[0049] In some example embodiments, a link from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the terminal device 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0050] The communications in the communication environment 100 may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0051] Taking an AI / ML model as an example, in the communication environment 100, an AI / ML model can be applied to different scenarios to achieve better performances.

[0052] AI / ML general framework for one-sided AI / ML models relates to various aspects such as signalling and protocol of LCM enabling functionality and model (if justified) selection, activation, deactivation, switching, fallback. Identification related signalling is part of the above objective. Necessary signalling / mechanism (s) for LCM to facilitate model training, inference, performance monitoring, data collection (except for the purpose of Core Network (CN)  / Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM)  / Over-The-Top (OTT) collection of UE-sided model training data) for both UE-sided and NW-sided models. AI / ML general framework for one-sided AI / ML models further relates to signalling mechanism of applicable functionalities / models.

[0053] Regarding beam management (BM) , DL Tx beam prediction for both UE-sided model and NW-sided model includes for example spatial-domain DL Tx beam prediction for Set A of beams based on measurement results of Set B of beams ( “BM-Case1” ) and  temporal DL Tx beam prediction for Set A of beams based on the historic measurement results of Set B of beams ( “BM-Case2” ) . Further, necessary signalling / mechanism (s) is specified to facilitate LCM operations specific to the Beam Management use cases, if any. Method (s) is enabled to ensure consistency between training and inference regarding NW-side additional conditions (if identified) for inference at UE. Common framework design is expected to support both BM-Case1 and BM-Case2.

[0054] In some solutions, positioning accuracy enhancements include direct AI / ML positioning and AI / ML assisted positioning. There are some use cases for direct AI / ML positioning. For example, Case 1, which may have the 1st priority, relates to UE-based positioning with UE-side model. Case 2b, which may have the 2nd priority, relates to UE-assisted / LMF-based positioning with LMF-side model. Case 3b, which may have the 1st priority, relates to NG-RAN node assisted positioning with LMF-side model. Regarding AI / ML assisted positioning, Case 2a, which may have the 2nd priority, relates to UE-assisted / LMF-based positioning with UE-side model; Case 3a, which may have the 1st priority, relates to NG-RAN node assisted positioning with gNB-side model.

[0055] Further, necessary measurements, signalling / mechanism (s) are specified to facilitate LCM operations specific to the Positioning accuracy enhancements use cases (if any) . The necessary signalling of necessary measurement enhancements is investigated and specified (if any) . Method (s) is enabled to ensure consistency between training and inference regarding NW-side additional conditions (if identified) for inference at UE for relevant positioning sub use cases.

[0056] Some objectives with corresponding checkpoints are studied, such as channel state information (CSI) feedback enhancement, necessity and details of model identification concept and procedure in the context of LCM, CN / OAM / OTT collection of UE-sided model training data, Model transfer / delivery, testability and interoperability, etc.

[0057] CSI feedback enhancement relates to CSI compression (two-sided model) and CSI prediction (UE-sided model) . For CSI compression, ways are further studied to improve trade-off between performance and complexity / overhead (such as considering extending the spatial / frequency compression to spatial / temporal / frequency compression, cell / side specific models, CSI compression plus prediction (compared to non-AI / ML based approach) , etc. ) and alleviate / resolve issues related to inter-vendor training collaboration.

[0058] For CSI prediction, performance gain over non-AI / ML based approach and associated complexity are further studied, and other aspects requiring further study / conclusion are addressed (e.g., a cell / site specific model could be considered to improve performance gain) .

[0059] For the FS_NR_AIML_Air study use cases, the corresponding contents of UE data collection may be identified. The UE data collection mechanisms identified during the FS_NR_AIML_Air study along with the implications and limitations of each of the methods may be analyzed. It is determined whether there is a need to consider standardized solutions for transferring / delivering AI / ML model (s) considering at least the solutions identified during the FS_NR_AIML_Air study.

[0060] The testing framework and procedure for one-sided models may be finalized and the various testing options for two-sided models may be further analyzed, including at least: relation to legacy requirements, performance monitoring and LCM aspects considering use-case specifics, static / non-static scenarios / conditions and propagation conditions for testing (e.g., Cluster Delay Line (CDL) , field data, etc. ) , UE processing capability and limitations, post-deployment validation due to model change / drift. Aspects related to testability and interoperability may be addressed on a request basis.

