Abstract

Methods, systems and computer programs for performing an OCT scan of an anatomical item are disclosed. In one aspect, a first 3D model of an anatomical item is generated in real time and iteratively using a first reconstruction process, and a second 3D model of the anatomical item is generated with a second reconstruction process, which is an offline process that has greater computational complexity than the first reconstruction process. A visualization of the first 3D model is generated so that the user can identify areas that require additional scanning. In a further aspect, a visualization of a 3D model indicates, to a user, regions where subsurface volumes have been insufficiently scanned.
