[0007] Any combination of these configurations and conversion of the present invention between methods, devices, etc. are also valid aspects of the present invention.
[0008] According to the present invention, an oral composition can be obtained that has an excellent balance between adhesion to a toothbrush and ease of squeezing out of a tube container.
[0009] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described. In this embodiment, the composition may contain each component alone or in combination of two or more. In this specification, the term "to" indicating a numerical range means "at least" or "at most," and both end values are included.
[0010] (Oral Composition) In this embodiment, the oral composition contains an abrasive and a binder. When the tensile return forces in a 5 mm tensile test and a 10 mm tensile test, measured by the following Method 1, are TF5 and TF10, respectively, the ratio of TF5 to TF10 (TF5 / TF10) is 1.1 or more and 10 or less, and the stringiness, measured by the following Method 2, is 2 mm or more and less than 24 mm. (Method 1) Device name: Rheometer (e.g., CR-3000EX-S, manufactured by Sun Scientific Co., Ltd.) Jig used: Pressure / elasticity measuring pressure-sensitive shaft (Φ20 mm) Measurement speed: 60 mm / min Pull-up distance: 5 mm or 10 mm Filling container: 30 mL plastic pot (diameter 43 mm) Procedure: The filling container is filled to the brim with the oral composition, set in the device, and then pulled up at the measurement speed, and the absolute value of the stress is measured at each pull-up distance. The average value of three measurements taken at each pulling distance is designated as TF5 or TF10. In the procedure of Method 1, the numerical value of the stress during pulling is a negative value, so the recorded value is a negative value and the absolute value is a positive value.
[0011] (Method 2) Name of device: Rheometer (for example, CR-3000EX-S, manufactured by Sun Scientific Co., Ltd.) Jig used: Pressure-sensitive shaft for measuring penetration degree (Φ15 mm) Measurement speed: 1000 mm / min Pull-up distance: 50 mm Filling container: 30 mL plastic jar (diameter 43 mm) Procedure: Fill the filling container to the top with the oral composition, set it in the device, and then pull it up at the measurement speed. Measure the distance until the oral composition separates from the jig used during pulling. Measure the pull-up distance three times, and the average value is taken as the stringiness.
[0012] Here, the measurement temperature in Measurement 1 and Measurement 2 is specifically room temperature (25° C.).
[0013] The present inventors have focused on the ingredients and physical properties of the oral composition as design guidelines for improving the balance between adhesion to a toothbrush and the ability to easily squeeze the oral composition from a tube. As a result, they have newly discovered that by controlling the ingredients of the oral composition and using the tensile return force ratio (TF5 / TF10) and spinnability as indicators, it is possible to achieve a favorable balance between excellent adhesion to a toothbrush and easy squeezing of the oral composition from a tube. In other words, in this embodiment, the oral composition contains a combination of an abrasive and a binder, and the TF5 / TF10 ratio and spinnability are each within a specific range. This provides an excellent balance between adhesion to a toothbrush and easy squeezing of the oral composition from a tube. This also makes it possible to provide an oral composition that is easy to handle. For example, when placing an oral composition filled in a tube container on a toothbrush, it is possible to reduce the oral composition from falling off the toothbrush or sticking to areas other than the desired area. Furthermore, it is also possible to suitably reduce dripping from the discharge port when squeezing the oral composition filled in a tube container from the tube container. Furthermore, it is also possible to improve the ease of handling of the oral composition in the process from squeezing a dentifrice filled in a tube container onto a toothbrush to applying it to the oral cavity.
[0014] The ratio of the tensile return force TF5 in a 5 mm tensile test to the tensile return force TF10 in a 10 mm tensile test (TF5 / TF10) is 1.1 or more, preferably 1.15 or more, more preferably 1.2 or more, and even more preferably 1.25 or more. This improves the adhesion of the oral composition to a toothbrush. Furthermore, (TF5 / TF10) is 10 or less, preferably 9 or less, more preferably 8 or less, even more preferably 7 or less, and may be 4 or less. This allows for an oral composition whose discharge amount from a tube container can be easily controlled.
[0015] TF5 is preferably 1 gf or more, more preferably 5 gf or more, and even more preferably 10 gf or more. This allows for the production of an oral composition that is less likely to spill from a tube or toothbrush. TF5 is also preferably 100 gf or less, more preferably 75 gf or less, and even more preferably 50 gf or less. This allows for the production of an oral composition that is easily released from a tube container when squeezed.
