Description

UPLINK TRANSMISSIONTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to wireless communications, and more specifically to user equipment (UE) and method performed by the UE for supporting uplink (UL) transmission.BACKGROUND

[0002] A wireless communications system may include one or multiple network communication devices, such as base stations, which may be otherwise known as an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. Each network communication devices, such as a base station may support wireless communications for one or multiple user communication devices, which may be otherwise known as UE, or other suitable terminology. The wireless communications system may support wireless communications with one or multiple user communication devices by utilizing resources of the wireless communication system (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) . Additionally, the wireless communications system may support wireless communications across various radio access technologies including third generation (3G) radio access technology, fourth generation (4G) radio access technology, fifth generation (5G) radio access technology, among other suitable radio access technologies beyond 5G (e.g., sixth generation (6G) ) .

[0003] A UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise a first uplink (UL) transmission and a second UL transmission. A UE supporting the UE-initiated beam management procedure may be configured with discontinuous reception (DRX) . According to existing principles for UE DRX, only downlink (DL) reception is restricted by UE DRX. Among all possible physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission, only scheduling request (SR) PUCCH transmission related behaviour is defined when DRX is configured.

[0077] Principles of the present disclosure will now be described with reference to some embodiments. It is to be understood that these embodiments are described only for the purpose of illustration and help those skilled in the art to understand and implement the present disclosure, without suggesting any limitation as to the scope of the disclosure. The disclosure described herein may be implemented in various manners other than the ones described below.

[0078] In the following description and claims, unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skills in the art to which this disclosure belongs.

[0079] References in the present disclosure to “one embodiment, ” “an example embodiment, ” “an embodiment, ” “some embodiments, ” and the like indicate that the embodiment (s) described may include a particular feature, structure, or characteristic, but it is not necessary that every embodiment includes the particular feature, structure, or characteristic. Moreover, such phrases do not necessarily refer to the same embodiment (s) . Further, when a particular feature, structure, or characteristic is described in connection with an embodiment, it is submitted that it is within the knowledge of one skilled in the art to affect such feature, structure, or characteristic in connection with other embodiments whether or not explicitly described.

[0080] It shall be understood that although the terms “first” and “second” or the like may be used herein to describe various elements, these elements should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element from another element. For example, a first element could also be termed as a second element, and similarly, a second element could also be termed as a first element, without departing from the scope of embodiments. As used herein, the term “and / or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the listed terms.

[0081] The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of example embodiments. As used herein, the singular forms “a” , “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises” , “comprising” , “has” , “having” , “includes” and / or “including” , when used herein, specify the presence of stated features, elements, and / or components etc., but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, elements, components and / or combinations thereof.

[0082] As described above, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise a first UL transmission and a second UL transmission. A UE supporting the UE-initiated beam management procedure may be configured with DRX. To perform the retransmission of the first UL transmission and the following transmission of the second UL transmission, enhancement on DRX is needed.

[0083] In view of the above, the present disclosure provides a solution that supports UL transmission. In this solution, a UE receives a configuration for power saving of the UE from a base station. The configuration comprises at least one timer. The UE determines active time related to the configuration based on the at least one timer. In turn, the UE monitors a downlink control channel in the active time. With this solution, if the UE supporting the UE-initiated beam management procedure is configured with DRX, delay of the UE-initiated beam management procedure may be reduced.

[0084] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communications system.

[0085] Fig. 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 that supports UL transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one at least one of network entities 102 (also referred to as network equipment (NE) ) , one or more terminal devices or UEs 104, a core network 106, and a packet data network 108. The wireless communications system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 5G network, such as an NR network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including institute of electrical and electronics engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G. Additionally, the wireless communications system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0086] The network entities 102 may be collectively referred to as network entities 102 or individually referred to as a network entity 102. Hereinafter, some implementations of the present disclosure will be described by taking a base station as an example of the network entity 102. Thus, the network entity 102 may be used interchangeably with the base station 102.

[0087] The network entities 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communications system 100. One or more of the network entities 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station (BS) , a network element, a radio access network (RAN) node, a base transceiver station, an access point, a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. A network entity 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link 110, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, a network entity 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signalling, transmit signalling) over a Uu interface.

[0088] A network entity 102 may provide a geographic coverage area 112 for which the network entity 102 may support services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area 112. For example, a network entity 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, a network entity 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network. In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas 112 associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas 112 may be associated with different network entities 102. Information and signals described herein may be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, and chips that may be referenced throughout the description may be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0089] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a remote unit, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an internet-of-things (IoT) device, an internet-of-everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples. In some implementations, a UE 104 may be stationary in the wireless communications system 100. In some other implementations, a UE 104 may be mobile in the wireless communications system 100.

[0090] The one or more UEs 104 may be devices in different forms or having different capabilities. Some examples of UEs 104 are illustrated in Fig. 1. A UE 104 may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as the network entities 102, other UEs 104, or network equipment (e.g., the core network 106, the packet data network 108, a relay device, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, or another network equipment) , as shown in Fig. 1. Additionally, or alternatively, a UE 104 may support communication with other network entities 102 or UEs 104, which may act as relays in the wireless communications system 100.

[0091] A UE 104 may also be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link 114. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0092] A network entity 102 may support communications with the core network 106, or with another network entity 102, or both. For example, a network entity 102 may interface with the core network 106 through one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The network entities 102 may communicate with each other over the backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an X2, Xn, or another network interface) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., between the network entities 102) . In some other implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 106) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0093] In some implementations, the network entity 102 may be implemented as a satellite. For example, the network entity 102-1 may be implemented as a satellite. Thus, network entity 102-1 is also referred to as a satellite 102-1. The network entity 102-1 may have full or part of an eNB / gNB on board. The communication link 110 between the satellite 102-1 and the UE 104, the communication link 116 between the satellite 102-1 and the network entity 102, and the communication link 116 between the satellite 102-1 and the core network 106 may be used for a non-terrestrial network (NTN) transparent mode. The communication link 110 between the satellite 102-1 and the UE 104, and the communication link 116 between the satellite 102-1 (with a base station on board) and the core network 106 may be used for a NTN regenerative mode.

