Abstract
Description
Disposable Laminated Bed Sheets
[0001] The present invention relates to a disposable laminate bed sheet.
[0002] As the number of people requiring care explodes around the world, particularly in Asia, including Japan, the condition of those in need of care is also becoming increasingly severe. Therefore, in order to appropriately address the worsening condition of those in need of care, further improvements in care and nursing care are required, and various measures have been proposed. However, measures aimed at the workers who provide care for those in need of care, who are the core of implementing these measures, have been delayed, and the shortage of human resources in particular has not improved, and remains extremely serious. The workload of care and nursing facilities has been increasing year by year, and it can be said that chronic collapse of the facilities has already begun, calling for the immediate formulation and implementation of improvement measures.
[0003] One of the most time-consuming tasks in nursing and care settings is changing bedsheets for severely ill or bedridden patients. For example, in hospital wards with many seriously ill or bedridden patients, frequent cleaning and changing of sheets to treat urine and feces leaks and bed-making to prevent bedsores must be constantly considered. However, these tasks are tedious and hard work, especially during night shifts. This places a heavy physical strain on nursing and care workers, and we often hear of cases where these workers become mentally exhausted.
[0004] Additionally, in nursing and care settings, there is a demand for safe care and nursing for those in need of serious care or who are bedridden. The process of frequently changing bedsheets and making beds to prevent bedsores is becoming more complex, time-consuming, and difficult. Furthermore, when an emerging infectious disease becomes prevalent, there is a strong demand for meticulous infection prevention measures around beds and their adherence. This further complicates and exacerbates the current situation of increasing workloads in nursing and care settings. This, in turn, places even greater strain on the physical health of those working in these settings.
[0005] Therefore, waterproof sheets with a multi-layer structure that combines the functions of both a water-absorbing layer and a waterproof layer have been proposed (see Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2). Also, sheets with a multi-layer structure that includes a waterproof layer, an inner layer with a non-slip property, and an outer layer to prevent the sheet from slipping have been proposed (see Patent Document 3). There has also been a proposal to make disposable sheets long so that they can be replaced (see Patent Document 4).

[0007] The sheets proposed in Patent Documents 1 and 2 are useful for preventing mattress contamination. However, when considering the usage procedure from the perspective of infection prevention, the sheets must be promptly replaced with new ones whenever urine or feces leak or contamination leading to infection occurs, which does not contribute significantly to reducing the workload in caregiving and nursing facilities. Furthermore, the cost reduction effect is also limited. Furthermore, a large number of items are required for sheet changes, which requires a considerable amount of time for advance preparation, and the sheet change itself requires a large number of time and workers. Therefore, the sheets proposed in these patent documents are difficult to adopt in caregiving facilities for people requiring care, where numerous tasks must be performed within a given time frame.
[0008] The sheet proposed in Patent Document 3 has an anti-slip inner layer to prevent the sheet from slipping, but its special structure makes it expensive. Furthermore, the sheet is prone to contamination, making it difficult for care recipients who need to keep their care costs down. The need to quickly replace the sheet with a new one every time contamination occurs is a problem similar to that of the sheets proposed in Patent Documents 1 and 2.
[0009] Furthermore, although the sheets proposed in Patent Document 4 can be quickly replaced if soiling occurs, they require dedicated equipment and space for installation, making them less versatile. Furthermore, the need to change the sheets every time soiling occurs is similar to the problems proposed in Patent Documents 1 and 2. Furthermore, even if soiling occurs at the bedside, it is not possible to change the sheets, so further improvements are needed.
[0010] Furthermore, the sheets proposed in the above Patent Documents 1, 2, and 4 tend to wrinkle easily when the care recipient repeatedly turns over or gets up and down in bed, which causes pressure on the skin and makes it easy for the care recipient to develop "bedsores," which should be strictly avoided. Therefore, improvements are needed from the perspective of preventing bedsores.
[0011] Therefore, the problem that the present invention aims to solve is to provide a new bed sheet that requires fewer preparation items for installing and changing the sheets, takes less time to install and change the sheets, and is low-cost and highly economical.
[0012] The problem that the present invention aims to solve is to provide a new bed sheet that shortens unnecessary work flow such as travel back and forth to the equipment storage room for installing and changing the sheets, simplifies and standardizes work procedures, and makes it easy to formulate standard work procedures.
