Abstract

A natural hair oil composition is provided. The hair oil composition can be applied topically to the hair and scalp to promote and stimulate hair growth naturally, reduce hair loss, help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp, and provide smooth texture, decrease frizz and add shine. The ingredients of the composition include natural herbs and oils containing essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids, antioxidants, natural fats, fatty acids, and lipids that can help promote and stimulate hair growth naturally, reduce hair loss, help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp, and provide smooth texture, decrease frizz, and add shine. Methods for making such hair oil compositions and methods for applying the hair oil to the hair or scalp of a person are also provided.

The ingredients for the composition include natural herbs and oils that contains essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids, natural fats, fatty acids, and lipids that can help promote and stimulate hair growth, reduce hair loss, and help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp, In addition, the ingredients help provide smooth texture, decrease frizz, and add shine to the hair. The hair oil composition can be applied topically to the hair and scalp. The invention also encompasses methods for making such hair oil composition and methods for applying the hair oil composition.Brief Review of the Related Art

[0003] Millions of people throughout the world suffer from some type of hair loss. In the United States, it is estimated that over 80 million people suffers from hair loss. Hair loss can be noticed when a person combs their hair (hair attached to the comb), swipes their hand through their hair (hair attached to the hand), or even just when sleeping (hair attached to pillows). Hair thinning is also noticeable due to falling out of the hair. Hair loss can have detrimental effects to patients including, but not limited to, negative impact on a patient’s emotional state (feelings and experiences), decreased confidence, embarrassment, anxiety, depression, and general withdrawal from the social engagement.

[0004] Current treatment options for hair loss and hair thinning such as using hair growth agents containing synthetic chemicals can have undesirable side effects on many people using the products. For example, such chemicals can be very harsh on the scalp and hair and irritating to the skin with frequent use. This can lead to the scalp and hair becoming dry and itchy. Other medical conditions of the scalp such as dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema can develop and need to be treated.

[0005] Thus, there is a need for a natural hair oil composition that can be applied topically to the hair and scalp to promote and stimulate hair growth naturally, reduce hair loss, and help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp. It would be desirable to have a hair oil composition that does not contain synthetic chemicals. The hair oil composition should contain natural, renewable, and sustainable ingredients that can help promote hair growth, help reduce hair fall, and help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp, and preferably help make the hair have a smooth texture, decrease frizz, and add shine. The resulting hair strands after treatment are preferably more lustrous / shiny. Preferably, the hair oil composition can help to remove soil, grime, grease, and other debris from a person’s hair and skin surface, particularly the scalp. The present invention provides such natural hair oil composition. Preferably, the hair oil composition is “all-natural”, that is, it consists only of natural, renewable, and sustainable ingredients. Other advantages, features, and benefits of the present invention are described further below.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The present invention provides natural hair oil compositions for applying to hair and scalp of a person (user). The compositions include natural herbs and oils that contain essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids, antioxidants, natural fats, lipids and mixtures thereof. The hair oil compositions of the present invention preferably have antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties as it is comprised of ingredients with such benefits. The hair oil compositions can be used to promote and stimulate hair growth naturally, reduce hair loss, help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp. In addition, the hair oil compositions can help provide smooth texture, decrease frizz, and add shine. The hair oil compositions can be applied topically by hand to the hair and scalp. The present invention alsoencompasses methods for making such hair oil composition and methods for applying the hair oil composition.

[0007] In one preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition comprises: Brassica Alba (Mustard) Seed Oil; Water; Trigonella Foenum- Graecum (Fenugreek) Seeds; Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera Gel); and Vitamin E Acetate (Tocopheryl Acetate). The ingredients can be present in the composition in different amounts as described below. [0011] In a preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition of the present invention includes Brassica Alba (Mustard) Seed Oil. Preferably, pure Brassica Alba (Mustard) Seed Oil is used. In general, mustard oil is derived from the mustard plant. Mustard oil is rich in natural fats, including Omega-3 and Omega- 6 fatty acids, that can help hair condition and moisturize, and is known to promote and stimulate hair growth. The mustard oil has a warming effect on the scalp and hair and helps reduce inflammation and irritation. The mustard oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties to prevent skin and scalp infections. The key benefits of Mustard oil for the hair include: helps promote and stimulate hair growth, reduces hair fallout, improves scalp health, moisturizes and conditions hair, helps delay premature graying, reduces dandruff, and strengthens the hair. The Mustard oil is preferably present in the hair oil formulation of the present invention in an amount of about 85 to about 95 weight percent based on total weight of the composition.Trigonella Foenum-Graecum (Fenugreek) Seeds

