[0036] As discussed above, in 6G, AI / ML-based non-orthogonal superimposed pilot and data may be used as a sub use case of AI Receiver. The details for AI / ML-based non-orthogonal superimposed pilot and data are described here. At the transmitting end, the pilot and data are transmitted in non-orthogonal superpositions. At the receiving end, the signals transmitted by non-orthogonal superposition are received through an AI / ML-based method. On the premise that the pilot does not occupy independent transmission resources, effective data transmission / reception performance and better system throughput performance may be obtained. FIG. 1A illustrates a schematic diagram for superimposed pilot and data, and FIG. 1B is a schematic diagram illustrating an example environment in which the superimposed pilot processing model is employed. As shown in FIG. 1A and 1B, the input of the superimposed pilot processing model (AI receiver) is the received symbol Y which is obtained by the procedure of modulation of the original information bit B, pilot non-orthogonal superposition, and channel passing. The output of the superimposed pilot processing model (AI receiver) is the recovered information B’ of the original information bits B.

[0037] Specifically, consider the downlink transmission configured with S subcarriers in the frequency domain, T symbols in the time domain, Nt transmitting antennas, Nr receiving antennas, and L transmission layer. The transmitter performs Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) of order 2M on the information bit stream tensor B∈ {0, 1} L×T×S×M to obtain the data tensor D∈CL×T×S (C represents the set of complex numbers) . Further, the transmitter performs non-orthogonal superposition of pilot and data to obtain superimposed symbols, that is: S=sqrt (W) ⊙D+sqrt (V) ⊙P

[0038] where P∈CL×T×S represents the pilot tensor, S∈CL×T×S is the superimposed symbol tensor, W∈RL×T×S and V∈RL×T×S (R represents the set of real numbers) represent data and pilot weight tensors respectively, sqrt (·) represents square root calculation, and ⊙ represents Hadema product. The superimposed symbols are transmitted through the channel and then sent to the receiver to obtain the received signal, that is:

[0039] where Yr∈CT×S represents the received signal of the r-th receiving antenna, 1≤r≤Nr and 1≤l≤L represent the receiving antenna and transmission layer index respectively, Hr, l∈CT×S represents the r-th receiving antenna’s equivalent channel of the transmission layer l, and Nr∈CT×S represents additive Gaussian white noise. Finally, the received signals Yr obtained by the Nr receiving antennas are spliced to obtain the final received signal

[0040] The AI receiver f (·) is used to achieve high-precision reception of the information bit stream tensor, this is: B′=p (f (Y, P) ) ∈ {0, 1} L×T×S×M

[0041] where p (·) represents the hard decision process (p (b) =0 when b<0, p (b) =1 when b≥0) .

[0042] FIG. 2 illustrates an example model structure corresponding to AI / ML-based non-orthogonal superimposed pilot and data. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the model structure comprises input layer, hidden layer and output layer.

[0043] Recent simulation results in some scenarios have shown that the performance of AI Receiver is superior to that of non-AI receiver. The non-AI receiver refers to the following methods: in the channel estimation stage, the receiver may estimate (e.g., using least squares, LS) the channel information at the resource elements where the pilot is placed based on the real pilot and the received pilot, and then restore the full channel information using interpolation algorithm. The estimated channel information may be further used for subsequent data recovery.

[0044] FIG. 3 illustrates a first example scenario, also denoted as scenario1 hereinafter. FIG. 4 illustrates a second example scenario, also denoted as scenario2 hereinafter. For these two scenarios (i.e., scenario1 and scenario2) , the corresponding system configurations are given in the table 1 below.

[0045] Table 1 -System Configurations for Scenario1 and Scenario2

[0046] For the model training process, the loss function (i.e., criterion) may be defined based on bit-level (or bit-wise) , i.e., bit-level based loss function. Moreover, for evaluation (i.e., model validation) of the model, performance metric (i.e., score, acc) is calculated based on bit-level, i.e., bit-level based performance metric.

[0047] The conventional signal processing procedure (taking data channel as an example) may comprise a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter may for example comprise: cyclic redundancy check (CRC) attachment, code block segmentation and code block CRC attachment, channel coding, code block concatenation, rate matching, scrambling, modulating, layer mapping (insert pilot, e.g., demodulation reference signal (DMRS) , phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) ) , antenna port mapping, mapping to virtual resource blocks, mapping from virtual to physical resource blocks, and / or the like. The receiver is basically a reverse procedure of the transmitter. The receiver may for example comprise: channel estimation (based on pilot) , demodulating, decoding, and / or the like.

[0048] For an AI Receiver, traditional signal processing module (s) will be replaced. FIG. 5 illustrates an example procedure corresponding to model inference. As shown in FIG. 5, for AI / ML-based non-orthogonal superimposed pilot and data, the channel estimation and demodulation module at receiver (e.g., UE) side will be replaced the AI Receiver.

[0063] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0064] Example Environments

[0065] FIG. 6A shows an example communication environment 600A in which example embod-iments of the present disclosure can be implemented. The communication environment 600A comprises a terminal device 610 and a network device 620.

[0066] In the environment 600A, a link from the network device 620 to the terminal device 610 is referred to as a downlink, while a link from the terminal device 610 to the network device 620 is referred to as an uplink. In downlink, the network device is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 610 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In uplink, the terminal device 610 is a transmitting TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0067] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 6A are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 600A may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0068] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 and the network device 620 may communi-cate with each other via a channel such as a wireless communication channel on an air interface (e.g., Uu interface) . The wireless communication channel may comprise a physical uplink con-trol channel (PUCCH) , a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , a physical random-access channel (PRACH) , a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) . Of course, any other suitable channels are also feasible.