[0013] Furthermore, the problem that the present invention aims to solve is to provide a new bed sheet that is effective in preventing bedsores, as it is less likely to wrinkle, which causes pressure on the skin and leads to bedsores, even when the bed is turned over or raised and lowered, the mattress is bent, and the air mattress is compressed and decompressed repeatedly, and that does not interfere with the inherent anti-bedsore effect of the bed, mattress, or air mattress that uses the sheet for a person requiring care.
[0014] Therefore, the inventors have repeatedly tried and tested various methods to solve the above problems and have completed a new disposable laminated bed sheet that contributes to the bed sheet changing work for severely dependent people and bedridden people and to infection control measures.
[0015] The first aspect of the present invention for solving the above problems is a disposable laminate bed sheet comprising a first sheet having a surface layer made of a water-absorbent material and a back layer made of a waterproof material integrated together, and a plurality of second sheets smaller than the first sheet material, each of which has a surface layer made of a water-absorbent material and a back layer made of a waterproof material integrated together, stacked on the surface layer of the first sheet, the second sheets being secured to each other by first fastening means along the long and short sides of the periphery of the second sheet, and the second sheets being secured to each other by second fastening means crossing the long sides at a position inside the long sides of the first fastening means, and having perforations running vertically along the short sides at a position inside the short sides of the first fastening means. The widths of the perforations are 1.5 to 50 mm, and the widths between the perforations are 0.5 to 50 mm, and the disposable laminate bed sheet can be provided with these widths adjusted to meet standards for safety and stability in the environment in which it is used.
[0016] A second aspect of the present invention for solving the above problem is the disposable laminated bed sheet according to the first aspect of the present invention, wherein the first fastening means and / or the second fastening means are sewn and / or adhesive.
[0017] The third aspect of the present invention for solving the above problems is the disposable laminated bed sheet according to the first aspect of the present invention, wherein the back layer of the first sheet and / or the second sheet is made of a moisture-permeable waterproof material.
[0018] Another aspect of the present invention for solving the above problems is the disposable laminated bed sheet according to the first aspect of the present invention, wherein the surface layer is made of a nonwoven fabric layer selected from spunlace nonwoven fabric, needle-punched nonwoven fabric, spunbond nonwoven fabric, meltblown nonwoven fabric, etc.
[0019] Another aspect of the present invention for solving the above problems is the disposable laminated bed sheet according to the first aspect of the present invention, wherein the backing layer is selected from microporous films such as microporous polyolefin, polyurethane, and polytetrafluoroethylene.
[0020] The fourth means of the present invention for solving the above problem is a disposable laminated bed sheet as described in the first means of the present invention, in which the end of the short side portion of the first sheet is folded toward the back side, and the back layers are fixed to each other by a third fixing means at a position inside the long side portion of the first sheet at the folded portion, and a bag-like bed mat insertion fixing portion is formed.
[0021] A fifth aspect of the present invention for solving the above problems is the disposable laminated bed sheet according to the fourth aspect of the present invention, wherein the fastening means is sewing, adhesion and / or fusion bonding.
[0022] The sixth aspect of the present invention for solving the above-mentioned problems is a disposable layered bed sheet according to the first aspect of the present invention, in which the end of the short side portion of the first sheet is folded toward the surface, and the surface layers are fixed to each other by a third fixing means at a position inside the long side portion of the first sheet at the folded portion, and a bag-shaped insert fixing portion is formed.
[0023] A seventh aspect of the present invention for solving the above problems is the disposable laminated bed sheet according to the sixth aspect of the present invention, wherein the fastening means is sewing and / or adhesive.
[0024] The eighth means of the present invention for solving the above-mentioned problems is a disposable layered bed sheet in which one or more second sheets located inside the second fixing means in the disposable layered bed sheet described in the first to seventh means of the present invention are peeled off or cut from the upper layer, so that the remaining part on the inside of the long side forms an erect wall, and one or more second sheets that have not been peeled off or cut are further provided below that.