[0012] In a preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition of the present invention includes Trigonella Foenum-Graecum (Fenugreek) Seeds. In general, Fenugreek is an herb that is native to Southern Europe, the Mediterranean, and Western Asia. However, Fenugreek is cultivated worldwide. The herb has a similar appearance to clover, and the seeds have a taste and smell like maple syrup. Fenugreek seeds are a rich source of fiber, iron manganese, magnesium, vitamins (A, B l, B2, B6, and C), and plant-based protein that can promote healthy scalp, hair growth, and enhance hair volume and thickness. The Fenugreek seeds have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal effects. The Fenugreek seeds are known to help stimulate blood circulation to the scalp. Fenugreek seeds have several key benefits including, for example, helping to promote hair growth, reducing hair fallout, improving scalp health, adding shine and softness, delaying premature graying, strengthening hair, and improving blood circulation to the scalp. The Fenugreek seeds are processed with water as a side phase prior to being further processed and added to the primary mixing vessel and are preferably present in the hair oil formulation of the present invention in an amount of about 5 to about 15 weight percent based on total weight of the composition.Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera Gel)

[0013] In a preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition of the present invention includes Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice [Aloe Vera Gel). In general, Aloe Vera is a plant that is native to many regions of the world. The Aloe Vera plant grows in tropical, semi-tropical, and arid climates. The Aloe Vera plant has thick leaves containing a gel-like substance. The Aloe Vera gel contains bioactive compounds such as minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and antioxidants. The Aloe Vera gel is beneficial for scalp healing, decreasing frizz, moisturization, and antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, and wound healing effects. More particularly, the Aloe Vera gel which contains folic acid, vitamins; A, C, E, and Bl 2, helps promote hair conditioning, scalp healing, healthy cell growth, helps repair the breakage of hair strands, and helps reduce hair loss. Aloe Vera gel has several key benefits including, for example, it promotes hair growth, reduces hair fall, moisturizes and conditions hair, reduces dandruff, strengthens hair, adds shine to hair, provides soothing effects, and repairs damaged hair / decrease frizz. Preferably, the Aloe Vera gel is present in the hair oil formulation of the present invention an amount of about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent based on total weight of the composition.Vitamin E Acetate (Tocopheryl Acetate)

[0014] In a preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition of the present invention includes Vitamin E Acetate (Tocopheryl Acetate). In general, Vitamin E Acetate, also commonly referred to a Tocopheryl Acetate, has a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Due to its antioxidant properties, it can protect cells from being damaged by oxygen free radicals, thus promoting the healthy scalp and healthy hair growth. The Vitamin E Acetate can penetrate through the scalp to the hair growth cells thus resulting in healthy scalp and hair, promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss, and reducing scalp inflammation. It is also believed that the Vitamin E Acetate absorbs energy from the Ultraviolet (UV) lights and hence can help protect the scalp and hair against UV induced free radical damages. The key benefits of Vitamin E Acetate include promoting hair growth, reducing hair loss, protecting hair from UV damage, repairing damaged hair, improving scalp health, delaying premature graying, strengthening hair, and moisturizong and conditioning hair. Preferably, the Vitamin E Acetate is present in the hair oil formulation ofthe present invention in an amount of about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent based on total weight of the composition.Optional Ingredients

[0015] The hair oil composition of this invention may optionally contain any other natural ingredients such as natural fragrances, essential oils, other oils as base or carrier, antimicrobials, and sunscreens and lipid soluble ingredients. It is not necessary that these optional ingredients be present in the hair oil formulation. In some embodiments, the hair oil composition consists only of Brassica Alba (Mustard) Seed oil; Water; Trigonella Foenum-Graecum (Fenugreek) seeds; Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera Gel); and Vitamin E Acetate (Tocopheryl Acetate) as described above. In other embodiments, optional ingredients are present in the hair oil composition and generally in the amount of about 0.001 to about 5 weight percent based on total weight of the composition.Method of Making Hair Oil Composition

[0016] In one embodiment of the present invention, the manufacturing process shown in FIG. 1 is used to manufacture the hair oil composition. In another embodiment, the hair oil composition is made according to the following steps:1) Add the Fenugreek seeds to a container, preferably a stainless-steel container, and submerge the Fenugreek seeds by adding water to the container.2) Leave the Fenugreek seeds soaking in the water for at least twelve (12) hours and perform filtration to isolate and retain Fenugreek seeds. The Fenugreek seeds are soaked in the water for a sufficient period of time to fully wet the Fenugreek seeds. Preferably, purified water is used. Once the mixture has been filtered, grind the Fenugreek seeds to create small particulate or a paste.3) In a primary mixing vessel, heat the Mustard Oil to a medium-range temperature (preferably, in the range of about 32° to about 40°C.)4) Add the Fenugreek parti culate / paste to the heated Mustard Oil in the primary mixing vessel and mix the mixture / composition until the mixture / composition is uniformly blended. Maintain the temperature in the range of about 32° to about 40°C.5) While mixing the Fenugreek particulate / paste and the Mustard Oil in the primary mixing vessel, add the Aloe Vera Gel to the primary mixing vessel and continue to mix the mixture / composition until the mixture / composition is uniformly blended. Maintain temperature in the range of about 25° to about 40°C.6) While mixing the Fenugreek particulate / paste, Mustard Oil, and Aloe Vera Gel in the primary mixing vessel, add the Vitamin E Acetate to the primary mixing vessel and continue to mix the mixture / composition and proceed to next step.7) While maintaining temperature in the range of about 25° to about 40°C, mix the mixture / composition until the mixture / composition is uniformly blended.8) Filter the resulting composition using a 0.3-to-3-micron filter.9) Perform a Bulk Product Yield Calculation.

