[0069] Principles of the present disclosure will now be described with reference to some embodiments. It is to be understood that these embodiments are described only for the purpose of illustration and help those skilled in the art to understand and implement the present disclosure, without suggesting any limitation as to the scope of the disclosure. The disclosure described herein may be implemented in various manners other than the ones described below.

[0070] In the following description and claims, unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skills in the art to which this disclosure belongs.

[0071] References in the present disclosure to “one embodiment, ” “an example embodiment, ” “an embodiment, ” “some embodiments, ” and the like indicate that the embodiment (s) described may include a particular feature, structure, or characteristic, but it is not necessary that every embodiment includes the particular feature, structure, or characteristic. Moreover, such phrases do not necessarily refer to the same embodiment (s) . Further, when a particular feature, structure, or characteristic is described in connection with an embodiment, it is submitted that it is within the knowledge of one skilled in the art to affect such feature, structure, or characteristic in connection with other embodiments whether or not explicitly described.

[0072] It shall be understood that although the terms “first” and “second” or the like may be used herein to describe various elements, these elements should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element from another element. For example, a first element could also be termed as a second element, and similarly, a second element could also be termed as a first element, without departing from the scope of embodiments. As used herein, the term “and / or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the listed terms.

[0073] The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of example embodiments. As used herein, the singular forms “a” , “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises” , “comprising” , “has” , “having” , “includes” and / or “including” , when used herein, specify the presence of stated features, elements, and / or components etc., but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, elements, components and / or combinations thereof.

[0074] As used herein, the term “communication network” refers to a network following any suitable communication standards, such as, 5G NR, long term evolution (LTE) , LTE-advanced (LTE-A) , wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) , high-speed packet access (HSPA) , narrow band internet of things (NB-IoT) , and so on. Further, the communications between a terminal device and a network device in the communication network may be performed according to any suitable generation communication protocols, including but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, and / or any other protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Embodiments of the present disclosure may be applied in various communication systems. Given the rapid development in communications, there will also be future type communication technologies and systems in which the present disclosure may be embodied. It should not be seen as limiting the scope of the present disclosure to only the aforementioned systems.

[0075] As used herein, the term “network device” generally refers to a node in a communication network via which a terminal device can access the communication network and receive services therefrom. The network device may refer to a base station (BS) or an access point (AP) , for example, a node B (NodeB or NB) , a radio access network (RAN) node, an evolved NodeB (eNodeB or eNB) , an NR NB (also referred to as a gNB) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , a radio header (RH) , an infrastructure device for a V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication, a transmission and reception point (TRP) , a reception point (RP) , a remote radio head (RRH) , a relay, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, a low power node such as a femto BS, a pico BS, and so forth, depending on the applied terminology and technology.

[0076] As used herein, the term “terminal device” generally refers to any end device that may be capable of wireless communications. By way of example rather than a limitation, a terminal device may also be referred to as a communication device, a user equipment (UE) , an end user device, a subscriber station (SS) , an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) , a portable subscriber station, a mobile station (MS) , or an access terminal (AT) . The terminal device may include, but is not limited to, a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a smart phone, a voice over IP (VoIP) phone, a wireless local loop phone, a tablet, a wearable terminal device, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , a portable computer, a desktop computer, an image capture terminal device such as a digital camera, a gaming terminal device, a music storage and playback appliance, a vehicle-mounted wireless terminal device, a wireless endpoint, a mobile station, laptop-embedded equipment (LEE) , laptop-mounted equipment (LME) , a USB dongle, a smart device, wireless customer-premises equipment (CPE) , an internet of things (loT) device, a watch or other wearable, a head-mounted display (HMD) , a vehicle, a drone, a medical device (for example, a remote surgery device) , an industrial device (for example, a robot and / or other wireless devices operating in an industrial and / or an automated processing chain contexts) , a consumer electronics device, a device operating on commercial and / or industrial wireless networks, and the like. In the following description, the terms: “terminal device, ” “communication device, ” “terminal, ” “user equipment” and “UE, ” may be used interchangeably.

[0077] In the CSI reporting process, UE measures the wireless channel based on reference signals (e.g., pilots or CSI-RS) transmitted from the network device. The measured channel characteristics, such as channel quality, spatial properties, and interference levels, are quantized into predefined metrics like Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) , Precoding Matrix Indicator (PMI) , and Rank Indicator (RI) . These parameters are encoded into a feedback report and transmitted back to the network device via uplink channels. The base station then adapts transmission strategies (e.g., modulation schemes, beamforming, or MIMO configurations) to optimize throughput and reliability. In this reporting process, the UE may send the CSI report characterizing the “past” channel state to the network device, since the reference signals have already been measured in the previous time instances earlier than the CSI reporting. In some cases, the network may expect more “real-time” or “future” CSI reports to help make decisions on communication resource management or scheduling for future time periods without delay.

[0078] As mentioned above, the artificial intelligence (AI)  / machine learning (ML) model is being considered for the CSI reporting process. Generally, AI / ML model focuses on enabling machines to learn patterns from data without explicit programming. AI / ML algorithms iteratively analyze datasets (or data samples) to identify trends, build predictive models, and make data-driven decisions. For example, AI-driven prediction and / or CSI compression are explored to enhance the performance of the CSI reporting.

[0079] AI-driven prediction, often using e.g., neural networks (e.g., LSTMs or CNNs) , analyzes historical and real-time CSI data to forecast future channel states. This minimizes latency and enhances robustness in scenarios like vehicle-to-everything (V2X) or UAV communications, optimizing resource utilization, reduce signaling redundancy, and improve system responsiveness.