[0069] The communications in the communication environment 600A may conform to any suit-able standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation  (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0070] Work Principle and Example Signaling for Communication

[0071] For model training (e.g., model training, model validation, model testing) or model update (e.g., fine-tuning) , given that the loss function operates at the bit-level (i.e., each bit of the B recovered by the model will be compared with the corresponding bit of the (raw) B at NW side) , UE needs to have a clear understanding of the B at NW side. Specifically, UE needs to accurately know whether each bit of the B is 0 or 1. Otherwise, the model performance will be affected, especially the upper limit of the model performance. And the same situation may also occur in performance monitoring, e.g., the performance metric may be determined based on the bit-level. In above cases, the (raw) B at NW side may also be called as ‘ground-truth (label) ’ .

[0072] FIG. 6B illustrates a further example procedure corresponding to model inference according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 6B, obtaining the B is equivalent to obtaining the transport block (TB) , or payload, data. This is because parameters or / and processing corresponding to the coding (and CRC attachment etc. ) are known to UE.

[0073] However, the current method of obtaining TB may be unreliable. Specifically, the TB is unknown (or transparent) to UE until the TB is recovered through a series of operations (e.g., channel estimation, demodulation, decoding) at UE side. Due to factors such as channel quality, channel estimation algorithm and hardware limitation, it cannot guarantee that the recovered TB will always be completely error free, i.e., each bit of the recovered TB at UE side is consistent with the TB at the NW side. Moreover, in the case of applying AI Receiver, the superimposed pilot and data will be adopted instead of non-superimposed (or separate) pilot and data, which makes it more difficult for the recovered TB to be consistent with the TB at NW side based on the current method of obtaining TB.

[0074] A good solution is that, the TB should be known to both NW and UE. In other words, NW should send a known TB to UE to ensure that UE can obtain a complete and accurate label (or ground-truth) . Obviously, compared with the known TB, the current method of obtaining TB will also bring additional unnecessary complexity at UE side. In view of the foregoing, issues about known TB transmission need to be further addressed.

[0075] Reference is made to FIG. 7, illustrate signaling flows of communication in accordance  with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For ease of discussion, FIG. 7 which will be discussed with reference to FIG. 6A, for example, by using the terminal device 610 and the network device 620.

[0076] In the following descriptions, while operations are depicted in a particular order, this should not be understood as requiring that such operations be performed in the particular order shown or in sequential order, or that all illustrated operations be performed, to achieve desirable results. In certain circumstances, multitasking and parallel processing may be advantageous. Likewise, while several specific implementation details are contained in the above discussions, these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the present disclosure, but rather as descriptions of features that may be specific to particular embodiments. Certain features that are described in the context of separate embodiments may also be implemented in combination in a single embodiment. Conversely, various features that are described in the context of a single embodiment may also be implemented in multiple embodiments separately or in any suitable sub-combination.

[0077] It is to be understood that the operations at the terminal device 610 and the network device 620 should be coordinated. In other words, the network device 620 and the terminal device 610 should have common understanding about configurations, parameters and so on. Such common understanding may be implemented by any suitable interactions between the network device 620 and the terminal device 610 or both the network device 620 and the terminal device 610 applying the same rule / policy. In the following, although some operations are described from a perspective of the terminal device 610, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the network device 620. Similarly, although some operations are described from a perspective of the network device 620, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the terminal device 610. Merely for brevity, some of the same or similar contents are omitted here.

[0078] In addition, in the following description, some interactions are performed among the terminal device 610 and the network device 620 (such as, exchanging configuration (s) and so on) . It is to be understood that the interactions may be implemented either in one single signaling / message / configuration or multiple signaling / messages / configurations, including system information, radio resource control (RRC) message, downlink control information (DCI) message, uplink control information (UCI) message, media access control (MAC) control element (CE) and so on. The present disclosure is not limited in  this regard.

[0079] In operation, as illustrated in FIG. 7, the terminal device 610 transmits (720) a first message for requesting the network device 620 transmitting at least one transport block (TB) known to the terminal device 610 and the network device 620 receives the first message accordingly.

[0080] In response to the first message, the network device 620 transmit 740 the at least one TB to the terminal device 610. In particular, the at least one TB (also call as data payload sometimes) and a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) (also call as pilot sometimes) are transmitted in non-orthogonal superpositions manner.

[0081] By transmitting the TB and DMRS in non-orthogonal superpositions manner, the known TB may be transmitted to the terminal device 610 and thus the LCM phases of an AI receiver may be proceeded accordingly.

[0090] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may request to terminate the transmission of the TB. As illustrated in FIG. 7, the terminal device 610 may transmit (770) a second message to the network device 620, where the second message indicating at least one of the following: an indication for requesting the network device 620 to stop transmitting the at least one TB, a performance monitoring result obtained based on the at least one TB, or an indication of completing data collection based on the at least one TB. In some embodiments, the performance monitoring result may include but is not limited to performance metric and / or indication of decision about LCM (e.g., fallback (to non-AI / ML) , model switching, model selection, model activation / deactivation, model update) and so on.

[0091] In the following, how does the terminal device 610 determine (750) the known TB will be discussed. It is noted that below discussions also applicable to the operation at the network device 620.

[0092] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may determine the at least one TB based on at least one of the following: a sequence type, a TB sequence generator, a TB sequence initializer, or a modulation mode (including but not limited to modulation order, modulation mapper and so on) .

[0093] In some embodiments, the time domain information may comprise at least one of the following: a system frame number (SFN) , a sub-frame number, a slot number within a sub-frame, or a symbol number within a slot.

[0094] In some embodiments, the TB sequence initializer may be determined based on at least one of the following: an indication of model or functionality about a machine learning (ML) -based receiver, wherein the at least one TB is used as input or output of the ML-based receiver, or time domain information corresponding to the at least one TB.

