Description

DEVICE, METHOD AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM FOR INTEGRATED SENSING AND COMMUNICATIONTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of telecommunication, and in particular, to device, method and computer readable medium for Integrated Sensing And Communication (ISAC) .BACKGROUND

[0002] ISAC is listed as a new key feature of six scenarios in the sixth generation (6G) system. In the early stage of ISAC discussion in the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) , it may aim to build communication based sensing system.

[0003] For some sensing scenarios and requirements, an integrated transmission of a sensing signal and a communication signal may be used. Additionally or alternatively, transmission of the sensing signal may be quasi co-located with transmission of the communication signal, especially for common periodic sensing signal. Thus, relevant relationships and sensing transmission schemes should be designed based on transmission of the communication signal.SUMMARY

[0073] In some embodiments, the interface between the sensing TRP 150 and the terminal device 110 may be a Uu interface. In other words, the interface may be transparent from the perspective of the terminal device 110. Alternatively, the interface may be a new interface for the sensing TRP 150.

[0074] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may comprise at least one of the  following:

[0075] · the interface between the network device 130 and the terminal device 110,

[0076] · the interface between the terminal device 120 and the terminal device 110,

[0077] · the interface between the Uu sensing module 110-11 and the communication module 110-2,

[0078] · the interface between the Uu sensing module 110-12 and the communication module 110-2,

[0079] · the interface between the Uu sensing module 110-11 and the sidelink sensing module 110-12,

[0080] · the interface between the sensing TRP 140 and the terminal device 110, or

[0081] · the interface between the sensing TRP 150 and the terminal device 110.

[0082] Fig. 1C illustrates a schematic diagram of a further example communication network 100C in which embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. The example communication network 100C is similar to the example communication network 100B. The example communication network 100C is different from the example communication network 100B in that in the example communication network 100C, the network device 130 does not comprise the sensing control module 130-3. Each of the sensing module 140-1 of the sensing TRP 140 and the sensing module 150-1 of the sensing TRP 150 performs sensing management and control.

[0083] As described above, for some sensing scenarios and requirements, an integrated transmission of a sensing signal and a communication signal may be used. Additionally or alternatively, transmission of the sensing signal may be quasi co-located with transmission of the communication signal, especially for common periodic sensing signal. Thus, relevant relationships and sensing transmission schemes should be designed based on transmission of the communication signal.

[0084] In view of the above, embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for ISAC. In this solution, a first device determines a sensing signal and a donor communication signal. The first device determines a sensing resource for transmission of the sensing signal based on a communication resource for transmission of the donor communication signal. In turn, the first device transmits the sensing signal on the sensing resource. With this solution, an integrated transmission of the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may be achieved.

[0085] Hereinafter, principle of the present disclosure will be described with reference to  Figs. 2 to 13.

[0086] Fig. 2 illustrates a flowchart of an example method 200 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, the method 200 can be implemented at a first device. For example, the first device may be implemented as the terminal device 110, the terminal device 120 or the network device 130 as shown in Fig. 1A. Alternatively, the first device may be implemented as the terminal device 110, the network device 130, the sensing TRP 140 or the sensing TRP 150 as shown in Fig. 1B or 1C.

[0087] At block 210, the first device determines a sensing signal and a donor communication signal.

[0088] In some embodiments, the donor communication signal may comprise a quasi co-location (QCL) source signal or a QCL reference signal for the sensing signal.

[0089] At block 220, the first device determines a sensing resource for transmission of the sensing signal based on a communication resource for transmission of the donor communication signal.

[0090] At block 230, the first device transmits the sensing signal on the sensing resource.

[0091] With the method 200, an integrated transmission of the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may be achieved.

[0092] In some embodiments, a signal pair comprising the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may be pre-defined in an ISAC system. Alternatively, the signal pair may be configured or pre-configured by the network device 130.

[0093] In some embodiments, the first device may determine a configuration for a QCL relationship between the sensing signal and the donor communication signal. The configuration for the QCL relationship may benefit sensing signal receiving and measurement.