[0080] Furthermore, due to the massive CSI generated by modern multi-antenna systems (e.g., massive MIMO) or high-frequency band communications (e.g., millimeter-wave) , direct transmission consumes excessive resources. In turn, CSI compression has been introduced to enhance the spectral usage efficiency. The CSI compression refers to the process of reducing the volume of channel state information in wireless communication systems through algorithms or techniques, aiming to lower feedback overhead and improve transmission efficiency.

[0081] Regarding the CSI prediction and CSI compression, several example usage cases are listed in Table 1 below. Table 1

[0082] Among these cases 1-5, the case 3 proposed that CSI predication and CSI combination are combined together, and the target CSI slot (s) is future slot. For example, the UE may use past CSI information to derive the CSI for future slot (s) . In some embodiments of the disclosure, the past CSI information may include past (prediction) model inputs and / or any information derived from them. For the network, it doesn’t utilize the past CSI information.

[0083] No matter which case is adopted, the performance of the corresponding CSI reporting procedure needs to be monitored. In a simple example, the UE may predict a CSI for a future slot, compress the predicted CSI and transmit the compressed predicted CSI for future slot to the network device. The network device needs to recover the CSI of the future slot based on the compressed predicted CSI for future slot. The UE or the network should be aware whether the predicted CSI at gNB side is correct with respect to the ground truth of CSI in a sense of certain error level. Otherwise, the resource management or scheduling based on the incorrect recovered CSI does not match the actual channel conditions, which may cause failure communication. The error may be caused by the prediction (model) and / or compression (model) , and the performance monitoring may be performed jointly for both of them or performed separately for the prediction or compression. For example, for case 3 and case 4, the UE may perform prediction as a separate step or jointly with compression. Similarly, the network may perform prediction as a separate step or jointly with reconstruction / decompression.

[0084] Furthermore, for performance monitoring, the recovered CSI at gNB side may be compared with a corresponding label, such that the network can determine the performance metric. In some examples, for case 3, , option 1, option 2a and option 2b regarding the monitoring labels are listed below.

[0085] In option 1, the monitoring label is derived based on the predicted CSI of the future slot (s) . In this case, CSI prediction output is used as input to the CSI generation part at UE side. This may correspond to monitoring of CSI compression only. The CSI prediction may be monitored separately.

[0086] In option 2, the monitoring label is derived based on the measured CSI for the future slot (s) . In option 2a of option 2, CSI prediction output is used as input to CSI generation part. This may correspond to end-to-end monitoring of CSI prediction and compression. In option 2b of option 2, the measured CSI of the future slot (s) is used as input to CSI generation part for monitoring purpose. This may correspond to monitoring of CSI compression only. CSI prediction may be monitored separately. Specifically, some characteristics regarding these options are listed in Table 2 below. Table 2

[0087] In view of the above, regarding how to perform performance monitoring of the (AI / ML) model-based CSI reporting, there is still no detailed procedure. For example, which option is adopted and how to associate corresponding measurement, prediction or reporting.

[0088] In view of these analyses and considerations, embodiments of the disclosure provide a solution for monitoring performance of model-based CSI reporting. In the solution, the UE may report a certain type or metric of CSIs associated with a time instance for a reference signal (RS) configuration, and / or a pair of CSIs, so that the network device monitors the performance of CSI prediction and / or CSI compression accordingly.

[0089] In an aspect, a terminal device determines one or more time instances based on a configuration for reporting channel state information (CSI) and / or a time instance of transmitting CSI. Then, the terminal device transmits one or more CSI associated with the one or more time instances to a network device. These one or more CSIs are for performance monitoring or model inference.

[0090] In this way, enabling flexible monitoring of joint CSI prediction and compression, or separate compression / predication, with configurable reporting to distinguish different CSI types (predicted / measured, compressed / uncompressed) . It ensures accurate data association via time-instance, supports both AI-based and legacy mechanisms, and handles potential transmission issues robustly. This balances performance monitoring precision with adaptability, enhancing efficiency in wireless network optimization without excessive complexity.

[0091] FIG. 1A illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 that supports the operation in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one or more network entities 102 (also referred to as network equipment (NE) ) , one or more UEs 104, a core network 106, and a packet data network 108. The wireless communications system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 5G network, such as an NR network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G. Additionally, the wireless communications system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0095] The one or more UEs 104 may be devices in different forms or having different capabilities. Some examples of UEs 104 are illustrated in FIG. 1. A UE 104 may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as the network entities 102, other UEs 104, or network equipment (e.g., the core network 106, the packet data network 108, a relay device, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, or another network equipment) , as shown in FIG. 1. Additionally, or alternatively, a UE 104 may support communication with other network entities 102 or UEs 104, which may act as relays in the wireless communications system 100.

[0096] A UE 104 may also be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link 114. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0097] A network entity 102 may support communications with the core network 106, or with another network entity 102, or both. For example, a network entity 102 may interface with the core network 106 through one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The network entities 102 may communicate with each other over the backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an X2, Xn, or another network interface) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., between the network entities 102) . In some other implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 106) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0098] In some implementations, a network entity 102 may be configured in a disaggregated architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed among two or more network entities 102, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance) , or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN) ) . For example, a network entity 102 may include one or more of a central unit (CU) , a distributed unit (DU) , a radio unit (RU) , a RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) (e.g., a Near-Real Time RIC (Near-RT RIC) , a Non-Real Time RIC (Non-RT RIC) ) , a Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) system, or any combination thereof.