[0061] There are agreements for LCM for NW-sided model. For example, UE will not be informed about any gNB / LMF-sided model / functionality management decision (e.g., selection, (de) activation, switching, fallback, etc. ) . UE will not be involved in any gNB / LMF-sided model / functionality management decision making (e.g., selection, (de) activation, switching, fallback, etc. ) , except being configured to provide the required measurement / data. The data collection procedure is focused on from UE to NW (e.g., gNB, LMF, or OAM) for the sake of NW-sided model LCM (including training, inference, management) .

[0062] There are agreements for positioning related. For example, a radio resource control (RRC) configuration is considered to configure radio measurements and the related reporting to enable data collection for NW-side training. For AI / ML based beam management, it is assumed that the L1 measurement framework shall be used for configuring the input data of the NW side AI / ML model inference. There is no specification impact associated to gNB-side model inference, depending on further input.

[0063] For positioning, it is assumed that gNB or LMF could perform performance  monitoring for case 3a and LMF is responsible for the performance monitoring for case 3b.It is further assumed that NRPPa is used for the signalling between gNB and LMF for case 3a and 3b.

[0064] The LPP Capability Transfer procedures (RequestCapabilities / ProvideCapabilities messages) are used to indicate supported AI / ML positioning capabilities. At least for Case 1, existing LPP procedures related to Location Information Transfer (RequestLocationInformation / ProvideLocationInformation messages) are used for providing the results of the UE sided model inference operation.

[0065] Some solutions are proposed for LCM for UE-sided model. Which AI / ML-enabled Features / Feature groups (FGs) and functionalities are supported should be standardized. “Supported” means that the UE is capable of supporting the functionality and doesn’ t mean necessarily that the UE has the model available. Supported AI / ML enabled Features / FGs and supported functionalities are included in UE capability. Support proactive reporting of UE-sided applicable functionality, e.g., the UE reports its applicable AI / ML functionalities via UE Assistance Information (UAI) message / Long Term Evolution Positioning Protocol (LPP) message. Support reactive reporting of UE-sided applicable functionality. The NW configures AI / ML functionalities via RRC / LPP message. For UE-sided model, for the functionality management, the “network decision, network-initiated” AI / ML management is supported as a baseline. The following can be considered further “UE autonomous, decision reported to the network” , “Network decision, UE-initiated” (i.e., proactive approach) .

[0066] Some solutions are proposed for NW side data collection. For example, for the NW-side data collection related to beam management use cases, gNB-centric and OAM-centric approaches are considered. The same measurement framework may be applied to both gNB-centric data collection and OAM-centric data collection for NW-side data collection. Enhancements to Minimization Drive Test (MDT) may be supported for data collection framework for training.

[0067] For gNB centric and OAM centric (for RRC signaling between UE and gNB) , reporting multiple instances of logged L1 measurement result from UE to gNB via a RRC message as configured by gNB is an optional feature.

[0068] Immediate MDT is the baseline framework for OAM-centric data collection for  the training of a network-sided model. The immediate MDT framework may be enhanced to support periodical reporting.

[0069] For the network-side model, required network side additional condition is left up to the network implementation. For network-sided model for BM use case, it is confirmed that UE inputs for inference at network-sided model will rely on L1 signaling. The gNB is responsible for monitoring its own performance.

[0070] There are agreements for UE side additional / applicability conditions and NW-side additional conditions. For example, functionality activation / deactivation after inference configuration may be supported. The UE will indicate the gNB / LMF whether the AI / ML functionality is available / applicable. For a functionality to be applicable at least there should at least one model available within it.

[0071] Further, it is assumed that RRC signaling from gNB to UE can be designed for consistency between inference and training. For BM use case, as a baseline the UE determines whether a functionality is applicable. Existing UAI framework is used at least for proactive reporting of applicable functionality.

[0072] The above described solutions are related to AI / ML model / functionality and LCM. Considering the limitations of UE resource, including power, memory buffer, radio resource and CPU capacity, it is inefficient for the UE to resume from an LCM interruption. For instance, if the UE is in the process of delivering a model towards the network and is instructed by the network to fallback to a traditional approach, in such a case, it needs to cancel the ongoing model delivery. Later, if the network instructs the UE to re-perform model delivery, the UE needs to re-transmit the entire model, resulting in unnecessary radio resource consumption. Therefore, it is expected to provide a solution for recording the UE’s LCM status upon encountering an LCM interruption.