[0094] In some implementations, a network entity 102 may be configured in a disaggregated architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed among two or more network entities 102, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open radio access network (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance) , or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN) ) . For example, a network entity 102 may include one or more of a central unit (CU) , a distributed unit (DU) , a radio unit (RU) , a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) (e.g., a near-real time RIC (Near-RT RIC) , a non-real time RIC (Non-RT RIC) ) , a service management and orchestration (SMO) system, or any combination thereof.

[0095] An RU may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , or a transmission reception point (TRP) . One or more components of the network entities 102 in a disaggregated RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entities 102 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 of a disaggregated RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., a virtual CU (VCU) , a virtual DU (VDU) , a virtual RU (VRU) ) .

[0096] Split of functionality between a CU, a DU, and an RU may be flexible and may support different functionalities depending upon which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, radio frequency functions, and any combinations thereof) are performed at a CU, a DU, or an RU. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between a CU and a DU such that the CU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the DU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. In some implementations, the CU may host upper protocol layer (e.g., a layer 3 (L3) , a layer 2 (L2) ) functionality and signalling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) , service data adaption protocol (SDAP) , packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) ) . The CU may be connected to one or more DUs or RUs, and the one or more DUs or RUs may host lower protocol layers, such as a layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or an L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functionality and signalling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU 160.

[0097] Additionally, or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between a DU and an RU such that the DU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the RU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU may support one or multiple different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs) . In some implementations, a functional split between a CU and a DU, or between a DU and an RU may be within a protocol layer (e.g., some functions for a protocol layer may be performed by one of a CU, a DU, or an RU, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by a different one of the CU, the DU, or the RU) .

[0098] A CU may be functionally split further into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. A CU may be connected to one or more DUs via a midhaul communication link (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u) , and a DU may be connected to one or more RUs via a fronthaul communication link (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface) . In some implementations, a midhaul communication link or a fronthaul communication link may be implemented in accordance with an interface (e.g., a channel) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 102 that are in communication via such communication links.

[0099] The core network 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more network entities 102 associated with the core network 106.

[0100] The core network 106 may communicate with the packet data network 108 over one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network 108 may include an application server 118. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server 118. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the core network 106 via a network entity 102. The core network 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server 118 using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the core network 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the core network 106) .

[0101] In the wireless communications system 100, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0102] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0103] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0104] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0105] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (510 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0106] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0107] Fig. 2 illustrate a flowchart of a method 200 that supports UL transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In some implementations, the method 200 can be implemented at a UE, such as the UE 104 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 200 will be described with reference to Fig. 1.

[0108] At 210, the UE 104 receives, from the base station 102, a configuration for power saving of the UE 104. The configuration comprises at least one timer.

[0109] In some implementations, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may include but is not limited to a UE DRX configuration.

[0110] At 220, the UE 104 determines active time related to the configuration based on the at least one timer.

[0111] At 230, the UE 104 monitors a downlink control channel in the active time.

[0112] In some implementations, the downlink control channel may include but is not limited to PDCCH.

[0113] With the method 200, if the UE 104 supporting the UE-initiated beam management procedure is configured with UE DRX, delay of the UE-initiated beam management procedure may be reduced.

[0114] Fig. 3 illustrate a flowchart of a method 300 that supports UL transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In some implementations, the method 300 can be implemented at a UE, such as the UE 104 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 300 will be described with reference to Fig. 1.

[0115] At 310, the UE 104 receives, from the base station 102, a configuration for at least one UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0116] At 320, the UE 104 performs the at least one UL transmission to the base station 102 based on the configuration.

[0117] With the method 300, at least one UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure can be achieved.

[0118] In some implementations, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise a beam report transmission procedure for UE-initiated / event-driven beam reporting (UEIBR) .

[0119] In some implementations, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise a first UL transmission and a second UL transmission. The second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission.

[0120] In some implementations, the first UL transmission may comprise transmission on a first physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) . Hereinafter, some implementations of the present disclosure will be described by taking the first PUCCH as an example of the first UL transmission.

[0121] In some implementations, the second UL transmission may comprise transmission on a second physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) . For example, the second PUSCH may carry a beam report. Hereinafter, some implementations of the present disclosure will be described by taking the second PUSCH as an example of the second UL transmission.

[0122] In some implementations, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise a mode-A. For mode-A, one-bit indication in the first PUCCH may be used to request a resource for the second UL transmission to carry the beam report. In such implementations, at least a periodic PUCCH resource (with PUCCH format 0 / 1) is configured by a dedicated radio resource control (RRC) signaling. A second resource for the second UL transmission may comprise at least one dynamically scheduled PUSCH resource.

[0123] In some implementations, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise a mode-B. For mode-B, one-bit indication in the first PUCCH may be used to notify the second UL transmission to carry the beam report. In such implementations, at least a periodic PUCCH resource (with PUCCH format 0 / 1) is configured by dedicated RRC signaling. The resource for the second UL transmission may comprise at least one pre-configured PUSCH resource. For example, the resource for the second UL transmission may comprise at least one configured grant (CG) .

[0124] In some implementations, the at least one UL transmission may comprise at least one of the first UL transmission and the second UL transmission subsequent to the first UL transmission. In such implementations, the configuration for the at least one UL transmission may comprise at least one of the following: ● a resource or search space for a DL signaling indicating transmission or  retransmission of the first UL transmission, ● a timer (also referred to a second timer) for indicating the first UL  transmission is not received successfully, ● a timer (also referred to an eighth timer) for indicating the first UL  transmission is received successfully, ● resources for a bundle of the first UL transmissions, ● a pattern of the bundle of the first UL transmissions, or ● a timer (also referred to a tenth timer) for controlling the second UL  transmission.

[0125] In some implementations, a DL signalling may dynamically schedule transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. In such implementations, the UE 104 may perform transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission based on the configuration for the at least one UL transmission and the DL signaling.

[0126] In some implementations, the DL signaling may indicate at least one of the following: the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission, a resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission, or the first UL transmission is received successfully or not received successfully.

[0127] In some implementations, the DL signaling may comprise downlink control information (DCI) . The DCI may comprise at least a dedicated or new field. For example, the dedicated or new field may indicate the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. For another example, the dedicated or new field may indicate the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is scheduled and the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. For a further example, the dedicated or new field may indicate that the first UL transmission is not received successfully and the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0128] Fig. 4 illustrates an example of a procedure for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 4, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-A.