[0099] An RU may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , or a transmission reception point (TRP) . One or more components of the network entities 102 in a disaggregated RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entities 102 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 of a disaggregated RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., a virtual CU (VCU) , a virtual DU (VDU) , a virtual RU (VRU) ) .

[0100] Split of functionality between a CU, a DU, and an RU may be flexible and may support different functionalities depending upon which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, radio frequency functions, and any combinations thereof) are performed at a CU, a DU, or an RU. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between a CU and a DU such that the CU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the DU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. In some implementations, the CU may host upper protocol layer (e.g., a layer 3 (L3) , a layer 2 (L2) ) functionality and signaling (e.g., Radio Resource Control (RRC) , service data adaption protocol (SDAP) , Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) ) . The CU may be connected to one or more DUs or RUs, and the one or more DUs or RUs may host lower protocol layers, such as a layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or an L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functionality and signaling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU 160.

[0101] Additionally, or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between a DU and an RU such that the DU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the RU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU may support one or multiple different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs) . In some implementations, a functional split between a CU and a DU, or between a DU and an RU may be within a protocol layer (e.g., some functions for a protocol layer may be performed by one of a CU, a DU, or an RU, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by a different one of the CU, the DU, or the RU) .

[0102] A CU may be functionally split further into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. A CU may be connected to one or more DUs via a midhaul communication link (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u) , and a DU may be connected to one or more RUs via a fronthaul communication link (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface) . In some implementations, a midhaul communication link or a fronthaul communication link may be implemented in accordance with an interface (e.g., a channel) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 102 that are in communication via such communication links.

[0103] The core network 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more network entities 102 associated with the core network 106.

[0104] The core network 106 may communicate with the packet data network 108 over one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network 108 may include an application server 118. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server 118. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the core network 106 via a network entity 102. The core network 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server 118 using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the core network 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the core network 106) .

[0105] In the wireless communications system 100, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0106] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0107] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0108] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacing of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0109] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0110] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0111] FIG. 1B illustrates some example metrics or types of CSIs that are reported in association with the CSI prediction model and CSI compression model in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0112] In FIG. 1B, several metrics or types of CSI in the model-based CSI reporting procedure are defined. Specifically, the CSI#1 130 represents a CSI measured for a current slot. In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the current slot may refer to the current slot on which an reference signal for CSI measurement is actually transmitted. The future slot may refer to the slot in the future, and a CSI may be predicted for this future slot based on the previous CSIs, e.g., the CSI measured for the current slot. Whether the reference signal should be transmitted on the future slot is not limited in this disclosure.

[0113] Still referring to FIG. 1B, the CSI#2 132 represents a CSI predicted for a future slot. For example, the CSI#2 may be derived by the CSI prediction (model) using the CSI#1. CSI#4 134 represents a compressed CSI which is predicted for the future slot. For example, the CSI#4 may be derived by the CSI compression (model) using the CSI#2. CSI#4’ 136 represents the CSI received at the network device, which is obtained based on the CSI#4 transmitted through wireless channel. CSI#6 138 represents the CSI which is recovered CSI for the future slot. For example, the CSI#6 may be obtained by decompressing CSI#4’ at the network device side.

[0114] CSI#3 140 represents a CSI which is measured for the future slot. CSI#5 142 represents a compressed CSI based on measured CSI for the future slot. Similarly, the CSI#5 may be derived by the CSI compression (model) using the CSI#3. CSI#5’ 144 represents the CSI received at the network device, which is obtained based on the CSI#5 transmitted through wireless channel. CSI#7 146 represents the CSI which is recovered CSI based on CSI 5’. For example, the CSI#7 may be obtained by decompressing the CSI#5’ at the network device side.

[0115] As such, different CSI may be adopted for different performance monitoring purposes. For example, if the network needs to perform the performance monitoring of both the CSI prediction and the CSI compression (or end-to-end monitoring of CSI prediction and compression) , the comparison will be performed by the network between CSI#6 and CSI#3, e.g., by calculating spectral global cosine similarity (SGCS) of CSI#3 and CSI#6. CSI#3 can be reported by UE, and CSI#6 can be recovered by gNB based on UE reported CSI#4.

[0116] If the network needs to perform the performance monitoring of the CSI compression only, UE may report the CSI#2. Then, the comparison will be performed by the network between CSI#6 and CSI#2. Alternatively, the UE may report the CSI#3, then the comparison will be performed by the network between CSI#7 and CSI#3. In this case, CSI#7 is derived at gNB side based on UE reported CSI#5.

[0117] If the network needs to perform the performance monitoring of the CSI prediction only, UE may report the CSI#2 and CSI#3. Then, the comparison will be performed between CSI#3 and CSI#2.

[0118] In view of the above, how to perform the performance monitoring depends on the metric or type of the reported CSI. From the reporting perspective, there will be following several metrics or types: type 1-CSI#2, type 2-CSI#3, type 3-CSI#4, and type 4-CSI#5. In turn, depending on performance monitoring requirements, the network may indicate to the UEs the corresponding metric or type of CSI to be reported.

[0119] Reference is now made to FIG. 2 which illustrates an example signaling process 200 related to monitoring performance of model-based reporting in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the process 200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1A. For example, the terminal device 104 may be the UE 104 as shown in FIG. 1A. The network entity 102 in FIG. 1A.