[0025] The disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention is installed by placing a second sheet, which is smaller than the first sheet material and is stacked multiple times on the surface layer of the first sheet, so that it fits exactly on the bed, and then fixing the outer periphery of the first sheet that is sticking out from the bed by wrapping it around the mattress. When placing it on the bed, the position of the second sheet, particularly the first fixing means and second fixing means provided on the outer periphery of the second sheet, is used as a guide, thereby achieving the excellent effect of making it possible to quickly and easily place the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention.
[0026] Furthermore, with normal sheets, when the head of the bed is raised, the patient's body may slide down along with the sheets, causing the patient's posture to become distorted.
[0027] On the other hand, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, which is equipped with a bag-shaped insert fastening part, fastens the sheet to the head of the mattress by the fastening part, so that when the head of the bed is raised to perform treatment, nursing or care work, the sheet is suspended by the bag-shaped insert fastening part and is kept in the desired position, resulting in the excellent effect of maintaining the patient's posture in a good condition.
[0028] The fixing process itself is an extremely simple process, in which the head portion of the mattress is inserted into the bag-shaped insert fixing portion of the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, or after placing the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention on the bed, the bag-shaped insert fixing portion is turned inside out and inserted so as to cover the head portion of the mattress, and the remaining outer periphery of the first sheet is wrapped around the mattress and fixed to the bed.
[0029] Furthermore, in the disposable layered bed sheet of the present invention, the first and / or second fastening means can be made of colored sewing thread, adhesive, etc. Colored fastening means make it easier to grasp the position, making it easier to correct the tilt when setting the disposable layered bed sheet. Also, they function as a clearer guide for grasping the position of the edge of the second sheet, improving the accuracy of the sheet changing operation.
[0030] Conventional sheets use a special fastening method that requires confirmation of special work procedures before use, making it difficult to incorporate sheet changing procedures into standard work procedures for treatment, nursing, and care, as special instructions on how to fasten the sheets are required during the handover of work between doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
[0031] On the other hand, in the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, the first sheet is made sufficiently larger than the second sheet to increase the area of the sheet that is wrapped around the mattress, thereby achieving the excellent effect of firmly securing the sheet to the bed. When it becomes necessary to quickly remove the sheet from the mattress for emergency treatment, all that is required is to simply pull out the part of the first sheet that is wrapped around the mattress, which is an easy operation even for first-time users and does not interfere with normal treatment, nursing, or care activities.
[0032] Unlike the present invention, sheets constructed such that the stacked sheets are simply secured to each other by first securing means along the long and short edges of the outer periphery of the second sheet, leaving the outer periphery of the second sheet. However, because this remaining portion is held only by the first securing means, it can be easily torn off with little force, leaving thin string-like fragments, or, if only a portion is torn off, leaving thin string-like loops. As a result, there is a risk that a patient lying on the sheet may unconsciously use the thin string-like fragments or loops of thin string-like fragments to injure themselves or otherwise incur an unexpected injury. The use of such a structure poses a major problem in medical, nursing, and care settings where safety is a top priority.
[0033] On the other hand, in the disposable laminated bed sheets of the present invention, the second sheets are fastened to each other by second fastening means that cross the long sides at positions inside the long sides of the first fastening means, and the stacked sheets are further fastened to each other by the first fastening means at positions along the long and short sides of the outer periphery of the second sheets. Therefore, even when a sheet change is performed by peeling off the second sheet that is inside the second fastening means, the outer periphery of the second sheet that remains after peeling off remains fastened by the double fastening means. Therefore, even if a patient lying on the sheet or a person in charge of treatment, nursing, or care touches the outer periphery of the second sheet that is fastened only by the first fastening means, the remaining portion will not peel off, and thin string-like sheet fragments or loops of thin string-like sheet fragments will not form. In this way, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention has the excellent effect of eliminating the risk of self-harm or unexpected injury, as it does not produce thin string-like sheet fragments or loops of thin string sheet fragments.