[0129] As shown in Fig. 4, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. In addition, in the on-duration or not in Active time e.g. already defined Active time when DRX is configured, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the first PUCCH at time T1. For mode-A, one-bit indication in the first PUCCH may be used to request a resource for the second UL transmission to carry the beam report.

[0130] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T2. The DL signalling may comprise DCI. The DCI may indicate transmission or retransmission ( (re) TX) ) of the first UL transmission. The UE 104 may perform, at time T3, transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH.

[0131] Alternatively, the DCI may indicate a resource for transmission of the second PUSCH. In this case, the UE 104 may consider the first PUCCH is received successfully. The UE 104 may perform, at time T4, transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0132] In some implementations, for mode-A, in order to receive the DL signaling scheduling the second PUSCH and / or transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise a first timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the first timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0133] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed. For example, in the example of Fig. 4, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T1. The initial transmission of the first UL transmission is also referred to as a new transmission of the first UL transmission.

[0134] In some implementations, if the UE 104 does not support transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once the initial transmission of the first UL transmission is performed.

[0135] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer when a first DL signaling indicating the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission is received in the active time. For example, the first PUCCH on a serving cell in this DRX group is received and a DRX group is in active time. For example, in the example of Fig. 4, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T2.

[0136] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, transmission of the second UL transmission, or a DL transmission comprising a DRX command media access control control element (MAC CE) or a long DRX command MAC CE.

[0137] For example, if the UE 104 supports retransmission of the first UL transmission, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0138] For another example, if the UE 104 does not support retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: transmission of the second UL transmission, a DL transmission comprising a DRX command MAC CE or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0139] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a configured downlink assignment for unicast transmission is received.

[0140] In some implementations, for mode-A, the at least one timer may comprise a third timer and a fourth timer, and the active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fourth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0141] In some implementations, a duration of the third timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the third timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCH. The third timer may be similar to a legacy drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerUL or the third timer is not per HARQ process.

[0142] In some implementations, the fourth timer may be drx-RetransmissionTimerPUCCH or drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0143] In some implementations, at least one of the third timer and the fourth timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, uplink control information (UCI) configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0144] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed.

[0145] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fourth timer when the third timer expires.

[0146] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, or transmission of the second UL transmission. The third DL signaling may indicate a DL transmission comprising a DRX command MAC CE or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully. Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a configured downlink assignment for unicast transmission is received.

[0147] For example, if the UE 104 supports retransmission of the first UL transmission, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0148] For another example, if the UE 104 does not support retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: transmission of the second UL transmission or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0149] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and a fourth DL signaling is not received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0150] Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted.

[0151] In some implementations, the at least one timer may comprise a drx-InactivityTimer. The drx-InactivityTimer defines a duration after a PDCCH occasion in which a PDCCH indicates a new UL, DL or sidelink (SL) transmission for the MAC entity of the UE 104. In such implementations, if a DRX group is in Active Time and if the PDCCH indicates a retransmission of the first UL transmission (for example, the first PUCCH on a Serving Cell in this DRX group) , the UE 104 may start or restart the drx-InactivityTimer for this DRX group in the first symbol after the end of the PDCCH reception.

[0152] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission based on the configuration for the at least one UL transmission and the second timer. The second timer triggers the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. In such implementations, the UE 104 considers the first UL transmission is not received successfully if a downlink signaling scheduling transmission of the second UL transmission is not received before the second timer expires.

[0153] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the second timer once a new transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is transmitted. The UE 104 may perform retransmission of the first UL transmission when the second timer expires.

[0154] In some implementations, there could be multiple retransmissions of the first UL transmission (for the same transmission of the first UL transmission) at least for partial overlapping resources in time domain if there are available UL resources.

[0155] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the second timer when a DL signalling scheduling transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0156] Fig. 5 illustrates an example of a procedure for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 5, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-A.

[0157] As shown in Fig. 5, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX.

[0158] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the second timer once a new transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is transmitted at time T1. When the second timer expires at time T2, the UE 104 may consider the first UL transmission is not received successfully, which is referred to “NACK based on the second timer” . The UE 104 may perform, at time T2, retransmission of the first UL transmission when the second timer expires.

[0159] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T3. The DL signalling may comprise DCI. The DCI may indicate a resource for transmission of the second PUSCH. In turn, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0160] In some implementations, for mode-A, in order to receive the DL signaling scheduling the second PUSCH when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise the first timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the first timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group. In such implementations, the first timer may be for C-DRX.

[0161] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is performed. For example, in the example of Fig. 5, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T1 when the initial transmission of the first UL transmission is performed at time T1.

[0162] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0163] In some implementations, for mode-A, the at least one timer may comprise a third timer and a fourth timer, and the active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fourth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0164] In some implementations, a duration of the third timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the third timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCH. The third timer may be similar to a legacy drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerUL or the third timer is not per HARQ process.

[0165] In some implementations, the fourth timer may be drx-RetransmissionTimerPUCCH or drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0166] In some implementations, at least one of the third timer and the fourth timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, uplink control information (UCI) configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0167] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed.

[0168] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once the second timer for transmission of the first UL transmission expires.

[0169] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fourth timer when the third timer expires.

[0170] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0171] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted. For example, the active time for serving cells in a DRX group may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted. Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and a third DL signaling is not received. The third DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0172] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission based on the configuration for the at least one UL transmission and the second timer. The second timer triggers the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. In such implementations, the UE 104 considers the first UL transmission is received successfully if a downlink signaling scheduling transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is not received before the second timer expires.

[0173] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the second timer once a new transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is transmitted.

[0174] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the second timer when a DL signalling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is received or when a DL signalling indicating transmission of the second UL transmission is received.

[0175] In some implementations, if neither the DL signalling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is received or nor the DL signalling indicating transmission of the second UL transmission is received, the UE 104 may consider the UE-initiated beam management procedure fails.

[0176] Alternatively, in some implementations, if the DL signalling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is received and the DL signalling indicating transmission of the second UL transmission is not received, the UE 104 may consider the UE-initiated beam management procedure fails.

[0177] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine whether to trigger a UE-initiated beam management procedure, e.g. this UE-initiated beam management procedure or another UE-initiated beam management procedure or transmission or retransmission of this failed UE-initiated beam management procedure when a next available UL resource occurs. For example, the next available UL resource may be used for the first UL transmission. Alternatively, a beam report for this failed UE-initiated beam management procedure is carried on other available PUSCH resource.