[0094] It shall be noted that the communication signal may be identified as a communication channel or antenna port. Similarly, the sensing signal may be identified as a sensing channel or sensing antenna port. Thus, in the following description, the communication signal may be used interchangeably with the communication channel or antenna port, and the sensing signal may be used interchangeably with the sensing channel or sensing antenna port.

[0095] In some embodiments, the configuration for the QCL relationship between the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may indicate that a QCL type comprises any of the following:

[0096] · type A: {Doppler shift, Doppler spread, average delay, delay spread} ,

[0097] · type B: {Doppler shift, Doppler spread} ,

[0098] · type C: {Doppler shift, average delay} , or

[0099] · type D: {Spatial Rx parameter} .

[0100] In some embodiments, the first device may comprise a network device or a TRP. For example, the first device may comprise the network device 130 in Fig. 1A, 1B or 1C, or the sensing TRP 140 or the sensing TRP 150 in Fig. 1B or 1C. In other words, the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may be transmitted by the network device 130, or transmitted by the sensing TRP 140 or the sensing TRP 150. In such embodiments, the configuration for the QCL relationship between the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may indicate that the donor communication signal is one of the following:

[0101] · a synchronization signal block (SSB) ,

[0102] · a first signal on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) ,

[0103] · a second signal on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) ,

[0104] · a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) ,

[0105] · a positioning reference signal (PRS) ,

[0106] · a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) , or

[0107] · a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) .

[0108] In such embodiments, the sensing signal may comprise one of the following:

[0109] · a sensing control signal,

[0110] · a seventh signal on a sensing control channel,

[0111] · a sensing measurement signal, or

[0112] · an eighth signal on a sensing measurement channel.

[0113] Consider a first example. In the first example, the configuration for the QCL relationship may be transmitted through “DL-Sensing-QCL” information element (IE) as below:

[0114] ◆ DL-Sensing-QCL:

[0115] · SSB

[0126] In some embodiments, the “DL-Sensing-QCL” IE may be a dedicated IE or a new IE.

[0127] Consider a second example. In the second example, the configuration for the QCL relationship may be transmitted through “DL-SensingMeas-QCL” IE as below:

[0133] - QCL-Type

[0134] Where:

[0135] · DL-SensingMeas-QCL specifies a QCL indication for a sensing measurement channel and comprises the following subfields:

[0137] ◆ DL-PRS-ID which indicates an ID of a TRP transmitting PRS, i.e., DL-PRS-ID is used along with a DL-PRS Resource Set ID and a DL-PRS Resource ID to uniquely identify a DL-PRS Resource,  and is associated with a single TRP;

[0140] ◆ QCL-Type which indicates the QCL type, i.e., one of type A, type C, type D, and type C-plus-type D.

[0141] In some embodiments, the “DL-SensingMeas-QCL” IE may be a dedicated IE or a new IE.

[0142] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first device may comprise a terminal device. For example, the first device may comprise the terminal device 110 in Fig. 1A, 1B or 1C, or the terminal device 120 in Fig. 1A. In other words, the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may be transmitted by the terminal device 110 or the terminal device 120. In such embodiments, the configuration for the QCL relationship between the sensing signal and the donor communication signal may indicate that the donor communication signal is one of the following:

[0143] · a third signal on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) ,

[0144] · a fourth signal on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) ,

[0145] · a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) ,

[0152] In such embodiments, the sensing signal may comprise one of the following:

[0153] · the sensing control signal,

[0154] · the seventh signal on a sensing control channel,

[0155] · the sensing measurement signal, or

[0156] · the eighth signal on the sensing measurement channel.