[0095] In some embodiments, the sequence type may be one of the following: an all-zero sequence, an all-one sequence, a random sequence, a pseudo-random sequence, a periodic sequence, an alternating sequence, a linear feedback shift register (LFSR) sequence, a hamming sequence, a synchronization sequence, a gold sequence, a m-sequence, a Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence or a Welch sequence.

[0096] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may assume the at least one TB transmitted by the network device 620 is of a same TB determined based on receiving a first indication of enabling a transmission of same TB or / and a TB sequence initializer. Accordingly, the terminal device 610 may assume the at least one TB transmitted by the network device 620 is of at least one different TB determined based on receiving a second indication of enabling a transmission of different TBs or / and at least one different TB sequence initializer.

[0097] In the following, example processes about the transmission of the TB will be discussed. In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may receive (730) at least one downlink control information (DCI) message for scheduling at least one downlink resource from the network device 620, where the at least one DCI message comprises a first field indicating whether the at least one downlink resource carries the at least one TB.

[0098] Alternatively, the first field may be omitted or the value of the first field may be assumed by the terminal device 610.

[0099] For a better understanding, a first data and pilot transmission scheme and a second first data and pilot transmission scheme are discussed first. Specifically, the first data and pilot transmission scheme may refer to a transmission where pilot and data are transmitted in a manner of non-orthogonal superimposed (i.e., via AI receiver) , and the second data and pilot transmission scheme may refer to a transmission where pilot and data are transmitted in a manner of orthogonal (i.e., a legacy manner) .

[0100] Further, parameters / configurations may be defined specific to the first data and pilot transmission scheme, where the parameters / configurations may include but is not limited to DMRS pattern, transmission and / or reception power of known TB, transmission and / or reception power of DMRS, transmission and / or reception power ratio of known TB and DMRS  and so on. Accordingly, parameters / configurations may be defined specific to the second data and pilot transmission scheme, where the parameters / configurations may include but is not limited to DMRS pattern, transmission and / or reception power of known TB, transmission and / or reception power of DMRS, transmission and / or reception power ratio of known TB and DMRS and so on.

[0101] In addition, the first data and pilot transmission scheme also may be called as an AI receiver scheme (or an AI / ML scheme) , and the second data and pilot transmission scheme also may be called as a non-AI receiver scheme (or non-AI / ML scheme, legacy scheme) .

[0102] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may assume the first field is present in following downlink control information (DCI) and / or the first field is set to a first value indicating at least one downlink resource scheduled by the DCI carries the at least one TB in accordance with a determination that a first configuration has been received, wherein the first configuration indicates at least one of the following:

[0103] ● an indication for enabling a transmission of the at least one TB and / or a transmission of the DMRS,

[0104] ● an indication of a DMRS pattern for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0105] ● a transmission and / or reception power of TB for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0106] ● a transmission and / or reception power of DMRS for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0107] ● a transmission and / or reception ratio of TB and DMRS for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0108] ● an indication of model or functionality about a machine learning (ML) -based receiver, wherein the at least one TB is used as input or output of the ML-based receiver, or

[0109] ● an indication for enabling data collection for a model training, a model update or a performance monitoring.

[0110] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may assume the first field is absent in following downlink control information (DCI) and / or the first field is set to a second value indicating at least one downlink resource scheduled by the DCI does not carry the at least one TB in accordance with a determination that a second configuration has been received, wherein the second configuration indicates at least one of the following:

[0111] ● an indication for disabling a transmission of the at least one TB and / or a transmission of the DMRS,

[0112] ● an indication of a DMRS pattern for a second data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0113] ● a transmission and / or reception power of TB for a second data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0114] ● a transmission and / or reception power of DMRS for a second data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0115] ● a transmission and / or reception ratio of TB and DMRS for a second data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0116] ● an indication of model or functionality about a machine learning (ML) -based receiver, wherein the at least one TB is used as input or output of the ML-based receiver, or

[0117] ● an indication for disabling data collection.

[0118] As illustrated in FIG. 7, in some embodiments, the terminal device 610 receive (710) a first configuration via such as RRC signalling (s) from the network device 620, where the first configuration indicating at least one of the following:

[0119] ● an indication for enabling a transmission of the at least one TB and / or a transmission of the DMRS,

[0120] ● an indication of a DMRS pattern for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0121] ● a transmission and / or reception power of TB for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0122] ● a transmission and / or reception power of DMRS for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0123] ● a transmission and / or reception power ratio of TB and DMRS for a first data and pilot transmission scheme,

[0124] ● an indication of model or functionality about a machine learning (ML) -based receiver, wherein the at least one TB is used as input or output of the ML-based receiver, or

[0125] ● an indication for enabling data collection.

[0126] Then the terminal device may receive (730) at least one downlink control information (DCI) message for scheduling at least one downlink resource from the network device 620. Due to the previously-received first configuration, the terminal device 610 may assume the at least one downlink resource scheduled by the DCI carries the at least one TB.

[0127] Further, as the transmitted TB and DMRS are known to the terminal device 610 which is different from legacy data transmission, some specific operation may be performed by the terminal device 610 as discussed below.

[0128] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may ignore (760) at least one of the following in the at least one DCI message: a new data indicator (NDI) field, or at least one hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) -related field.

[0129] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, after receiving the at least one TB, the terminal device 610 may skip (760) at least one of the following procedure: decoding, channel estimation, demodulating, or feedback hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) information.

[0130] In some embodiments, in a case that the at least one downlink resource scheduled by the at least one DCI message comprises multiple physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions used for or configured with PDSCH repetition, the terminal device 610 may expect (760) all of the multiple PDSCH transmissions to be associated with a same redundancy version (RV) identity.