[0120] It is to be understood that the steps and the order of the steps in FIG. 2 are merely for illustration, and not for limitation. It is to be understood that process 200 may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0121] In the signaling process 200, the terminal device 104 determines (210) one or more time instances based on at least one of a configuration for reporting CSI or a time instance of transmitting CSI. Then, the terminal device 104 transmits (220) one or more CSIs 225 associated with the determined one or more time instances. These one or more CSIs are for performance monitoring or model inference. In this way, with the associated time instance information, the network side may use the CSIs (e.g., measured CSI and compressed measured CSI) associated with the same time instance to monitor the performance of the model (s) correctly.

[0122] Specifically, a CSI among the one or more CSIs may be associated with a time instance among the one or more time instances. For example, there may be two CSIs including a first CSI and a second CSI associated with the same time instance, and the first CSI may be CSI#2 and the second CSI may be CSI#3 as mentioned above. That is, the first CSI and the second CSI may have different metrics or types. As such, assuming that the terminal device 104 reports the compressed predicted CSI normally in addition to the CSI for performance monitoring, then the network side may perform the end-to-end performance monitoring (i.e., joint performance monitoring) based on the second CSI and the normally reported CSI (i.e. CSI#4) associated with the same time instance. In addition, the network side may perform the performance monitoring of the CSI compression based on the first CSI and the normally reported CSI (I. e. CSI#4) associated with the same time instance. Alternatively, the first CSI may be CSI#2, and the second CSI may be CSI#3, and the network device may compare the first and second CSIs to determine performance of the prediction model. In this way, the time instance associated with reported CSI may help the network device to retrieve the respective CSI to be compared for performance monitoring. The one or more time instances may be determined explicitly or implicitly. To discuss clarity, the determination is discussed in below embodiments.

[0123] In this way, enabling flexible monitoring of joint CSI prediction and compression, or separate compression / predication. It ensures accurate data association via time-instance, supports both AI-based and legacy mechanisms, and handles potential transmission issues robustly.

[0124] As mentioned above, the network device 102 may indicate to the UEs the corresponding metric or type of CSI to be reported. In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit (202) an indication of a metric or type of CSI to the terminal device 104. After receiving (208) the indication 206, the terminal device 104 may transmit the one or more CSIs 225 based on the indication 206. For example, if the network device 102 needs to perform the performance monitoring of the CSI compression only, the indication 206 may indicate the type 1-CSI#2. Regarding CSI#4, the terminal device reports the CSI#4 in a periodic or aperiodic way. Accordingly, the terminal device 104 may transmit a CSI of type 1 associated with one of the one or more time instances.

[0125] That is, as also shown in FIG. 1B, the above four types are different from each other in whether the CSI is processed by the CSI compression model or not, e.g., type 1 or 2 is without CSI compression processing and type 3 or 4 is with CSI compression processing. In addition, the four types may be also different with each other in whether the CSI is based on measured CSI of future slot or based on predicted CSI of future slot, e.g., type 1 or 3 is based on predicted CSI and type 2 or 4 is based on measured CSI.

[0126] As mentioned above, in the model-based CSI reporting procedure, the terminal device 104 may report the CSI of type 3 (i.e., CSI#4) , e.g., for the model inference phase. In this case, the network device 102 may indicate other required metrics or types of CSI to be reported. In addition, in some embodiments, the indication 206 may be applied to all carrier components (CC) configured or activated for the terminal device 104.

[0127] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the metric or type of reported CSI may be also determined by the terminal device 104 itself. For example, the terminal device 104 may determine a metric or type of CSI to be reported. Then, the terminal device 104 may transmit one or more CSIs 225 being of the determined metric or type. In addition, the terminal device 104 may further transmit a second indication of the metric or type determined by the terminal device 104. In an example, the type or metric which the reported CSI belongs to may be reported by the terminal device. That is, the terminal device may determine the CSI reporting type whether it is a measured CSI, a predicted CSI, or a compressed measured CSI, a compressed predicted CSI. In this way, the terminal device is able to recommend the network device to perform joint monitoring of CSI prediction and CSI compression or to perform monitoring for CSI compression only.

[0128] Regarding one or more time instances, the terminal device 104 may determine them explicitly or implicitly, as mentioned above.

[0129] In some embodiments, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances based on a configuration for reporting CSI (which may be also referred to as “a first configuration” in some embodiments) . For example, the terminal device 104 may receive the first configuration from the network device 102. The first configuration may be used for determining an association between the one or more CSI (of indicated / determined metric or type) to be reported and the time instances. In some embodiments, the associated time instance may be a time instance on which a reference signal for the CSI measurement is transmitted. The reference signal may include CSI-reference signal (RS) or a synchronization signal block (SSB) for the CSI measurement. Without any limitation, the reference signal may include any other downlink reference signals. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the associated time instance may be also a time instance for which the CSI is predicted. That is, the one or more time instances may be a transmission time instance or a prediction time instance of a CSI-RS resource or SSB configured for measurement or for prediction.

[0130] In some embodiments, the first configuration may indicate a time window. In this case, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances by determining one or more reference signals transmitted within the indicated time window. As an example, if the reported one or more CSIs are based on measured CSI, either the actual measured CSI (i.e., CSI#3) or the compressed measured CSI (i.e., CSI#5) based on the measured CSI, there will be a periodic CSI-RS or SSB associated with the reporting. For example, the first configuration may further include a reference signal (RS) configuration, and the RS configuration is periodic or is applied periodically. That is, the terminal device may receive from the network device signaling (e.g., the first configuration) related to RS configuration for a CSI report configuration. This RS configuration indicated by the signaling may be periodic or aperiodic. Moreover, the RS configuration is associated with a transmission occasion when a RS is transmitted.