[0178] Fig. 6 illustrates an example of a procedure for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 6, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-A.

[0179] As shown in Fig. 6, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. In addition, in the on-duration, the UE 104 may perform a new transmission of the first PUCCH at time T1, and the UE 104 may start or restart the eighth timer. For mode-A, one-bit indication in the first PUCCH may be used to request a resource for the second UL transmission to carry the beam report.

[0180] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T2. The DL signalling may comprise DCI. The DCI may indicate transmission or retransmission ( (re) TX) ) of the first PUCCH. The UE 104 may perform, at time T3, transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH. Once the UE 104 performs, at time T3, transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH, the UE 104 may start or restart the eighth timer. If the UE 104 receives, for example at time T4, a DL signalling indicating transmission of the second PUSCH before the eighth timer expires at time T5, the UE 104 may stop the eighth timer and the UE 104 may not perform retransmission of the first PUCCH at time T5.

[0181] If the UE 104 does not receive a DL signalling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH before the eighth timer expires at time T5, the UE 104 may consider the first PUCCH is received successfully, which is referred to “ACK based on the eighth timer” .

[0182] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T6. The DL signalling may comprise DCI. The DCI may indicate transmission of the second PUSCH. In turn, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second PUSCH based on the DL signalling.

[0183] If a DL signalling comprising DCI indicating transmission of the second PUSCH is received at time T4, the UE 104 may stop the eighth timer.

[0184] In some implementations, for mode-A, in order to receive the DL signaling scheduling the second PUSCH and / or transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise a first timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the first timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0185] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed. For example, in the example of Fig. 4, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T1. The initial transmission of the first UL transmission is also referred to as a new transmission of the first UL transmission.

[0186] In some implementations, if the UE 104 does not support transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once the initial transmission of the first UL transmission is performed.

[0187] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer when a first DL signaling indicating the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission is received in the active time. For example, the first PUCCH on a serving cell in this DRX group is received and a DRX group is in active time. For example, in the example of Fig. 4, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T2.

[0188] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, transmission of the second UL transmission, a DL transmission comprising a DRX command media access control control element (MAC CE) or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0189] For example, if the UE 104 supports retransmission of the first UL transmission, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0190] For another example, if the UE 104 does not support retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: transmission of the second UL transmission, a DL transmission comprising a DRX command MAC CE or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0191] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a configured downlink assignment for unicast transmission is received.

[0192] In some implementations, for mode-A, the at least one timer may comprise a third timer and a fourth timer, and the active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fourth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0193] In some implementations, a duration of the third timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the third timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCH. The third timer may be similar to a legacy drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerUL or the third timer is not per HARQ process.

[0194] In some implementations, the fourth timer may be drx-RetransmissionTimerPUCCH or drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0195] In some implementations, at least one of the third timer and the fourth timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, uplink control information (UCI) configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0196] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed.

[0197] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fourth timer when the third timer expires.

[0198] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, or transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0199] For example, if the UE 104 supports retransmission of the first UL transmission, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0200] For another example, if the UE 104 does not support retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: transmission of the second UL transmission or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0201] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and a fourth DL signaling is not received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0202] Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted.

[0203] In some implementations, the at least one timer may comprise a drx-InactivityTimer.

[0204] In some implementations, for mode-A, in order to receive the DL signaling scheduling the second PUSCH when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise a fifth timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fifth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0205] In some implementations, the UE 104 may be configured to transmit multiple first UL transmissions within a bundle. The configuration may include at least the transmission pattern, e.g. repeated transmissions, the transmission number, the transmission interval, the starting point of the transmission, the ending point of the transmission. DCI is used to allocate the resource for the second UL transmission.

[0206] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure or in a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle. Hereinafter, a bundle of first UL transmissions is also referred to repetitions of the first UL transmission.

[0207] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when a fourth DL signaling is received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0208] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when the second UL transmission is performed.

[0209] In some implementations, for example, for mode-B, when the fifth timer expires, the UE 104 may perform the second UL transmission. In other words, the fifth timer may trigger the second UL transmission.

[0210] Fig. 7A illustrates an example of a procedure for transmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 7A, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-A.

[0211] As shown in Fig. 7A, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. The UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a start symbol 710 after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first PUCCHs related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0212] The UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when a fourth DL signaling is received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second PUSCH.

[0213] Fig. 7B illustrates an example of a procedure for transmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 7B, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-A.

[0214] As shown in Fig. 7B, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. The UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a further start symbol 720 after an end of a last transmission within the bundle of PUCCHs.

[0215] The UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when a fourth DL signaling is received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second PUSCH.

[0216] In some implementations, for mode-A, the at least one timer may comprise a sixth timer and a seventh timer, and the active time may comprise time while the seventh timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0217] In some implementations, a duration of the sixth timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the sixth timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCHbundle.

[0218] In some implementations, the seventh timer may be drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0219] In some implementations, at least one of the sixth timer and the seventh timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, UCI configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0220] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the sixth timer in a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure or in a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle. The UE 104 may start or restart the seventh timer when the sixth timer expires.

[0221] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the seventh timer when a fifth DL signaling is received. The fifth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0222] In some implementations, the active time may comprise a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure and time while a fourth DL signaling is not received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0223] Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle and time while the fourth DL signaling is not received.

[0224] Fig. 7C illustrates an example of a procedure for retransmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 7C, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-A.

[0225] As shown in Fig. 7C, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH.

[0226] The above solutions for transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission can be reused by starting the timers in different time points. For example, the UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions or in a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle. The UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when a fourth DL signaling is received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission. Alternatively, the UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when the second UL transmission is performed. When the fifth timer expires, the UE 104 may perform retransmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions.

[0227] In some implementations, a DL signalling may dynamically schedule transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission or the bundle of first UL transmissions. In such implementations, the UE 104 may perform transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission based on the configuration for the at least one UL transmission and the DL signaling.

[0228] In some implementations, the DL signaling may indicate at least one of the following: the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission, the transmission or retransmission of the bundle of first UL transmissions, a resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmissions, a resource for the transmission or retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmissions or the first UL transmission is received successfully or not received successfully.

[0229] In some implementations, the DL signaling may comprise downlink control information (DCI) . The DCI may comprise a dedicated or new field.