[0016] TF10 can be set to a value such that (TF5 / TF10) falls within the above-mentioned range. TF10 may be, for example, 0.5 gf or more, or may be, for example, 50 gf or less.
[0017] The stringiness of the oral composition is 2 mm or more, more preferably 3 mm or more, and even more preferably 5 mm or more. This allows for more stable improvement in the adhesion of the oral composition to a toothbrush. Furthermore, the stringiness of the oral composition is less than 24 mm, preferably 23 mm or less, more preferably 22 mm or less, and even more preferably 20 mm or less. This allows for improved breakability of the oral composition.
[0018] Next, the components of the oral composition will be described. As described above, the oral composition contains an abrasive and a binder.
[0019] (Abrasive) Examples of the abrasive include one or more selected from the group consisting of abrasive silica such as hydrous silicic acid (e.g., gel silica, precipitated silica), anhydrous silicic acid, silica gel, and aluminosilicate; zeolite; calcium phosphate-based abrasives such as calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrate, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, and calcium pyrophosphate; calcium carbonate-based abrasives such as calcium carbonate; and other inorganic abrasives such as aluminum hydroxide, alumina, magnesium carbonate, tribasic magnesium phosphate, zirconium silicate, tribasic calcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite, and quaternary calcium phosphate; and organic abrasives such as synthetic resin-based abrasives.
[0020] The abrasive preferably contains abrasive silica, more preferably hydrated silicic acid. It is also preferable to contain anhydrous silicic acid. This allows for a more stable improvement in the balance between adhesion to the toothbrush and smoothness when squeezed out of the tube container. The abrasive silica may be either crystalline silica or amorphous silica, or may be wet silica.
[0021] The average particle size of the abrasive silica is preferably 1 μm or more, more preferably 2 μm or more, even more preferably 3 μm or more, and even more preferably 5 μm or more. This allows for efficient removal of stains from the tooth surface. The average particle size of the abrasive silica is also preferably 50 μm or less, more preferably 30 μm or less, and even more preferably 20 μm or less. This allows for a smooth mouthfeel to be obtained in an oral composition.
[0022] Here, the average particle size of the abrasive silica and the thickening silica described below is determined by measuring the particle size distribution of the particles on a volume basis using a commercially available laser diffraction / scattering particle size distribution measuring device. 50 It can be said that:
[0023] It is also preferable that the abrasive is substantially free of calcium carbonate. This makes it possible to more stably improve the balance between adhesion to the toothbrush and the cleanliness when squeezed out of the tube container. Here, "the oral composition is free of calcium carbonate" specifically means that calcium carbonate is not intentionally blended into the oral composition, and more specifically means that the calcium carbonate content is 0.001% by mass or less of the oral composition as a whole.
[0024] The content of the abrasive in the oral composition is preferably 5% by mass or more, more preferably more than 5% by mass, even more preferably 10% by mass or more, even more preferably more than 10% by mass, even more preferably 11% by mass or more, and even more preferably 13% by mass or more, based on the total oral composition. This allows for efficient removal of stains from the tooth surface. Furthermore, the content of the abrasive in the oral composition is preferably 30% by mass or less, more preferably less than 30% by mass, even more preferably 25% by mass or less, and even more preferably 20% by mass or less, based on the total oral composition. This allows for an oral composition with excellent smoothness in use.
[0025] (Binder) Examples of the binder include at least one selected from the group consisting of thickening silica such as hydrous silicic acid (e.g., gel silica, precipitated silica) and anhydrous silicic acid (e.g., gel silica, precipitated silica, and dry silica); other inorganic binders such as bentonite; and organic binders such as pullulan, gelatin, methylcellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose and salts thereof, carrageenan, alginic acid and salts thereof, xanthan gum, polyacrylic acid and salts thereof, gum arabic, guar gum, locust bean gum, polyvinyl alcohol, and carboxyvinyl polymers. Specific examples of the salts include alkali metal salts such as sodium salts and potassium salts.
[0026] The binder preferably contains an inorganic binder, more preferably contains thickening silica, which can more stably improve the balance between adhesion to the toothbrush and smoothness when squeezed out of the tube container.