[0157] Consider a third example. In the third example, the configuration for the QCL relationship may be transmitted through “UL-Sensing-QCL” IE as below:

[0158] ◆ UL-Sensing-QCL:

[0159] · SRS

[0163] Where:

[0164] · UL-Sensing-QCL specifies a QCL indication for a sensing signal transmitted by a terminal device to a network device or TRP and comprises the following subfields:

[0165] - SRS which indicates SRS is the donor communication signal (i.e., SRS is used as a QCL source signal) , and further indicates the following subfields:

[0167] ◆ srs-ResourceId indicates an identity of an SRS resource configured as the QCL source signal for the sensing signal;

[0168] ◆ QCL-Type indicates a QCL type, i.e., type A or type B.

[0169] In some embodiments, the “UL-Sensing-QCL” IE may be a dedicated IE or a new IE.

[0170] Consider a fourth example. In the fourth example, the configuration for the QCL relationship may be transmitted through “SL-Sensing-QCL” IE as below:

[0171] ◆ SL-Sensing-QCL:

[0172] · sl-PRS

[0173] - sl-PRS-ResourcePoolID

[0174] - QCL-Type

[0175] Where:

[0176] · SL-Sensing-QCL specifies a QCL indication for a sidelink sensing signal and comprises the following subfields:

[0177] - sl-PRS which indicates an SL-PRS is the donor communication signal, and it should be used as a QCL source signal for the sidelink sensing signal, and comprises the followings subfields:

[0178] ◆ sl-PRS-ResourcePoolID specifies an identity of a sidelink resource pool which can be used to transmit the SL-PRS;

[0179] ◆ QCL-Type indicates a QCL type, i.e., type A, type B, type C, or type D.

[0180] In some embodiments, the “SL-Sensing-QCL” IE may be a dedicated IE or a new IE.

[0181] In some embodiments, for a given sensing signal transmission, in order to determine the sensing resource, the first device may determine a first size of the sensing resource.

[0182] In some embodiments, the sensing resource may be defined as a certain size in time domain or frequency domain for each sensing signal transmission. In other words, the same resource size should be used for multiple transmissions of the same type of sensing signal.

[0183] In some embodiments, the first size of the sensing resource may be k symbols, n resource blocks (RBs) , N kHz and so on, where each of k, n and N is an integer.

[0184] In some embodiments, the first device may determine the first size of the sensing resource based on at least one of the following: configuration, pre-configuration, or a higher layer signalling.

[0185] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first device may determine the first size of the sensing resource based on a second size of a communication resource for the donor communication signal.

[0186] In some embodiments, in order to determine the first size of the sensing resource based on the second size of the communication resource, the first device may determine a first number of symbols comprised in the sensing resource equals to a second number of symbols comprised in the communication resource in time domain. In such embodiments, the sensing resource and the communication resource may comprise the same number of symbols in time domain.

[0187] In some embodiments, in order to determine the first size of the sensing resource based on the second size of the communication resource, the first device may determine a third number of frequency domain resource units comprised in the sensing resource is an integer multiple of a fourth number of frequency domain resource units comprised in the communication resource in frequency domain.

[0188] In some embodiments, the frequency domain resource units may comprise RBs or sub-carriers.

[0189] Consider a fifth example. In the fifth example, for a cell common periodic sensing signal transmissions, the first size of the sensing resource is pre-configured in system information block (SIB) . The first size of the sensing resource is 2 symbols in time domain and 100 RBs in frequency domain. A period of the sensing signal is 160ms. Then, a network  device should transmit the sensing signal with the assigned period and the first size.

[0190] In some embodiments, in order to determine the sensing resource, the first device may determine a first allocation of the sensing resource based on a second allocation of a communication resource for the donor communication signal. In such embodiments, the first device may locate the sensing resource based on the communication resource, which may benefit sensing resource coordination in an ISAC system. In addition, such embodiments may provide the first allocation of the sensing resource with less complexity and signalling overhead.

[0191] In some embodiments, a mapping between the first allocation of the sensing resource and the second allocation of the communication resource may be pre-defined, configured or pre-configured. For example, the mapping may be pre-defined, configured or pre-configured in an ISAC system.