[0131] In some embodiments, at least one semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) downlink resource may be used for transmitting the known TB. In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may receive (710) at least one radio resource control (RRC) message configuring at least one semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) downlink resource from the network device 620, where the at least one RRC message comprises at least one of the following:

[0132] ● an indication of whether the at least one TB is carried on the at least one SPS downlink resource,

[0133] ● an indication of whether the at least one TB is a same TB or at least one different TB,

[0134] ● an indication of a common sequence initializer for the at least one TB,

[0135] ● an indication of at least one different initializer for the at least one TB.

[0136] Then, the terminal device 610 may receive (730) at least one downlink control information (DCI) message for activating the at least one SPS downlink resource from the network device 620, and then may receive (740) the at least one TB on the at least one SPS downlink resource based on the at least one DCI message.

[0137] In some embodiments, in a case that the at least one DCI message indicates a redundancy version (RV) identity, the terminal device 610 may apply the RV identity to all of the at least one SPS downlink resource. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may expect all of the at least one SPS downlink resource being associated with a same RV identity.

[0138] In some embodiments, at least one periodic downlink resource may be used for transmitting the known TB.

[0139] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may receive (710) at least one radio resource control (RRC) message configuring at least one periodic downlink resource (also may be called configured resource or configured-grant resource sometimes) from the network device, where the at least one RRC message comprises at least one of the following:

[0140] ● an indication of whether the at least one TB is carried on the at least one periodic downlink resource,

[0141] ● an indication of whether the at least one TB is a same TB or at least one different TB,

[0142] ● an indication of a common sequence initializer for the at least one TB,

[0143] ● an indication of at least one different initializer for the at least one TB.

[0144] Then, the terminal device 610 may receive the at least one TB on the at least one periodic downlink resource based on the at least one RRC message.

[0145] In some embodiments, the terminal device 610 may expect (760) all of the at least one periodic downlink resource being associated with a same RV identity.

[0146] For a better understanding of the above discussed processes, some example embodiments are further discussed. In summary, to enable known TB transmission in non-orthogonal superpositions manner, several solutions are proposed herein to at least address the above-mentioned problems. The proposed solutions involve one or more of the following features: (1) Determination or generation of the known TB; (2) UE may send request or information about at least one known TB to NW; (3) NW may send at least one PDSCH that is used to transmit (or carry) at least one known TB to UE. UE may perform model training, model update or performance monitoring based on the received at least one known TB.

[0147] FIG. 8A illustrates a signaling chart which provides an overview of the proposed solutions, and FIG. 8B illustrates an example procedure of the proposed solutions.

[0148] The above-mentioned feature (1) will be described in detail at first. Denote the bits in a transport block (TB) delivered to layer 1 (i.e., physical layer) by a0, a1, a2, a3, …, aA-1, where ai = 0 or 1, i = 0, 1, 2, 3, …, A-1, where the A is the payload size (or TB size) .

[0149] The bits in a known TB may be defined as a bit sequence (represented by ‘TB sequence’ ) with the TB size A. In some example embodiments, the TB sequence may comprise at least one of the following: all-zero sequence, all-one sequence, random sequence, pseudo- random sequence, periodic sequence, alternating sequence, Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) Sequence, Hamming sequence, synchronization sequence, gold sequence, m-sequence, Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence, or Welch sequence.

[0150] In some further example embodiments, the TB sequence (e.g., random sequence, pseudo-random sequence) may be determined based on a sequence generator (or sequence algorithm, e.g., a polynomial, represented by ‘TB sequence generator’ ) , and / or an initializer (or seed, represented by ‘TB sequence initializer’ ) , where the TB sequence initializer may mean that, the TB sequence generator may be initialized with the TB sequence initializer.

[0151] As mentioned above, the known TB sequence may be determined based on at least one of a TB sequence type, a TB sequence generator or a TB sequence initializer. In some example embodiments, the TB sequence type may be one of: all-zero sequence, all-one sequence, random sequence, pseudo-random sequence, periodic sequence, alternating sequence, Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) Sequence, Hamming sequence, synchronization sequence, gold sequence, m-sequence, Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence, or Welch sequence. Furthermore, the TB sequence type may be indicated by NW using at least one command (e.g., RRC, MAC CE, DCI) .

[0152] Alternatively, or in addition, the TB sequence generator may refer to a polynomial. Furthermore, the TB sequence generator may be indicated by NW using at least one command (e.g., RRC, MAC CE, downlink control information (DCI) ) .

[0153] In some further example embodiments, the TB sequence initializer may be determined based on at least one of the following:

[0154] ● (Represented by ‘adaptive TB sequence initializer’ ) It may be determined based on (or associated with, adapt to) at least one of the following: Information about time domain, e.g., system frame number (SFN) , sub-frame number, slot number within a frame, symbol number within a slot. Indication of functionality or model about the AI Receiver.

[0155] ● (Represented by ‘predefined TB sequence initializer’ ) It may be determined based on a predefined (or specified) value.

[0156] ● (Represented by ‘indicated TB sequence initializer’ ) It may be determined based on an indicated value, which may be indicated by NW using at least one command (e.g., RRC, MAC CE, DCI) .

[0157] Furthermore, the known TB sequence may be determined based on modulation order  (e.g., 4, 6, 8) or modulation mapper, e.g., 16 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) , 64 QAM, 256 QAM) . Specifically, the bits in a known TB (or the modulation symbols mapped to (the bits in) the known TB) may satisfy at least one of the following.

[0158] Traverse (or cover, comprise, include, overlap, search) all modulation symbol points in the constellation diagram corresponding to a modulation mapper (e.g., 16QAM, 64 QAM, 256 QAM) .

