may initiate transmission of the UEAssistanceInformation message to provide indication on availability of flight path information,

[0176] · if flightPathUpdateDistanceThr is configured and for at least one waypoint previously provided to the network, the 3D distance between the previously provided location and the new location is more than or equal to the distance threshold configured by flightPathUpdateDistanceThr; or

[0178] In some embodiments, if neither flightPathUpdateDistanceThr nor flightPathUpdateTimeThr is configured, it is up to UE implementation whether to initiate transmission of the UEAssistanceInformation message when updated flightpath information is available.

[0179] In some embodiments, if FlightPathFromXn is indicated, the flightPathUpdateDistanceThr and flightPathUpdateTimeThr are apply based on the latest reported flightpath which may be reported not in the current cell, the flightPathUpdateDistanceThr and flightPathUpdateTimeThr may be apply based on the latest reported flightpath which may be reported in the last gNB.

[0180] In this way, the UAV UE does not need to always provide availability of initial flightpath during handover procedure.

[0181] In some embodiments, whether the above processes may be performed may be configured / enabled by the network device 120. As illustrated in FIG. 4, in some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive 410 a fifth indication enabling the terminal device 110 to evaluate the at least one reporting event based on the last transmitted flightpath information which is transmitted to the second network device 120-2 served the terminal device 110 previously.

[0182] As one example, the fifth indication may be indicated in the flightpath configurations (such as, UAV-Config in the RRCReconfiguration) .

[0183] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may configure a list of cells (i.e.,  along the flightpath) . In this event, for cells included in the list, the terminal device 110 may provide the flightpath update notification based on the latest reported flightpath.

[0184] In this way, the network device 120 may decide whether to retrieve the flightpath according to the changed flightpath information and the flightpath information forwarded by source gNB (i.e., the second network device 120-2) , which makes the availability notification of initial flightpath more efficient.

[0185] Reference is now made to FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B, which illustrate example flightpaths 500A and 500B.

[0186] In FIG. 5A, in case that traditional solution is performed. The terminal device 110 provides an initial flightpath information #1 in the cell #1. When moving into the cell #2, the terminal device 110 provides an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #2, then cell #2 may further retrieve flightpath from the terminal device 110 but the cell #2 may already have obtained the same flightpath information #1 via the Xn message. Then, the terminal device 110 moves into the cell #3, the terminal device 110 provides an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #3, then cell #3 may further retrieve flightpath from the terminal device 110 but the cell #3 may already have obtained the same flightpath information #1 via the Xn message.

[0187] In FIG. 5A, according to the present disclosure, the terminal device 110 provides an initial flightpath information #1 in the cell #1. When moving into the cell #2, as the cell #2 has obtained the flightpath information #1 via the Xn message (which may be informed to the terminal device 110) , the terminal device 110 may prevent an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #2. Then, the terminal device 110 moves into the cell #3, as the cell #3 has obtained the flightpath information #1 via the Xn message (which may be informed to the terminal device 110) , the terminal device 110 may prevent an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #3.

[0188] In FIG. 5B, in case that traditional solution is performed. The terminal device 110 performs an initial flightpath information #1 in the cell #1. When moving into the cell #2, the terminal device 110 provides an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #2, , then cell #2 may further retrieve flightpath from the terminal device 110, but the cell #2 may already have obtained the same flightpath information #1 via the Xn message. Still in cell #2, the flightpath information #1 has been updated to flightpath information #2, the terminal device 110 notified cell #2 and transmits the flightpath information #2 to  cell #2. Then, the terminal device 110 moves into the cell #4, the terminal device 110 performs an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #4, then cell #4 may further retrieve flightpath from the terminal device 110 but the cell #4 may already have obtained the same flightpath information #2 via the Xn message.