[0027] The thickening silica may be either crystalline silica or amorphous silica, and may be either dry silica or wet silica. The average particle size of the thickening silica is preferably 1 μm or more, more preferably 2 μm or more, even more preferably 5 μm or more, and even more preferably 10 μm or more. This allows the viscosity of the oral composition to be more efficiently maintained. In addition, the average particle size of the thickening silica is preferably 60 μm or less, more preferably 50 μm or less, and even more preferably 40 μm or less. This allows the oral composition to have a smooth texture in the mouth.
[0028] The oil absorption of the thickening silica, as determined by the amount of boiled linseed oil absorbed according to the method described in JIS K 5101-13-2 (2004), is, for example, 0.1 mL / g or more, preferably 0.2 mL / g or more, and, for example, 5 mL / g or less, preferably 4 mL / g or less.
[0029] The content of inorganic binder in the oral composition is preferably 2% by mass or more, more preferably 2.5% by mass or more, even more preferably 3% by mass or more, and even more preferably 4% by mass or more, based on the total oral composition. This allows for an oral composition with excellent cushioning properties when brushing teeth. This also reduces irritation caused by contact of the toothbrush with the teeth, gums, etc. Furthermore, the content of inorganic binder in the oral composition is preferably 30% by mass or less, more preferably 25% by mass or less, even more preferably 20% by mass or less, and even more preferably 15% by mass or less, based on the total oral composition. This allows for an oral composition with excellent surface smoothness.
[0030] The binder preferably contains an organic binder. When the binder contains thickening silica, it is preferable that the binder further contains an organic binder. This makes it possible to more stably improve the balance between adhesion to the toothbrush and smoothness when squeezed out of the tube container.
[0031] In view of the above, the organic binder preferably comprises one or more selected from the group consisting of carboxymethylcellulose and its salts (e.g., sodium carboxymethylcellulose), xanthan gum, alginic acid and its salts (e.g., sodium alginate), polyacrylic acid and its salts, carboxyvinyl polymer, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, pectin, tragacanth gum, gum arabic, guar gum, karaya gum, locust bean gum, gellan gum, tamarind gum, psyllium seed gum, polyvinyl alcohol, and carrageenan (preferably excluding κ-carrageenan, e.g., ι-carrageenan); more preferably, it comprises one or more selected from the group consisting of carrageenan, sodium alginate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and xanthan gum; even more preferably, it comprises two or more selected from the group consisting of carrageenan, sodium alginate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and xanthan gum; still more preferably, it comprises sodium alginate or sodium carboxymethylcellulose and xanthan gum; and even more preferably, it comprises sodium alginate and xanthan gum. Specific examples of the salts include alkali metal salts such as sodium salts and potassium salts.
[0032] On the other hand, in terms of facilitating rinsing the oral cavity, it is also preferable that the oral composition does not contain xanthan gum. Specifically, the oral composition not containing xanthan gum means that xanthan gum is not intentionally blended into the oral composition, and more specifically, the content of xanthan gum is 0.001% by mass or less of the entire oral composition.
[0033] The content of the organic binder in the oral composition is preferably 0.2% by mass or more, more preferably 0.3% by mass or more, and even more preferably 1% by mass or more, based on the total oral composition. This allows the oral composition to have an appropriate viscosity. Furthermore, the content of the organic binder in the oral composition is preferably 15% by mass or less, more preferably 12% by mass or less, even more preferably 11% by mass or less, and even more preferably 10% by mass or less, based on the total oral composition. This allows the oral composition to be squeezed out smoothly from the tube container.
[0034] The mass ratio of the organic binder content to the inorganic binder content in the oral composition (organic binder / inorganic binder) is preferably 0.05 or more, more preferably 0.1 or more, and even more preferably 0.2 or more. This makes it possible to obtain an oral composition that is smooth to the touch and has an excellent usability. Furthermore, the mass ratio (organic binder / inorganic binder) is preferably 2.0 or less, more preferably 1.75 or less, even more preferably 1.5 or less, even more preferably 1.25 or less, and even more preferably 0.9 or less. This makes it possible to obtain an oral composition that is excellent in sharpness when dispensed from a tube container onto a toothbrush or the like.
