AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing hair detangling devices, such as those described in GB2447692 and WO2018/069697, are either ineffective at detangling or cause significant hair breakage and do not impart sufficient shine, despite being commercially successful.

Method used

A hair detangling device featuring an array of flexible bristles with unique cross-sectional shapes and orientations, including bristles with tapered portions and non-aligned elongate sections, allows for gentle separation and division of hair while minimizing breakage and enhancing shine.

Benefits of technology

The device effectively detangles hair with reduced breakage and enhances shine by utilizing flexible bristles with varied cross-sections and orientations that interact differently with hair, ensuring minimal force application and optimal contact.

Abstract

A device for detangling hair comprises an array of bristles, each bristle extending from a base to a free end. The bristles are arranged in one or more rows along a longitudinal axis of the device. Some of the bristles comprise a first, relatively wide, portion which tapers from the base and a second, relatively narrow, portion which extends from the first portion to the free end. Some of the bristles do not have a first, relatively wide, portion which tapers from the base and a second, relatively narrow, portion which extends from the first portion to the free end. Within each row the bristles alternate between bristles comprising first and second portions and bristles not having first and second portions.