[0034] Additionally, when the sheet change involves peeling off the second sheet inside the second fastening means, the remaining portion of the sheet, particularly at the cut surfaces of the two long sides, can form a long wall that stops liquids. When this wall is formed, even if a patient experiences incontinence, for example, and the amount of urine released is so large that it cannot be absorbed by the sheet after peeling, the remaining urine can be trapped inside the wall and prevented from leaking outside the sheet. Even with long-term use, the wall height created by the remaining portion of the sheet increases with repeated peeling off of the second sheet inside the second fastening means, further enhancing the effectiveness of preventing leakage. For use by individuals with concerns about leakage or incontinence, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention can be provided in a state in which one second sheet inside the second fastening means has been peeled off in advance to form a wall, thereby enabling the disposable laminated bed sheet to more effectively absorb liquid components and maintain a hygienic environment from the very start of use.
[0035] Furthermore, with multi-layer sheets that do not have the short sides sewn together, when the bed is raised, the sheets slide against each other, causing the sheets to shift. As a result, the patient's posture and position can change significantly, causing the patient's buttocks to slip and shift, creating the problem of the patient's posture and position, which should be stable, becoming unstable.
[0036] On the other hand, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention has the short inner edge fixed with a perforation, which prevents the multiple layers of sheets from slipping when the bed is raised, preventing the patient's buttocks from slipping. This also has the advantage of ensuring safety by keeping the patient's posture stable when eating or taking medicine, preventing pressure on the esophagus and causing swallowing disorders.
[0037] Furthermore, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention has a perforation running vertically along the short side at a position inside the short side of the first fastening means. By applying force to both sides of the perforation with their hands, a caregiver can easily peel off the top sheet one by one from the perforation, making sheet changing extremely easy. In particular, the waterproof backing layer is made of a material that is strong enough to tear in one direction but not in the perpendicular direction to prevent accidental tearing due to the patient's body pressure. Furthermore, by arranging the sheet material so that the tearable direction is the long side and the more difficult to tear direction is the short side, and by arranging the perforation in the more difficult to tear direction, the sheet removal process can be easily carried out. Then, by peeling off only the contaminated surface, the sheet can be replaced with a clean, absorbent surface layer. Furthermore, compared to conventional bed sheets, the time required for setting and changing the sheets is shorter, making them cost-effective and highly economical.
[0038] In addition, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention has perforations near the top or bottom of the bed, which reduces the risk of patients or those in charge of treatment or care accidentally touching the sheets. Even if a patient lying on their back touches the perforations, it is difficult for them to firmly grasp the perforations or the surrounding area and apply force, which provides the excellent effect of eliminating the risk of the laminated sheets being accidentally torn off.
[0039] Conventional sheets have large slits with widths in centimeters greater than the thickness of a finger or openings where the stacked sheets are not secured, which can allow a patient's fingers or hands to get into the slits or openings while lying in bed, posing a risk of self-harm or unexpected injury. Furthermore, instruments, pens, and even dust used during treatment, nursing, and care work can easily get into the slits or openings. This not only creates hygiene issues, but also increases the risk of injury.
[0040] On the other hand, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention may be provided with perforations, the length of which, i.e., the width of the hole, may be smaller than the thickness of a finger. In this way, there is no risk of the fingers of a patient lying in bed getting caught in the holes made by the perforations of the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, or of instruments, pens, or dust used during treatment, nursing, or care work getting caught in the holes, making it possible to provide a bed sheet that is safer and does not cause any hygiene problems.
[0041] The length of the perforations on the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention can also be made slightly longer than the thickness of a finger, which makes it easier to peel off the second sheet inside the second fastening means, within the limits permitted by safety and stability standards in the usage environment.
[0042] The disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention is changed by first positioning the patient in a semi-recumbent position, then peeling off and rolling up half of the topmost second sheet to be changed, then reversing the patient's position by turning the patient in the semi-recumbent position, and then peeling off and rolling up the remaining portion to replace it. As a result, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention allows for sheet changing even when the patient is lying down, and by rolling up the sheet with the waterproof backing layer facing outward, it is possible to prevent contamination during sheet changing. Furthermore, because the sheet material is soft and thin, it is easy for a semi-recumbent patient to climb over the sheet that is being rolled up when changing position, making it easy to control the patient's position, thereby significantly reducing the burden on medical, nursing, and caregiver personnel.