[0192] In some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing resource, the first device may determine a first period of sensing resources for the sensing signal. In some embodiments, the first period of sensing resources for the sensing signal may be configured or pre-configured

[0193] In some embodiments, the first period of sensing resources for the sensing signal equals to an integer multiple of a second period of communication resources for the donor communication signal. In such embodiments, the value of the integer multiple of the second period may be configured or pre-configured.

[0194] In some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing resource in time domain, the first device may determine the sensing resource comprises the same symbols or slots as the communication resource. This will be described later with reference to Figs. 3A, 3B and 3C.

[0195] Alternatively, in some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing resource in time domain, the first device may determine the sensing resource is adjacent to the communication resource in time domain. This will be described later with reference to Fig. 4C.

[0196] Alternatively, in some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing resource in time domain, the first device may determine a symbol offset or a slot offset between the sensing resource and the communication resource. In such embodiments, the first device may determine the sensing resource based on the symbol offset or the slot offset and the communication resource. This will be described later with reference to Fig. 4D.

[0197] In some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing  resource in frequency domain, the first device may determine the sensing resource is adjacent to the communication resource in frequency domain. This will be described later with reference to Fig. 4B.

[0198] Alternatively, in some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing resource in frequency domain, the first device may determine the sensing resource has the same central frequency as the communication resource. This will be described later with reference to Figs. 3B and 3C.

[0199] Alternatively, in some embodiments, in order to determine the first allocation of the sensing resource in frequency domain, the first device may determine an RB offset or a sub-carrier offset between the sensing resource and the communication resource. In such embodiments, the first device may determine the sensing resource based on the RB offset or the sub-carrier offset and the communication resource.

[0200] Fig. 3A illustrates an example of the second allocation of the communication resource for the donor communication signal in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 3A, SSB is assigned as the donor communication signal for the sensing signal.

[0201] As shown in Fig. 3A, SSB may comprise a primary synchronization signal (PSS) , a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) .

[0202] A communication resource for SSB may comprise 20 RBs and 4 symbols. PSS is transmitted on the first symbol among the 4 symbols, SSS is transmitted on the third symbol, and PBCH is transmitted on the second to the fourth symbols.

[0203] Figs. 3B and 3C illustrate an example of the first allocation of the sensing resource in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, respectively.

[0204] In the examples of Figs. 3B and 3C, for an ISAC system, a network device should transmit a periodic sensing signal. According to pre-definition in the ISAC system, SSB is assigned as the donor communication signal for the sensing signal. The sensing signal is configured as QCL type A with SSB. For the sensing signal, the first size of the sensing resource is pre-configured as one symbol and 100 RBs.

[0205] In the example of Fig. 3B, the mapping between the first allocation of the sensing resource for the sensing signal and the second allocation of the communication resource for SSB is pre-defined as below:

[0206] ● the first period of sensing resources for the sensing signal equals to the second period of communication resources for SSB,

[0207] ● the sensing resource comprises the same symbol as the communication resource for PSS, i.e., the sensing resource comprises the first symbol for SSB;

[0208] ● the sensing resource has the same central frequency as the communication resource for SSB;

[0209] ● the sensing resource has the same sub-carrier spacing (SCS) as the communication resource for SSB;

[0210] ● RBs used for SSB are punctured in transmission of the sensing signal, wherein the sensing signal occupies 80 RBs.

[0211] The example of Fig. 3C is similar to the example of Fig. 3B. The example of Fig. 3C is different from the example of Fig. 3B in that the sensing resource comprises the last symbol as the communication resource for PBCH, i.e., the sensing resource comprises the last symbol for SSB.

[0212] Fig. 4A illustrates an example of the second allocation of the communication resource for the donor communication signal in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 4A, PRS is assigned as the donor communication signal for the sensing signal.

[0213] As shown in Fig. 4A, a DL-PRS Resource comprises dedicated symbols in time domain (also referred to as PRS symbols) .

[0214] PRS may be configured by a PRS resource configuration in PosSIB. The PRS resource configuration may comprise the second allocation of the communication resource for PRS. The second allocation of the communication resource for PRS may comprise a PRS frequency layer configuration and a PRS configuration per TRP.

