Description

[0001] A MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The invention relates to a monitoring system and method for detecting traffic violations on highways.

[0004] PRIOR ART

[0005] Traffic rules are established to increase road safety, reduce potential traffic accidents, and manage traffic flow in an orderly manner. Failure to comply with these rules may cause various accidents. For this reason, traffic violations are detected and relevant sanctions are imposed. For this purpose, speed radars, red light cameras, automatic license plate recognition systems and traffic violation detection systems are used to detect violations such as running red lights, exceeding average speed limits, exceeding instantaneous speed limits, illegal parking, non-compliance with traffic signs, and improper lane usage.

[0006] Red light violations are recorded through cameras located at certain intersections, while speed violations are usually detected by radars located in another location. This makes the processes of combining and analyzing data very complex. There are separate monitoring centers for each type of violation. However, this makes data integration and analysis difficult. Therefore, problems arise in traffic safety management. Furthermore, the establishment of separate systems and monitoring centers for each type of violation causes problems such as high costs and labor requirements, and a decrease in overall operational efficiency.

[0007] As a result, all the above-mentioned problems have made it imperative to make an innovation in the relevant technical field.

[0008] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a monitoring system and method for eliminating the above-mentioned disadvantages and bringing new advantages to the relevant technical field.

[0009] An object of the invention is to introduce a monitoring system and method for monitoring different types of devices through a single system.

[0010] To achieve all the objects mentioned above and that will emerge from the following detailed description, the present invention relates to a method performed by means of a processor unit in a monitoring system comprising said processor unit enabling the detection of status of traffic violations according to at least one traffic data received from a plurality of data collection units disposed on highways that enable the collection of at least one traffic data related to said highways. Accordingly, its novelty is that it comprises the steps of receiving at least one traffic data from at least one data collection unit via a communication unit, comparing said traffic data with at least one reference traffic data, if it is determined that the traffic data is different from the reference traffic data, generating a violation data comprising a traffic violation information, receiving vehicle information of at least one vehicle causing said traffic violation from a storage unit, generating a traffic status data including vehicle information and violation data, transmitting said traffic status data to a central server via the communication unit.

[0011] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized by access to the data via a user interface connected to a server.

[0012] Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises the process steps of receiving the traffic fine information corresponding to said violation data from the storage unit containing the traffic fine information corresponding to the violation data, transmitting said traffic fine information to the server via the communication unit, and transmitting the traffic fine information to the user via the user interface connected to the server.

[0013] Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises the process steps of receiving the safety information of at least one vehicle causing said traffic violation from the storage unit by means of a communication unit, generating an alarm, if necessary, based on the safety information, and transmitting said alarm information to the user via the user interface.

[0014] The invention relates to a system comprising a processor unit enabling the detection of status of traffic violations according to at least one traffic data received from a plurality of data collection units disposed on highways that enable the collection of at least one traffic data related to said highways. Accordingly, it is characterized in that the processor unit is configured to perform the method steps in claims 1-3.

The data collection unit (50) described herein may be at least one of the systems such as vehicle counters that measure traffic flow and vehicle density, speed sensors that detect the speed of vehicles and license plate recognition systems that collect data by reading vehicle license plates, roadside cameras used to track traffic conditions and density, sensors that collect weather data affecting road conditions, force sensors that measure vehicle weight, GPS tracking devices that collect location information of vehicles in traffic, collision detection sensors that determine the location and severity of accidents, and radar systems that determine the speed and direction of moving vehicles. In a possible embodiment of the invention, the traffic data collection device is at least one of a red light camera, a parking violation camera, a mobile traffic camera, a speed radar. In a possible embodiment of the invention, the traffic data collection device is a red light camera. In a possible embodiment of the invention, the traffic data collection device is a parking violation camera. In a possible embodiment of the invention, the traffic data collection device is a mobile traffic camera. In a possible embodiment of the invention, the traffic data collection device is a speed radar. These data collection units (50) track the traffic flow, vehicle behavior, and environmental factors on the highways and collect various traffic data to transmit them to the central units.

[0021] Data collection units (50) can be provided in different brands, models, etc. The monitoring system (10) enables the automatic collection of data from different types of devices of different brands, models, etc. Different types of devices enable the detection of different traffic violations. This increases the flexibility and applicability of the system, allowing it to be used and easily integrated into various traffic monitoring systems (10).

[0022] Referring to Fig. 1 , the monitoring system (10) comprises a processor unit (20) enabling the detection of status of traffic violations according to at least one traffic data received from a plurality of data collection units (50). In a possible embodiment of the invention, said processor unit (20) can be a CPU, a GPU, a microprocessor, etc. A storage unit is provided for storing data associated with the processor unit (20). In a possible embodiment of the invention, the storage unit (40) can be an internal memory. Said internal memory can be a memory unit such as RAM, ROM, SSD, HDD, etc.

[0023] In another possible embodiment of the invention, the storage unit can be an external memory. Said external memory can be a central server. In another possible embodiment of the invention, the storage unit can be at least one of the internal memory and / or external memory.

[0024] The storage unit (40) can also contain vehicle information for each vehicle in highway traffic. Furthermore, it can contain parameters related to data collection units (50) and monitored traffic rules or collected traffic data, and authorization information. This vehicle information may include the registration information of the vehicle. The storage unit (40) can also comprise traffic fine information corresponding to the violation. For example, the information about the amount of money to be paid by a vehicle exceeding the speed limit by 20% is stored in the storage unit (40). According to this example, exceeding the speed limit by 20% indicates a violation The information on the punitive action to be taken in response to this violation is stored in the storage unit (40).