[0073] Given that, embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for LCM procedure suspension in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. A terminal device receives, from a network device, a first indication associated with deactivation of an AI / ML model entity. The terminal device, in response to the first indication, suspends an LCM procedure for the AI / ML model entity. The terminal device performs at least one of storing information related to a progress of the LCM procedure or transmitting the information to the network device. By storing information related to the progress of the LCM procedure or transmitting the information to the network device,  the terminal device can continue with the previous interruption when instructed to resume the LCM procedure, including but not limited to, model training, model transfer / deliver and performance monitoring.

[0074] Reference is now made to FIG. 2, which illustrates a signaling flow 200 of LCM procedure suspension in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 200 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0075] As shown in FIG. 2, for LCM procedure suspension, the network device 120 transmits 202 a first indication associated with deactivation of an AI / ML model entity to the terminal device 110. For example, the first indication may instruct the terminal device 110 to suspend an LCM procedure for the AI / ML model entity and wait for a further indication.

[0076] In some embodiments, the LCM procedure may comprise at least one of: a training of the AI / ML model entity, a transfer of the AI / ML model entity from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110, a delivery of the AI / ML model entity from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120, or a performance monitoring on the AI / ML model entity. For example, an LCM procedure comprises at least one of AI / ML model / functionality entity training, AI / ML model / functionality entity transfer / delivery or AI / ML model / functionality entity performance monitoring.

[0077] In some embodiments, the LCM procedure may comprise data collection for the AI / ML model entity training or an inference of the AI / ML model entity.

[0078] In some embodiments, the first indication may be an explicit indication. For example, the first indication may instruct the terminal device 110 to suspend the LCM procedure for a while and resume the LCM procedure later.

[0079] In some embodiments, the first indication may indicate at least one of: a deactivation of the AI / ML model entity, an interruption of the AI / ML model entity, a switching from the AI / ML model entity to a further AI / ML model entity, a fallback to a mode without AI / ML, or a restart of the AI / ML model entity.

[0080] For example, the terminal device 110 is performing a training of the AI / ML model entity. If the terminal device 110 receives the first indication indicating a fallback to a mode without AI / ML, it may interrupt the AI / ML model entity and fallback to a legacy mode.

[0081] As an example, the first indication may include at least one of: an AI / ML model deactivation indication, an AI / ML model interruption indication, an AI / ML model switching indication, or an AI / ML model fallback indication. Optionally, the AI / ML model interruption indication may belong to the AI / ML model deactivation indication, the AI / ML model switching indication and the AI / ML model fallback indication.

[0082] The terminal device 110 receives 204 the first indication. In response to the first indication, the terminal device 110 suspends 206 the LCM procedure for the AI / ML model entity. If the terminal device 110 receives the first indication from the network device 120, it may further receive information to determine whether to trigger the AI / ML entity, for example, fallback or switching.

[0083] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive an indication of a duration for LCM suspension of the AI / ML model entity from the network device 120. For example, during the specified duration, the terminal device 110 maintains the LCM suspension and waits for a further indication from the network device 120. The following will describe how to perform LCM suspension in detail.

[0084] Alternatively, or in addition, the terminal device 110 may receive a cause value for LCM suspension from the network device 120. For example, the cause value may include at least one of: an AI / ML model entity interruption cause value to indicate that there would be a following AI / ML model entity interruption procedure for the terminal device 110, an AI / ML model entity switching cause value to indicate that there would be a following AI / ML model entity switching procedure for the terminal device 110, or an AI / ML model entity fallback cause value to indicate that there would be a following AI / ML model entity fallback procedure for the terminal device 110.

[0085] Alternatively, or in addition, the terminal device 110 may receive identifications of one or more associated AI / ML entities. For example, the terminal device 110 may receive an identification of the current AI / ML model entity to indicate that there would be a following AI / ML model entity resume procedure. For another example, the terminal device 110 may receive an identification of a further AI / ML model entity to indicate that there would be a following AI / ML model entity switching procedure.

[0086] Alternatively, or in addition, the terminal device 110 may receive an association identification for one or more AI / ML model entity from the network device 120. The network device 120 may assign identifications for various network parameters (e.g.,  related to cell coverage) related to an AI / ML model entity. For example, an association identification may correspond to a RSRP, the number of terminal devices in the cell 102 and an identification of an AI / ML model entity associated. If the terminal device 110 receives such association identification, it may determine on which AI / ML model entity to perform operations.

[0087] In some embodiments, the abovementioned indication may be sent via at least one of: DL medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) , downlink control information (DCI) or RRC message.