[0131] In addition, in some embodiments, the one or more time instances may be associated with the one or more time instances by associating them with one or more indexes of the periodic reference signals within the time window.

[0132] In an example, the indexing manner of the CSI or SSB may be configured for reporting. The indexing starts from a configured or pre-defined time domain position. Specifically, if a periodic CSI-RS is configured with 40ms-periodicity, 0ms offset. The CSI-RS at 0ms may be identified as index #0, the CSI-RS at 40ms may be identified as index#1, and the CSI-RS at 80ms may be identified as index#2. As such, the association between the CSI and the time instance may be represented by the association between the CSI and the indexes of the reference signal corresponding to the time instances. Assuming that the time window is indicated as being from 40ms to 160ms for a CSI reporting with measured CSI, then there may be four CSIs which are measured CSI at 40ms, 80ms, 120ms, 160ms, respectively. Furthermore, the four CSIs are associated with the indexes of the reference signals transmitted at 40ms, 80ms, 120ms or 160ms. For example, the four CSIs may be associated with the indexes 2, 3, 4 and 5.

[0133] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first configuration may also indicate a starting position of the indexing and a number of indexes of reference signals related to the one or more time instances. In the above example, the starting position may be 35 ms, and the number of indexes may be four (4) . In this case, the terminal device may also determine four CSIs which are measured CSI at 40ms, 80ms, 120ms, 160ms, respectively. Furthermore, the four CSIs are associated with the indexes of the reference signals transmitted at 40ms, 80ms, 120ms or 160ms. In addition, in some embodiments, the starting position may be a predefined position, e.g., frame#0.

[0134] In this way, the one or more CSIs associated with the one or more time instances are reported, and the CSIs associated with the same time instance may be considered as being associated. As such, the network device 102 may compare the CSIs being of different metric or types associated with the same time instance to determine the performance of the corresponding model (s) or functionality.

[0135] In addition or alternatively, in some embodiments, the first configuration may indicate a time domain window and a step size of CSIs. Assuming that the one or more CSIs are based on predicted CSIs (e.g., the indication 206 indicates type 1-CSI#2) . The reference signal for the CSI measurement may be periodic or aperiodic.

[0136] There may be a time domain window and a step size configured in the first configuration. In this case, the starting position of the time instance is based on the earliest CSI-RS or SSB within the window or the starting position is a configured time domain position. Further, the number of reported CSI-RS is based on the starting position, the step size and ending of the window. To discuss clarity, the reference is made to FIG. 3A now.

[0137] FIG. 3A illustrates an example of the determination of one or more instances associated with reported CSIs in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 3A, the blocks with or without shade (e.g., block 310) represents a time instance on which a reference signal may be transmitted.

[0138] In the example of FIG. 3A, a time domain window 320 is configured as being from 30ms to 100ms, and the step size is configured as 20ms. Assuming that the earliest reference signal within the window is at 40ms. Then, based on the 20ms step size, the transmitted one or more CSIs 225 are associated with the time instances 40ms, 60ms, 80ms and 100ms, i.e., there all 4 reported CSIs.

[0139] In addition, the block 330 represents a time instance for which a predicted CSI is reported. In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the time instance represented by block 330 may be also referred to as “prediction time instance” . In some embodiments, the CSI predicted for the prediction time instance may be derived based on the previous CSI related information. For example, the terminal device 104 may determine the CSI predicted for the time instance 330, based on the CSI measured on the time instance 310. Thus, if the terminal device is indicated to report the predicted CSI, the terminal device does not need to actually measure the CSI transmitted on the prediction time instance. Accordingly, in some embodiments, the network device 102 does not actually transmit the reference signal on the prediction time instance. In addition, in some embodiments, the network device 102 may reuse the prediction time instance (s) for other communication purposes.

[0140] Referring back to FIG. 2, in addition or alternatively, the first configuration may also indicate a starting position, a step size and the number of CSI reports. Similarly, the actual starting position may be based on the earliest reference signal associated with the reporting, which is not earlier than the starting position. To discuss clarity, the reference is made to FIG. 3B now.

[0141] FIG. 3B illustrates another example of the determination of one or more instances associated with reported CSIs in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0142] In the example of FIG. 3B, the time position 350 represents the configured starting position. In this example, the configured starting position is 20ms, the configured step size is 15ms and the configured number of reported CSIs is four (4) . Assuming that the earliest time instance 330 for the possible reference signal (in some cases, the reference signal may be not transmitted actually, as discussed above) is the time instance 330. In this case, the one or more CSIs 225 are associated with the time instance 30ms, 45ms, 60ms and 75ms, and there will be 4 reported CSIs.

[0143] In view of the above, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more instances for the reported CSIs based on the “explicit” first configuration.

[0144] In addition or alternatively, in some embodiments, there may be no specific configuration for reporting CSI related to the performance monitoring. The “first configuration” may follow another configuration for reporting CSI related to model inference. For example, there may be a linked CSI report configuration (which may be also referred to as a third configuration in some embodiments) for the model inference. As an example, a CSI report with index #p may be determined based on this linked CSI report configuration, and the CSI with index #p is for model inference. Similarly, the third configuration may indicate the associated time instance for the reported CSI, e.g., to be used for the model inference. In some embodiments, the third configuration may indicate information related to a periodic reference signal and / or a prediction step.