[0159] Traverse partial (e.g., K) modulation symbol points in the constellation diagram corresponding to a modulation mapper. The value of K may be configured by NW, or / and it may be provided from UE to NW.

[0160] The above-mentioned feature (2) will be described in detail. UE may send a request for known TB to NW. Specifically, it indicates that UE requests NW to send at least one known TB (in the subsequent at least one PDSCH transmission) . Alternatively, UE may send a request (or indication, information) for at least one of the following to NW to request for NW send a known TB: model training, model validation, model testing, model update, performance monitoring, data collection (e.g., for model training, model validation, model testing, model update, performance monitoring) .

[0161] Furthermore, at least one of the following information may also be reported to NW:

[0162] ● Type of loss function in model training or model update, e.g., bit-level based loss function, slot-level or symbol-level based loss function. When UE reports bit-level based loss function, it means that UE requests NW to send a known TB.

[0163] ● Type of performance metric in performance monitoring, e.g., bit-level based performance metric, slot-level or symbol-level based performance metric. When UE reports bit-level based loss function, it means that UE requests NW to send a known TB.

[0164] Thereby, the NW can know when UE needs a known TB.

[0165] For a known TB to be sent, the NW may process (or / and send) the known TB or the PDSCH carrying the known TB. In other words, the NW may determine key configuration or parameter (e.g., about coding, modulation, layer mapping, antenna port mapping) related to the PDSCH transmission for the known TB. For example, UE may send at least one of the following information (or indication) to NW, the information may be associated with the known TB:

[0166] ● Modulation order (i.e., the number of bits per symbol) , the number of (transmission) layers,  coding rate, redundancy version (RV) (e.g., RV ID) , the number of subcarriers (or RBs) , the number of symbols within a slot, symbol number (s) (with a slot) corresponding to known TB, the number of (transmitting) antenna ports, pattern of DMRS (per layer) , power (or weight) of TB (per layer) , power (or weight) of DMRS (per layer) , power ratio of TB and DMRS, TB size, the total number of coded bits for transmission, QCL information.

[0167] ● Indication of model or functionality (e.g., associated ID, model ID, dataset ID) about the AI Receiver. Alternatively, this indication may be associated with the at least one of all information sent by UE for the feature (2) .

[0168] UE may need a specific TB (i.e., a specific TB sequence) as data sample. In order to enable NW to generate (or determine) a specific TB sequence, UE may send at least one of the following information (or indication) to NW: TB sequence type, TB sequence initializer, TB sequence generator. The information may be associated with the known TB. The TB sequence type may comprise at least one of the following: all-zero sequence, all-one sequence, random sequence, pseudo-random sequence, periodic sequence, alternating sequence, Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) Sequence, Hamming sequence, synchronization sequence, gold sequence, m-sequence, Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence, or Welch sequence.

[0169] For model training, model update or performance monitoring, UE may need more than one data samples, i.e., more than one known TB. UE may send at least one of the following information (or indication) to NW: one known TB, multiple known TB, the number of known TBs (or the number of data samples, size of training / validation / testing / monitoring dataset) , periodicity of known TB transmission (or periodicity of data collection) , time duration for known TB transmission (or time duration of data collection) . The information may be associated with the known TB. Thereby, the NW can determine how many known TB to send to UE.

[0170] In some example embodiments, the NW may determine when to stop sending known TB based on the above time duration for known TB transmission reported by UE. Alternatively, or in addition, the UE may send at least one of the following to NW: indication of completing known TB collection (or completing data collection) , request for stopping known TB transmission, performance monitoring result (s) obtained based on the known TB, or indication of decision about LCM obtained based on the known TB.

[0171] When multiple known TBs are required, UE may need multiple identical known TBs or multiple different known TBs. For example, for model training or model update, from the  perspective of data diversity, multiple different known TBs may be needed. For performance monitoring, ensuring data consistency can eliminate the impact of data differences on performance. For this purpose, UE may send at least one of the following information (or indication) about type of (multiple) known TB to NW: same known TB or different known TB. The information may be associated with the known TB. The information ‘same known TB’ may indicate that UE requests NW to send multiple (consecutive) identical known TBs. The information ‘different known TB’ may indicate that UE requests NW to send multiple (consecutive) different known TBs.

[0172] When one known TB is required, UE may need a known TB that is the same as the previous (or the last, the recent) transmitted known TB (s) , or different from the previous transmitted known TB (s) . When multiple known TBs are required, UE may require that at least one known TB (e.g., the first known TB) cannot be overlapped with the previous known TB (s) . In this case, the UE may send at least one of the following information (or indication) about type of known TB to NW: old known TB, or new known TB. The information may be associated with the known TB. The information ‘old known TB’ may indicate that UE requests NW to send at least one known TB that is the same as the previous (or the last, the recent) transmitted known TB (s) . The information ‘new known TB’ may indicate that UE requests NW to send at least one known TB that is different from the previous (or the last, the recent) transmitted known TB (s) .

[0173] ‘Same known TB’ or ‘old known TB’ may mean that at least of the following information corresponding to two known TBs are the same: TB sequence type, TB sequence initializer, or TB sequence generator. ‘Different known TB’ or ‘new known TB’ may mean that at least of the following information corresponding to two known TBs are different: TB sequence type, TB sequence initializer, or TB sequence generator.

[0174] The above-mentioned feature (3) will be described in detail. In some example embodiments, the NW may use at least one DCI to schedule at least one PDSCH to send at least one known TB, as shown in FIG. 9. FIG. 9 illustrates an example scheme for sending the known TB to UE according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In this case, the UE may receive a DCI (or PDCCH) scheduling a PDSCH transmission, where the PDSCH carries a known TB.