[0017] In a preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition of the present invention includes some water, preferably purified water. The water is used to process (wet) the Fenugreek seeds as a side phase as described above. The Fenugreek seed should be soaked in the water for a sufficient amount of time to fully wet the Fenugreek seeds. After the Fenugreek seeds are wetted for the appropriate amount of time, any residual water is removed by filtering. This step is done prior to adding the Fenugreek particulate / paste to the primary mixing vessel.

[0018] The mixing of the above ingredients can be performed using any suitable equipment (capable of heating and cooling) and techniques such as blending, stirring, or shaking to achieve a homogeneous blend of the ingredients. The hair oil composition of this invention may be made into a wide variety of product types that include but are not limited to semi-solid and liquid compositions such as fragrance oils, lotions, creams, gels, shampoos and conditioners.

[0019] The hair oil composition of this invention may be topically applied to the hair and scalp to promote hair growth, reduce hair loss, and help nourish, condition, and moisturize the hair and scalp. In addition, the hair oil composition helps provide smooth texture to the hair, decreases frizz, and adds shine. Preferably, the hair oil composition is applied at least twice per week or daily as preferred. In one preferred embodiment, the hair oil composition is applied thoroughly to the hair and scalp. Next, the hair oil composition is gently massaged into the hair and scalp. Thehair oil composition is left in the hair and scalp for at least two (2) hours. Then, the hair and scalp are washed with shampoo and / or conditioner.

[0020] It also should be understood that the compositions, formulations, materials, methods, and the like described and illustrated herein represent only some embodiments of the invention. It is appreciated by those skilled in the art that various changes and additions can be made to the compositions, formulations, materials, methods, and the like herein without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention. It is intended that all such embodiments be covered by the appended claims.

Claims

ClaimsI claim:

1. A hair oil composition for applying to hair or scalp of a person, comprising: Brassica Alba Seed oil; Water; Trigonella Foenum-Graecum Seeds; Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and Vitamin E Acetate.

2. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises no amount of synthetic chemicals.

3. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises the Brassica Alba Seed oil in an amount of about 85 to about 95% by weight based on total weight of the composition.

4. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises the Trigonella Foenum- Graecum Seeds in an amount of about 5 to about 15% by weight based on total weight of the composition.

5. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises the Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice in an amount of about 0.1 to about 5% by weight based on total weight of the composition.

6. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises the Vitamin E Acetate in an amount of about 0.1 to about 5% by weight based on total weight of the composition.

7. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises the Water in a concentration that is at least three times the concentration of the Trigonella Foenum-Graecum Seeds.

8. The hair oil composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is applied to the hair or scalp by hand.

9. A method for making a hair oil composition, comprising the steps of: a) adding Fenugreek seeds to a container containing water and submerging the Fenugreek seeds with water in the container; b) leaving the Fenugreek seeds soaking in the water for at least twelve (12) hours and then filtering to isolate and retain the Fenugreek seeds; c) grinding the Fenugreek seeds to create small particulate or a paste; d) heating Mustard Oil to a temperature in the range of about 32° to about 40°C; e) adding the Fenugreek parti culate / paste to the heated Mustard Oil and mixing the mixture / composition until the mixture / composition is uniformly blended while maintaining temperature in the range of about 32° to about 40°C; f) adding Aloe Vera Gel to the Fenugreek particulate / paste and the Mustard Oil and mixing the mixture / composition until the mixture / composition is uniformly blended while maintaining temperature in the range of about 25° to about 40°C; g) adding Vitamin E acetate to the Fenugreek particulate / paste; Mustard Oil; and Aloe Vera Gel, and mixing the mixture / composition; h) While maintaining the temperature in the range of about 25° to about 40°C, mixing the mixture / composition until the mixture / composition is uniformly blended; and i) Filtering the composition.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the composition comprises no amount of synthetic chemicals.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the composition is in the form of a liquid, oil, semi-solids, or gel.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the composition is filtered using a filter having a micron rating in the range of about 0.3 to about 3 microns.