[0145] That is, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more instances based on the third configuration for the model inference. For example, in the above embodiments where the one or more CSIs are based on measured CSIs, the periodic reference signal may be based on the periodic reference signal configured in the third configuration. In addition, there may be additional reference signal transmissions from the network device 102 based on the prediction duration or step size. Or alternatively, there is no RS transmission for the prediction time instance.

[0146] Alternatively, in the above embodiments where the one or more CSIs are based on predicted CSI, the periodic CSI-RS / SSB may be based on the periodic reference signal configured in the third configuration, and the step size may be same as the prediction duration or step size for CSI report with index #p.

[0147] In addition, in some embodiments, the third configuration may be a “default” configuration for determining the one or more time instances. For example, the terminal device 104 may determine whether the first configuration for reporting CSI related to the performance monitoring is received. If the terminal device 104 determines that the first configuration is received, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances based on this first configuration. Otherwise, if the terminal device 104 determines that the first configuration is not received, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances based on the third configuration for reporting CSI related to the model inference.

[0148] In view of the above, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances based on explicit CSI reporting configuration.

[0149] Referring back to FIG. 2, alternatively, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances based on the time instance of transmitting the one or more CSIs 225, implicitly. In some embodiments, a time difference between the last one of the one or more time instances and the time instance of reporting CSIs 225 is greater than or equal to a threshold. This threshold may be predefined value. Alternatively, the threshold may be configured by the network device 102. For example, the network device 102 may transmit an indication of the threshold (value) to the terminal device 104. As such, the terminal device may determine the one or more time instances based on the time instance of transmitting the CSIs 225 and the threshold.

[0150] In some embodiments, in addition to the threshold, the terminal device may determine the time instance (s) in a similar manner as discussed above. For example, no matter the threshold is predefined or configured, the terminal device may receive a configuration for reporting CSI (which may be also referred to as a second configuration in some embodiments) , the second configuration may indicate one or more of the following: a time window duration, a starting position, a number of indexes of reference signals related to the one or more time instances, or a step size or a number of CSIs to be reported.

[0151] In an example, the second configuration may indicate a time window duration. In this case, the ending of a time domain window defining the one or more time instances 225 may be based on the reporting time instance “n” , the threshold “M” and the time window duration, e.g., the ending of a time domain window is n-M. To discuss clarity, the reference is made to FIG. 4A now.

[0152] FIG. 4A illustrates a further example of the determination of one or more instances associated with reported CSIs in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. Similarly, the blocks shaded or without shaded (e.g., the block 410) represent the time instances. In addition, the time instances may be the one or more time instances may be a transmission time instance or a prediction time instance of a CSI-RS resource or SSB configured for measurement or for prediction. Among the blocks, the shaded block (e.g., block 420) may represent the prediction time instance.

[0153] In the example of FIG. 4A, the block 430 represents the time instance of transmitting CSI (s) 225. As mentioned above, the ending time of the time window 440 defining the one or more time instances is determined based on the time instance 430 “n” and the threshold 450 “M” , i.e., the ending time may be determined as “n-M” . Furthermore, the length of the time window 440 may be equal to the configuration time window duration. Then, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances or one or more indexes of the reference signal in the same way discussed above.

[0154] In a specific example, the time instance for transmitting the CSI is configured to be at 125ms, and the threshold is configured to be 5ms similarly. As such, the ending of the window is 120ms. In addition, the time window duration is configured to be 100ms. The periodic CSI-RS or SSB is configured to be at 0ms, 20ms, 40ms, 60ms, 80ms, 100ms, 120ms, and so on. In this case, no matter the actual CSI-RS or SSB transmission or prediction time instance, the associated time instance may be determined as 40ms, 60ms, 80ms, 100ms and120ms.

[0155] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the second configuration may also indicate a starting position and a number of indexes of reference signals related to the one or more time instances. Then, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances similarly.

[0156] Referring back to FIG. 2, alternatively, the second configuration may indicate a starting position, a step size and / or a number of CSIs to be reported. Then, the terminal device 104 may determine the one or more time instances accordingly. To discuss clarity, the reference is made to FIG. 4B.

[0157] FIG. 4B illustrates a yet example of the determination of one or more instances associated with reported CSIs in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0158] In the example of FIG. 4B, the second configuration may indicate a starting position and a step size. In this case, the terminal device may determine the ending position 460 based on the time instance 430 for transmitting CSI (s) and the threshold. Then, the actual starting time instance may be the earliest time instance for the reference signal after the configured starting position. Furthermore, the terminal device 104 may determine the time instances based on the step size between the starting position and the ending position 460.

[0159] In another example, the second configuration may indicate a step size and a number of CSIs. In this case, similarly, the terminal device determine the ending position 460. Then, the terminal device 104 may determine one or more time instances from the ending position 460 based on the indicated number of reported CSIs 480 and the step size.

[0160] In a specific, the time instance for transmitting the CSI is configured to be at 125ms, and the threshold is configured to be 5ms. In this case, the ending of the window is 120ms similarly. Assuming that the number of CSIs to be reported is configured as 4, and the periodic CSI-RS or SSB is configured to be at 0ms, 20ms, 40ms, 60ms, 80ms, 100ms, 120ms and so on. No matter actual CSI-RS / SSB transmission or prediction time instance, the associated time instance may be determined as 60ms, 80ms, 100ms and 120ms.

