[0514] In some embodiments, the seventh information is used to indicate: the reason for the failure of authorization or privacy check, and the third terminal is a terminal that receives the ranging or SL positioning service request information.

[0515] The optional implementation of step S6001 can refer to the optional implementation of step S2208 in Figure 2a and other related parts in the embodiment involved in Figure 2a, and will not be repeated here.

[0516] Step S6002: The first terminal sends first information to the second terminal.

[0517] The optional implementation of step S6002 can refer to the optional implementation of step S2209 in Figure 2a and other related parts of the embodiment involved in Figure 2a, which will not be repeated here.

[0518] In some embodiments, the above method may include the methods of the above-mentioned communication system side, first terminal side, second terminal side, third terminal side, etc. embodiments, which will not be repeated here.

[0519] In order to better understand the embodiments of the present disclosure, some exemplary embodiments are further described below:

[0520] Example 1:

[0521] A communication system is provided assuming that a terminal is locally configured or provisioned with information required by the terminal to perform authorization or privacy verification.

[0522] As shown in FIG7a , an embodiment of the present disclosure relates to a communication method, which includes:

[0523] Step S7201a: On PC5, UE-1 (first terminal) receives a ranging / SL positioning service request from the positioning client UE (second terminal).

[0524] In some embodiments, the ranging / SL positioning service request (second information) includes user information of the SL positioning client UE, user information of the target UE, user information of the SL reference UE (UE-2) and a service identifier, etc.

[0525] Step S7201b: UE-1 receives a ranging / SL positioning service request from the RSPP application layer.

[0526] In some embodiments, the ranging / SL positioning service request includes the user information of the SL reference UE (UE-2), the service identifier, etc.

[0527] Step S7202: Performing authorization or privacy check operation. Upon receiving a service request from the client UE or the RSPP application layer, UE-1 (eg, target UE) performs authorization or privacy check operation.

[0528] In some embodiments, it is verified based on the privacy setting (fourth information) whether UE-1 allows the SL positioning result to be opened to the SL positioning client UE.

[0529] In some embodiments, it is verified whether it is allowed to open the SL positioning measurement data or results to UE-2 according to its privacy settings.

[0530] In some embodiments, if privacy settings are not available in UE-1, then if UE-1 is within network coverage, perform step S7203, or if UE-1 is out of network coverage, proceed to step S7204 (S7204a or S7204b, depending on UE implementation).

[0531] Step S7203: Execute the SL-MO-LR procedure and obtain the check result. If the information required by the UE to perform authorization or privacy verification (privacy settings) is not available on the UE, UE-1 triggers the SL-MO-LR procedure to the core network, requesting authorization / privacy checks on UE-1 and UE-2, and obtaining the check results.

[0532] Step S7204a: If any authorization fails, UE-1 will terminate the subsequent process and respond to the SL positioning client UE with the failure reason (first information).

[0533] In some embodiments, for the UE check in step S7202, the failure reason may be a privacy / authorization check failure, or exposure rejected by UE-1, or exposure to the client UE rejected by UE-1, or exposure to UE-2 rejected by UE-1.

[0534] In some embodiments, for the case of network check in step S7203, the failure reason may be failure of privacy / authorization check, or refusal to be exposed to the client UE, or refusal to be exposed to the client UE by UE-1, or refusal to be exposed to the client UE by UE-2, or refusal to be exposed to the client UE by both UE-1 and UE-2.

[0535] Step S7204b: If the UE check in step S7202 is successful or the network check in step S7203 is successful, UE-1 discovers UE-2, and the UE performs capability exchange.

[0536] Step S7205: UE-1 sends a supplementary RSPP service request (sixth information) to UE-2.

[0537] In some embodiments, the request includes user information of the SL positioning client UE, user information of the target UE (UE-1), a service identifier, etc.

[0538] Step S7206: Upon receiving the service request from UE-1, UE-2 (eg, SL reference UE) performs authorization or privacy check operations.

[0539] In some embodiments, it is verified based on its privacy settings (eighth information) whether it allows the SL positioning results to be opened to the SL positioning client UE.

[0540] In some embodiments, it is verified whether it is allowed to open the SL positioning measurement data or results to UE-1 according to its privacy settings.

[0541] In some embodiments, if the privacy setting is not available in UE-2, proceed to step S7207 (S7207a or S7207b, depending on UE implementation).

[0542] Step S7207a1: If any verification in S7206 fails, UE-2 terminates the subsequent process and responds (seventh information).