[0088] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may configure a corresponding timer (e.g., timer X) toward the terminal device 110. The configuration information may include a trigger condition of the timer X. For example, the trigger condition of the timer X may be when the terminal device 110 receives the first indication. Alternatively, the configuration information may include a stop condition of the timer X. For example, the stop condition of the timer X may be when the terminal device 110 receives the second indication from the network device 120 for LCM resume. When the timer X is expired, the terminal device 110 may restart LCM operation.

[0089] Turning to FIG. 2, the terminal device 110 stores 208 information related to a progress of the LCM procedure. Optionally, the terminal device 110 transmits 210 the information to the network device 120 and the network device 120 receives the information. In this way, the information related to a progress of the LCM procedure will be saved. Upon determining further operations, the terminal device 110 may obtain the information efficiently. The following will describe how to process the information in detail.

[0090] In view of above, the network device 120 transmits the first indication to instruct the terminal device 110 to suspend the LCM procedure. The first indication is initiated by the network device. Alternatively, the first indication may be triggered in response to a request from the terminal device 110.

[0091] In some embodiment, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, a request to interrupt the AI / ML model entity. The first indication may comprise a confirmation for the request. For example, the terminal device 110 transmits a request autonomously. If the network device 120 receives such request, it may provide confirmation indication.

[0092] The terminal device 110 may transmit its capability information for an interruption of one or more AI / ML entities to the network device 120. For example, the capability information may include a maximum duration of interruption it can support. Additionally, the capability information may indicate for each AI / ML model entity whether the terminal device 110 can support an LCM interruption, an LCM resume, or both.

[0093] In some embodiment, the capability information may be transmitted through at least one of: proactive applicable functionality reporting, reactive applicable functionality reporting, or capability transfer for the terminal device 110.

[0094] Next, the following will describe how the terminal device 110 performs LCM suspension and process the related information in detail.

[0095] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may perform an operation related to the progress of the LCM procedure based on a running state of a first timer which is started upon receiving the first indication. For example, if the terminal device 110 receives the first indication, it may start a corresponding timer.

[0096] Alternatively, or in addition, the terminal device 110 may perform an operation related to the progress of the LCM procedure based on a second indication associated with AI / ML model entity activation.

[0097] In some embodiments, the second indication comprises at least one of: an LCM resume indication, or an LCM restart indication. The LCM resume indication may instruct the terminal device 110 to continue with the previous operation after interruption. The LCM restart indication may instruct the terminal device 110 to perform the previous operation from the beginning.

[0098] In some embodiments, in response to receiving the second indication, the terminal device 110 may stop the first timer. Continue with the example above, within the timer duration, if the terminal device 110 receives a further indication, it may stop the corresponding timer.

[0099] In some embodiments, in response to the first timer being expired, the terminal device 110 may perform a fallback to a mode without AI / ML or a restart of the AI / ML model entity. The terminal device 110 may remove the stored information related to the progress of the LCM procedure. For example, if the first timer is expired and the terminal device 110 does not receive any other AI / ML model entity activation indication, the  terminal device 110 may regard it as one AI / ML model entity fallback procedure. Then it may fallback to legacy, i.e., stop the current AI / ML model entity.

[0100] In some embodiments, in response to receiving the second indication for the AI / ML model entity within a duration of the first timer, the terminal device 110 may perform a resume of the AI / ML model entity based on the stored information related to the progress of the LCM procedure. For example, within the first timer duration, if the terminal device 110 receives the second indication, it may stop the first timer. Further, if the same AI / ML model entity is activated, the terminal device 110 may regard it as one AI / ML model entity interruption procedure. The terminal device 110 may perform a resume of the AI / ML model entity with the related information which is stored locally or applied from the network device 120.

[0101] In some embodiments, in response to receiving the second indication for a further AI / ML model entity within a duration of the first timer, the terminal device 110 may perform a restart of the AI / ML model entity or switch to the further AI / ML model entity. The terminal device 110 may remove the stored information related to the progress of the LCM procedure. Continue with the example above, if a different AI / ML model entity is activated, the terminal device 110 may regard it as one AI / ML model entity switching procedure. Then the stored information is useless and may be removed from the local.

[0102] As described above, the LCM procedure may include a training, a transfer / delivery or a performance monitoring of the AI / ML model entity. There are different operations for different procedure. The following will describe respectively.

[0103] If the terminal device 110 is performing AI / ML model training, it may stop the training and start the timer X described above, if configured by the network device 120. Furthermore, the terminal device 110 may report the related information towards the network device 120.