[0043] In medical, nursing, and care settings, when bed mattresses or air mattresses are covered with conventional sheets, a waterproof rubber sheet is often placed between the sheet and the bed mattress or air mattress to prevent the mat from becoming contaminated. However, because rubber sheets are harder than sheets, placing them between the mattress and air mattress reduces the body pressure distribution effect of the bed mattress or air mattress, and often causes pressure on the patient's skin, leading to bed sores.
[0044] On the other hand, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention securely fastens the stacked sheets to the bed using the first and second fastening means without slipping. Furthermore, because it is made solely of sheet material, it is thin and soft. While noise from sheets can be uncomfortable, the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention generates very little noise, maintaining a quiet environment even late at night. Furthermore, because the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention is made of a waterproof material, there is no need to insert a waterproof rubber sheet between the sheet and the bed mattress or air mattress. Therefore, even when a person requiring care lying on the bed repeatedly turns over and rises, bends the mattress, or pressurizes and depressurizes the air mattress, the sheet is less likely to wrinkle, which can cause pressure on the skin and lead to bedsores. This allows the body pressure distribution effect of the bed mattress or air mattress to be fully utilized, while providing excellent bedsore prevention effects combined with quiet operation.
[0045] Furthermore, if sheets are used that have a surface layer made of a nonwoven fabric layer that is a water-absorbent material and a back layer made of a microporous film that is a breathable, waterproof material, moisture will be released appropriately outside the disposable laminated bed sheet, making it less likely to become stuffy, which will more effectively prevent the occurrence of bedsores and discomfort caused by stuffiness.
[0046] In addition, the use of flexible materials, with a surface layer made of a nonwoven fabric and a backing layer made of microporous film, ensures that the sheet does not interfere with the movement of the bed, mattress, or air mattress for the care recipient that uses it, and does not impede their inherent effectiveness in preventing bedsores.Furthermore, the backing layer made of microporous film, a breathable and waterproof material, not only prevents contamination from transferring to the underlying laminated bed sheet, but also prevents moisture from building up.
[0047] Furthermore, in the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, no fixing means such as stitching is arranged inside the second fixing means that crosses the long side portions at a position inside each long side portion of the first fixing means, so there are no components that absorb urine, feces, etc. and allow bad odors to penetrate, making it easier to maintain hygiene.
[0048] Furthermore, the unnecessary travel route to and from the equipment storehouse for setting and changing sheets has been shortened, which has made it possible to simplify and standardize work procedures. By using the disposable laminated bed sheets of the present invention, it has become easier to establish standard work procedures for nursing and caring for people who require care.

[0050] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0051] <About the materials used in disposable laminated bed sheets>
[0052] The disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention is made of a water-absorbing material constituting a surface layer and a moisture-permeable waterproof material constituting a back layer.
[0053] The water-absorbing material constituting the surface layer is composed of a nonwoven fabric layer. The nonwoven fabric layer is selected from spunlace nonwoven fabric, needle-punched nonwoven fabric, spunbond nonwoven fabric, meltblown nonwoven fabric, etc. Spunlace nonwoven fabric is preferably used.
[0054] The back layer made of a moisture-permeable, waterproof material can be a porous sheet of polyolefin such as polypropylene, polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc., preferably a microporous polyolefin sheet, more preferably a microporous polypropylene film, with a thickness of 5 to 1000 microns, more preferably 30 to 500 microns.
[0055] The disposable laminated bed sheets of the present invention are made of a water-absorbent material constituting the surface layer and a breathable waterproof material constituting the back layer, and have a thickness of approximately 55 gsm (Grams per Square Meter). This allows the laminated sheets to be firmly fixed to the bed without slipping even during use, and does not interfere with the operation of the bed, mattress, or air mattress for people requiring care that uses the sheets, nor does it interfere with their inherent anti-bedsore effect.
[0056] It is preferable to use a waterproof material for the backing layer that is strong enough to tear in one direction but not in the perpendicular direction so that it will not accidentally tear due to the patient's body pressure. The sheet material is then oriented so that the tearing direction is the long side and the tearing direction is the short side, and the perforations are oriented in the tear-resistant direction, making it easier to remove the second sheet. When using a material other than microporous polypropylene film as the waterproof material for the backing layer, the length of the slits that make up the perforations and the width between each slit can be adjusted appropriately to a value not greater than the thickness of a finger, so that the force required to tear the sheet at the perforations is similar to that required when using microporous polypropylene film.