[0189] In FIG. 5B, according to the present disclosure, the terminal device 110 performs an initial flightpath information #1 in the cell #1. When moving into the cell #2, as the cell #2 has obtained the flightpath information #1 via the Xn message (which may be informed to the terminal device 110) , the terminal device 110 may prevent an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #2. Still in cell #2, the flightpath information #1 has been updated to flightpath information #2, the terminal device 110 notified cell #2 and transmits the flightpath information #2 to cell #2. Then, the terminal device 110 moves into the cell #4, as the cell #4 has obtained the flightpath information #2 via the Xn message (which may be informed to the terminal device 110) , the terminal device 110 may prevent an initial flightpath available notification to the cell #4. In some embodiments, the network device 120 may provide an indication. In one example, the indication indicates that whether the UE should send the flightpath update notification if timestamp of one waypoint has changed while the gNB does not configure the delta time for this waypoint.

[0190] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may provide an indication. In one example, the indication indicates that whether UE should send the flightpath update notification if location of one waypoint has changed while the gNB does not configure the delta distance for this waypoint.

[0191] In some embodiments, as illustrated in FIG. 4, the terminal device 110 may receive 420 a fourth indication indicating the terminal device 110 is allowed to prevent transmitting the flightpath update notification upon detecting the reporting event, and then upon detecting the reporting event, the terminal device 110 may prevent transmitting the flightpath update notification based on the fourth indication.

[0192] In some embodiments, if one waypoint (either by delta time / delta distance) , or the triggering condition of transmitting flightpath update notification is fulfilled, whether the terminal device 110 may select not to send the flightpath update notification (avoid / omitted sending notification) is controlled by the network device 120. Additionally, there may be separate indications for time / distance trigger.

[0193] In this way, whether the terminal device 110 is allowed to send update notification when no trigger condition and / or whether the terminal device 110 is allowed to omit update notification may be controlled by the network device 120.

[0194] Processes for MO and MR Configurations

[0195] In traditional solutions, the height-dependent MO configuration and the height-dependent MR configuration are configured independently, which causes that unnecessary measurements are performed and / or the UE has to switch along different MO sets frequently.

[0196] Reference is now made to FIG. 6, which illustrates a signaling flow 600 of communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0197] In operation, the terminal device 110 receives 610, from a network device 120, configuration information. The configuration information indicates a height-dependent measurement object configuration indicating at least one measurement object set to be measured by the terminal device 110, the at least one measurement object set corresponding to at least one first height range; and a height-dependent measurement report configuration indicating a trigger event corresponding to a second height range identified by a threshold height. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the at least one first height range may be within the second height range.

[0198] Reference is now made to FIG. 7A, which illustrates an example height-dependent configuration 700A according to the traditional solution. In FIG. 7A, in case of H1 threshold and the MO configurations are configured, measurements performed below than H1 (i.e., invalid range #1) are actually unnecessary. In summary, the height ranges for height-dependent MO and MR are not aligned, which causes there is SSB-ToMeasure (i.e., SSB set 1 in FIG. 7A) for the height range outside the height range indicated by H1 threshold. However, the evaluation of SSB set 1 will not trigger the event anyway, so it should be considered as an invalid configuration. Similarly, in FIG. 7A, in case of H2 threshold the MO configurations are configured, measurements performed higher than H2 (i.e., invalid range #2) are actually unnecessary.

[0199] Reference is now made to FIG. 7B, which illustrates an example height-dependent configuration 700B according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0200] As illustrated in FIG. 7B, in case that the threshold height is a first threshold height (i.e., H1) and the second height range is a range higher than a first threshold height, the lowest height boundary of the at least one first height range may be configured to be equal to or higher than the first threshold height, or the first threshold height may be configured to be equal to or lower than the lowest height boundary of the at least one first height range.

[0201] As illustrated in FIG. 7B, in case that the threshold height is a second threshold height (i.e., H2) and the second height range is a range lower than a second threshold height, the highest height boundary of the at least one first height range may be configured to be equal to or lower than the second threshold height, or the second threshold height may be configured to be equal to or higher than the highest height boundary of the at least one first height range.