[0035] The total content of binders in the oral composition is preferably 2% by mass or more, more preferably 3% by mass or more, and even more preferably 5% by mass or more, based on the total oral composition. This allows the oral composition to have an appropriate viscosity. Furthermore, the total content of binders in the oral composition is, for example, 45% by mass or less, preferably 15% by mass or less, more preferably 12% by mass or less, even more preferably 11% by mass or less, and even more preferably 10% by mass or less, based on the total oral composition. This allows the oral composition to be more easily absorbed by saliva during tooth brushing. Furthermore, excessive thickening of the oral composition can be suppressed.
[0036] The total content of silica in the oral composition is preferably 10% by mass or more, more preferably 15% by mass or more, and even more preferably 20% by mass or more, based on the total oral composition. This allows the fluidity of the oral composition to be moderately suppressed. The total content of silica in the oral composition is, for example, 60% by mass or less, preferably 30% by mass or less, more preferably 27.5% by mass or less, and even more preferably 25% by mass or less, based on the total oral composition. This allows the oral composition to be more easily mixed with saliva in the oral cavity, for example, when brushing teeth.
[0037] (Other Components) The oral composition may further contain components other than those described above. [0067] The oral composition is preferably applied to the oral cavity by being placed on a toothbrush. Examples of toothbrushes that can be used with the oral composition include known toothbrushes. Examples of materials for the bristle bundles of toothbrushes include resins, and more specifically, one or more selected from the group consisting of saturated polyesters such as polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and polytrimethylene terephthalate; polyolefins such as polypropylene; polyamides such as nylon; and elastomer resins such as olefin elastomers and styrene elastomers. Ordinary commercially available toothbrushes may be used with the oral composition.
[0068] (Manufacturing Method) In this embodiment, the oral composition includes a step of blending, for example, an abrasive, a binder, and other appropriate ingredients. To obtain an oral composition having a (TF5 / TF10) and spinnability within a specific range, it is important to appropriately select the ingredients and blending ratios contained in the oral composition and to appropriately select the manufacturing process for the oral composition. For example, it is important to appropriately select and combine the types and amounts of abrasives and binders contained in the oral composition to design the blend. A combination of abrasive silica and an inorganic binder is preferred, and a combination of abrasive silica and a thickening silica is even more preferred. It is also preferable to further blend an organic binder into the oral composition. It is also preferable to further blend a humectant into the oral composition. It is also preferable to perform the manufacturing process for the oral composition under vacuum. For example, when the oral composition contains thickening silica, an organic binder, a humectant, and water, it is preferable to add the thickening silica, abrasives, and other appropriate ingredients during or after mixing the humectant, organic binder, and water, and then stir and mix until uniform. It is also preferable to prepare a mixture of a part of the wetting agent and the organic binder in advance, add the mixture at the stage where the mixture has become homogeneous, and stir until the mixture is homogeneous. Furthermore, it is more preferable to carry out these steps under vacuum.
[0069] (Dentifrice) In the present embodiment, the dentifrice is the above-mentioned oral composition filled in a tube container, preferably a toothpaste composition filled in a tube container. In this embodiment, the oral composition has an excellent balance between adhesion to a toothbrush and ease of squeezing out of the tube container, so by filling this into a tube container to make a dentifrice, it is possible to make the dentifrice easy to handle when squeezing the dentifrice from the tube container onto a toothbrush and applying it to the oral cavity.
[0070] Furthermore, oral compositions such as toothpaste compositions are preferably used by squeezing them out of a tube container. Known containers can be used as the tube container. The material of the tube container can be, for example, one or more selected from the group consisting of resin materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and nylon; and metal materials such as aluminum. For example, the tube container may be a single-layer or multi-layer container made of these materials. The material of the innermost layer of the container is preferably one or more selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyethylene terephthalate. For example, an aluminum-laminated tube container may be used in which the innermost layer of the container is made of polyethylene and further comprises an aluminum layer.
[0071] The inner diameter of the discharge port of the tube container is preferably 1 mm or more, more preferably 2 mm or more, and even more preferably 3 mm or more. This allows for more stable reduction of the excessive force required to discharge the oral composition. The inner diameter of the discharge port of the tube container is preferably 11 mm or less, more preferably 10 mm or less, and even more preferably 9 mm or less. This allows for efficient suppression of dripping. The length of the tube container excluding the discharge port may be approximately 50 to 160 mm, and the outer circumferential length of the tube container in the width direction may be approximately 20 to 120 mm.
[0072] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, these are merely examples of the present invention, and various other configurations can also be adopted.
