Abstract

Methods and systems are described for generating and detecting phase-modulated waveforms for low power devices such as wake-up receivers, zero energy devices, ambient Internet of Things devices, and others. In certain embodiments, the primary information is modulated to be detectable by simple non-coherent envelope detection, such as by simple low power receivers. However, embodiments can exploit the extra degree of freedom in the transmit signal phase to enhance the detection performance, improve the spectral efficiency, and / or extend the coverage capabilities for advanced low-power receivers. By leveraging the phase component of the transmit signal, certain embodiments can optimize the performance of low-power receivers, ensuring efficient information extraction and improving the overall system's capabilities.