[0104] In some embodiments, the LCM procedure may comprise a training of the AI / ML model entity, and the related information may comprise a current version of the AI / ML model entity without completion of the training (e.g., the current version of the AI / ML model entity which is not well trained) .

[0105] Alternatively, or in addition, the related information may comprise training data  unused for the training of the AI / ML model entity (e.g., remained unused dataset) .

[0106] Alternatively, or in addition, the related information may comprise an indication of a duration spent for the training of the AI / ML model entity or an indication of a completion degree of the training of the AI / ML model entity (e.g., the accomplish scale for the current AI / ML model training) .

[0107] Alternatively, or in addition, the related information may comprise identifications of one or more associated AI / ML entities (e.g., an identification of the current AI / ML model entity or an identification of a further AI / ML model entity to be switched to) , or an indication of an expired time for the current version of the AI / ML model entity. The indication of the expired time is used to indicate after what time being, the current not-well trained AI / ML model entity may be expired and the terminal device 110 needs to restart the model training if the LCM procedure is resumed.

[0108] As mentioned above, the second indication may include an LCM resume indication or an LCM restart indication. The LCM resume indication and LCM restart indication may carry various information, respectively.

[0109] Optionally, the terminal device 110 may clear its buffer of the following if stored locally: a current version of the AI / ML model entity without completion of the training and training data unused for the training of the AI / ML model entity.

[0110] In some embodiments, the LCM resume indication may include at least one of: an identification of the AI / ML model entity (i.e., an identification of the current AI / ML model entity which should be the same as the one carried in the first indication) , an operation code representing LCM resume, a current version of the AI / ML model entity without completion of the training, training data unused for the training of the AI / ML model entity, an indication of a duration spent for the training of the AI / ML model entity, an indication of a completion degree of the training of the AI / ML model entity, identifications of one or more associated AI / ML entities, or an indication of an expired time for the current version of the AI / ML model entity.

[0111] In some embodiments, the LCM restart indication may include at least one of: an identification of the AI / ML model entity (i.e., an identification of the current AI / ML model entity) , identifications of one or more associated AI / ML entities (e.g., an identification of a different AI / ML model entity to be switched to) , or an operation code  representing LCM restart.

[0112] If the terminal device 110 is performing AI / ML model delivery or transfer, the LCM procedure may include a delivery of the AI / ML model entity from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120 or a transfer of the AI / ML model entity from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110.

[0113] In some embodiments, the stored or transmitted information may include at least one of: one or more segments of the AI / ML model entity not delivered to the network device if the LCM procedure comprises the delivery of the AI / ML model entity, one or more segments of the AI / ML model entity transferred from the network device if the LCM procedure comprises the transfer of the AI / ML model entity, the total number of segments of the AI / ML model entity, a data size of a segment of the AI / ML model entity, an index of a segment of the AI / ML model entity, or an identification of the AI / ML model entity.

[0114] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, at a protocol layer entity, the one or more segments of the AI / ML model entity.

[0115] As an example, the protocol layer entity may have functions, such as segmenting AI / ML model entity and indexing segments of the AI / ML model entity. Further, the protocol layer entity may buffer the segments of the AI / ML model entity which is not delivered for uplink transmission. For example, for each transmitted segment of the AI / ML model entity, if it has been transmitted or delivered, then it would be flushed from the buffer. The protocol layer entity may buffer the segments of the AI / ML model entity which is transferred for downlink transmission. For example, for each received segment of the AI / ML model entity, if it has been received or transferred, and not all segments of the AI / ML model entity have been received, it would be stored within the buffer locally. The protocol layer entity would not flush the buffer until all segments have been received.

[0116] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, an indication of a state for the delivery of the AI / ML model entity or the transfer of the AI / ML model entity. For example, when the protocol layer entity has been activated, it would send the transmission / reception segmentation status towards the network device 120 for continuous AI / ML model entity delivery / transfer for each AI / ML model entity configured by the network device 120.

[0117] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network  device 120, at least one of: a second timer for storage of the one or more segments of the AI / ML model entity, a data size for segmenting the AI / ML model entity, or a buffer channel configuration associated with the AI / ML model entity. The second timer may be used to indicate a duration of the segments of the AI / ML model entity can be stored within the buffer. If the terminal device 110 receives the first indication, it may start the second timer. If the second timer is expired, the terminal device 110 may flush the buffer. If the terminal device 110 receives the second indication (e.g., a resume indication) , it may stop the second timer.