[0202] Some specific implements are discussed as below. In some embodiments, configuration restrictions may be defined. As one example, in case that the height range configured for the height-dependent event includes H1 threshold (which indicate UAV height is higher than threshold) , the lowest lower bound in the height-based list for SSB-ToMeasure should be equal to or larger (>=) than the H1 threshold. As another example, in case that the height range configured for the height-dependent event includes H2 threshold (which indicate UAV height is lower than threshold) , the highest upper bound in the height-based list for SSB-ToMeasure should be equal to or smaller (<=) than the H2 threshold.

[0203] As a further example, for the MO and MR configurations associated with a same measurements event ID, the height ranges configured for SSB-ToMeasure should be within the height range configured for the joint event. For example, for one event identity, network configuration should guarantee that height ranges configured for SSB-ToMeasure to be within the height range configured for the joint event (i.e., indicated by H1 / H2 threshold) . For another example, for one eventId, UAV UE do not expect a configuration of height ranges for SSB-ToMeasure to be outside the height range configured for the joint event (i.e., indicated by H1 / H2 threshold) .

[0204] In this way, for the measurement object associate with the report configuration of joint event, such restriction can make the configuration more effectively.

[0205] Reference is now made to FIG. 8, which illustrate example height-dependent  configurations 800.

[0206] In FIG. 8, the height-dependent eventAx and SSB-ToMeasure are configured simultaneously, the SSB set which triggers measurement report and the SSB set being included in the measurement report are various by flying height. As illustrated in FIG. 8, the terminal device 110 has to frequently switch / reset MO set and upon each switching / resetting the MO set, the measurement results are discarded, which is undesirable.

[0207] Reference is now made to FIG. 9, which illustrates a signaling flow 900 of communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0208] In operation, the terminal device 110 receives 910 configuration information from a network device 120, where the configuration information indicating:

[0209] · a height-dependent measurement object configuration indicating a measurement object set to be measured by the terminal device 110, the measurement object set corresponding to a first height range, the first height range being identified by at least one of the following:

[0210] a first set of height-boundary parameters, or

[0211] a first identity of height range;

[0212] · a height-dependent measurement report configuration indicating a trigger event corresponding to a second height range, the second height range being identified by at least one of the following:

[0213] a second set of height-boundary parameters, or

[0214] a second identity of height range.

[0215] As for the terminal device 110, the terminal device 110 expects 920 (the network device 120 is expected 930) one of the following:

[0216] · a first value set of the first set of height-boundary parameters and a second value set of the second set of height-boundary parameters being the same as each other,

[0217] · the first identity of height range and the second identity of height range being the same as each other,

[0218] · no measurement object reset being needed within the second height range of during an  evaluating of the trigger event,

[0219] · one of the height-dependent measurement object configuration and the height-dependent measurement report configuration being determined based on the other one of the height-dependent measurement object configuration and the height-dependent measurement report configuration, such that no measurement object reset is needed within the second height range,

[0220] · the height-dependent measurement object configuration and the height-dependent measurement report configuration being not associated with a same measurement identity.

[0221] Some specific implements are discussed as below. In some embodiments, the configured height range for SSB-ToMeasure configurations and configured height range for height-dependent event should be aligned with each other. For example, the height range for the SSB-ToMeasure may be determined by a set of range parameters (the higher bound, lower bound and hysteresis) indicated in heightRangeList-r18, which is associated with the same heightRangeIndex indicated in the SSB-ToMeasureHeightBased.

[0222] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the height range for the height-dependent event may be determined by a set of range parameters (the higher bound, lower bound and hysteresis) indicated in heightRangeList-r18, which associated with the same heightRangeIndex indicated in height-dependent event.

[0223] Below is one example IE for MO.

[0224] Below is one example IE for MR.