[0230] In some implementations, the dedicated or new field may indicate the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission or the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmission.

[0231] In some implementations, the dedicated or new field may indicate the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is scheduled and the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission, or the transmission or retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmission is scheduled and the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmission.

[0232] In some implementations, the dedicated or new field may indicate that the first UL transmission is not received successfully and the resource for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. The dedicated or new field may comprise one-bit indication. For example, a value of the bit set to 1 indicates the first UL transmission is received successfully. For another example, a value of the bit set to 1 indicates the first UL transmission is received successfully and the value of the bit set to 0 indicates the first UL transmission is not received successfully.

[0233] In some implementations, the dedicated or new field may indicate a result of the first UL transmission. The dedicated or new field may indicate success or failure. For example, a value of the dedicated or new field set to 1 or true indicates success, and the value of the dedicated or new field set to 0 or false indicates failure.

[0234] Fig. 8 illustrates an example of a procedure for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 8, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0235] As shown in Fig. 8, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. In addition, in the on-duration, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the first PUCCH at time T1. For mode-B, one-bit indication in the first PUCCH may be used to notify the second UL transmission to carry the beam report. In such implementations, at least a periodic PUCCH resource is configured by dedicated RRC signaling. The resource for the second UL transmission may comprise at least one pre-configured PUSCH resource. For example, the resource for the second UL transmission may comprise at least one CG.

[0236] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T2. The DL signalling may comprise DCI. The DCI may indicate transmission or retransmission ( (re) TX) ) of the first UL transmission. The UE 104 may perform, at time T3, transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH.

[0237] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T4. The DL signalling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully. In turn, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second PUSCH on a preconfigured resource.

[0238] In some implementations, for mode-B, in order to receive the DL signaling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH and / or indicating the first UL transmission is received successfully or not received successfully when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise a first timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the first timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0239] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed. For example, in the example of Fig. 8, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T1. The initial transmission of the first UL transmission is also referred to as a new transmission of the first UL transmission.

[0240] In some implementations, if the UE 104 does not support transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once the initial transmission of the first UL transmission is performed.

[0241] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer when a first DL signaling indicating the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission is received in the active time. For example, the first PUCCH on a serving cell in this DRX group is received and a DRX group is in active time. For example, in the example of Fig. 8, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T2.

[0242] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, transmission of the second UL transmission, success of the first UL transmission, a DL transmission comprising a DRX command media access control control element (MAC CE) or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0243] For example, if the UE 104 supports retransmission of the first UL transmission, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0244] For another example, if the UE 104 does not support retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: transmission of the second UL transmission, success of the first UL transmission, a DL transmission comprising a DRX command MAC CE or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0245] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a configured downlink assignment for unicast transmission is received.

[0246] In some implementations, for mode-B, the at least one timer may comprise a third timer and a fourth timer, and the active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fourth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0247] In some implementations, a duration of the third timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the third timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCH. The third timer may be similar to a legacy drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerUL or the third timer is not per HARQ process.

[0248] In some implementations, the fourth timer may be drx-RetransmissionTimerPUCCH or drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0249] In some implementations, at least one of the third timer and the fourth timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, uplink control information (UCI) configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0250] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed.

[0251] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fourth timer when the third timer expires.

[0252] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, transmission of the second UL transmission, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0253] For example, if the UE 104 supports retransmission of the first UL transmission, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0254] For another example, if the UE 104 does not support retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: transmission of the second UL transmission or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0255] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and a fourth DL signaling is not received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate transmission of the second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0256] Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted.

[0257] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission based on the configuration for the at least one UL transmission and the second timer. The second timer triggers the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. In such implementations, the UE 104 considers the first UL transmission is not received successfully if a downlink signaling indicating success of the first UL transmission is not received before the second timer expires.

[0258] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the second timer once a new transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is transmitted. The UE 104 may perform retransmission of the first UL transmission when the second timer expires.

[0259] In some implementations, there could be multiple retransmissions of the first UL transmission (for the same transmission of the first UL transmission) at least for partial overlapping resources in time domain if there are available UL resources.

[0260] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the second timer when a DL signalling indicating success of the first UL transmission.

[0261] Fig. 9 illustrates an example of a procedure for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 9, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0262] As shown in Fig. 9, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX.

[0263] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the second timer once a new transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is transmitted at time T1. When the second timer expires at time T2, the UE 104 may consider the first UL transmission is not received successfully, which is referred to “NACK based on the second timer” . The UE 104 may perform, at time T2, retransmission of the first UL transmission when the second timer expires.

[0264] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T3. The DL signalling may comprise DCI. The DCI may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully. In turn, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0265] In some implementations, for mode-B, in order to receive the DL signaling indicating the first UL transmission is received successfully when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise the first timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the first timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group. In such implementations, the first timer may be for C-DRX.

[0266] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is performed. For example, in the example of Fig. 9, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T1 when the initial transmission of the first UL transmission is performed at time T1.

[0267] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0268] In some implementations, for mode-B, the at least one timer may comprise a third timer and a fourth timer, and the active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fourth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0269] In some implementations, a duration of the third timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the third timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCH. The third timer may be similar to a legacy drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerUL or the third timer is not per HARQ process.

[0270] In some implementations, the fourth timer may be drx-RetransmissionTimerPUCCH or drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0271] In some implementations, at least one of the third timer and the fourth timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, UCI configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0272] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed.

[0273] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once the second timer for transmission of the first UL transmission expires.

[0274] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fourth timer when the third timer expires.

[0275] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0276] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and a DL signalling is not received. For example, the active time for serving cells in a DRX group may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the DL signalling is not received. The DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0277] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted. For example, the active time for serving cells in a DRX group may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted.

[0278] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission based on the configuration for the at least one UL transmission and the eighth timer. The eighth timer triggers the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission. In such implementations, the UE 104 considers the first UL transmission is received successfully if a downlink signaling scheduling transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is not received before the eighth timer expires.

[0279] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the eighth timer once a new transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is transmitted.

[0280] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the eighth timer when a DL signalling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission is received.

[0281] Fig. 10 illustrates an example of a procedure for the transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 10, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0282] As shown in Fig. 10, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. In addition, in the on-duration, the UE 104 may perform a new transmission of the first PUCCH at time T1. For mode-B, one-bit indication in the first PUCCH may be used to notify the second UL transmission to carry the beam report.