[0543] In some embodiments, UE-2 aborts subsequent procedures and responds to UE-1 with a failure reason.

[0544] In some embodiments, the failure reason may be a privacy / authorization check failure, or exposure denied by UE-2, or exposure denied by UE-2 to the client UE, or exposure denied by UE-2 to UE-1.

[0545] Step S7207a2: If any verification in S7206 fails, UE-2 terminates the subsequent process and responds (first information).

[0546] In some embodiments, if UE-1 receives a response with a failure cause from UE-2, UE-1 shall abort subsequent procedures and respond to the SL positioning client UE with a failure cause.

[0547] In some embodiments, the failure reason may be a privacy / authorization check failure, or exposure denied by UE-2, or exposure denied by UE-2 to the client UE, or exposure denied by UE-2 to UE-1.

[0548] Step S7207b: If any verification in S7206 succeeds, UE-1 and UE-2 perform SL measurement, data transmission and / or result calculation.

[0549] Step S7208: UE-2 responds to UE-1 with the SL positioning measurement, or if the result calculation is performed by UE-2, responds to UE-1 with the SL positioning result.

[0550] Step S7209: Result calculation: In the case where UE-1 calculates the SL positioning result, UE-1 calculates the result based on the SL positioning measurement received in step S7207b.

[0551] Step S7210a: The ranging / SL positioning result is transmitted to the SL positioning client UE in the ranging / SL positioning service response.

[0552] Step S7210b: The ranging / SL positioning result is transmitted to the RSPP application layer.

[0553] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, some or all of the steps and their optional implementations may be arbitrarily combined with some or all of the steps in other embodiments, or may be arbitrarily combined with the optional implementations of other embodiments.

[0554] The embodiments of the present disclosure further provide an apparatus for implementing any of the above methods. For example, an apparatus is provided, comprising units or modules for implementing each step performed by a terminal in any of the above methods. For another example, another apparatus is provided, comprising units or modules for implementing each step performed by a network device (e.g., an access network device, a core network function node, a core network device, etc.) in any of the above methods.

[0555] It should be understood that the division of the various units or modules in the above device is merely a division of logical functions. In actual implementation, they may be fully or partially integrated into a physical entity, or they may be physically separated. In addition, the units or modules in the device may be implemented in the form of a processor calling software: for example, the device includes a processor, the processor is connected to a memory, and the memory stores instructions. The processor calls the instructions stored in the memory to implement any of the above methods or implement the functions of the various units or modules of the above device, wherein the processor is, for example, a general-purpose processor, such as a central processing unit (CPU) or a microprocessor, and the memory is a memory within the device or a memory outside the device. Alternatively, the units or modules in the device can be implemented in the form of hardware circuits, and the functions of some or all of the units or modules can be realized by designing the hardware circuits. The above-mentioned hardware circuits can be understood as one or more processors; for example, in one implementation, the above-mentioned hardware circuit is an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), which realizes the functions of some or all of the above units or modules by designing the logical relationship of the components in the circuit; for example, in another implementation, the above-mentioned hardware circuit can be realized by a programmable logic device (PLD). Taking a field programmable gate array (FPGA) as an example, it can include a large number of logic gate circuits, and the connection relationship between the logic gate circuits is configured by configuring the configuration file, thereby realizing the functions of some or all of the above units or modules. All units or modules of the above devices can be realized in the form of software called by the processor, or in the form of hardware circuits, or in part by the form of software called by the processor, and the rest by hardware circuits.

[0556] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the processor is a circuit with signal processing capabilities. In one implementation, the processor can be a circuit with instruction reading and execution capabilities, such as a central processing unit (CPU), a microprocessor, a graphics processing unit (GPU) (which can be understood as a microprocessor), or a digital signal processor (DSP). In another implementation, the processor can implement certain functions through the logical relationship of the hardware circuit. The logical relationship of the above-mentioned hardware circuit is fixed or reconfigurable. For example, the processor is a hardware circuit implemented by an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) or a programmable logic device (PLD), such as an FPGA. In a reconfigurable hardware circuit, the process of the processor loading a configuration document and implementing the hardware circuit configuration can be understood as the process of the processor loading instructions to implement the functions of some or all of the above units or modules. In addition, it can also be a hardware circuit designed for artificial intelligence, which can be understood as an ASIC, such as a neural network processing unit (NPU), a tensor processing unit (TPU), a deep learning processing unit (DPU), etc.