[0215] The PRS frequency layer configuration may comprise a bandwidth and a comb for PRS. For example, as shown in Fig. 4A, the comb is equal to 2. Thus, resource element (RE) offsets for PRS are equal to 0 and 1.

[0216] The PRS configuration per TRP may comprise a DL-PRS-ID, a DL-PRS Resource Set ID, and a DL-PRS Resource ID. The DL-PRS-ID indicates an ID of a TRP transmitting the PRS. The DL-PRS-ID is used along with the DL-PRS Resource Set ID and the DL-PRS Resource ID to uniquely identify a DL-PRS Resource. The DL-PRS Resource Set ID indicates a DL-PRS Resource Set for PRS. The DL-PRS Resource ID indicates a DL-PRS resource for PRS in the DL-PRS Resource Set indicated by the DL-PRS Resource Set ID.

[0217] For example, as shown in Fig. 4A, a DL-PRS Resource ID is 0 (i.e., DL-PRS Resource ID #0) and another DL-PRS Resource ID is 1 (i.e., DL-PRS Resource ID #1) . For  DL-PRS Resource ID #0, a symbol offset is equal to 0. For DL-PRS Resource ID #1, a symbol offset is equal to 6.

[0218] Figs. 4B, 4C and 4D illustrate an example of the first allocation of the sensing resource in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, respectively.

[0219] In the examples of Figs. 4B and 4C, for an ISAC system, a network device should transmit a periodic sensing signal. According to pre-definition in the ISAC system, PRS is assigned as the donor communication signal for the sensing signal. The PRS is configured by the following: a PRS frequency layer configuration, a DL-PRS-ID, a DL-PRS Resource Set ID, and a DL-PRS Resource ID.

[0220] The sensing signal is configured as QCL type A and QCL type D with PRS.

[0221] The example of Fig. 4B, for the sensing signal, the first size of the sensing resource is pre-configured as 2 symbols and n RBs. The mapping between the first allocation of the sensing resource for the sensing signal and the second allocation of the communication resource for PRS is pre-defined as below:

[0222] ● the sensing resource comprises the first two symbols of the PRS symbols, e.g., 4 symbols for PRS;

[0223] ● the sensing resource has the same SCS as the DL-PRS Resource for PRS;

[0224] ● the sensing resource comprises RBs adjacent to RBs for PRS in frequency domain. For example, PRS is transmitted on RBs with index [0, …, M-1] , and the sensing signal is transmitted on RBs with index [M, …, M+n-1] .

[0225] The example of Fig. 4C is similar to the example of Fig. 4B. The example of Fig. 4C is different from the example of Fig. 4B in the mapping between the first allocation of the sensing resource for the sensing signal and the second allocation of the communication resource for PRS.

[0226] In the example of Fig. 4C, the mapping is configured by a sensing function (SF) as below:

[0227] ● a first period of sensing resources for the sensing signal equals to a second period of communication resources for PRS;

[0228] ● the sensing resource comprises symbols adjacent to PRS symbols. For example, each DL-PRS Resource for PRS comprises 2 PRS symbols, and the sensing resource comprises 2 symbols adjacent to the 2 PRS symbols for each DL-PRS Resource.

[0229] The example of Fig. 4D is similar to the example of Fig. 4C. The example of Fig.  4D is different from the example of Fig. 4C in the mapping between the first allocation of the sensing resource for the sensing signal and the second allocation of the communication resource for PRS.

[0230] In the example of Fig. 4D, the mapping is configured by a sensing function (SF) as below: a symbol offset (represented by k) between the sensing resource and the DL-PRS Resource is equal to 7. For example, each DL-PRS Resource for PRS comprises 4 PRS symbols, the sensing resource comprises 2 symbols for each DL-PRS Resource, and the symbol offset between a starting symbol of the PRS symbols and a starting symbol of the sensing resource is 7.