[0283] Then, the UE 104 may receive a DL signaling at time T2. When the eighth timer expires at time T4, the UE 104 may consider the first PUCCH is received successfully, which is referred to “ACK based on the eighth timer” . At time T4, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second PUSCH.

[0284] In some implementations, for mode-B, in order to receive the DL signaling indicating transmission or retransmission of the first PUCCH when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise a first timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the first timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0285] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed. For example, in the example of Fig. 8, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T1. The initial transmission of the first UL transmission is also referred to as a new transmission of the first UL transmission.

[0286] In some implementations, if the UE 104 does not support transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission or if the UE 104 does not support scheduling of transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission by a DL signalling, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer once the initial transmission of the first UL transmission is performed.

[0287] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer when a first DL signaling indicating the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission is received in the active time. For example, the first PUCCH on a serving cell in this DRX group is received and a DRX group is in active time. For example, in the example of Fig. 8, the UE 104 may start or restart the first timer at time T2.

[0288] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a second DL signaling is received. The second DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, a DL transmission comprising a DRX command media access control control element (MAC CE) or a long DRX command MAC CE, or the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0289] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when the eighth timer indicating the first UL transmission is received successfully expires or the second UL transmission is transmitted.

[0290] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the first timer when a configured downlink assignment for unicast transmission is received.

[0291] In some implementations, for mode-B, the at least one timer may comprise a third timer and a fourth timer, and the active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fourth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0292] In some implementations, a duration of the third timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the third timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCH. The third timer may be similar to a legacy drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerUL or the third timer is not per HARQ process.

[0293] In some implementations, the fourth timer may be drx-RetransmissionTimerPUCCH or drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0294] In some implementations, at least one of the third timer and the fourth timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, UCI configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0295] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the third timer once an initial transmission, transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure is performed.

[0296] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fourth timer when the third timer expires.

[0297] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when a third DL signaling is received. The third DL signaling may indicate one of the following: the transmission or the retransmission of the first UL transmission, .

[0298] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fourth timer when the eighth timer indicating the first UL transmission is received successfully expires.

[0299] In some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the second UL transmission is not transmitted.

[0300] Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and the eighth timer indicating the first UL transmission is received successfully expires.

[0301] In some implementations, the at least one timer may comprise a drx-InactivityTimer.

[0302] In some implementations, the UE 104 may be configured to transmit multiple first UL transmissions within a bundle. The configuration may include at least the transmission pattern, e.g. repeated transmissions, the transmission number, the transmission interval, the starting point of the transmission, the ending point of the transmission. A ninth timer) or a predefined time duration may be used to control transmission of the second UL transmission. For example, the ninth timer may be the same as or different from the fifth timer as described above. Alternatively, a DL signaling indicating transmission of the first UL transmission is received successfully may be used to control transmission of the second UL transmission. Alternatively, the resource configuration may be used to control transmission of the second UL transmission. For example, the second UL transmission may be transmitted based on the resource configuration, e.g. the nearest second PUSCH resource after the bundle / repetition of first PUCCH transmissions.

[0303] Fig. 11A illustrates an example of a procedure for transmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 11A, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0304] As shown in Fig. 11A, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. The UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a start symbol 1110 after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first PUCCHs related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0305] When the fifth timer expires, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second PUSCH.

[0306] Fig. 11B illustrates an example of a procedure for transmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 11B, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0307] As shown in Fig. 11B, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH. The UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a further start symbol 1120 after an end of a last transmission within the bundle of PUCCHs.

[0308] When the fifth timer expires, the UE 104 may perform transmission of the second PUSCH.

[0309] In some implementations, for mode-B, in order to control transmission of the second UL transmission when DRX (e.g. cell DRX (C-DRX) or UE DRX) is configured, the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise a fifth timer and active time related to the configuration for power saving of the UE 104 may comprise time while the fifth timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0310] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure or in a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle.

[0311] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when the second UL transmission is performed.

[0312] In some implementations, for mode-B, the at least one timer may comprise a sixth timer and a seventh timer, and the active time may comprise time while the seventh timer is running. For example, the active time may comprise active time for serving cells in a DRX group.

[0313] In some implementations, a duration of the sixth timer may be related to propagation delay and processing delay of the base station 102. For example, the sixth timer may be drx-RTT-TimerPUCCHbundle.

[0314] In some implementations, the seventh timer may be drx-TimerPUSCH.

[0315] In some implementations, at least one of the sixth timer and the seventh timer is configured per one of the following: CSI report configuration for UEIBR, the UE-initiated beam management procedure, a configuration for the first UL transmission, UCI configuration related to the first UL transmission, HARQ process, or trigger event for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0316] In some implementations, the UE 104 may start or restart the sixth timer in a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure or in a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle. The UE 104 may start or restart the seventh timer when the sixth timer expires.

[0317] In some implementations, the UE 104 may stop the seventh timer when a fifth DL signaling is received. The fifth DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0318] In some implementations, the active time may comprise a start symbol after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure and time while a fourth DL signaling is not received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0319] Alternatively, in some implementations, the active time may comprise a further start symbol after an end of a last transmission within the bundle and time while the fourth DL signaling is not received.

[0320] Fig. 11C illustrates an example of a procedure for retransmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 11C, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0321] As shown in Fig. 11C, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH.

[0322] The above solutions for transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission can be reused by starting the timers in different time points. For example, the UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a start symbol 1130 after an end of a start transmission within a bundle of first UL transmissions. The UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when a fourth DL signaling is received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0323] When the fifth timer expires, the UE 104 may perform retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmissions.

[0324] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmissions in a form of the bundle.

[0325] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may perform retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmissions in a form of a single first UL transmission in the bundle.

[0326] Fig. 11D illustrates an example of a procedure for retransmission of a bundle of the first UL transmissions in accordance with some aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, in the example of Fig. 11D, the UE-initiated beam management procedure may comprise the mode-B.

[0327] As shown in Fig. 11D, a DRX cycle may comprise an on-duration and an opportunity for DRX. In the on-duration, the UE 104 shall monitor PDCCH.