[0175] In one example embodiment, the UE may determine whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB based on the scheduling DCI, i.e., the DCI scheduling the PDSCH carrying the known TB. Specifically, a bit field in the DCI may indicate whether the DCI schedules a  PDSCH carrying a known TB, in other words, whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB. For example, a new bit field (e.g., known data indicator, represented by ‘KDI’ ) may be introduced in the DCI to indicate whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB, where the length of the KDI may be 0 or 1 bit.

[0176] When the length of KDI field is 1 bit, the bit value of 1 indicates that the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB, the bit value of 0 indicates that the scheduled PDSCH carries a unknown TB. If UE is provided with a first configuration, UE may assume that the length of the KDI may be 1 bit, optionally, the KDI field is present; if UE is not provided with the first configuration or / and the UE is provided with a second configuration, UE may assume that the length of the KDI is 0 bit, optionally, the KDI field is absent.

[0177] The first configuration may comprise or indicate at least one of the following: enabling known TB transmission, TB or / and DMRS transmission scheme / mode for AI / ML (e.g., AI Receiver) , DMRS pattern for AI / ML, power or / and power ratio for data or / and pilot (e.g., DMRS) for AI / ML, indication of functionality or model about AI Receiver, enabling data collection for model training, model update or performance monitoring. Alternatively, or in addition, the second configuration may comprise or indicate at least one of the following: disabling known TB transmission, TB or / and DMRS transmission scheme / mode for non-AI / ML, DMRS pattern for non-AI / ML, new power or / and power ratio for data or / and pilot for non-AI / ML, disabling data collection for model training, model update or performance monitoring.

[0178] If UE does not support the functionality or model about the AI receiver, UE may ignore the KDI field. Additionally, a new DCI format including the KDI field may be introduced. Specifically, the new DCI format (e.g., DCI format 1_4, 4_X) is used for the scheduling of at least one PDSCH carrying at least one known TB in at least one cell.

[0179] In a further example embodiment, the UE may determine whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB based on a new RNTI, e.g., dedicated RNTI for known TB. For example, if UE receives a PDCCH (or PDSCH) with CRC scrambled by the dedicated RNTI, UE may assume that PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH (or the PDSCH) carries a known TB.

[0180] In a still further example embodiment, the UE may determine whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB based on the reception of a first command. For example, if UE receives a first command (e.g., RRC, MAC CE, DCI) , after the first command takes effect, UE may assume that a (subsequent) DCI schedules a PDSCH carrying a known TB. By way of  example rather than limitation, the first command may indicate at least one of the following: enabling known TB transmission, TB or / and DMRS transmission scheme / mode for AI / ML (e.g., AI Receiver) , DMRS pattern for AI / ML, power or / and power ratio for data or / and pilot (e.g., DMRS) for AI / ML, indication of functionality or model about AI Receiver, enabling data collection for model training, model update or performance monitoring.

[0181] Furthermore, UE may assume that the DCI schedules a PDSCH carrying a known TB only within a time duration or window (e.g., time duration for data collection) . The time duration may be predefined or indicated by a command (e.g., the first command) .

[0182] In addition, for a known TB scheduled by a DCI, the New Data Indicator (NDI) field (or a new bit field) in the scheduling DCI may be used to indicate whether the (scheduled) known TB is old (e.g., bit value of 0) or new (bit value of 1) . Thereby, old known TB and new known TB may be achieved.

[0183] For achieving same known TB and different known TB, the same scheme as achieving old or new known TB may be adopted. Alternatively, for a known TB scheduled by a DCI, if UE receives a command comprising a first indication indicating (before receiving the scheduling DCI) or / and if the scheduling DCI indicates the first indication, UE may determine the known TB based on a predefined or indicated TB sequence initializer. The first indication indicates at least one of the following: same known TB or a TB sequence initializer. Otherwise, if UE does not the command, or / and if UE receives a further command comprising a second indication indicating (before receiving the scheduling DCI) or / and if the scheduling DCI indicates the second indication, UE may determine the known TB based on an adaptive TB sequence initializer. The second indication indicates at least different known TB.

[0184] In the case of known TB transmission, UE may only need to collect the received data (denoted as Y in FIG. 10, which is a schematic diagram illustrating an example environment in which the superimposed pilot processing model is employed) corresponding to the transmitted known TB. Therefore, UE may not need to perform (i.e., ignore, skip) at least one of the following procedures: decoding, demodulating, channel estimation, channel estimation and demodulating (i.e., procedures or functions of the AI Receiver) .

[0185] In the case of known TB transmission, at least one existing bit field in the DCI (e.g., DCI format 1_1) may be useless, e.g., new data indicator (NDI) field, HARQ related bit field (s) . Therefore, UE may ignore the NDI field, and UE may not feedback (or send) HARQ (or HARQ-ACK) information (corresponding to this PDSCH transmission) . Specifically, if (or after) UE  reports at least one request or / and information mentioned for feature (2) , for a DCI scheduling (or activating) a PDSCH and carrying a known TB (or / and unknown TB, i.e., existing TB) , UE may assume that:

[0186] ● At least one of the following bit field about HARQ in the DCI is absent, or length of the at least one of the following bit field about HARQ in the DCI is 0 bit, or UE may ignore the at least one of the following bit field about HARQ: HARQ process number, Downlink assignment index, PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator, One-shot HARQ-ACK request, Enhanced Type 3 codebook indicator, New feedback indicator, HARQ-ACK retransmission indicator, CBG transmission information (CBGTI) , CBG flushing out information (CBGFI) .

[0187] ● NDI field in the DCI is absent, or length of the at least one of the NDI field in the DCI is 0 bit, or UE may ignore the NDI field.

[0188] Considering that the data is known to UE, for a scheduled PDSCH carrying the known TB, UE may always provide HARQ-ACK information (in a PUCCH / PUSCH transmission) corresponding to the PDSCH transmission regardless of whether the transmitted data (e.g., the CRC bits) is successfully decoded.

