Abstract

Provided is a method for producing a coated substrate having excellent antiviral properties and antibacterial properties. Also provided is a coated substrate obtained by the method. The coated substrate comprises a substrate and a surfactant coated on a surface of the substrate. An element constituting the surfactant is covalently bonded to an element derived from the substrate, on the surface of the substrate. The covalent bond is selected from the group consisting of a carbon-carbon covalent bond, a carbon-nitrogen covalent bond, and a carbon-oxygen covalent bond. An analog of a compound having a biguanide-based structure is chlorhexidine.