[0328] The above solutions for transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission can be reused by starting the timers in different time points. For example, the UE 104 may start or restart the fifth timer in a further start symbol 1140 after an end of a last transmission within the bundle. The UE 104 may stop the fifth timer when a fourth DL signaling is received. The fourth DL signaling may indicate the first UL transmission is received successfully.

[0329] When the fifth timer expires, the UE 104 may perform retransmission of the bundle of the first UL transmissions.

[0330] It shall be noted that the solutions of the present disclosure may be applied to more than one DRX groups if configured by RRC. The related DRX parameters e.g. the at least one timer may be separately configured for each DRX group.

[0331] Fig. 12 illustrate a flowchart of a method 1200 that supports UL transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In some implementations, the method 1200 can be implemented at a UE, such as the UE 104 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1200 will be described with reference to Fig. 1.

[0332] At 1210, the UE 104 receives, from the base station 102, a configuration for power saving of the base station 102.

[0333] At 1220, the UE 104 determines an active duration or non-active duration based on the configuration.

[0334] At 1230, the UE 104 performs at least one operation related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure in the active duration or non-active duration.

[0335] With the method 1200, if the UE 104 supporting the UE-initiated beam management procedure is configured with cell DRX e.g. cell DTX and cell DRX, or cell DTX, delay of the UE-initiated beam management procedure may be reduced.

[0336] In some implementations, the configuration for power / energy saving of the base station 102 may comprise a cell DRX configuration for a serving cell of the UE 104.

[0337] In some implementations, a counter is configured for the UE-initiated beam management procedure, e.g. the first PUCCH or the second PUSCH. The MAC entity of the UE 104 may set the counter of the corresponding UE-initiated beam management procedure to 0 or any other value.

[0338] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform the at least one operation related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure in the non-active duration by at least one of the following: ● avoiding instructing a physical layer of the UE 104 to transmit a first UL  transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure; ● avoiding incrementing a counter for the UE-initiated beam management  procedure; ● avoiding delivering a second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated  beam management procedure, wherein the second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission; ● avoiding delivering HARQ information associated with the UE-initiated  beam management procedure to a HARQ entity; ● avoiding instructing a HARQ process associated with the UE-initiated  beam management procedure to trigger a new transmission or a retransmission; ● delivering a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam  management procedure; ● delivering a second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam  management procedure, wherein the second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission; ● delivering HARQ information associated with the UE-initiated beam  management procedure to a HARQ entity; or ● instructing a HARQ process associated with the UE-initiated beam  management procedure to trigger a new transmission or a retransmission.

[0339] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DRX, if cell DRX is activated and the Serving Cell is not in the cell DRX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: avoiding instructing a physical layer of the UE 104 to transmit the first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure; or avoiding incrementing a counter for the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0340] For example, for mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DRX, if cell DRX is activated and the Serving Cell is not in the cell DRX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: ● avoiding delivering the second UL transmission; ● avoiding delivering HARQ information associated with the UE-initiated  beam management procedure to a HARQ entity; or ● avoiding instructing a HARQ process associated with the UE-initiated  beam management procedure to trigger a new transmission or a retransmission.

[0341] For another example, for mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DRX, if cell DRX is activated and the Serving Cell is not in the cell DRX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: ● delivering the second UL transmission; ● delivering HARQ information associated with the UE-initiated beam  management procedure to a HARQ entity; or ● instructing a HARQ process associated with the UE-initiated beam  management procedure to trigger a new transmission or a retransmission.

[0342] In some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure is transmitted. Alternatively, in some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and is pending.

[0343] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, when cell DRX is configured and activated for a Serving Cell, the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure is transmitted, or the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and is pending.

[0344] In some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while a second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure is transmitted. Alternatively, in some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while the second UL transmission is transmitted and is pending.

[0345] For example, for mode-B, when cell DRX is configured and activated for a Serving Cell, the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while the second UL transmission is transmitted. Alternatively, in some implementations, or the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while the second UL transmission is transmitted and is pending.

[0346] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform the at least one operation related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure in the active duration by at least one of the following: ● instructing a physical layer of the UE to transmit a first UL transmission  related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure; ● incrementing a counter for the UE-initiated beam management procedure;  or ● instructing the physical layer of the UE to transmit a second UL  transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure, wherein the second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission.

[0347] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DRX, if cell DRX is activated and the Serving Cell is in the cell DRX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: ● instructing a physical layer of the UE to transmit the first UL transmission; ● incrementing a counter for the UE-initiated beam management procedure;  or ● instructing the physical layer of the UE to transmit the second UL  transmission.

[0348] In some implementations, the configuration may comprise a cell DTX configuration for a serving cell of the UE 104.

[0349] In some implementations, the UE 104 may perform the at least one operation related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure in the non-active duration by: ● receiving or avoid receiving a DL signaling indicating transmission or  retransmission or success of the first UL transmission; or ● receiving or avoid receiving a further DL signaling indicating  transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0350] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DTX, if cell DTX is activated and the Serving Cell is not in the cell DTX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: ● receiving or avoid receiving a DL signaling indicating transmission or  retransmission or success of the first UL transmission; or ● receiving or avoid receiving a further DL signaling indicating  transmission of the second UL transmission.

[0351] In some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while a DL signaling is received, or the active duration may comprise time while the DL signaling is received and pending. The DL signaling may indicate transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0352] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, when cell DTX is configured and activated for a Serving Cell, the cell DTX Active Period may comprise time while a DL signaling is received, or the cell DTX Active Period may comprise time while the DL signaling is received and pending. The DL signaling may indicate transmission or retransmission of the first UL transmission.

[0353] Fig. 13 illustrate a flowchart of a method 1300 that supports UL transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In some implementations, the method 1300 can be implemented at a base station, such as the base station 102 as shown in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1300 will be described with reference to Fig. 1.

[0354] At 1310, the base station 102 transmits, to the UE 104, a configuration for power saving of the base station 102.

[0355] At 1320, the base station 102 determines an active duration or non-active duration based on the configuration.

[0356] At 1330, the base station 102 performs at least one operation related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure in the active duration or non-active duration.

[0357] With the method 1300, if the UE 104 supporting the UE-initiated beam management procedure is configured with cell DRX or cell DTX, delay of the UE-initiated beam management procedure may be reduced.

[0358] In some implementations, the configuration for power saving of the base station 102 may comprise a cell DRX configuration for a serving cell of the UE 104.