[0118] If the terminal device 110 receives the first indication for all AI / ML model entities, it may deactivate the protocol layer entity with the buffer stored for each AI / ML model entity. The protocol layer entity may be set in a new protocol layer in some stack positions or set in some existing protocol stacks.

[0119] In some embodiments, the protocol layer entity may be included in at least one of:a Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP) protocol stack, a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) protocol stack, a Radio Link Control (RLC) protocol stack, a Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol stack, a protocol layer between the SDAP protocol stack and the PDCP protocol stack, a protocol layer between the PDCP protocol stack and the RLC protocol stack, a protocol layer between the RLC protocol stack and the MAC protocol stack, or a protocol layer between the MAC protocol stack and the Physical Layer (PHY) protocol stack.

[0120] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may report capability information towards the network device 120 before applying any configuration related to the protocol layer entity functionality.

[0121] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the network device 120, at least one of: a maximum data size supported by the terminal device 110 for AI / ML model entity segmentation, a maximum buffer size available for segments of each AI / ML model entity, the maximum number of segments of each AI / ML model entity, or the maximum number of AI / ML model entity segments supported by the terminal device 110 in total.

[0122] If the terminal device 110 is monitoring the AI / ML model entity performance, the LCM procedure may include a performance monitoring on the AI / ML model entity.

[0123] In some embodiments, the stored or transmitted information may include at least one of: a monitoring result, an indication of a progress the performance monitoring, the number of performance monitoring cycles which are performed by the terminal device 110, or an identification of the AI / ML model entity. The monitoring result may include the current performance monitoring result, which is calculated by the performance matrix monitored in the previous monitoring cycle. The monitoring result may further include a performance matrix monitored in the previous monitoring cycle. The indication of a progress the performance monitoring may be represented in a percentage value.

[0124] In some embodiments, before receiving the first indication, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, a configuration of a third timer for validity of historical monitoring information on the AI / ML model entity. The configuration may include information that the third timer is used to indicate the validate of the performance monitoring historical information. If the terminal device 110 receives the first indication, it may start the third timer. If the third timer is expired and the terminal device 110 still does not receive the corresponding LCM resume indication, it may not use the previous performance monitoring historical information anymore. If the terminal device 110 receives the corresponding LCM resume indication within the timer duration, it may stop the third timer.

[0125] Alternatively, or in addition, before receiving the first indication, the terminal device 110 may receive identifications of applicable AI / ML entities capable of LCM procedure suspension. For example, the terminal device 110 may receive an identification of a further AI / ML entity which can be used for LCM interruption / LCM resume operation.

[0126] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, an LCM resume indication for the AI / ML model entity, and transmit, to the network device 120, at least one of: an identification of the AI / ML model entity, a remaining timer duration if the third timer is not expired, or a timer expired indication if the third timer is expired.

[0127] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, at least one of: a monitoring result, an indication of a progress the performance monitoring (e.g., represented in a percentage value) , the number of performance monitoring cycles which are performed by the terminal device, or an identification of the AI / ML model entity. For example, the terminal device 110 may be configured with the  above parameters after its reporting for LCM resume and if the third timer is not expired. The previous unfinished monitoring result may include the current performance monitoring result, which is calculated by the performance matrix monitored in the previous monitoring cycle. The previous unfinished monitoring result may further include a performance matrix monitored in the previous monitoring cycle.

[0128] Alternatively, the terminal device 120 may restart the monitoring progress of the AI / ML model entity if the third timer is expired. For example, the terminal device 110 may be triggered with an LCM restart indication with an AI / ML model entity monitoring progress if the third timer is expired.

[0129] FIG. 3 illustrates a flowchart of a communication method 300 implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 300 will be described from the perspective of the terminal device 110 in FIG. 1.

[0139] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110, in response to the first timer being expired, performs a fallback to a mode without AI / ML or a restart of the AI / ML model entity; and removes the stored information related to the progress of the LCM procedure.

[0140] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110, in response to receiving the second indication for the AI / ML model entity within a duration of the first timer, performs a resume of the AI / ML model entity based on the stored information related to the progress of the LCM procedure.

[0141] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110, in response to receiving the second indication for a further AI / ML model entity within a duration of the first timer, performs a restart of the AI / ML model entity or switch to the further AI / ML model entity; and removes the stored information related to the progress of the LCM procedure.

[0142] In some example embodiments, the second indication comprises at least one of: an LCM resume indication, or an LCM restart indication.