[0057] As the sheet material used for the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, a sheet having a thickness of 55 gsm (Grams per Square Meter) and a surface layer made of a water-absorbent material, which is a spunlace nonwoven fabric, and a back layer made of a moisture-permeable waterproof material, which is a microporous polypropylene film, was selected.
[0058] The sheet, which has a surface layer made of a water-absorbent material that is a spunlace nonwoven fabric and a back layer made of a moisture-permeable, waterproof material that is a microporous polypropylene film, was positioned so that the tearing direction was the long side of the sheet and the tearing direction was the short side of the sheet, and the sheet was cut into a rectangle with long sides of 250 cm and short sides of 175 cm for the first sheet, and a rectangle with long sides of 190 cm and short sides of 87.5 cm for the second sheet. Multiple sheets were cut out of each of the first and second sheets.
[0059] Next, two second sheets were stacked on top of each other, with the stacked second sheet placed on the surface layer of the first sheet. The sheets were then sewn together across the long sides at a position 5 mm inward from the long side of the first fastening means sewn around the periphery at a position 5 mm inward from the periphery, forming the second fastening means and fastening each second sheet. The fastened second sheet was then placed in the center of the first sheet, and the second sheet was sewn along the long and short sides of the periphery at a position 5 mm inward from the periphery to form the first fastening means and fastening each sheet. Furthermore, perforations were made across the short sides at a position 5 mm inward from the short side of the first fastening means, with a slit length of 3 mm and a width of 1.5 mm between the slits. In this way, a disposable laminated bed sheet (Example 1) of the present invention was manufactured (see Figures 1 and 2).
[0060] In addition, disposable laminated bed sheets were also manufactured using the following method. First, two second sheets were placed on the surface layer of a first sheet, and the second sheets were sewn together along the long and short sides of the outer periphery of each sheet at positions 5 mm inward from the periphery to form the first fastening means. Next, the sheets were sewn together across the long sides at positions 5 mm inward from the long sides of the first fastening means, which had been sewn around the periphery at a position 5 mm inward from the periphery, to form the second fastening means. Furthermore, perforations were made 5 mm inward from the short sides of the first fastening means, with a length of 3 mm and a width of 1.5 mm between the perforations, across the short sides (see Figures 1 and 7). In this manner, disposable laminated bed sheets according to the present invention were manufactured.
[0061] The disposable laminated bed sheets of each Example manufactured by the above-mentioned method were placed on a bed mattress so that the second sheet was positioned on top of it. Then, the portion of the first sheet outside the portion where the second sheet was laminated was rolled up and fixed around the mattress.
[0062] A person 170 cm tall and weighing 60 kg was placed on the disposable laminated bed sheet of the example and repeatedly turned over in bed. It was confirmed that the disposable laminated bed sheet of example 1 firmly holds the entire second sheet in place by the first fastening means that fastens the outer periphery of the second sheet, making it wrinkle-resistant. It was also confirmed that the sheet was wrinkle-resistant when the person stood up and down. It was also confirmed that the sheet was wrinkle-resistant when the mattress was bent and the air mattress was pressurized and depressurized.
[0063] When the top sheet of the disposable laminated bed sheet of the example was peeled off from the perforations and the positions beside the second fixing means, the top sheet to be replaced could be easily peeled off without placing excessive strain on the person on the bed, revealing the clean surface layer of the second sheet made of absorbent material, which could be used as a new surface layer of the disposable laminated bed sheet. The time required to discard the contaminated part and replace it with a clean part was greatly reduced.
[0064] Furthermore, when the second sheet was changed by peeling off the part inside the second fastening means, the remaining part on the inside of the two long sides formed a long wall that stopped the liquid. Here, assuming that a patient would experience incontinence, for example, and would release a large amount of urine that would be too much for the sheet to absorb, a large amount of liquid was sprinkled on the sheet. The liquid was effectively contained within the wall without leaking outside the sheet. Furthermore, it was found that the more the second sheet was peeled off inside the second fastening means, the more the number of erect walls created by the remaining part of the sheet increased, further enhancing the effectiveness of preventing leakage. When the disposable laminated bed sheet is to be used by a person who is concerned about leakage or incontinence, it is understood that by providing the disposable laminated bed sheet in a state in which one of the second sheets located inside the second fixing means of the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention has been peeled off in advance to form a wall, the disposable laminated bed sheet can absorb liquid components more effectively from the start of use and can easily maintain a hygienic environment.