[0225] In the above IEs, parameter heightHyst maybe two, where each for higher bound and lower bound, and heightRangeIndex in height-dependent MR configurations may be more than one.

[0226] In some embodiments, the height range for ssb-ToMeasure configured by the network device 120 should ensure that no ssb-ToMeasure reset (MO reset) is needed to be done at the configured height range for one set of MR configurations.

[0227] In some embodiments, a height range configured the network device 120 height-dependent event should ensure that no ssb-ToMeasure reset is needed to be done at the configured height range (different ssb-ToMeasure may be configured for different height ranges) .

[0228] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 does not expect to change SSB-ToMeasure configurations or perform SSB-ToMeasure reset at a configured height range for one height-dependent event configurations.

[0229] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 does not expect to change SSB-ToMeasure configurations or perform SSB-ToMeasure reset when evaluating a configured height-dependent event.

[0230] The network does not configure both height-dependent ssb-ToMeasure and height-dependent event for one measurement ID. The terminal device 110 does not expect both height-dependent ssb-ToMeasure and height-dependent event to be configured for one measurement ID.

[0231] In this way, unreasonable frequently MO reset and measurement results discard may be avoided.

[0232] Processes for Measurement Report

[0233] According to the MO configuration, the terminal device 110 needs to do SSB reset when entering different height ranges, or need to do SSB reset when evaluating a configured measurement event. Thus, within different height ranges, the configured measurement event may be triggered by evaluating different SSB sets, which is unaware by network device 120. In legacy solution, it is expected that if detailed location information that has not been reported is available, the terminal device 110 will report the location information to the network device. However, this location information may be not associated to the same set of SSB that trigger the report.

[0234] According to the present disclosure, together with the measurement results, the triggering range or the triggering SSB set may be indicated.

[0235] In this way, the network device 120 may know the SSB set which triggers the measurement report.

[0236] Reference is now made to FIG. 10, which illustrate example height-dependent configurations 1000.

[0237] In operation, terminal device 110 receives 1010, from a network device 120, configuration information indicating a height-dependent measurement object configuration indicating a measurement object set to be measured by the terminal device 110, the measurement object set corresponding to a first height range.

[0238] Then, in case that the terminal device 110 is within the first height range, terminal device 110 performs 1020 measurements based at least in part on the configuration information.

[0239] Next, the terminal device 110 transmit 1030 the network device 120, a measurement report comprising trigger information indicating a location range or a measurement object set within which an event for transmitting the measurement report is detected, as illustrated in FIG. 12, which illustrates an example height-dependent configuration 1200.

[0240] In other words, the terminal device 110 performs measurements on at least one measurement object (i.e., the SSB set, which comprising at least one measurement object / SSB) . Upon triggering of the measurement reporting, the terminal device 110 may comprise trigger information in the measurement report indicating a location range or a measurement object set within which an event for transmitting the measurement report is detected.

[0241] In some embodiments, the trigger information comprises at least one of the following: an identity of the measurement object set, or an identity of the first height range.

[0242] In some embodiment, transmitting of the trigger information may be performed conditionally. As illustrated in FIG. 10, the terminal device 110 may receive 1005 a second indication enabling the terminal device 110 to transmit the trigger information.

[0243] Some specific implements are discussed as below.

[0244] In some embodiments, when different SSB sets are configured for different height ranges, the terminal device 110 may indicate the triggering SSB set or the height range (which associated with the triggering SSB set) in the measurement report.

[0245] In some embodiments, if the includeTriggeingInfo is configured in the corresponding reportConfig for this measId and trigger information at which the measurement reporting is triggered, is available, set the content of the locationInfo as follows: set the triggeringRange to include the height range or triggering SSB set (i.e., the index of the height range, or the index of the triggering SSB set) .

[0246] In this way, the network device 120 may know the SSB set which triggers the measurement report, and / or the height range within which the measurement report is triggered.