[0189] Alternatively, for the at least one of the above bit field about HARQ, a new bit value (dedicated for known TB) may be introduced. For example, PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator may indicate a new (or dedicated, specified) bit value, which is used to indicate that UE perform HARQ feedback in a dedicated (or specified) timing indicated the new bit value.

[0190] Alternatively, in the case of known TB transmission, UE may use the HARQ-ACK bits corresponding to the PDSCH transmission provide at least one of the following information: (1) whether at least one condition about performance monitoring is fulfilled; for example, the condition may comprise monitoring result or output (e.g., the difference between the known TB and the recovered TB (i.e., outputted by the AI receiver) ) corresponding to the known TB meet a certain threshold; (2) whether at least one condition about data collection (for model training, model update or performance monitoring) is fulfilled; for example, the condition may comprise at least one of the collected data is enough (e.g., the number of collected data samples meet a certain threshold) , the quality of the known TB meet a certain threshold (e.g., the received data corresponding to the known TB may be unacceptable for the AI Receiver at UE side) .

[0191] In some example embodiments, the NW may use a DCI to schedule a PDSCH  repetition (i.e., multiple PDSCH) to send at least one known TB, as shown in FIG. 11. FIG. 11 illustrates another example scheme for sending the known TB to UE according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example shown in FIG. 11, the repetition number is 4, slot-based PDSCH repetition is configured.

[0192] The UE may receive a DCI (or PDCCH) scheduling a PDSCH transmission repetition, and each PDSCH transmission (occasion) corresponds to a known TB, i.e., each PDSCH carries a known TB. The PDSCH repetition may be configured as slot-based repetition, TDM (time division multiplexing) -based repetition or FDM (frequency division multiplexing) -based repetition.

[0193] In one example embodiment, the UE may determine whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB based on the scheduling DCI, i.e., the DCI scheduling the PDSCH carrying the known TB.

[0194] When the length of KDI field is 1 bit, the bit value of 1 indicates that the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB, the bit value of 0 indicates that the scheduled PDSCH carries a unknown TB.

[0195] The first configuration may comprise or indicate at least one of the following: enabling known TB transmission, TB or / and DMRS transmission scheme / mode for AI / ML (e.g., AI Receiver) , DMRS pattern for AI / ML, power or / and power ratio for data or / and pilot (e.g., DMRS) for AI / ML, indication of functionality or model about AI Receiver, enabling data collection for model training, model update or performance monitoring.

[0196] If UE does not support the functionality or model about the AI receiver, UE may ignore the KDI field. Additionally, a new DCI format including the KDI field may be introduced. Specifically, the new DCI format (e.g., DCI format 1_4, 4_X) is used for the scheduling of at least one PDSCH carrying at least one known TB in at least one cell.

[0197] In a further example embodiment, the UE may determine whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB based on a new RNTI, e.g., dedicated RNTI for known TB. For example, if UE receives a PDCCH (or PDSCH) with CRC scrambled by the dedicated RNTI, UE may assume that PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH (or the PDSCH) carries a known TB.

[0198] In a still further example embodiment, the UE may determine whether the scheduled PDSCH carries a known TB based on the reception of a first command.

[0199] Furthermore, UE may assume that the DCI schedules a PDSCH carrying a known TB only within a time duration or window (e.g., time duration for data collection) . The time duration may be predefined or indicated by a command (e.g., the first command) .

[0200] In addition, for a known TB scheduled by a DCI, the New Data Indicator (NDI) field (or a new bit field) in the scheduling DCI may be used to indicate whether the (scheduled) known TB is old (e.g., bit value of 0) or new (bit value of 1) . Thereby, old known TB and new known TB may be achieved.

[0201] For achieving same known TB and different known TB, the same scheme as achieving old or new known TB may be adopted.

[0202] In the case of known TB transmission, UE may only need to collect the received data (denoted as Y in FIG. 10) corresponding to the transmitted known TB. Therefore, UE may not need to perform (i.e., ignore, skip) at least one of the following procedures: decoding, demodulating, channel estimation, channel estimation and demodulating (i.e., procedures or functions of the AI Receiver) .

[0203] In the case of known TB transmission, at least one existing bit field in the DCI (e.g., DCI format 1_1) may be useless, e.g., new data indicator (NDI) field, HARQ related bit field (s) .

[0204] ● At least one of the following bit field about HARQ in the DCI is absent, or length of the at least one of the following bit field about HARQ in the DCI is 0 bit, or UE may ignore the at least one of the following bit field about HARQ: HARQ process number, Downlink assignment index, PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator, One-shot HARQ-ACK request, Enhanced Type 3 codebook indicator, New feedback indicator, HARQ-ACK retransmission indicator, CBG transmission information (CBGTI) , CBG flushing out information (CBGFI) .

[0205] ● NDI field in the DCI is absent, or length of the at least one of the NDI field in the DCI is 0 bit, or UE may ignore the NDI field.

[0206] Considering that the data is known to UE, for a scheduled PDSCH carrying the known TB, UE may always provide HARQ-ACK information (in a PUCCH / PUSCH transmission) corresponding to the PDSCH transmission regardless of whether the transmitted data (e.g., the CRC bits) is successfully decoded.

[0207] Alternatively, for the at least one of the above bit field about HARQ, a new bit value (dedicated for known TB) may be introduced. For example, PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator may indicate a new (or dedicated, specified) bit value, which is used to indicate that UE perform HARQ feedback in a dedicated (or specified) timing indicated the new bit value.