[0065] Furthermore, even after long-term use, pens, tweezers, scissors, cotton, dust, etc. did not get into the disposable laminated bed sheet through the perforations, and the sheet maintained its cleanliness.
[0066] Next, a disposable laminated bed sheet serving as Comparative Example 1 was manufactured using the same procedure as in Example 1, except that each second sheet was not fixed to each other by a second fixing means that crossed the long side portions at a position inside each long side portion of the first fixing means.
[0067] In the case of Comparative Example 1, when the second sheet was peeled away, the outer periphery remained. It was found that, particularly when peeled away at the very edge of the sewn area, the remaining outer periphery easily came off from the fastening means by which the remaining portion was sewn and fixed, and was easily peeled away, resulting in the outer periphery becoming a thin string, or a portion being torn off to form a ring of thin string-like sheet fragments. These thin strings or rings are easily accessible to the hands of a patient lying on the sheet, creating a risk that the patient may unconsciously use the thin string-like sheet fragments or the ring of thin string-like sheet fragments to self-harm or incur unexpected injury. The use of a device having such a structure is undesirable and poses a major problem in medical, nursing, and care settings where ensuring safety is a top priority.
[0068] Furthermore, a disposable laminated bed sheet serving as Comparative Example 2 was manufactured using the same procedure as in Example 1, except that the first fixing means was not arranged along the short side portion of the outer periphery of the second sheet.
[0069] When a person with a height of 170 cm and a weight of 60 kg was placed on the disposable laminated bed sheet of Comparative Example 2 and repeatedly turned over, it was confirmed that the sheet bent from the short side of the outer periphery of the second sheet, where the first fixing means was not provided, and wrinkles formed in the area where the person was lying and at the sides. Wrinkles were also confirmed when the person stood up and down. Furthermore, wrinkles were confirmed when the mattress was bent or the air mattress was repeatedly pressurized and decompressed. Furthermore, pens, tweezers, scissors, cotton, and dust got into the disposable laminated bed sheet during use, and cleanliness was not maintained. The use of a device having such a structure is undesirable and poses a major problem in medical, nursing, and care settings where safety and cleanliness must be ensured.
[0070] As the sheet material used for the disposable laminated bed sheet of the present invention, a sheet having a thickness of 55 gsm (Grams per Square Meter) and a surface layer made of a water-absorbent material, which is a spunlace nonwoven fabric, and a back layer made of a moisture-permeable waterproof material, which is a microporous polypropylene film, was selected.
[0071] The sheet, which has a surface layer made of a water-absorbent material that is a spunlace nonwoven fabric and a back layer made of a moisture-permeable, waterproof material that is a microporous polypropylene film, was positioned so that the tearing direction was the long side of the sheet and the tearing direction was the short side of the sheet, and the sheet was cut into a rectangle with long sides of 290 cm and short sides of 175 cm for the first sheet, and a rectangle with long sides of 190 cm and short sides of 87.5 cm for the second sheet. Multiple sheets were cut out of each of the first and second sheets.
[0072] In Example 2, disposable laminated bed sheets were manufactured according to the present invention. Each sheet was secured by stitching across the long side at a position 5 mm inward from the long side of the first securing means, which was sewn around the periphery at a position 5 mm inward from the long side. This constituted a second securing means. The first sheet was folded 40 cm from one of the short sides so that the back sides of the sheets met, and two second sheets were placed on top of each other, 15 cm from the folded position and centered between the long sides of the first sheets. The folded portion of the first sheet was then stretched, and the second sheet was sewn along the long and short sides of the outer periphery at a position 5 mm inward from the periphery to secure the sheets together, thereby forming the first securing means. Next, perforations were made across the short side at a position 5 mm inward from the short side of the first securing means, with a slit length of 3 mm and a width of 1.5 mm between the slits. Then, the first sheet was folded so that the back sides of the sheets were in contact with each other at a position 40 cm from one of the short sides, and a third fixing means was formed by sewing the first sheet to a position approximately 28.75 cm from the long side of the folded portion, forming a bag-shaped insert fixing portion (see Figures 3 and 4).