[0231] In some embodiments, for periodic sensing signal transmissions, some of the sensing signal may not be transmitted according to a muting pattern. In such embodiments, the first device may determine the sensing resource based on a muting pattern of the sensing signal. Such embodiments may provide flexible sensing signal transmission opportunities and avoid impact on communication signal transmissions.

[0232] In some embodiments, the muting pattern of the sensing signal may be configured or pre-configured based on allocation of the sensing resource.

[0233] In some embodiments, the muting pattern of the sensing signal may be configured or pre-configured by at least one bitmap.

[0234] In some embodiments, the at least one bitmap may comprise a first bitmap. Each bit in the first bitmap may be associated with one period of sensing resources for the sensing signal and may indicate whether the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in the period. This will be described later with reference to Fig. 5A.

[0235] Fig. 5A illustrates an example of a muting pattern of a sensing signal in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 5A, the first device may determine the first allocation of the sensing resource based on the second allocation of the communication resource for the donor communication signal. The donor communication signal is PRS. A period of communication resources for PRS is equal to 80ms and there are 4 PRS resources per period. Sensing resources comprise the same symbols as the communication resources for PRS. Thus, a period of the sensing resources is also equal to 80ms and there are 4 sensing resources per period.

[0236] The muting pattern of the sensing signal is configured by the first bitmap. A length of the first bitmap is equal to 4. Each bit in the first bitmap is associated with one period of sensing resources and indicates whether the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in the period. A bit in the first bitmap set to “1” indicates the sensing  signal is allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in a respective period, and the bit set to “0” indicates the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in the respective period.

[0237] For example, bits in the first bitmap are set to “0010” , which indicates that the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in a period #2 and the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in each of periods #0, #1, #3.

[0238] In some embodiments, the at least one bitmap may comprise a second bitmap. Each bit in the second bitmap may be associated with one sensing resource in a period of sensing resources for the sensing signal and may indicate whether the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on the one sensing resource. In such embodiments, a length of the second bitmap may be equal to the number of sensing resources assigned in the period. This will be described later with reference to Fig. 5B.

[0239] Fig. 5B illustrates an example of a muting pattern of a sensing signal in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 5B, the first device may determine the first allocation of the sensing resource based on the second allocation of the communication resource for the donor communication signal.

[0240] The muting pattern of the sensing signal is configured by the second bitmap. A length of the second bitmap is equal to the number of sensing resources in a period, i.e., the length of the second bitmap is equal to 4.

[0241] Each bit in the second bitmap is associated with one sensing resource in a period and indicates whether the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on the one sensing resource. A bit in the second bitmap set to “1” indicates the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on the one sensing resource in the period, and the bit set to “0” indicates the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on the one sensing resource.

[0242] For example, bits in the second bitmap are set to “0010” , which indicates that the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on a sensing resource with an index of 2 in a period and the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on other sensing resources in the period.

[0243] Fig. 5C illustrates an example of a muting pattern of a sensing signal in accordance  with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 5C, the first device may determine the first allocation of the sensing resource based on the second allocation of the communication resource for the donor communication signal.

[0244] The muting pattern of the sensing signal is configured by the first bitmap and the second bitmap. A length of the second bitmap is equal to the number of sensing resources in a period, i.e., the length of the second bitmap is equal to 4.

[0245] For example, bits in the first bitmap are set to “1100” , which indicates that the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on at least one sensing resource in each of periods #0 and #1, and the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in each of periods #2 and #3. In other words, periods #0 and #1 are available sensing periods and periods #2 and #3 are muted periods.

[0246] For example, bits in the second bitmap are set to “0010” , which indicates that the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on a sensing resource with an index of 2 in an available sensing period and the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on other sensing resources in the available sensing period.

[0247] In some embodiments, the first device may perform an integrated transmission of the sensing signal and the donor communication signal, wherein the donor communication signal is an SSB or PRS. For example, the first device may perform an integrated transmission of a cell common periodic sensing signal and SSB or PRS.