[0359] In some implementations, the base station 102 may perform the at least one operation related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure in the non-active duration by at least one of the following: ● avoiding receiving a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated  beam management procedure; ● avoiding receiving a second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated  beam management procedure, wherein the second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission; ● receiving the first UL transmission; or ● receiving the second UL transmission.

[0360] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DRX, if cell DRX is activated and the Serving Cell is not in the cell DRX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: avoiding instructing a physical layer of the base station 102 to receive the first UL transmission, avoiding instructing a physical layer of the base station 102 to receive the second UL transmission, instructing a physical layer of the base station 102 to receive the first UL transmission, or instructing a physical layer of the base station 102 to receive the second UL transmission.

[0361] In some implementations, the base station 102 may perform the at least one operation related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure in the active duration by: ● receiving the first UL transmission; or ● receiving the second UL transmission.

[0362] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DRX, if cell DRX is activated and the Serving Cell is in the cell DRX Active Period, the MAC entity shall perform at least one of the following: instructing a physical layer of the base station 102 to receive the first UL transmission, or instructing a physical layer of the base station 102 to receive the second UL transmission.

[0363] In some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure is transmitted, or the active duration may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and is pending.

[0364] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, when cell DRX is configured and activated for a Serving Cell, the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure is transmitted, or the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while the first UL transmission is transmitted and is pending.

[0365] In some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while a second UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure is received, or the active duration may comprise time while the second UL transmission is received and is pending.

[0366] For example, for mode-B, when cell DRX is configured and activated for a Serving Cell, the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time may comprise time while the second UL transmission is received, or the cell DRX Active Period may comprise time while the second UL transmission is received and is pending.

[0367] In some implementations, the configuration for power saving of the base station 102 may comprise a cell DTX configuration for a serving cell of the UE 104.

[0368] In some implementations, the base station 102 may perform the at least one operation related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure in the non-active duration by one of the following: ● avoiding transmitting a DL signaling indicating transmission or  retransmission or success of a first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure; ● transmitting the DL signaling; ● avoiding transmitting a further DL signaling indicating transmission of a  second UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure, wherein the second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission; or ● transmitting the further DL signaling.

[0369] For example, for mode-A and mode-B, for each Serving Cell configured with cell DTX, if cell DTX is activated and the Serving Cell is not in the cell DTX Active Period, the MAC entity of the base station 102 shall perform at least one of the following: ● avoiding transmitting a DL signaling indicating transmission or  retransmission or success of a first UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure; ● transmitting the DL signaling; ● avoiding transmitting a further DL signaling indicating transmission of a  second UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure, wherein the second UL transmission is subsequent to the first UL transmission; or ● transmitting the further DL signaling.

[0370] In some implementations, the active duration may comprise time while a DL signaling is transmitted, or the active duration may comprise time while the DL signaling is transmitted and pending. The DL signaling may indicate transmission or retransmission of a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0371] For example, for mode-B, when cell DTX is configured and activated for a Serving Cell, the cell DTX Active Period may comprise time while a DL signaling is transmitted, or the cell DTX Active Period may comprise time while the DL signaling is transmitted and pending. The DL signaling may indicate transmission or retransmission of a first UL transmission related to the UE-initiated beam management procedure.

[0372] Fig. 14 illustrates an example of a device 1400 that supports UL transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The device 1400 may be an example of a network entity 102 or a UE 104 as described herein. The device 1400 may support wireless communication with one or more network entities 102, UEs 104, or any combination thereof. The device 1400 may include components for bi-directional communications including components for transmitting and receiving communications, such as a processor 1402, a memory 1404, a transceiver 1406, and, optionally, an I / O controller 1408. These components may be in electronic communication or otherwise coupled (e.g., operatively, communicatively, functionally, electronically, electrically) via one or more interfaces (e.g., buses) .

[0373] The processor 1402, the memory 1404, the transceiver 1406, or various combinations thereof or various components thereof may be examples of means for performing various aspects of the present disclosure as described herein. For example, the processor 1402, the memory 1404, the transceiver 1406, or various combinations or components thereof may support a method for performing one or more of the operations described herein.

[0374] In some implementations, the processor 1402, the memory 1404, the transceiver 1406, or various combinations or components thereof may be implemented in hardware (e.g., in communications management circuitry) . The hardware may include a processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, a discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof configured as or otherwise supporting a means for performing the functions described in the present disclosure. In some implementations, the processor 1402 and the memory 1404 coupled with the processor 1402 may be configured to perform one or more of the functions described herein (e.g., executing, by the processor 1402, instructions stored in the memory 1404) .

[0375] For example, the processor 1402 may support wireless communication at the device 1400 in accordance with examples as disclosed herein. The processor 1402 may be configured to operable to support a means for performing the following: receiving, from a base station, a configuration for power saving of the UE, wherein the configuration comprises at least one timer; determining active time related to the configuration based on the at least one timer; and monitoring a downlink control channel in the active time.

[0376] Alternatively, in some implementations, the processor 1402 may be configured to operable to support a means for performing the following: receiving, from a base station, a configuration for power saving of the base station; determining an active duration or non-active duration based on the configuration; and performing at least one operation related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure in the active duration or non-active duration.

[0377] Alternatively, in some implementations, the processor 1402 may be configured to operable to support a means for performing the following: receiving, from a base station, a configuration for at least one UL transmission related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure; and performing the at least one UL transmission to the base station based on the configuration.

[0378] Alternatively, in some implementations, the processor 1402 may be configured to operable to support a means for performing the following: transmitting, to a UE, a configuration for power saving of the base station; determining an active duration or non-active duration based on the configuration; and performing at least one operation related to a UE-initiated beam management procedure in the active duration or non-active duration.

[0379] The processor 1402 may include an intelligent hardware device (e.g., a general-purpose processor, a DSP, a CPU, a microcontroller, an ASIC, an FPGA, a programmable logic device, a discrete gate or transistor logic component, a discrete hardware component, or any combination thereof) . In some implementations, the processor 1402 may be configured to operate a memory array using a memory controller. In some other implementations, a memory controller may be integrated into the processor 1402. The processor 1402 may be configured to execute computer-readable instructions stored in a memory (e.g., the memory 1404) to cause the device 1400 to perform various functions of the present disclosure.