[0161] Referring back to FIG. 2, alternatively, the second configuration may follow the third configuration for reporting CSI related to model inference similarly. In this case, the terminal device 104 may also determine the one or more time instances based on the threshold and the third configuration similarly.

[0162] In addition, in some embodiments, the above first, second or third configuration (e.g., the time window, starting position and so on) may occur periodically. Thus, the CSI reporting may be periodic. Alternatively, the above first, second or third configuration may be also on-shot, and then the reporting is aperiodic.

[0163] In addition, in some embodiments, the terminal device may receive from the network device an indication of a layer index or a rank number (which may be also referred to as the second indication) . As an example, the rank number or layer index associated with the CSI may be configured by network, or alternatively, the rank number or layer index for monitoring related reporting is based the rank number or layer index of the associated reporting for inference if there is linkage configuration. Then, the terminal device may transmit the one or more CSIs 225 based on the second indication.

[0164] In addition, the one or more CSIs 225 may be based on the legacy etype II codebook. Alternatively, the one or more CSIs 225 may be based on a further codebook, and a first resolution of the further codebook is higher than a second resolution of the etype II codebook.

[0165] In addition, in some embodiments, after determining the one or more time instances, if the CSI is based on the measured CSI, there may be a case that the reference signal is not transmitted on at least one of the determined time instances. In this case, the terminal device may drop a measurement associated with a time instance for the at least one reference signal. Accordingly, the CSI associated with the time instance will be not transmitted. Alternatively, the terminal device 104 may drop or may do not perform a transmission of a CSI associated with the time instance. Alternatively, the terminal device 104 may transmit the CSI associated with the time instance, and this CSI comprises a predefined value. In some embodiments, the predefined value is located in a predefined or configured bit field in the CSI. If the network device 102 detects the predefined value, the network device 102 may drop the corresponding CSI.

[0166] Still referring to FIG. 2, the network device 102 receives (230) the one or more CSIs 225 associated with the one or more time instances. Then, the network device 102 may perform the performance monitoring of the model-based CSI reporting by comparing the CSIs associated with the same time instance.

[0167] In some embodiments, the network device may perform the performance monitoring in “two-step manner” . In the first step, the network device 102 may determine the performance of joint compression model and prediction model based on a pair of CSIs comprising at least one CSI from the one or more CSIs. In an example, the pair of CSIs may include a CSI which is obtained by compressing a predicted CSI, and another measured CSI, and the CSI and the other measured CSI are associated with the same time instance.

[0168] If the performance of joint CSI prediction and CSI compression is acceptable (e.g., the joint performance fulfills a requirement) , the model can continue work. Otherwise, the network device 120 may proceed to the second step. In the second step, the network device may monitor CSI compression only, or separately monitor CSI compression or CSI prediction. If performance of the 2nd step is not acceptable, the network device 102 may indicate to the terminal device 104 to fall back to legacy mechanism without AI model or use legacy method for CSI prediction only, or use legacy method for CSI compression only. Without any limitation, the step 2 may do not depend to the result of the first step, that is, even if the joint performance level is acceptable, the network device may also proceed to the second step. Furthermore, the second step can be adopted to identify which part is not proper, so that adjustment of corresponding part or fallback to non-AI mechanism can be adopted.

[0169] In addition, in some embodiments, the network device 102 may determine that a certain type or metric of CSI is required in response to receiving the one or more CSIs 225. In this case, the network device 102 may transmit a reporting indication to the terminal device 104 in response to receiving a CSI among the one or more CSIs. For example, the network device 102 receives a CSI#5 from the terminal device, and the network device 102 needs to determine the compression performance however there is no CSI#3 associated with the same time instance. In this case, the network device may transmit a reporting indication of reporting the CSI#3. Then, the terminal device 104 may transmit the CSI#3 associated with the same time instance based on the reporting indication.

[0170] In view of the above, enabling flexible monitoring of both joint CSI prediction and compression, or separate compression / predication, with configurable reporting to distinguish different CSI types (predicted / measured, compressed / uncompressed) . It ensures accurate data association via time-instance, supports both AI-based and legacy mechanisms, and handles potential transmission issues robustly. This balances performance monitoring precision with adaptability, enhancing efficiency in wireless network optimization without excessive complexity.

[0171] Alternatively, embodiments of the disclosure provide another solution for monitoring performance of model-based CSI reporting. In this solution, the terminal device directly reports a pair of CSIs for the comparison related to the performance monitoring at the network device.

[0172] In a second aspect, a terminal device receives, from the network device, an indication of a metric or type of CSI. Then, the terminal device transmits to the network device, a first CSI and a second CSI in a reporting instance based on the indication. The first and second CSIs are associated and for performance monitoring or model inference.

[0173] In this way, the network side may directly obtain the CSI reports associated with the same time instance for the performance monitoring, without any dedicated configuration.

[0174] Reference is now made to FIG. 5 which illustrates an example signaling process 500 related to monitoring performance of model-based reporting in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the process 500 will be described with reference to FIG. 1A. For example, the terminal device 104 may be the UE 104 as shown in FIG. 1A. The network entity 102 in FIG. 1A.

