AI Technical Summary
Current mammoplasty and mastopexy techniques result in large, visible scars, particularly the 'inverted T' shape, which are less accepted by patients seeking alternatives with smaller scars. The lack of a suitable mold for performing L-shaped mammoplasty/mastopexy complicates the surgical technique, making it less reproducible and less commonly performed.
A mold system designed to guide preoperative marking for L-shaped mammoplasty/mastopexy, composed of a main body, mobile semicircular arch, quadrangular ruler, and connection pins, which simplifies the surgical technique, reduces scar visibility, and enhances reproducibility.
The mold significantly reduces scar visibility, improves reproducibility and symmetry of the breasts, shortens the learning curve for surgeons, and simplifies the surgical procedure, leading to better post-operative results and patient acceptance.

Abstract
Description
DEVICE FOR MAMMOPLASTY / MASTOPEXY
[0001] This utility model patent falls within the field of aesthetic medicine, specifically for plastic surgery, and refers to a device and mold for performing Mammoplasty / Mastopexy with a reduced L-shaped scar.
[0002] The present patent aims to create protection mechanisms consisting of a guide for marking Mammoplasty and / or Mastopexy surgery that produces an L-shaped scar.
[0003] Breast surgeries are popularly used to treat excess volume, sagging skin and / or asymmetries that involve scars in the shape of an “inverted T”. There is a variation of this technique that produces a smaller scar, the L. This variation is difficult to mark and create. Today, few professionals perform this technique due to insecurity and lack of experience. For marking the T, there are already some popular molds such as Wise.
[0004] Currently, during mammoplasty / mastopexy procedures, large and visible scars are created, and the most commonly used mold for mammoplasty or mastopexy is the Wise mold. However, this mold produces “inverted T” scars, which leave permanent marks (scars) in the central region of the chest. These results have been increasingly less accepted by patients who want alternatives with smaller scars.
[0005] Mammoplasty or L-shaped mastopexy is the alternative with smaller scars, but the surgical technique is difficult to apply. Until now, complex techniques with little reproducibility have been used. There is currently no mold for performing L-shaped mammoplasty / mastopexy.
[0006] Conventional preoperative marking for Mammoplasty / Mastopexy with a reduced L-shaped scar requires measurements and guidelines that are not very precise and are not very reproducible. This is why this surgical technique has been little used despite achieving excellent results.
[0007] BR1 12019018581-0 “Medical device for breast surgery” refers to a medical device for breast surgery that consists of a three-dimensional matrix of hemispherical or paraboloidal or ellipsoidal or hyperboloidal shape, which is initially rolled up and can unfold into its original three-dimensional shape after insertion through a surgical incision. When rolled up, the medical device has the shape of a solid of revolution, with a central section larger than the distal sections and being tapered at the ends. It differs from the present patent in that it is not a device for use during surgery, but a mold that will guide the marking of a technique that produces an L-shaped scar.
[0008] US 2004 / 0249457 “Mastopexy Stabilization Apparatus and Method” relates to an apparatus and method for mastopexy surgeries that correct a ptosis condition caused by stretching of breast tissue as a result of pregnancy, aging, and / or the effects of gravity and athletic activity. This device provides an implant with homogeneously formed connectors that extend from within one wall of the implant to anchor to a patient’s chest wall or pectoral muscles. Embedded reinforcements and anchoring tabs or sutures can be readily oriented along a rib or other defined physiologic location to provide immediate, permanent, and symmetrical placement of implants in a mastopexy reconstruction. It differs from the present patent in that it is not a device for use during surgery, but rather a template that will guide the marking of a technique that produces an L-shaped scar.
[0009] US 2006 / 0036333 “Mastopexy Stabilization Apparatus and Method” refers to an apparatus and method for mastopexy surgeries that correct a condition of ptosis caused by stretching of tissue in the breast as a result of pregnancy, time, aging, and the effects of gravity and athletic activity providing an implant with homogeneously formed connectors that extend from within a wall of the implant to anchor to the wall thoracic or pectoral muscles of a patient. Embedded reinforcements and anchoring tabs or sutures can be readily oriented along a rib or other physiologic site to provide immediate, permanent, and symmetrical placement of implants in a mastopexy reconstruction. It differs from the present patent in that it is not a device for use during surgery, but a template that will guide the marking of a technique that produces an L-shaped scar.
[0010] US20120283826 “Systems and methods for mastopexy” relates to A mastopexy implant for maintaining the breast in an elevated and aesthetically pleasing position includes a lower pole support comprising end portions that can be attached to the chest wall or to a previously installed upper suspension support. The implant is loaded into an insertion device. The insertion device is inserted through a small incision and into a subcutaneous pocket created in the lower half of the breast. The lower pole support may have various constructions and in one embodiment includes a unitary conformable mesh with a plurality of arm or band members that are attached through the breast parenchyma and to the chest wall. It differs from the present patent in that it is not a device for use during surgery, but a mold that will guide the marking of a technique that produces an L-shaped scar.
[0011] US 2017 / 0143475 “Systems and methods for mastopexy” relates to A mastopexy implant for maintaining the breast in an elevated and aesthetically pleasing position includes a lower pole support comprising end portions that can be attached to the chest wall or to a previously installed upper suspension support. The implant is loaded into an insertion device. The insertion device is inserted through a small incision and into a subcutaneous pocket created in the lower half of the breast. The lower pole support may have various constructions and, in one embodiment, includes a unitary conformable mesh having a plurality of arm or band members that are fixed through the breast parenchyma and to the chest wall. It differs from the present patent in that it is not a device for use during surgery, but a mold that will guide the marking of a technique that produces an L-shaped scar.
[0012] BR 202020 022222 3, “Mold for Mammoplasty / Mastopexy” owned by the holder of the present patent also refers to a mold for Mammoplasty / Mastopexy with a reduced L-shaped scar. The present patent differs from BR 20 2020 022222 3 in that it is an improvement on the existing device, with its shape, dimensions and arrangement of parts changed to allow better use of the instrument.
[0013] Unlike these patents and the state of the art, the proposed mold systematizes and guides preoperative marking and, therefore, allows the surgical technique to be performed in a more simplified manner. In addition, the use of the proposed mold significantly reduces scars, avoiding them in the décolleté region and thus making them easily accepted by patients.
[0014] The subject matter of this patent has the following advantages:
[0015] - Greater reproducibility for mastopexies with reduced L-shaped scars.
[0016] - Greater symmetry of the breasts since we follow a mold.
[0017] - Shorter learning curve for creating the L-shaped scar.
[0018] - It allows systematically, through a device similar to a ruler, preoperative marking that will result in a reduced L-shaped scar.
[0019] - It can guide both experienced and new surgeons, as it will simplify the performance of this technique.
[0020] - Reduces surgery time and surgical re-approach rates.
[0021] - Guides and facilitates the marking of Mammoplasty / Mastopexy with a reduced L-shaped scar.
[0022] - Standardized preoperative marking,
[0023] - Systematization of surgical procedure and predictability of results,
[0024] - Better post-operative symmetry,
[0025] - Smaller scars and greater reproducibility of the Mammoplasty / Mastopexy surgical technique with L-shaped scars.
[0026] This mold is made from malleable material that better adapts to the curves of the body and consists of 3 pieces.
