Abstract

The present disclosure provides a data packet discard processing method and apparatus, a terminal, and a network side device. The method comprises: a first protocol layer of a terminal determining a first data packet; and, for the first data packet, the first protocol layer of the terminal performing a first operation, the first operation comprising at least one of the following: discarding the first data packet; transmitting first indication information to a higher layer of the first protocol layer, the first indication information being used to indicate that the first protocol layer has discarded the first data packet; transmitting second instruction information to a higher layer of the first protocol layer, the second instruction information being used to instruct the higher layer to discard other data packets belonging to a same PDU set as the first data packet; and discarding other received data packets that belong to a same PDU set as the first data packet.