[0175] It is to be understood that the steps and the order of the steps in FIG. 5 are merely for illustration, and not for limitation. It is to be understood that process 200 may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0176] In the signaling process 500, the network device 102 transmits (510) an indication 515 of the metric or type of CSI. In some embodiments, the indication 515 may be the same as the indication 206 discussed above. As an example, if the network device 102 needs to monitor a joint performance level of both a compression model and a prediction model, then the indication 515 may indicate the type 2-CSI#3 and the type 3-CSI#4. Upon receiving (520) the indication 515, the terminal device 104 transmits (530) a first CSI and a second CSI 535 based on the indication 515 accordingly. For example, the first CSI may be the type 2-CSI#3, and the second CSI may be the type 3-CSI#4. In addition, the first CSI and the second CSI may be associated with the same time instance. For example, the first CSI may be the compressed CSI predicted for a time instance, and the second CSI may be the measured CSI for the same time instance. Then, after receiving (540) the first CSI and second CSI 535, the network device 102 may perform the performance monitoring accordingly.

[0177] In a specific example, if the comparison is between measured future slot CSI (i.e., CSI#3) and recovered CSI based on compressed measured future slot CSI (i.e., CSI#7) , then the measured future slot CSI (CSI#3) and compressed measured future slot CSI (CSI#5) may be reported together as a pair, so that they are associated for further comparison. In addition, in some embodiments, without any limitation, the first CSI and the second CSI may be also transmitted separately, for example, this can be configured by the network.

[0178] In view of the above, the association between the different metrics or types of the CSIs may be also determined in a directly manner, i.e., they are can be transmitted together or in an association way.

[0179] In the embodiments of the disclosure, the gNB is capable of indicating the type of CSI reporting, which includes measured CSI for future slots, predicted CSI for future slots, measured CSI for future slots after CSI compression, and predicted CSI for future slots after CSI compression. Performance monitoring involves comparing different types of CSI to assess system efficiency. For instance, joint monitoring of CSI prediction and compression occurs when recovered CSI derived from compressed predicted CSI is compared with measured CSI of future slots. In contrast, separate monitoring of CSI compression can be achieved in two ways: either by comparing recovered CSI from compressed predicted CSI with the original predicted CSI, or by comparing recovered CSI from compressed measured CSI with the original measured CSI.

[0180] To ensure accurate comparisons, the two CSI instances being evaluated are associated with the same time instance, which can be a transmission instance of a Reference Signal (such as CSI-RS or SSB) or a prediction instance configured by the gNB. Time-domain parameters like step size and time window, or a combination of a starting position and a fixed number of CSI reports, can be configured to define reporting occasions. The step size may be explicitly set by the gNB, derived from the RS configuration of the current reporting, or inherited from the RS configuration of a linked CSI report used for model inference. Time instances for reporting can be determined based on the reporting instance and a predefined threshold to define the window end, or directly reported by the UE to indicate the associated time reference.

[0181] In cases where a measurement-related CSI-RS is dropped due to channel collisions, the corresponding CSI report can either be omitted entirely or transmitted with a special value or predefined bit field, allowing the gNB to ignore it and maintain robust monitoring functionality. This framework ensures flexible, precise, and reliable performance monitoring by aligning different CSI types with configurable time parameters and addressing potential transmission issues effectively.

[0182] FIG. 6 illustrates an example of a device 600 that supports the communication related to the monitoring performance of model-based reporting in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The device 600 may be an example of the terminal device 104 or the network device 102 as described herein. The device 600 may support wireless communication with one or more network entities 102, UEs 104, or any combination thereof. The device 600 may include components for bi-directional communications including components for transmitting and receiving communications, such as a processor 602, a memory 604, a transceiver 606, and, optionally, an I / O controller 608. These components may be in electronic communication or otherwise coupled (e.g., operatively, communicatively, functionally, electronically, electrically) via one or more interfaces (e.g., buses) .

[0183] The processor 602, the memory 604, the transceiver 606, or various combinations thereof or various components thereof may be examples of means for performing various aspects of the present disclosure as described herein. For example, the processor 602, the memory 604, the transceiver 606, or various combinations or components thereof may support a method for performing one or more of the operations described herein.

[0184] In some implementations, the processor 602, the memory 604, the transceiver 506, or various combinations or components thereof may be implemented in hardware (e.g., in communications management circuitry) . The hardware may include a processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, a discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof configured as or otherwise supporting a means for performing the functions described in the present disclosure. In some implementations, the processor 602 and the memory 604 coupled with the processor 602 may be configured to perform one or more of the functions described herein (e.g., executing, by the processor 602, instructions stored in the memory 604) .

[0185] For example, the processor 602 may support wireless communication at the device 600 in accordance with examples as disclosed herein. The processor 602 may be configured to operable to support a means for the operation related to ambient internet of things (IoT) device.

[0186] The processor 602 may include an intelligent hardware device (e.g., a general-purpose processor, a DSP, a CPU, a microcontroller, an ASIC, an FPGA, a programmable logic device, a discrete gate or transistor logic component, a discrete hardware component, or any combination thereof) . In some implementations, the processor 602 may be configured to operate a memory array using a memory controller. In some other implementations, a memory controller may be integrated into the processor 602. The processor 602 may be configured to execute computer-readable instructions stored in a memory (e.g., the memory 604) to cause the device 600 to perform various functions of the present disclosure.

[0187] The memory 604 may include random access memory (RAM) and read-only memory (ROM) . The memory 604 may store computer-readable, computer-executable code including instructions that, when executed by the processor 602 cause the device 600 to perform various functions described herein. The code may be stored in a non-transitory computer-readable medium such as system memory or another type of memory. In some implementations, the code may not be directly executable by the processor 602 but may cause a computer (e.g., when compiled and executed) to perform functions described herein. In some implementations, the memory 604 may include, among other things, a basic I / O system (BIOS) which may control basic hardware or software operation such as the interaction with peripheral components or devices.