[0073] In Example 3, a disposable laminated bed sheet according to the present invention was manufactured using the same process as in Example 2, except that two second sheets were placed on top of each other on the surface layer of the first sheet, approximately 8 cm away from the folded portion and in the center between the long side portions of the first sheet.
[0074] In Example 4, a disposable laminated bed sheet according to the present invention was manufactured using the same process as in Example 2, except that the first sheet was folded so that the front sides of the first sheet were in contact with each other at a position 40 cm from one of the short sides (see Figures 5 and 6).
[0075] In Example 5, a disposable laminated bed sheet according to the present invention was manufactured using the same process as in Example 2, except that a first sheet was folded so that the surfaces of the first sheet were in contact with each other at a position 40 cm from one of the short sides, and two second sheets were placed on top of each other on the surface layer of the first sheet, approximately 8 cm from the folded position and in the center between the long sides of the first sheet.
[0076] The disposable laminated bed sheets of Examples 2 to 5 above could be easily secured by inserting the head portion of the mattress into the bag-shaped insert-fixing portion, or by placing the sheet on the bed and then turning the bag-shaped insert-fixing portion inside out to cover the head portion of the mattress, and then inserting the outer periphery of the first sheet that protrudes from the mattress so that it wraps around the mattress.
[0077] A person 170 cm tall and weighing 60 kg was placed on the disposable laminated bed sheet of Example 1 and repeatedly turned over in bed. It was confirmed that the disposable laminated bed sheet of each Example firmly holds the entire second sheet in place by the first fastening means that fastens the outer periphery of the second sheet, making it wrinkle-resistant. It was also confirmed that the bed sheet was wrinkle-resistant when the person stood up and down. It was also confirmed that the bed sheet was wrinkle-resistant when the mattress was bent and the air mattress was pressurized and depressurized.
[0078] When the top sheet of each disposable laminated bed sheet was peeled off from the perforations and the side of the second fastening means, the top sheet to be replaced could be easily peeled off without placing excessive strain on the person on the bed, revealing the clean surface layer of the second layer of absorbent material, which could be used as a new surface layer of the disposable laminated bed sheet. The time required to discard the contaminated part and replace it with a clean part was greatly reduced.
[0079] Furthermore, even after long-term use, pens, tweezers, scissors, cotton, dust, etc. did not get into the disposable laminated bed sheet through the perforations, and the sheet maintained its cleanliness.
[0080] A disposable laminated bed sheet (Example 6) of the present invention was produced in the same manner as in Example 1, except that perforations were made so that the length of the slits was 30 mm and the width between the slits was 5 mm.
[0081] When the top sheet of the disposable laminated bed sheet of Example 6 was peeled off from the perforations and the positions beside the second fastening means, the fingers of the person changing the sheets could be easily caught in the slits of the perforations, and the top sheet to be replaced could be easily peeled off without placing excessive strain on the person on the bed, more easily than with the slit length of 3 mm in Example 1, exposing the surface layer made of the absorbent material of the second layer of sheet, which remained clean, and became the new surface layer of the disposable laminated bed sheet. The time required to discard the contaminated part and replace it with a clean part was further shortened.
[0082] Furthermore, when a person 170 cm tall and weighing 60 kg was placed on the disposable laminated bed sheet of Example 6 and repeatedly turned over in bed, it was confirmed that the entire second sheet was firmly held in place by the first fixing means that fixes the outer periphery of the second sheet, and wrinkles were unlikely to form. It was also confirmed that wrinkles were unlikely to form when the person stood up and down. Furthermore, there was no slippage or sliding of the buttocks. It was also confirmed that wrinkles were unlikely to form when the mattress was bent or the air mattress was pressurized and depressurized.
[0083] It has become clear that by setting the length of the perforations and the width between the perforations longer, it is possible to provide disposable laminated bed sheets that meet the standards for safety and stability in the usage environment, make it easier to peel off the outer layer of the sheet to be replaced, prevent the multiple layers of sheets from shifting, and maintain the patient's posture stably, ensuring safety.