[0208] Alternatively, in the case of known TB transmission, UE may use the HARQ-ACK bits corresponding to the PDSCH transmission provide at least one of the following information: (1) whether at least one condition about performance monitoring is fulfilled; for example, the condition may comprise monitoring result or output (e.g., the difference between the known TB and the recovered TB (i.e., outputted by the AI receiver) ) corresponding to the known TB meet a certain threshold; (2) whether at least one condition about data collection (for model training, model update or performance monitoring) is fulfilled; for example, the condition may comprise at least one of the collected data is enough (e.g., the number of collected data samples meet a certain threshold) , the quality of the known TB meet a certain threshold (e.g., the received data corresponding to the known TB may be unacceptable for the AI Receiver at UE side) .

[0209] In one example embodiment, for a PDSCH transmission repetition for transmitting known TB, UE may assume (or expect) that the same RV (e.g., RV ID) is applied for multiple PDSCH transmission, e.g., for 4 PDSCH transmission, the corresponding RV IDs = 0, 0, 0, 0, or 1, 1, 1, 1, or 2, 2, 2, 2, or 3, 3, 3, 3. In other words, UE may assume that RV applied for a PDSCH transmission is the same as the RV applied for the first PDSCH transmission. Thereby, the RVs corresponding to multiple PDSCH transmissions can ensure consistency.

[0210] Alternatively, or in addition, for a PDSCH transmission repetition for transmitting known TB, UE may assume (or expect) that the same TCI state is applied for multiple PDSCH transmissions. In other words, UE may assume that TCI state applied for a PDSCH transmission is the same as the TCI state applied for the first PDSCH transmission. Thereby, the beams corresponding to multiple PDSCH transmissions can ensure consistency.

[0211] In some example embodiments, the NW may use semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) PDSCH to send at least one known TB, as shown in FIG. 12. FIG. 12 illustrates a further example scheme for sending the known TB to UE according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In this case, the SPS PDSCH may be configured by an RRC and activated or deactivated by a DCI.

[0212] The UE may be provided with an RRC configuration about SPS. UE receives a DCI activating a SPS PDSCH, and each PDSCH transmission (occasion) corresponds to a known TB, i.e., each PDSCH carries a known TB.

[0213] In order to determine whether the activated SPS PDSCH carries a known TB, UE may, for example, determine whether the activated SPS PDSCH carries a known TB based on the activating DCI. Alternatively, if UE receives a PDCCH with CRC scrambled by a dedicated  RNTI for known TB, UE may assume that SPS PDSCH activated by the PDCCH carries a known TB. In a further example embodiment, if UE receives the first command, after the first command takes effect, UE may assume that a (subsequent) DCI activates SPS PDSCH carrying a known TB. Furthermore, UE may assume that the DCI activates a PDSCH carrying a known TB only within a time duration or window. In a still further example embodiment, the RRC configuration about SPS (e.g., SPS-Config) may comprise a parameter indicating whether the SPS PDSCH carries the known TB. Specifically, if the parameter is configured or / and the parameter indicates the SPS PDSCH carries the known TB, UE may assume the SPS PDSCH configured by the RRC configuration carries a known TB.

[0214] The RRC configuration about SPS may comprise at least one of the following: a first parameter indicating whether same known TB or different known TB is applied, a second parameter indicating a TB sequence initializer. Optionally, the activating DCI may indicate at least one of the following: indication of whether same known TB or different known TB is applied, a TB sequence initializer. Specifically, if the first parameter is configured, or / and the first parameter indicates same known TB is applied, or / and the second parameter is configured, for the first PDSCH transmission (occasion) , UE may determine the known TB based on the predefined or indicated TB sequence initializer. For other PDSCH transmission, UE may apply the known TB (i.e., the TB sequence initializer) for the first PDSCH transmission to other PDSCH transmission. If the first parameter is not configured, or / and the first parameter indicates different known TB is applied, or / and the second parameter is not configured transmission (occasion) , UE may determine the known TB based on an adaptive TB sequence initializer. Thereby, same known TB and different known TB can be achieved.

[0215] For SPS PDSCH, the RV applied for the first SPS PDSCH transmission may be determined based on the activating DCI, i.e., RV field in the activating DCI. For other SPS PDSCH transmission, UE may apply the RV applied for the first SPS PDSCH transmission to other SPS PDSCH transmission. Optionally, for SPS PDSCH transmission associated with the same SPS ID (i.e., SPS-ConfigIndex) , UE may expect that the same RV (e.g., RV ID) is applied for SPS PDSCH transmission. Thereby, the RVs corresponding to multiple SPS PDSCH transmissions can ensure consistency.

[0216] Alternatively, or in addition, after determining the TCI state applied for the first SPS PDSCH transmission, for other SPS PDSCH transmission, UE may apply the TCI state applied for the first SPS PDSCH transmission to other SPS PDSCH transmission. Optionally, for SPS PDSCH transmission associated with the same SPS ID (i.e., SPS-ConfigIndex) , UE may expect  that the same TCI state is applied for SPS PDSCH transmission. Thereby, the beams corresponding to multiple SPS PDSCH transmissions can ensure consistency.

[0217] In some example embodiments, similar to configured grant (in UL) , periodic PDSCH may be configured by RRC to send at least one known TB, as shown in FIG. 13. FIG. 13 illustrates a still further example scheme for sending the known TB to UE according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0218] UE may be provided with an RRC configuration about (configured) periodic PDSCH, and each PDSCH transmission (occasion) corresponds to a known TB, i.e., each PDSCH carries a known TB.

[0219] Issues and corresponding solutions can refer to embodiments where SPS PDSCH is used for transmitting the TB. Specifically, replace with the RRC configuration about SPS with the RRC configuration about (configured periodic PDSCH) , and replace with the SPS PDSCH with the (configured) periodic PDSCH. Merely for brevity, the same or similar contents are omitted herein.