[0248] In such embodiments, the first device may determine the sensing resource has the same central frequency as the communication resource. The first device may also determine a first period of sensing resources for the sensing signal equals to a second period of communication resources for the SSB. The first device may also determine the sensing resource to be within symbols comprised in the communication resource in time domain. The first device may transmit the sensing signal based on a QCL relationship between the sensing signal and the SSB or PRS. Such embodiments may provide resource allocation for transmission of the communication signal and the sensing signal with less complexity. In addition, such embodiments may benefit resource allocation coordination in an ISAC system and benefit sensing signal receiving and detecting.

[0249] In such embodiments, the same beam configuration may be used for the sensing  signal and the SSB or PRS.

[0250] In such embodiments, for each sensing signal, a size of a sensing resource can be independently pre-configured.

[0251] Fig. 6A illustrates an example of the first allocation of the sensing resource in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 6A, in an ISAC system, the first device performs an integrated transmission of a cell common sensing signal and SSB.

[0252] In time domain, the first size of the sensing resource for the cell common sensing signal is pre-configured as 2 symbols. The sensing resource comprises the same symbols as the communication resources for PSS and SSS.

[0253] In frequency domain, the first size of the sensing resource is pre-configured as N kHz. Both the sensing resource and the communication resources for SSB use Global Synchronization Channel Number (GSCN) as a central frequency, and each N / 2 kHz is located from a starting RB and an end RB of SSB.

[0254] Figs. 6B and 6C illustrate an example of an integrated transmission of the cell common sensing signal and SSB in Fig. 6A in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, respectively.

[0255] As shown in Fig. 6B, the same beamforming is used for transmission of the cell common sensing signal and for transmission of SSB. The sensing signal is transmitted along with each SSB transmission.

[0256] The sensing signal is generated based on PSS or SSS. For example, the sensing signal uses the same sequence of PSS or SSS, or uses an extended sequence which is basically generated from PSS or SSS.

[0257] The example of Fig. 6C is similar to the example of Fig. 6B. The example of Fig. 6C is different from the example of Fig. 6B in that a muting pattern of the sensing signal is configured by the first bitmap.

[0258] For example, bits in the first bitmap are set to “1010” , which indicates that the sensing signal is allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in each of periods #0 and #2 and the sensing signal is not allowed to be transmitted on all of the sensing resources in each of periods #1 and #3. In other words, every two periods of SSB transmission, sensing signals are transmitted within one period.

[0259] Fig. 7 is a simplified block diagram of a device 700 that is suitable for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure. The device 700 can be considered as a further example embodiment of the first device. Accordingly, the device 700 can be implemented at  or as at least a part of the first device.

[0260] As shown, the device 700 includes a processor 710, a memory 720 coupled to the processor 710, a suitable transceiver 740 coupled to the processor 710, and a communication interface coupled to the transceiver 740. The memory 710 stores at least a part of a program 730. The transceiver 740 may be for bidirectional communications or a unidirectional communication based on requirements. The transceiver 740 may include at least one of a transmitter 742 and a receiver 744. The transmitter 742 and the receiver 744 may be functional modules or physical entities. The transceiver 740 has at least one antenna to facilitate communication, though in practice an Access Node mentioned in this application may have several ones. The communication interface may represent any interface that is necessary for communication with other network elements, such as X2 / Xn interface for bidirectional communications between eNBs / gNBs, S1 / NG interface for communication between a Mobility Management Entity (MME)  / Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF)  / SGW / UPF and the eNB / gNB, Un interface for communication between the eNB / gNB and a relay node (RN) , or Uu interface for communication between the eNB / gNB and a terminal device.

[0261] In summary, embodiments of the present disclosure may provide the following solutions.

[0262] In a first aspect, there is provided a first device. The first device comprises a processor. The processor is configured to cause the first device to: determine a sensing signal and a donor communication signal; determine a sensing resource for transmission of the sensing signal based on a communication resource for transmission of the donor communication signal; and transmit the sensing signal on the sensing resource.