[0073] The present embodiment will be specifically described below with reference to examples and comparative examples, but the present embodiment is not limited to these examples.
[0074] (Examples 1 to 6, Comparative Examples 1 to 3) In these examples, oral compositions that are toothpaste compositions were prepared and evaluated. The formulations, measurements, and evaluation results for each example are shown in Tables 1 and 2. The unit of component amounts in Tables 1 and 2 is mass %, and the particle size of silica is the average particle size. Details of the components listed in Tables 1 and 2 are also shown below. Sorbitol Kao: 70% sorbitol liquid, manufactured by Kao Corporation Cosmetic concentrated glycerin: concentrated glycerin, manufactured by Sakamoto Pharmaceutical Industry Co., Ltd. Sodium alginate SHG: sodium alginate, manufactured by Maikon no Kohara Co., Ltd. NIKKOL SLS: sodium lauryl sulfate, manufactured by Nikko Chemicals Co., Ltd. Caustic soda (48%): sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, manufactured by Tatsumi Synthetic Chemical Co., Ltd.
[0075] (Preparation of Oral Composition) Sorbitol or glycerin and purified water were weighed into a beaker, and an organic binder was gradually added while stirring at 2,500 rpm at 80° C. using an emulsifying / dispersing device (Labo-Lusion, manufactured by Primix Corporation) and a stirring section (Homodisper 2.5 type, manufactured by Primix Corporation). After stirring and mixing for 3 minutes, abrasive silica, thickening silica (oil absorption 2.5 mL / g), sodium lauryl sulfate, and caustic soda were added in that order, stirring and mixing with a rubber spatula each time until the mixture was uniform.
[0076] (Tensile return force) TF5 and TF10 were measured at 25°C using the method described in Method 1 above. Instrument name: Rheometer (CR-3000EX-S, manufactured by Sun Scientific Co., Ltd., detection limit: 0.1 gf) Jig used: Pressure / elasticity measurement pressure-sensitive shaft (Φ20 mm) Measurement speed: 60 mm / min Pull-up distance: 5 mm or 10 mm Filling container: 30 mL plastic jar (diameter 43 mm) The absolute value of stress at each pull-up distance was measured three times, and the average values were calculated and used as TF5 and TF10. Although the measured values were negative, the absolute values (positive values) were used to compare the magnitude of the force. The ratio (TF5 / TF10) was obtained from TF5 and TF10.
[0077] (Spinability) Spinnability was measured at 25°C according to Method 2 described above. Name of device: Rheometer (CR-3000EX-S, manufactured by Sun Scientific Co., Ltd.) Jig used: Pressure-sensitive shaft for measuring penetration degree (Φ15 mm) Measurement speed: 1000 mm / min Pulling-up distance: 50 mm Filling container: 30 mL plastic jar (diameter 43 mm) The distance until the toothpaste composition separated from the jig used during pulling-up was measured three times, and the average value was calculated.
[0078] (Evaluation Method) (Adhesion to Toothbrush) Each composition in each example was filled into a 30 mL plastic container (Φ43 mm). A toothbrush (manufactured by Lion Corporation) with a head size of 18 mm and bristles made of saturated polyester resin was impregnated with the composition until the head was flush with the surface of the toothbrush. The toothbrush was then lifted vertically at a speed of approximately 3 cm per second, and the mass (g) of the composition adhering to the toothbrush was measured and evaluated according to the following criteria: A: Adhesion amount 1.2 g or more B: Adhesion amount 1.0 g or more but less than 1.2 g C: Adhesion amount less than 1.0 g
[0079] (Sharpness) The toothpaste composition of each example was filled into a laminate tube (manufactured by Takemoto Container Co., Ltd.) made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with a diameter of 19 mm and a size of 40Φ×130H. A one-touch cap (T-40Φ One-Touch CAP II, manufactured by Takemoto Container Co., Ltd.) made of polypropylene with a diameter of 6 mm and a size of 39Φ×24H was attached as a cap, and the toothpaste composition was extruded from the tube for about 2.5 cm onto a paper towel. The tube was then pulled sideways at a speed of about 5 cm per second, and the length of the stringy composition was measured and evaluated according to the following criteria. A: The length of the stringy composition was less than 20 mm. B: The length of the stringy composition was 20 mm or more but less than 28 mm. C: The length of the stringy composition was 28 mm or more.
